complexstuffs: Did you even read the post at all?
Did you not see that it was the man being accused of rape that has gone to court? Why are the accusers not yet in court but the one being accused is the one already in court Do you understand power relations? Professor vs poor students? Oh I forgot, hope of common man. Yeah, why didn't the okadaman go to court when his landlord moved mad. Since Ndifon is in court, why is the minister being a meddlesome busybody and lining up witnesses to exculpate the prof? If you change your story, I will personally jail you. Is she the judge? Or the head of the school panel? |

Throwback: But she was involved by nature of her ministry or some other way we do not know.
What is constant in her admonition to the supposed victim, is that the "truth" she told the minister which the minister recorded, must be the same "truth" she must maintain onwards. And you can't see a girl CORNERED by a powerful woman oozing out of that conversation? If this was a court case already, do you know the minister could be charged with contempt of court? |

Basicend: But the minister has already cornered the young student na. . Na intimidation be dat. . She doesn't have a choice now than to say what the minister insists. .
Well, let the truth prevail. . At least, there's a sensible person who also sees what's really going on here. A minister calling students. While the panel is sitting. |
Politics › Re: Uju Kennedy Threatens To Jail UNICAL Student Over Sexual Harassment Allegations by JuanDeDios: 8:12pm On Sep 12, 2023 |
Throwback: But the recorded conversation transcript shows that the Minister is only after the truth and cautioning the student not to "recant" whatever truth that she had disclosed earlier without knowledge that the minister was recording.
We all want the truth, not weaponized allegations.
I just remembered that the social media generation is never interested in the truth, just sensationalism. She's not after the truth. She's after exonerating the man. She's a powerful woman coercing people to say what she wants and then holding that up as the truth that must not be recanted. How do I know? Because of the jail threat and the fact it's not her job to intimate witnesses while a duly constituted panel is sitting. |

Let me tell you what will happen on election day.
It is only voters of the APC that will be allowed to vote that date. Infact Thadeus himself fit no see voting vote. . All security agencies will be deployed and massive voter suppression will happen.
It is easier to rig on staggered elections like reruns than General elections because all forces will be deployed to make it happen
Mark this down, If the reruns happens, He should just say "sope otilo" I just heard it's a SUPPLEMENTARY election to be held only in areas where election could not hold (barring judgment reversal on appeal, of course). If that happens, it seems a context between Thaddeus and Banky given the figures on ground. But I guess anything is possible around here. |

OAFMods: Comment from your likes is why I will support Tinubu if another round of election is called ahead of the likes of Osibanjo or Peter Obi.
Nigeria needs a man with balls who can put institution that will tame corruption in place, Tinubu can do that but no guarantees that he will but you see Obi n Osibanjo they are too lily-livered like Ebele n can do anything rock solid for Nigeria. Reason why if it's not Tinubu it's either Amechi or Fashola for me. I get your point. But I don't agree that those two are lily-livered. Osinbajo, in particular, has shown guts in the past. He's the silent type you underestimate at your own risk. Ask Mamman Daura (or what do they call that DSS guy?) I actually doubt Tinubu can go the whole hog of probing NNPC. Yes, he has guts, but what about the unburied skeletons in his closet? Someone like Osinbajo would be less susceptible to blackmail and better placed to do it. But time will tell. |

is it "right noises" that fix security?
how has Tinubu " demonstrated sound knowledge of what needs to be done about our tax system"?

wirinet: Still continuing on red herring arguments. If you have studied how run off elections are conducted, you will know that run offs are won by simple majority. Run off elections are held by the two leading candidates after a general election where the winning candidate out of multiple candidates was able to win 25% in 2/3 states.
A runoff is won by simple majority.
Please explain what is meant by "IN MATTERS OF JUDICIAL INTERPRETATION".
Please stop going on the tangent by introducing more red herrings. We are not talking about what each state contribute to the country, we are discussing the status and rights of the people of FCT to choose their political leaders, and if they are granted any special status in Nigeria.
Many Governorship elections had been won at the courts purely on technical grounds, David Lyon was sacked by the Supreme Court basically because his deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, presented false information to the Independent National Electoral Commission. I know how runoffs are run. And it only demonstrates the ludicrousness of the 25% argument. I mean, if a runoff is held between, say Tinubu and Obi, and Obi wins in every other material way but scores 24.67% of Abuja while Tinubu wins 75.33% of Abuja but loses in every material way, what then happens? You’re much too smart not to have seen this is where I was going when I talked of the constitutional problems that will be created by 25%. Unless you’re saying the old rule of runoffs (simple majority) then applies and Abuja and its people suddenly lose their specialness. Ludicrous. The argument about contribution is logical if one part of the country is to be given special status. Not sure why you think it’s a red herring. Where does the constitutional provide for “special status for the PEOPLE of Abuja”? People of FCT. People of Nigeria. What sections of the constitution confer privileges on the one but not on the other in these matters that can help us out here? (I can show you the law that equates Abuja to other states). And is there a precedent - e.g., when Lagos was federal capital, did its residents have supervotes? Do the residents of London or Washington DC exercise veto votes over the rest of the country? Fair point about technicalities. Yes, cases are won on them every day of the week. I just don’t buy it. You either won an election or you lost. But this isn’t about my views. What I said to you is that if you say you won an election then you rely on technicalities, you risk being laughed out of court – as Labour and PDP were laughed out of court for their “ludicrous” arguments. Labour and PDP said they won – and the world waited for them to prove it – with ward by ward results, I scored this here, he scored this here, this is what INEC released, etc., the way Oshiomhole did. That’s your surest route to victory. And that’s why a kid of six can tell you they’re wasting their time at the Supreme Court. * To answer your Abuja interpretation question, maybe you should hear from the horse’s mouth. There’s a case, Kayode vs FCDA. Read it. |

