I get you bro however US using those sophisticated jets is in tandem with their "no boots on ground" philosophy. It is still touted as a waste because each of those surface to air missiles are quite expensive, imagine using a missile that costs $100k to $500k per piece to bomb some ragtag, AK47 carrying guys. It is not cost effective. However in our own case, bandits and other terrorist groups are on our soil hence we require close attack helicopters to give support to ground troops. There are other more affordable attack helicopters that get the job done, Turkey seems to be making waves with their drone capability which was quite effective judging the role played in the recent Armenia/Azerbaijan conflict. Drones and all sorts of unmanned fighters are game changers for the future. Affordable both in terms of acquisition as well as maintenance. And as drone technology proliferates, it will only get cheaper. octavian: |
Actually for bandits, you don't need this type of fighter jet. A fighter helicopter in the mould of an Apache or a Hind would suffice cos it is slower moving compared to a fighter jet and it can hit ground targets with better precision. Also, the JF17 is an omni-role fighter, it remains to be seen if the ones in service with the NAF will be adapted for ground based operations. Last I checked, bandits/herdsterrorist/BH don't have fighter jets, we don't need a JF17 against them, an attack chopper would do just fine. dederocs: |
I hope these series of events put us on a path for full restructuring/splitting of this country, amen. |
Sorry about that, I read the exercepts from IMF, although I would much prefer exercepts from a local organisation that really understands the inner workings of our petroleum sector. However, you are failing to realise the point I am making. Dangote's refinery and Bua's refinery will not solve our energy demands. They are business men, capitalists, for profit individuals. They borrowed money, which attracts interest, to build these refineries. Therefore, they are only likely to sell to the highest bidder and no one on Gods green earth has the power to stop them. I know the modular refinery referred to in your excerpt and I can confirm to you that they do not sell their products to the Nigerian market, they sell to the highest bidder. There is another in Imo state, Waltersmith. Even if these refineries exclusively sell to the Nigerian market, I don't see how it helps our currency. There are a host of other factors affecting our currency, USD demand for Oil importation is just one of it. We have lots of problems in Nigeria, let's try not to get carried away with this refinery or it being heralded as the solution to all our problems. QuotaSystem: |
Forget bpd, do Nigerians consume crude oil, what is Nigeria's total consumption of refined products. I await your answer. Plus dangote is on rumoured not to be interested in selling to the Nigerian market but to markets in other African countries. And would I blame him given the regulatory sh_itshow Nigeria is and the uncertainty in government policy. QuotaSystem: |
You are quite naive with some of your assertions. I have worked in the downstream sector of the petroleum industry. Most of what you refer to as landing costs are usually inflated and all independent marketers have a common understanding regarding this. The scenario you paint of other countries looking for Nigerian naira to trade for our petroleum products is laughable. When that time comes, you will discover that it is the gatekeepers (those in charge of implementing said policy) that will insist on other forms of currency. You seem to discard precedence, the cement industry being a very good example of how localised production does not translate to lower prices. My problem with the average Nigerians is how we fawn at and are fixated upon projects such as a refinery - 20th century engineering development. So you are claiming that this refinery will bail the entire country out of years upon years of its collective stupidity and gross incompetence. We probably need 10 refineries of this particular size that not only guarantee our energy needs but also help our balance of trade and our currency. To the best of my knowledge, only BUA and Dangote are building refineries of such a capacity, others are smaller in size and do not make a huge impact upon overall demand. Last I checked, Dangote was a capitalist not a socialist, you really think he will sell petroleum products for less when he can sell for more Is his cement business not the best of indicators of what he will do when said refinery starts working Nigerians so love a fairytale ending when in reality it is never so simple. One thing you are removing from this overall equation is the human element. Humans through collusion can cause even the most foolproof systems to fail. And Nigerians have shown consistently that they do not want development. On the surface, it appears to be a good plan but in a country such as Nigeria, who knows what tomorrow holds. QuotaSystem: |

