Animation not necessary. Menus just don't do it . The layout doesnt look good. You might want to re-design it, But I can't blame you much, since this could be your first try on web design. wink
Webmasters / Re: Google Adsense by kazey(m): 7:13pm On Jun 09, 2006
Two reasons.

1."Made for AdSense" sites are not permitted under the AdSense program rules. You might get banned.

2.Adsense has a "low ROI" policy so if your sites are just for adsense, they don't allow for "high paying" keywords to be advertised on your site.
Webmasters / Re: Google Adsense by kazey(m): 6:50pm On Jun 09, 2006
This is easy, and so much fun! shocked

First, create one or more Adsense niche websites. Then sell them for an unbelievably great price - you know, 200 sites for $9.95. Throw in lots of bonuses. Limit them to 200 or 500 packages.

Then, in the instructions, say:
Here’s how to change the Adsense code to your own:
1. Get your Google Adsense Code (if you do not have one then set-up an account with Google Adsense)
2. Open your website templates with an HTML editor and replace my Adsense Code with your own.
3. Once you publish your web pages online, your adverts will show and any clicks on them will result in you getting a commission.

Let the newbie do that, pay for a domain name, pay for hosting, and bust their butts submitting articles for traffic, or empty their wallets buying Adwords.

Now, here's the kicker. The Adsense code on the index page is theirs, so anyone who clicks on an ad on that page will pay them. This will give them a small amount of steady income, so they won't call the FTC on you.

But all the links on the index page are your original links, and when clicked will send the surfer to your internal pages, so all the internal Adsense clicks and affiliate commissions will come to you! The newbie sucker will change the Adsense code on their copy of all those internal link pages, but the surfer will never see the newbie's pages.

Har, har har!

Just be sure you never tell them in the instructions to change all the URLs as well as the Adsense code.

Business / Re: Interswitch! Are They Really Making Difference In Nigeria? by kazey(m): 8:57pm On Jun 07, 2006
Interswitch is not making the difference for 2 main reasons.

1. Their gateways enrollment fee cost more than 1000USD which is way higher than any merchant account in the Universe.

2. They are not ready to help aspiring developers by making their API's readily available

Interswitch is a typical Nigerian mentality of e-commerce at work, and it does not help an aspiring web entrepreneur in any way.

The issue of possible security risks on the customer part is another great concern, the only reason why we are soo caught up with the idea is because it hasnt been widely deployed. The system is heavily flawed but because of obvious reasons I wont list them down here.

Alexa ranking is the most unreliable statistical system on the net. I think google has more traffic than yahoo.

@kazey, your explanation makes sense but why is there no chart depicting a period more than 5 days?

Forex tradings occur 5 days in a week, besides Nigeria does not really trade that much on the UK shores to have that regular pounds to want to convert to Naira or the other way round everyday smiley
Business / Re: Soccer Bookmaking Web Portal: Great Business Idea by kazey(m): 1:31am On Jun 06, 2006
Scratch card would be capital intensive, besides nationwide distribution. Its a beautiful model but there are a lot of things we are missing, running a betting site, is not as easy as it sounds, if you have about 100,000 betters for example. smiley

Poverty is at its peak in Nigeria, even within a church congregation. Or are you saying you dont have the poor in your church that can hardly eat?
Religion / Re: Pastor Chris Floats Airline, TV Station & Fast Food Outlet by kazey(m): 8:40pm On Jun 05, 2006
Oh its in one of my business dream. Kazey's Fellowship. The slogan, would be a cheaper church to attend. We would have free flow of hotel food every sunday, and all you need to do is dance to the music, sing praises to God, Shout Hallelujah, and pay just 5% a 50% reduction as ordained by God to me, through the holly Spirit.

God has decided to give Nigerians discount. Hallelujah !!

The whole of yahoo was not written in PHP. The core of Yahoo is CGI.some new services provided by yahoo are written in PHP.

And CGI maintains its architechture? Am I missing something here?

Adverts / Re: Forex Charts For The Naira by kazey(m): 3:14pm On Jun 05, 2006
the gap in the graph indicates activity periods where there is a certain surge due to a very high demand for a specific currency by a big player such as the bank etc, during that period the price does not follow an increasing pattern, just a crazy offer is made to purchase that particular currency and hence there is a missing area which is created by progressive increase or decrease in prices or value. Watch the rise and drop carefully, and you would get the idea.

Normal players don't get to deal during that particular period, because its happens so fast, and its for one particular trade or offer.

Travel / Re: Wannabes Abroad by kazey(m): 11:44pm On Jun 03, 2006
Ok there is something I dont quiet understand about this thread. What is wrong with having a foreign accent? Does that make you a wannabe? Having a foreign accent does not make you a wannabe !!

I think just by looking into the lifestyle of a typical so called "civilised" and "educated" Nigerian, you have the Wannabe at display, and that is just within Nigeria. The dressing (durags, hiphop clothings, timbs etc), the flow, etc its all fake !!

When i say success, i wasnt talking about profitabilty and wealth is not a way of measuring achivements in most cases. Its quite sure that google is the biggest search engine as at today and Yahoo is the most successful website and they hold the largest mail accounts in the world.

Are you sure?

From what I know MSN Hotmail is the world's largest free webmail e-mail service. smiley Yahoo is not no 1 at anything, please note that.

According to Forbes Magazine, Hotmail is the biggest webmail provider with 33 percent of the market, Yahoo's share is 30 percent, and Gmail is 3rd with 4 percent of the market.

Webmasters / Re: Attension Web Host! by kazey(m): 4:56pm On Jun 01, 2006
Nigerian web hosting industry is still new, so is the customers. Besides the headache of spoon feeding support, and they wanting you to help them debug their buggy codes, The return is phenomenal.
Computers / Re: Why Yahoo? by kazey(m): 4:52pm On Jun 01, 2006
Rather I started with Netscape then Hotmail, and so where the people all arround me. But thats early 90s sha, so I cant really say in regards to Nigerians. But I taught hotmail was the dorminant mail of choice of the past?
Webmasters / Re: Attension Web Host! by kazey(m): 4:40pm On Jun 01, 2006
Interesting question. There is no secret to a trade, there is only hardwork and patience. 99% of customers gained in the web hosting industry is via refferals. So you might want to work on a referral model that would work for you, you might also want to maintain a strict financial management, avoid investing too much of your money, let it grow by itself, besides that all the best, and welcome to the web hosting industry smiley.
