Hathor5:I don't even agree that a man should take care of financial needs of a healthy woman in a monogamous setting let alone in a polyandrous one. Both genders should work and take care of their personal needs. If children are involved, then both parents should contribute to their upkeeps. That's the trend in modern feminism. |
Cloudflare:Honestly! Especially those contract staff earning 35-40k salary monthly. Na them form pass. |

Nice one governor Mbah. Da-enyo. Jisike ogbuzuru |
DrAkpamudehe:Abegi! What difference was he able to make while he was there as a senator? Nothing! He was there looting the money meant for upgrade of our healthcare system. The fact that he inherited his father's business didn't mean he never joined in looting our common patrimony. |
Nice one |
He took "proper treatment" in the United States while our healthcare system is plundered and left in comatose. Our political class are so thoughtless ehn. Fixing our health sector would serve them better since it'll be easier to access healthcare here as they'll be attended to by our own health professionals who understand them better. But they prefer sending out funds to keep growing the western nations. It doesn't take much to fix things in our health sector. Just reorganize the leadership hierarchy of the sector by appointing competent administrators (who are not medical doctors) to manage our health institutions, so that funds going into the sector would be judiciously managed while industrial harmony would be entrenched. |
CuriousStudent:People hardly give a thought to the problems faced by the boychild in the society. That was the reason for my reaction. |
CuriousStudent:Don't even go there! There have been countless cases of grown ladies molesting small boys. I was a victim of that. Maids, aunties and even sisters have been molesting small boys since beginning of life, but nobody cares about the boychild. |
CuriousStudent:Even when "you women" harass men sexually, you always go Scot free. |
Omoawoke:In the west, everything is planned to work against men. You are not at liberty to make passes at a girl you like but women are free to harass the men they desire. |
Man is only a victim of his own mind and the society. No man owes any woman any responsibility, especially in this time and age when both men and women have equal opportunities to sources of livelihood. In fact, women even have more opportunities these days. If it were during the stone age when life depended more on brawn than brain, it'll be understandable why men should assume that position of "provider". But now, the brain is the major source of livelihood and women are not at any disadvantage in that regard. Therefore, they can "provide" as much as men do. In a nutshell, we have to stop heaping all the responsibilities of "provision" on the menfolk. After all, improvements in medical sciences have lessened the pains of childbearing for women as they now use CS and other medical procedures to birth children with little or no pains. So, it is no longer a case of God's curse on Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. What am I saying? Stop cajoling men into subjecting themselves to untold hardship all in a bid to conform with your expectations of what a man should be or not. This is me trying not to sugarcoat reality but say it the way it is. |
Ugwuanyi did well in some areas and should be given credit for those. Prompt payment of workers salaries and other benefits is very critical since many families in the state survive on salaries. The building of SUMAS is also a positive one. However, he concentrated most of his rural projects in Nsukka zone as if the other zones are not parts of Enugu state. Also, there's the issue of nepotism in employment into the state's civil service. About 90% of workers employed into the state's health institutions, educational institutions etc are from Nsukka. This now made it look like the other zones don't matter and should die of joblessness. That was unfair and I hope governor Mbah will correct that anomaly. |
On another thought, I think some relatives turn their backs against their own for genuine reasons. Take for instance, I know that many families in this part of the world train their children by what I call cooperative interaction ie they train the first borns( sometimes up to the 3rd) who are then expected to train the younger ones. However in many cases, these first borns don't care to train their younger ones but would rather hurriedly get married and start raising their own families. And we all know how most wives readily turn their husbands against their families. But would rather have him spend his money on her own family. Now, because wealth is fleeting, it is possible that the man may later become poor while those siblings he neglected may turn out rich. In such scenario, it is common for the man's wife and children to start telling lies about how their dad trained so and so persons in his family only for them to abandon him in his time of need. In such instance, I'll not blame the siblings for not caring for their brother. What goes around comes around. The man should better seek help from his wife's family. What a man sows is what he shall reap |
Darlingme:Don't mind them o. It's simply because they had always wished the person dead all along. So, when death eventually comes, they jubiliate over the person's death while pretending to be mourning. That's how dark most people's hearts are |
