dominique: I honestly thought the ticket would be between Kwankwaso, Tambuwal and Saraki. The Atikulation noise was not as loud this year compared to last year so I totally dismissed him as a strong candidate. Congrats to him sha, he can't possibly handle Nigeria any worse than it is currently being handled. Unfortunately, bolded is true. I'd wager he's better than characters like Saraki, though. |

HungerBAD: If Atiku emerges, the APC has a fight in their hands.
I mean, if Atiku emerges the flagbearer of the PDP, every single vote in Nigeria will be fought for to the end.
I was wishing it will be Saraki, which would have been a walk in the park for the APC. But an Atiku victory at their convention? there is too much Anti-Buhari sentiment around, that a cunny old fox like Atiku can tap into and utilize.
I am just a realist, who has suddenly come to the logical conclusion that it is only an Atiku that has the war-chest to match the APC anywhere in Nigeria.
Hopefully Tambuwal wins, and we avert a nightmare scenario.
So let me repeat this to all APC members. Atiku Abubakar is not a walk in the park, as he knows his way around the Federal and State system of working.
This man single handedly formed the powerful wing of the PDP(PDM) even If Obasanjo used his Presidential powers to push him out.
It is an ELECTION in 2019.
Modified:
someone just said I am naive, and that Buhari has a solid base than Atiku, and one said they will open the CBN to just take money and fight Atiku. To the 2 of you, this was the same thing said about Buhari.
He was a serial loser. He had no political base. He had no money. You guys keep forgetting the anger and anti-sentiments against Jonathan by Nigerians. As an APC supporter,I will be the first to tell you a lot of Nigerians are angry with Buhari, and the APC should get their act together before the election or we lose it to Atiku.
Let us stop deceiving ourselves it is well. Your analysis is spot on. Picking an ethnic irridentist like Kwankwaso or a bank robber like Saraki would amount to "dashing" it to Buhari. Atiku is the way to go. |

How many of u are with me in this? You want to replace one ethnic irridentist with another one? Atiku has his issues but he's a far better candidate. |

madridsta007: But history will tell you that it is even the black people that sold black people into slavery. If the white people had come and the black people resisted it, they won’t have had their field day. This slavery became a form of entrepreneurship for some set of black people and they gathered some other black people to sell into slavery.
It is sad that this narrative of “black people selling themselves”, which has gained traction within Western academic circles is being perpetuated by blacks— based on an assumption which history in its full context does not support.
Understandably, there would be attempts to revisionise an event as tragic and genocidic as the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade. Anyone strongly linked with that gruesome part of history would certainly look to find a way of riding himself of that history. I recall when this revisionist argument was put forward to Achebe; his reply was succinct; “the white men that were at the shores of Africa, did they come for a summer holiday on the beaches?”
Of course not. They came prepared; guns, metal shackles, bayonets, etc, items you would use to subjugate something which you do not confer similar humanity upon. Items for domination, victimisation and molestation. This they started and found thriving. Vast trading routes were opened up— to Southampton and Liverpool, UK; Portugal; United States and South America. The colonisers, experts at indirect rule, needed to increase their market. It was then that chiefs wee forced to give up and catch the weakest or the most unwanted of their fellow blacks— for money, gold and power as returns.
Chiefs who resisted, like Jaja of Opobo were dethroned and banished, eyes gouged out. Others, seeing that punishment had to comply.
It’s all in history books, if anyone bothers to read. It’s important young blacks own and tell their stories not to be dictates of the revisionists, but to the truth. Apart from this simplistic take on the issue of responsibility for the translatlantic slave trade, something else I found troubling is her thesis that slavery was somewhat good because there are black Americans. Seriously! Unfortunately, it's people with Badmus' quality of thinking you often find in positions of authority in Nigeria. |