There must be a screw loose somewhere inside your head if you read the original post and came about the conclusion below. CSTRR: |
It is common knowledge and was well known that MBS ordered the killing of Kashoggi. Mind you the investigation and report were all done under Trump's administration. Trump simply sat on the report, Biden simply released the report. Turkey had said before now that it was MBS and they had the evidence to back it up. MBS was also behind the tracking of Jeff Bezos (and allegedly hacking of his phone) which led to his extra marital affair being exposed. I think it was in response to Bezos pushing to know who killed Kashoggi, who was until his death an employee of the Washington Post, Bezos's media house. Eriokanmi: |
US dollars can be used for illegal purposes. British pounds can be used for illegal purposes. It is a means of exchange and you guys are just jittery because the US Dollar is the strength upon which the US economy relies on. Bitcoin is a threat to that and it is clearly why you will never accept it. |
Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan's rumoured 2023 presidential ambition is simply the fastest vehicle that allows the Hausa-Fulani continue their domination of the state of affairs in this geographical entity called Nigeria. They prefer GEJ because constitutionally he can only serve 4 years (a single term). Which means most certainly he will relinquish power for, you guessed right, a candidate of Northern extraction (non other than El-Rufai APC or whatever it will be called or Atiku, Lamido, Tambuwal PDP). Nigerians are so carried away with APC vs PDP, they forget one very important fact, Hausa-Fulanis control both parties. It is simply a question of picking your poison. These horse trading have absolutely nothing to do with who has the right solution to the problems that affect us, it is simply about gaining power for power sake and looting to perpetuity. Nigeria is and continues to be a failed state, because of the aforementioned. |
Better if we talk about splitting this country, an Osinbajo President will mean absolutely nothing for the Yoruba people or for anyone that votes for him. Nigeria's problems are beyond what any one man can solve. The foundation was faulty from the get go, I can argue we never had a foundation to begin with. Splitting this country is the best solution that ultimately guarantees each region a chance at building for a better tomorrow. And I know say we split now, the dream will not be realised in our lifetime, but it will have been a worthy resolution. Jman06: |
True however also true is the fact that the northern cabal you mentioned also answer to some foreign powers. In the end everyone has a boss, only a handful of men on God's green earth answer to no one but themselves. And I despise Tinubu and his politics more than you may care to know. fykes: |

At this rate, the government should literally just point a gun at each Nigerian citizen and rob them. Even if you give Nigerian leaders all the money on God's green earth, Nigeria will continue to remain the same. When you elect questionable characters into positions of authority, this is what happens. Now I truly understand why leaders of serious-minded countries are scrutinised to the smallest detail. Oh I forgot, Nigeria is hardly even a country. |
I think you must have dropped from your mother's back as a child. tsephanyah: |

What has come to the South west has also come to the South east and South south so your premise of Yoruba people bringing this upon themselves is childish and mischievous at best. Yorubas may have voted for Buhari in 2015 but did every single Yoruba vote for Buhari? What about in 2019 where it was clear the elections were rigged in places such as Lagos, Osun and Ekiti, did Yorubas still vote for Buhari? I guess your expectation is that Yorubas should vote the way Igbos vote or the way the South South vote, whereas you fail to mention that before Buhari, the SW has been the greatest swing region in the entire country, voting pattern cannot be predicted as we have voted for both parties at different times. What you do not realise is at the moment all of the Southern leadership are sellouts. The events in Ondo, Oyo and Ogun are also happening in Enugu, Imo and Ebonyi. The only difference is ESN is a private sponsored body whereas Amotekun was created by the same politicians who are trying to play both sides. But overall to you, I say, be careful, be cautious. You may not like Yorubas as is evidenced from your post and there as many such as yourself (just as there are many Yorubas who do not like Igbos) but don't go celebrating when such things are happening. History has shown that it can happen anywhere to anybody. Let us be guided in our utterances and I would say the same thing if you were a Yoruba person cheering on the same thing if it were to happen in the SE or SS. plusfield: |