If President Tinubu can effect the following changes, then I will not only support his presidency with every life in me but I'll canvas for support for him from family and friends: 1. Reform the leadership of our health institutions from the ministry of health down to the lowest hierarchy, ensuring that no medical doctor holds any office that affects other healthcare professionals in the sector eg Minister of health etc. Our medical doctors are destroying our health sector due to their insecurity! They need to concentrate on medical practice and stop playing destructive politics with the health of Nigerians. 2. Ensure aggressive implementation of the National Drug Distribution Guidelines and closure of the open drug markets in the country. This will also greatly improve the health and quality of life of Nigerians. Many of the merchants of fake drugs in the open markets have boasted that Tinubu being a druglord (according to them) would boost their deadly business. They believe that with Tinubu in power, they'll be able to bribe their way through and kill the lofty idea of having a well regulated drug distribution system in the country. Therefore, I'll like president Tinubu to prove them wrong and also clear his name from the allegation of being a druglord. He can do this by aggressively pursuing the actualization of the national drug distribution guidelines (NDDG) and ensuring closure of the illegal open drug markets in the country. Even late Prof Akunyili will thank him from her grave if he achieves that feat. 3. Ensure that all the gains recorded by the Buhari administration in the area of electoral reforms are not reversed. Any honest Nigerian will agree with me that alot of positive results were recorded by Buhari's government in the area of electoral reforms. This is why a party like Labor party was able to come from behind and win many positions, including senatorial and governorship elections. Agreed that there are still rooms for improvement, but we can't take away the fact that things are now much better in our electoral system compared to what used to be the case in the past. 4. Remember Southeast in his developmental plans. I beg president Tinubu to forget whatever happened during the election in the southeast and remember us in his developmental agenda. Specifically, he should help us build our comatose federal roads and our railways. Also, he should also remember us in his appointments. I'm very sure that if he carries us along in his presidency, we'll reciprocate by supporting his government to excel. We'll also massively vote for him when he'll be contesting for second term. Igbos don't forget leaders who show them love. Ask Obasanjo and Jonathan. |
Kudos to the Jagaban of Nigeria. Please sir, hacken to the cries of these health professionals who have suffered untold marginalization in the hands of our insecure and greedy medical doctors. Healthcare is a team-oriented work and no member of the team is more important than the others. We need a total overhaul of the leadership hierarchy of our health sector. Administrators should be appointed to provide unbiased leadership, not medical doctors. |
Egypt209:That's why I said that I'm against it |
Nice one I advocate for a sexually liberal world where consenting adults are free to have sex wherever and however they like. If sex is a sin, God wouldn't create us with raging hormones that make us crave sex all the time. The ones I wouldn't support are; sex with minors, same sex, incest and sex with animals or mad people. Contraceptives are there to help us control population. Kudos to Sweden! |
Governor Mbah should first boost people's confidence by marshalling out aggressive security measures that would help decimate the enforcers of the sit-at-home order. |
Anybody who doesn't like gentleman Messi is sick in the head. |
The governor and the police will not be there to save anybody from attacks by the miscreants. Bad as the sit-at-home is, nobody wants to risk his/her life going against it. No confidence in the authorities! |
JesusIsAMuslim:Tell them o. Except those men that want to appear woke, politically correct or those looking for an already-made woman to support them, MEN generally desire younger girls. It is NATURE'S way of promoting reproduction and ensuring continuity of life on earth. |
Commendable The truth is that Buhari is not a greedy human like the other corrupt politicians we have in Nigeria. |
CodeTemplar:You're very correct brother |
omohayek:Removal of fuel subsidy is a welcome development. However, measures should be put in place to cution the effects. Example of such measures include strict regulation of fuel price and meting out severe punishment to those involved in hoarding of petroleum products and selling above stipulated price |
Reform our public heathcare system. |
Chloraseptic:He can still reform it even if he would receive treatments abroad. All he needs is the political will to make such changes and stick to it. |
Elections are over and we now have a new president of Nigeria. Although, some of us may not have supported him ab initio, not because we hate him but because we believed that age was no longer on his side. However, having emerged as president, we're left with no choice than accept his emergence as an act of divine Providence. So, a big CONGRATULATIONS to Mr President, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR ( The Jagaban of Nigeria, not only that of Borgu). Now, to the gist of this write up. I want to use this space to bring to fore some of the issues that have hindered our quest for a robust and competitive healthcare system in this country. It is no longer news that members of the joint health sector unions have been on an indefinite strike since the past two weeks and this has paralyzed activities in our public heathcare institutions. This is regrettable but well justified. The members of JOHESU which is an umbrella body of healthcare professionals' unions in our public