ojiebaba: Mtcheeeeeeew dis guy is not trying at all, celebrated his birthday on a low key, who would have gone for the birthday b4,
i am from ubiaja, that guy has turned our palace to something else, no more customs and traditions, cultists are now our palace guards, you will see them holding meetings in the old palace where his father and grandfather lived and ruled, no more respects for traditions, he don't even know his uncles and aunties, the ones who were supposed to put him through, our customs says that the mother of a king must not stay in the palace, sadly his mother and her man friend and her brother are the ones ruling and passing judgements in the palace, and the king is hardly seen in the palace, for those say he has been since 4, is a lie though he inherited the throne at four, but he gave his uncle the crown to serve as a ragent, because he was too young then, he assumed the throne 3 or 4 years ago. Sadly the elders are watching him, after giving him words of wisdom, and he refused to accept it, and the politicians are using him, giving chieftancy titles to those who can afford it, even when they don't worth, the youths are angry, but there is not they can do, they are watching,
i hope this gets to him, one man can't make a country, please handle your community well, you are young and vibrant, happy birthday, that pinging picture though. This is unfortunate, if true. But Ubiaja has been very unlucky with this king matter since the death of Elabor I in 1921. You could even say their wahala started before then with the conflict between Prince Ugbesea and Chief Obinyan. The only time of relative stability was the time of Abumere (Eghoje II), but even he was seen as weak and ineffectual. I heard Prince Iredia was summoned by the kingmakers (elders of egbele nenen) to assume the throne because they thought the regent was misruling. But I guess this is the disadvantage of primogeniture. |

Large swathes of land are prone to quakes - it's not usually a problem of single buildings or even a few buildings. If that was it, I doubt so many would be dying. Would you evacuate the whole or most of Japan, California or Mexico? Even places that not ordinarily prone to earthquakes can be hit by a tsunami wave, which is the subject of this thread. |

In the past Lagos have had a convicted drug dealer as governor, allowing a mental patient to be governor would be stretching it.
*Modified* For those asking for it, below is a photocopy of Tinubu’s indictment letter. So if someone has a problem - say, depression or anxiety or teenage experimentation with hemp - and he is referred to a psychiatrist, he should not be allowed to live his life? He should be barred from political office? And it's okay for a hospital to realise such information to a politician? Do you people think at all? |

WetinConsignMe: But is it right? And if u don't consign yourself with it how can it be changed? It is like Adeleke with F9. Of all the erudite people we have why must we choose the one person who can't speak simple correct English to be gov?! A guy like Adeleke who could not pass a single paper in WAEC has no business aspiring to be a governor, and I have made that argument on this forum. It's not right. But that's a different matter from making a few grammatical errors in a fairly long write-up. Compared to people from other African countries, Nigerians generally speak and write bad English. An average Nigerian speaks and writes badly, even when he is smart in other areas. This does not on its own mean he can't make a good governor. That is why a smart person would look at other parameters like Mr Sanwo-Olu's articulation skills. |

I won't waste my time telling you what I think of Buhari, Ambode, Tinubu, Nigerian politicians in general, and your types. From the moment you enter Nigeria from the airport, you begin to see poorly written documents. It's there in almost every governor's speech. Is that what you want me to "consign" myself with? I've long accepted it as the way things are. But you want to focus on it, be my guest. When I saw Sanwo-Olu's write-up, I simply appreciated the articulation of his points and ignored the grammatical errors - which isn't so bad, by the way, compared to what you often see around here. |

To the well informed people in the house, is Rice and yam low carb diet? What are the other low carb food that i can eat that would not make me miss my regulars. I would appreciate anyone willing to give a certified advice.
Thank you in anticipation. Rice and yam are high carb foods. Many think beans and plantain are low carb foods, but they're not. One way around the problem is to eat more of vegetables and meat. For example, you can eat half the normal size of rice you and fill up your plate with cabbage and lettuce. You can eat half your normal serving of pounded yam and eat more of egusi and vegetable soup. Also consider replacing white rice with brown rice. But if you're dealing with a serious weight problem you may consider going keto for a period. |

truthfulparrot: What most people failed to realised is that PMB and the Cabal in the presidency are never comfortable with Tinubu and will subtulely support any moves to cut his influence by taking away Lagos from him. Tinubu is smart and he is aware that he is presently fighting the battle of his life!
The Presidency is also aware of the chess game that PDP is playing. PDP is not interested in having Ambode as their presidential candidate. They are only waiting for APC to make the mistake of not giving Ambode the return tickets so that they can come with their own joker which may likely be Otedola. Mark my words, APC will still postpone Lagos, Imo and Kano governorship primary.
These are interesting times. I have resolved not to support APC or PDP. I have lost faith in INEC and Nigerians politicians. I will sit back and enjoy the politicians destroy themselves. A new dawn will soon come! I agree with most of your permutations. But a new dawn hasn't come. While Tinubu vs Aso Rock Cabal will be interesting to watch, one side will win and neither side is good. Unfortunately, the PDP, our formal national looting party, is not an option and other parties are too small to win. I don't think the cabal can defeat Tinubu in Lagos anyway. |