But there is something wrong in dialoguing with IPOB and ESN. |
It is personal but why the hell should any well meaning Nigerian care what these two do to each other. My view as a Yoruba man is, I do not wish both of them well, whether it is Mr Acid Rain/ Ministry of Happiness or Mr I am more Fulani than the Fulani themselves. They are simply two fat mouths who add zero to the overall development and growth of the Igbo people. seunmsg: |
Unfortunately they do and worse still the people from the states you mentioned are not united across borders so they cannot speak with one voice. It is actually one of the weapons the Fulani have used to wage war on them till date. okeyglm: |
Ask yourself, if the Fulani One Nigeria is only a rouse to keep the Hausa-Fulani in power till perpetuity and to advance their interests to the detriment of everyone else. Only a thoroughly dumb and lost soul would continue to blindly support Nigeria as it is presently constituted. Nigeria can never amount to anything useful as long as the Hausa-Fulani are at the helm of affairs of this nation. It will not matter who becomes President, whether a Yoruba, Ijaw, Igbo, Tiv, Anang, Ibibio or Igala. It will not matter if such a person has the best of intentions, inso far as we continue to be joined at the waist with the Hausa-Fulani, Nigeria will continue upon this path of self-destruction. |
Hahahahahahahahahahaha. Abeg bro, no kill me with laughter here abeg. The fool does not have a wasted week, he has a wasted life. JoeEeL: |
Because Governors have political ambitions. Rearing of Cows are a business dominated by the Fulani, they see it as part and parcel of their way of life. Hence, by extension, the Fulanis must be appeased if anything happens to their Cows. Afterall, for now they are the ones in control of Nigeria's power structure as handed over to them by the British. So the Sultan of Sokoto approve, the Fulani Ruling Elite must approve, otherwise you (career politician) will never rise to nothing. The farmers you refer to spread across Nigeria are, or represent mostly the interests of, middle-income earners in Nigeria. They do not wield any real political force of their own. They are not a group or bloc, they do not vote as a group or bloc, they do not control anything per se.The herdsmen you see represent the interests of the Hausa-Fulani Elite. This Elite controls the Presidency, the Presidency control all apparatus of government and the Hausa-Fulani Elite control their horde of underaged and foreign voters in the North. As a career politician in Nigeria today, you need the backing/approval of Hausa-Fulani elite to win elections on the Federal level. I hope this answers your question. AkalaJ: |

Abiodun said: “We must use the opportunity of this parley to tell ourselves the truth, not necessarily by apportioning blame, but definitely we must come up with more practical and viable recommendations that will further cement the peaceful coexistence that we have always had in Ogun State. “Those fomenting the crisis are said to be non-residents in our state. Unfortunately, the crisis has been exacerbated by some undesirable elements within and outside the state that whipped up ethnic sentiments. “They sneak in at night, wreak havoc and retreat after their evil acts. In whatever form, colour or ethnic group, a criminal is a criminal. We condemn all forms of crimes and criminality, regardless of the ethnicity of the perpetrators.” Only yesterday, Abiodun inaugurated a 20-man Peace Keeping Committee on the farmers and herders clashes in the state. So condemning all forms of crimes and criminality will suffice? So describing who the perpetrators of these heinous acts are and how they carry out their demonic acts is the solution? First he said these terrorists were outsiders, now he has inaugurated a 20-man peace keeping committee between farmers and herders (same outsiders). The enemy is at the gate and my people are still casually playing politics. Oh my God, how did we get here, how did we ever come to this. |
I get you bro but you can never expect anyone of these leaders of Fulani heritage to come out with the truth. The closest we will get to the truth is what the Sultan of Sokoto said where he admitted that 7 out of 10 kidnappers were Fulani but still turned around to blame other tribes for being complicit. In the end, remember what I told you once about we Yorubas needing to start preparing for war. I still stand by it and I have history as my evidence. These events are not just a flash in the pan, they are part of a grand scheme. It may not unfold in our lifetime but eventually it will unfold and by then it will be too late. The Fulanis are like the Vulture, a very patient bird, they play the long game. If we do not nip this in the bud right now by supporting to split this country, I fear 2 to 3 generations from now, we may not have a place on this earth to comfortably call our home. LegendHero: |
