This was what I was going to say while reading through the thread. Forget the history and dynamics of the issue, if a woman does not want more children, she doesn't want more children. No amount of religious/cultural cajoling should make her look like a demon for not wanting more children.
But after seeing the OP's last post, all I'm going to say is; SORRY. Your marriage is over, just try to accept that and move on with your life. 100% correct. davidylan: bro, my definition of sensible also includes fine. i trust you and your eyes on this. Higher: @ Poster I strongly believe in given reasons for someone to something rather than forcing it on him/her. Why nt jst sit her up n discuss ur reasons n what she stand to benefit with her. JustGood: what happened to all the old american women using young Nigerian men to satisfy their thirst for companionship and the boys also getting into it knowing that they are only in it for the passports/greencards? Is that not a case of love 419 from both sides? i dont know where you live but you must be very naive to think there are old american women using young Nigerian men to satisfy their thirst for companionship just picture a group of senior citizens lining up for their pick of nigerian security guards, cab drivers and what have you as if their lives depends on it. i am old enough to know right from wrong. you dont have to deceive people to get ahead in life. this is very difficult for people like you to understand. you should be angry with your likes who see nothing wrong in deceiving people for fun or finance. in case you missed it there is a write up by oluwdashmi another deceived sister here. what else do you want to do other than declare to him that you have caught him and walk away. Although it is painful depending on how long you are able to put yourself together but life goes on. As for your family, don't tell them anything but if they ask you about him, tell them you are no longer together.
I am a victim of your story but in my own case, it was the wife that called me and was weeping badly on phone as if she was dying. She kept crying and begging me to stay away from her husband cos he has been a different person ever since he met me (she knew me thru calls and text msgs). Although, I noticed the guy is cunny and finds it difficult answering some of my questns about marriage but I decided to be calm until his secret is revealed.
Immediately, I called my guy but he denied it saying the lady is a blackmailer and that I shouldn't mind her. I pretended as if his explanation was understanding but called the wife and we both met. She told me how he has been maltreating her, how he has promised to divorce her before the end of 2008 and that she has been crying for days. Infact her eyes were swollen and she kept crying in the eatery where we met and I was even the one cosoling her. The wife and I planned to keep it secret that we ever met then I turned him to a money making machine.
This is a guy who comes visiting my pple as a son in-law to be. Anyway, I didn't tell them anything and they never asked about him cos they said they prayed about it but received a msg that I should be careful.

i am currently so depressed and feel like a failure (always been an achiever), not been to work today and already downed a bottle of wine. i really love her still and wuld give anythin to have her back (she's so fine).
maybe i shuld have given her momsy and siblings more money maybe i shld have spent more time wit her instead of chasin money maybe i shuld have been more sensitive (whtever dat means) i guess i was tryin to be a straight and responsible naija husband instead of givin her enuf fun.

That's not tribalism, he said; MOSTLY COMMON, it's like saying, FRAUD is common among Nigerians than in Africa, that statement did not banish the entire Nigeria, rather said, it's common.
However, I think it's better to avoid such negative comments unless neccessary, cos every man is unique and we are all different, regardless of where we were born, however most likely can be influenced by our environment, only if we allow it, and a LARGER % always allow it. using mostly doesnt mean anything here. almost everyone i have heard do this kind of things are mostly yorubas and ibos. do i get a credit for this? |

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4a/Robin_Sanders-ambassador.jpgHow Sanders taught Island men a lesson By Juliet Bumah and Abimbola Adelakun Published: Thursday, 5 Mar 2009 By now, Nigerian women are used to their men‘s sense of gender superiority. An average Nigerian man can acquire up to four wives and still not see a woman as more than an object to decorate his house with.
Recently, the United States ambassador to Nigeria, Ms. Robin Renee Sanders, was at the Island Club to deliver a lecture on Political Democratic Transitions. After the lecture, one of the guests, a female, pointed out that the Island Club was all male.
”In this 21st century,” Sanders replied, ”you can‘t be a leader if you exclude half of the world‘s population from being members of your club. If I had known about the all male status of this club, I would have reconsidered my invitation.”
To salvage an apparently embarrassing situation, the former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku got up and responded, saying, ”Thank God you didn‘t know about the club‘s all male status before getting the invitation. And now that you have pointed this out, it will serve as food for thought for the Islanders http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art20090305620675Comments:

* It is noteworthy for the US Ambassador to make this sort of remark in such a forum of men of influence and affluence in Nigeria-the elite, Lagos Island Club. The society should be an egalitarian one-providing a level playing field for all participants irrespective of gender, race, status, nationalities, etc. Today, the most powerful personality in the world, after God, is a black man, an African-American, in the person of Barrack Obama who white supremacists would have rejected some decades ago!

