Thanks for all the advise and guidance offered on this forum, its been a great help.please i need ur help/advice.Am about to apply for my tier 4(general) visa but my old passport, which is ano e-passport has been replaced with a new one.i've made a previous application for a visiting visa to the uk in 2009 which was refused.on d tier 4 application form, there's a place they asked for home office reference number for previous applications and sincerely,i don't ave dt again as all d documents relating to dt application has been destroyed(by d july 10,2011 flood) i only ave my old passport number with me. D old passport has been collected back by immigrations.pls what can i do?
If you can't remember the previous homeoffice Ref its not a prob, write down the old passport number when asked.

Your previous refusal will not affect your current application but if you are asked about previous refusal don't forget to mention it.

AjanleKoko: Anywhere that holds the opportunity for them to work after their study. If you're going to spend millions of naira studying in another country, then they should at least give you the opportunity to earn some of it back. In some of the Nordic nations, and Germany, there is free tuition. So people can go there and study for almost nothing, get the experience of living in a foreign country, and then come back to Nigeria or go elsewhere if they so desire.

As much as this may not sound palatable, the 'anywhere' could also be Nigeria. At least we now have private varsities offering postgraduate degrees.

Another issue is what people are studying. All this 'management' this and that. Nigeria needs really skilled people. Opportunities are actually opening up in agriculture, for example, energy, and construction. But you have Chinese and Indians, Filipinos and Malaysians being shipped in to do these jobs. But they are field jobs, hard work, not suited to the average Nigerian youth.

So people need to study practical skilled disciplines, and they will get the opportunities eventually. If you need to study, go somewhere that won't mean you breaking the bank or selling your soul to get there. Truth is, people going to the UK are trying to migrate, and not really intending to study anything. I know someone who went to Canada on a 1 year diploma course, and never returned. I haven't heard from him since, but I hope he's tried to integrate into the available opportunities in Canada. As opposed to skirting around looking for glam jobs which probably aren't available.
Since Germany and other Nordic nations gives free education why are people not trooping in to those countries?

Your point about people studying management course doesn't add up, a good manager is what makes the different between a successful organisation and a failed one, companies like Google, Apple, Yahoo. . etc are successful because of good management, you may have a good idea/product but if you got no managerial skill then it bound to die unknown.

No single company can survive without a good management, it takes skills to manage a company.

Up until this year, UK Govt gives every foreign graduate the opportunity to work 2yrs after graduation, during your degree you are given the opportunity to go for work placement in your second year and gain some work experiences, some universities gives paid internship at Msc level and you are allowed to work 20hrs during school term and full-time during the holidays.

Why does Nigerian Govt not give Nigerian students any of those opportunities?

AjanleKoko: You obviously miss the point.
Point is, the majority of Nigerian students are not really benefiting anything from studying in the UK.
Someone said you could get grants and small business loans from the UK, as opposed to Nigeria. And my response is, that can't possibly be true, unless you are a citizen of that country, or at least have some legal right of abode. Studentship does not automatically confer that right, last time I checked.

Whether you pay 1.2m naira more or less, fact is, you will still pay to study in the UK. The actual cost of your studentship is moot.
Where do you advice Nigerian students to go and study that will be more beneficial to them?
Travel › Re: Are Nigerian Student Visa Applications To UK Mostly Bogus? by justwise(mod): 11:48am On Jul 19, 2012
AjanleKoko: Haba, bros.
Discount na benefit? Don't pay 20k GBP, pay 15kGBP. Is that a benefit?
Who knows if the school's cost wasn't more than 5k GBP in the first place?
Equivalent of 1.2m naira discount is nothing? Are you kidding me? That will take care of your rent and bills as a student for a whole year in the UK

MeNutty: @ just wise,u're such a wonderful person, God bless u big, I have a concern, I submitted my application few days ago and the name on my personal statement of acct. Is slightly diff from d name on d rest of my docs for instance d name on d rest of my docs says Adebiyi Temi Esther, and d name on my acct statement says Adebiyi Temitope Esther, and I didn't get any cover letter from d bank nor did I point it out in d additional information, hope it won't pose any problem?
If you met all requirements then the ECO will not deny you visa because of that, it becomes a prob when other documents have different names but in this case its only one, so i expect you to be ok.