Abrahamweb: You cannot support APC and still utter reasonable comments. You need 25% of 2/3 of the 36 states and 25% of the FCT. So according to your logic, win 25% of FCT and rest? Abi wetin you mean abeg. |
Politics › Re: PEPC Judgement: Abuja Indigenes Head To Court, To Demand Elected Gov, 3 Senators by JuanDeDios: 1:42pm On Sep 11, 2023 |
wirinet: You are introducing a red herring into the debate. Abuja indigenes are not demanding presidential candidates should focus on Abuja and ignore other states. What they are demanding is that the person holding the political office of their governor should have at least 25% of their votes, else there should be a run off. That way the governor (in the guise of the appointee of the president) will campaign for their votes and not ignore them in decision making.
That decision of the PEPC if upheld by the supreme court will have serious long term implications for Abuja and thus Nigeria as a whole. Lol. Which implications? It is when the 25% of Abuja argument is upheld that we will have serious problems - endless elections until 25% emerges since the person getting 25% of Abuja may not win enough states elsewhere to be declared winner, creating stalemates and possibly a constitutional crisis – Buhari kuku carry on since the winner haven't won Abuja yet. How this 25% argument even makes sense to anyone beats me. That decision WILL be upheld. Because it already stands, before now, that Abuja is to be TREATED AS A STATE IN MATTERS OF JUDICIAL INTERPRETATION. Every lawyer knows this – ask them. And that's only convenient and commonsensical. Not that the 25% argument even begins to make sense. Heck, Lagos State or even Delta State contributes far more to this country than Abuja. But Obi (who I rooted for in the election) and Atiku have money - let them waste it going to the Supreme Court. As an aside, if you want to know how to win an election petition, I urge you to go study the case between Oshiomhole (AC) and Osunbor (PDP) (following the 2007 gubernatorial election in Edo State). Present your case the way Oshiomhole did, prove that you WON, and no court can deny you victory. Rely on technicalities (he forfeited money, he went to Chicago, he did not win 25% of Abuja, etc.) and run the risk of being laughed out of court. |

So there is absolutely nothing an Apc member will say that I will take seriously Who is an APC member? And who gives a damn about Buhari? CS has eluded you people. Go on reading into the Constitution what it doesn't say. In fact, go on and write a new constitution that if a candidate doesn't win Abuja or get a certain number of votes there, his opponent should be sworn in. |

Programmer47: Na constitution write am bros but since them don decide to interpret am the way dem like then sure, let's update our constitution to read 37 states. lexy2014: Which idea does he have of what needs to be done? Can u pls share?
How has he demonstrated that he has these ideas? The exchange rate unification was a good idea. Is a good idea. Yet the President doesn't even seem to have noticed how the CBN spectacularly messed it up by retaining the "I&E Window", retaining Meffy's "list of prohibited items", and shunning BDCs, a situation that quickly returned the exchange dichotomy, with profiteers having a field day. The acting CBN governor shouldn't have a job by now. The President knows security has to be fixed - he's made the right noises. Yet he has not made or even proposed any radical changes to our securocracy. He has demonstrated sound knowledge of what needs to be done about our tax system. The issue of multiple taxation is a sick child that needs to be cured for businesses to thrive. The jury is still out on execution. He understands the value of international trade, but I'm not aware that all the Buhari-era strictures have been removed. Fuel subsidy removal is a necessity. But that has been poorly executed - when the President said "subsidy is gone", local refining wasn't in sight and zero measures were in place to cushion the effects. Today, the masses are paying the price, people are loosing their jobs and businesses are going under. I could go on all day. |