* It is easy to bash men for their ego. The women rulethe world!!! They surrendered power to the men. Their assumed powerlessness is to becloud the real fact. Has any woman been denied membership of the club just because she is a woman? How many women have been able to put themselves up for elections and denied just because they are women? ANd if women want power let them start with being the head and breadwinners for their homes and opening the car door for their husbands.

* It is so refreshing to read about the audacious and indicting observation by the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria - Ms. Sanders, concerning the all-male membership of the Islanders. It is hoped that her somewhat regretful remarks for honoring the invitation to give the lecture, will send a message of empowerment to women across the world to make their voices heard in similar male monopoly of the stage. I salute Ms. Sanders and wish her all the best in her mission to and assignment in Nigeria.

Crime › Woman Granted Amnesty From Life Jail, Laments Early Menopause by JJYOU(op): 11:49am On Mar 05, 2009 |
Woman granted amnesty from life jail, laments early menopauseFrom JOE EFFIONG, Uyo Thursday, March 5, 2009 What shall it profit a woman who regains the whole world but loses her womb? This appears to have been the question which flashed through the mind of Adiaha King Jack, a 44- year-old woman who had spent 26 years in prison for killing one of her brothers. Fate, however, smiled on Adiaha Jack recently when Governor Godswill Akpabio visited the Uyo Prisons and decided to grant her amnesty. The prerogative of mercy covered not only her; her brother, Akpan King Jack, also convicted of the same offence the same year but incarcerated in Ikot Ekpene Prisons, also breathed the air of freedom. Thus, Adiaha and Akpan regained their freedom, each person received N500,000 lifeline. They walked away free from the gulag with joy but a heavy heart. At 44, Adiaha prematurely, had been hit by the naturally irreversible female impotence. And considering the fact that when she was convicted in 1985, she was only 18, without a child, the joy of her release became tainted and she expressed her low value in the African society. “I’m grateful to God and to the governor for granting me pardon. My only regret in life is that at 44, I have been hit by menopause which means I won’t be able to have a child again.” Menopause at 44, for someone who never enjoyed being a wife or a mother before she was sent to prison may appear a cruel fate. In fact, a gynecologist in the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital , Dr. Emem Bassey tends to agree. “At 44, it seems menopause struck her a bit early because in our environment, it occurs in women between 45 and 50 years. Maybe it is because of the stress she went through in the prison. But it is still normal because menopause can occur in women at any age from 40 years upwards.” But with modern science, can menopause be reversed? Bassey gave an emphatic No. “Menopause means that the woman is no longer ovulating she can no longer produce egg. The condition cannot be reversed. However, the woman in question can still have a child if she can meet somebody who would be willing to donate eggs to her so that she can be made pregnant through invitro fertilization (IVF) method,” he said. But isn’t there a concession that could be granted to such people who are condemned to life imprisonment at tender age to try and fulfill their natural responsibility like procreation within or outside prison? The Public Relations Officer of Akwa Ibom State Prisons Command, Mr. Charles Isong told Daily Sun there is no such luxury. “As emotional as it may sound, we cannot create a separate law for a separate case. The laws that we are operating is not our own laws, but the laws that the society entrusts on us. It is what they ask us to do in prison that we implement. We can’t allow that to happen. Once you are imprisoned, you are under confinement. Your right to movement, right to sex, if at all there is such a right; right to vote and be voted for, are all restricted. But you’re free to enjoy every other rights,” Isong explained. Similarly, the Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association, Uyo Branch, Mr. Ekanem Ekanem, said there are no separate laws for those serving life sentence and others for those serving shorter sentences, which could have provided some respite for people like Adiaha Jack. “Perhaps, the law may have to address that problem and fashion out a way to help people fulfill their natural obligations because for now, the prison regulations apply to every prisoner,” Ekanem reasoned. But Akpabio, who is the first governor to visit the prison ever since the state was created in 1987, and the first to grant amnesty to those serving life jail, advised the King Jacks never to look back at their wasted period in prison but to match forward to live their lives to the full. “We saw this in the life of Malcom X, and also in the life of Nelson Mandela, who did not allow 27 years of being political prisoners to embitter them against society,” the governor recalled. He stated that the prison is an institution designed for people who have been convicted of crimes, saying, “that fact that there is restriction of movement in the prison does not mean there is restriction of the mind.” While advising them to spend time developing their minds to overcome mischief and bitterness, Governor Akpabio reminded them that Malcom X was educated in prison to become a respected civil rights activist in the United States. “Turn the hand of your destiny and become a new man. I believe you should tell the prison authorities that you need a counselor,” the governor admonished.