AjanleKoko: That sounds like UK students who are citizens.
What about Nigerians on student visa? Do they also get loans and grants? If they do, the UK is definitely Santa Claus. No wonder their debt to GDP ratio is like 80%.
Foreign students don't get loans or grants but they do get fees discounts from their respective schools.

Although labourious, the Modify button is it for now. Probably serves you right small for not taking a little care with ur info. Deleting history has never been an easy task even for empires.

@Seun and his team
This is a concern you should heed. But don't be in a hurry to adopt new formats, neither should you be complacent about 'disappearing peoples histories'. Please spend some 'quality' time doing some intensive research on the implications of both to: posters, other commentators, guest viewers, NL business model, 'thread sense' etc.
Any sensible individual will know that you don't drop your personal details or say things you wouldn't want the public to read in public forum, nothing is secret online, you don't hold the owner of the site responsible for your own irresponsible actions.

You are such a lousy drama queen. Deactivating account does not mean that all your post will not be visible to people when they do a simple search. If you don't want your post to be visible to anybody then delete it or don't post it at all.

Whenever you post anything in a public forum it becomes public material and anybody can see it, Seun is not exposing your email address or your phone number, you did and its your responsibility to modify your personal details.

If you think that you can take anybody to court for this then you are having a nightmare, if i were Seun i will say . . see you in court.

Odunnu has a valid point, deactivating your account will not stop anybody from getting back all your previous posts. That is simply to do.

What Seun suggested is the best option, deleting your post is the only way you can solve it. As long as a single word you typed here or anywhere online still exist one can still see it yrs after you deactivated your account.

If you feel that some post exposes you then delete it and stop dropping your email address or phone number on public forum.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Syrian Defense Minister Killed In Suicide Blast by justwise(m): 8:59am On Jul 19, 2012
thoth: An excerpt from KN Watch Intelligence dispatch for yesterday.
Syria: Special comment. As usual it is impossible to discern the extent or gravity of the fighting based on Syrian opposition reporting and repeated by mainstream western media. For example, western media broadcast video images of a handful of kids shooting wildly from behind a stack of sand bags. No force under fire has time to fill bags with sand, stack them chest high and then begin shooting in the middle of a real fight. This image, which was repeated often, obviously was staged. Then there are the videos of burning tires. Readers now know that the opposition lights tires on fire to simulate fighting, because of the black smoke. The lesson from the past 18 months is that tires on fire means there is no fighting. Kids shooting wildly from behind a stack sand bags and burning tires always mean a staged scene.

You must be a teenager.

Should I take my passport at VFS or give the specs to a photographer?

These ones need answering too....pls good pple!
They will use the exchange rate of the day you submitted your application. Write out the exchange rate of the day you are making the application.

They will take your picture during the process of biometric just like the process of e-passport application.

Guess what happened? I planned to enrol GCE O-level for her this week but, from the information i gather i was made to understand that the enrolment for the exam will expire this week Friday. So, i told her to come an collect money on Monday to enrol for the exam. When i meant her in church on Sunday, after closing i left bacause i was in a hurry so, i told the sister that i will call her when i get home. Do you know what happen next? I called the sister through out on Sunday, she didn't pick my call so, i relax. On Monday i called althrough she didn't pick so, i relax. On Tuesday which was yesterday, i continue she didn't also pick. At around afternoon, she then called me; i then ask her if she is still interested in the exam and she said yes. I told her i will call her back but, do you know what happen next? i called these sister, she pick and said: I AM BUSY NOW CALL ME LATER? For your own destiny? That was when i just conclude that these sister is not serious about the exam so, i need to keep my money an use it for another purpose.

Take your time and read that link where it says. . . . . .

Can I apply?
You can apply under this route if:

you have sole responsibility for the child; or
if the parent or carer that the child normally lives with is a British citizen or settled in the UK, but is not your partner, and you do not qualify for entry clearance as a partner.

You must provide evidence that you either have sole responsibility for or access rights to the child or that you are taking, and intend to continue to take, an active role in the child's upbringing. The documents you need to provide are listed on the application form.

You are not solely responsible for the child.

You are still married to your wife who is looking after the child now.