heathcare institutions are demanding among other things: 1. Payment of the arrears of the adjusted consolidated healthcare salary scheme (CONHESS) which has been due for years 2. Payment of withheld salaries of their members in some public hospitals 3. Increment of retirement age of these professionals from the current 60years to 65years 4. Immediate implementation of the FG approved consultancy cadre for Pharmacists and proper placement of Pharmacists who have acquired the Pharm.D degrees to grade level 12 in our public heathcare institutions Now, looking at the above demands, any unbiased person will agree with me that they are legitimate and when implemented would add great values to our healthcare system. These issues have been on the front burner for so long and would have been addressed but for the INSECURITY and egocentric nature of the Nigerian physician doctors who have chosen to turn our public heathcare institutions to their private estates to the disadvantage of the health-seeking Nigerian masses. For the sake of clarity, let me throw a bit more light on some the above demands. On the issue of salary arrears: There are two salary schemes in our public heathcare institutions ie CONMESS for physicians and CONHESS for other healthcare professionals. Since inception of these schemes, CONMESS has been reviewed upwards for 4 times while CONHESS has remained stagnant ever since. The result is that these heathcare professionals who spent several years in school studying so hard ( more than their medical students friends in some cases like in Pharmacy) are being paid peanuts not even enough for transportation. On retirement age: Considering the braindrain in our healthcare system and the tedious nature of training new healthcare professionals, it is very important that the older and more experienced hands among these professionals are retained in the system for up to even age 70 in order to train and mentor the younger ones. On the issue of consultancy in Pharmacy and proper placement of Pharm.D graduates: It is unfortunate that our physician friends only talk about INTERNATIONAL BEST PRACTICES in healthcare delivery when it suits their selfish demands, but fail to apply same holistically. In most countries of the world today, the minimum qualification to be licensed as a pharmacist is the Pharm.D and senior Pharmacists are being promoted to consultancy cadre after undergoing rigorous residency trainings. Why should ours be different despite our abysmally low life expectancy?? The goal of the Pharm.D program is NOT to take over the roles of the physicians like some insecure physicians think. Rather it is to train more clinically oriented Pharmacists who will not only make the drugs but will also have better understanding of diseases so they can assist the physicians in identifying health problems that occur during treatments with drugs. It has been found that during the course of treatment with drugs, alot of problems could arise leading to treatment failures, prolonged hospital stay, increased cost of treatment, injury and permanent disability to the patient or outright death. Hence, the roles of the pharmacist now encompass pinpointing these problems and calling the attention of the treating physician to them in a professional manner. THE PATIENT is the one who benefits immensely from this. Now, since the Nigerian physicians -- through their colleagues who head most of our health institutions, have constituted themselves as clogs in the wheels of progress of our healthcare system, it is high time the government took bold steps to improve the fortunes of our healthcare system. The new administration of president Tinubu must endeavor to do things differently this time and not toe same line as his predecessors who ignorantly or wilfully lent themselves as tools of oppression and destruction of our healthcare system while ironically pouring funds into a disarrayed system. The president must first OVERHAUL the leadership of our health system, starting from the ministry of health down to the lowest leadership hierarchy. Seasoned and unbiased ADMINISTRATORS should be appointed ministers of health. Non healthcare practioners such as Accountants, Lawyers and others who also possess post graduate qualifications in administration should be appointed into headship of our health institutions while the different professional groups should have DIRECTORS who are answerable to the MANAGERS. These DIRECTORS would now liaise with the MANAGERS when the need arises. This arrangement would not only greatly improve healthcare delivery but would entrench industrial harmony in our healthcare system. The different healthcare professionals would be on their toes to outperform the others, hence a more robust and productive healthcare system would be achieved. |
By having Sullivan Chime around, Mbah is clearly making a statement that he wants to deviate from the agbero style of politics being played by the Ebeano crew. He should keep it up. I'm sure if he toes the right path, even the forces of nature would help him win the court case. We're watching |
While I salute former governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for some positive impacts he was able to make in Enugu state, I must state that the OBIDIENT MOVEMENT was a positive one especially in Enugu state. Thanks to the OBIDIENTS, we now have a state assembly that is potentially workable since the majority of the members are of the Labor party. Such a legislative assembly when properly harnessed, will ensure that the executive works for the benefit of the people. I just hope they won't fall for any bait that might be thrown their way by governor Mbah in a bid to rubber-stamp them. |
