Donald95:Read well and understand before commenting. They didn't climb the pole, rather they were trying to stand (mount) it. May their souls rest in peace. |
namet:You're very much in point. |
Patrioticooduan:Then maybe more Yorubas should be like you and join in the agitation for breakup of the country. Isn't IPOB one of the reasons why Yorubas insult Igbos online? If Yorubas get as aggressive as Igbos are about the breakup of Nigeria, then the northerners will take it more serious, and that may end up becoming a reality. |
namet: HypocriticalMod: Kimsokrates:Guys, there isn't any mention of company there na? News about the site had been reported on Nairaland before. It seems more like a volcano that may erupt in the near future. It was earlier reported that fire was burning at one location in Nnewi, and it was bringing out smoke with a sulphurous odour. See the earlier report here: https://www.nairaland.com/4528438/oduga-stream-nnewi-dries-up |
Patrioticooduan:So what do you do when your tribesmen throw the first shot? We all know that sometimes, Yorubas initiate the insult, mockery and attacks. Other times, it is the Igbos. The truth is that we all either feel okay or indifferent when our tribes are on the offensive, yet become annoyed the moment our tribes are on the receiving end. Once in a while, I caution Igbos that do that, but most times I keep silent. We are all guilty in one way or the other. |
Patrioticooduan:See, I've had an account on Nairaland probably long before you knew there was a forum called Nairaland. The attack between Yorubas and Igbos started long before 2015 elections. I can't categorically tell you which side initiated it, but it's been there for long. Those days, Igbos used to mock Yorubas and call them cowards and backstabbers while Yorubas used to call Igbos drug dealers, fake drug sellers, baby factory operators etc. The main cause of the fights then was centred around the civil war. Talking about Jonathan marginalising Yorubas, remember that SW had the slot for Speaker of HoR under Jonathan, but being that SW was mostly ruled by ACN opposition party, they aligned with Tambuwal who is from the North West and voted him to be Speaker against their SW PDP candidate. That was the reason why SW had no principal officer under Jonathan. Igbos attack Yorubas when they consider Buhari's government cos Tinubu made it easier for Buhari to be president. Even though it wasn't mainly Yoruba votes that made him to win (cos his margin of win in the SW is small), however, it would have been impossible for him to win without Yoruba (especially Tinubu) support. I don't hate Yorubas. As a matter a fact, some of my friends are Yoruba, and I relate well with them. I feel bad when Yorubas attack Igbos here, just the same way you feel bad when Igbos insult Yorubas, but let's remind ourselves that it goes both ways on Nairaland. Any time you see me engaging in such petty tribal fights, know that I am responding to somebody else who has insulted my race. If there are people that will wish for an end to be put to all the inter-tribal wars all over social media, I am one of them. And please, stop calling me a liar. I hate that. You can disagree with me, but don't call me a liar. None of what I have said is a lie. You may not fully agree with them cos you are seeing things from a different perspective, but that doesn't make my view lies. Thank you. |
Patrioticooduan:Read what I wrote again, this time more carefully, and give me reasons why I shouldn't e-slap you. The person I quoted said the hatred between Igbos and Yorubas started when Jonathan lost, and I corrected him by saying it started long before then, but only worsened when Buhari took over power cos of his attitude towards the Igbos. What is the lie in it? Will you just shut up! Which election did we lose woefully and bitterly? Is Jonathan an Igbo man? We supported Jonathan against Buhari and he lost. What's the big deal there? Majority of the states of the Core North supported Buhari against Jonathan in 2011 yet when he won, he still carried them along in his government. Buhari called Igbos "5 percenters", has so far marginalised Igbos in his appointments (including promotion of officers in the Police, Customs and Immigration) plus the infamous python dance which is still a major source of grievance to Igbos. Do you know how many innocent Igbos that were killed as a result of that python dance? Had Buhari been half as a nationalist as Yar'Adua was, he would have silenced the opposition from the East. Had Buhari chosen to treat Igbos fairly like other Nigerians, he would have been better accepted by Igbos than he is now. So it wasn't about Jonathan losing the election. It's more about who Jonathan lost to, and the consequence of his administration on Igbos and the rest of Nigerians. |
midolian:I don't think any Igbo has said anything against Yorubas here on Nairaland that is worse than what the guy said against Igbos. Moreover, Nairaland mods usually delete such comments and ban such people. And I also need to remind you that the inter-tribal attacks here are bidirectional, in equal intensity. Some people even take it for fun. The way the attitude of many Igbos here on Nairaland disgusts you is also the same way your attitude disgusts some of them. It's a mutual thing. That's why Nigeria isn't really a nation cos we are different people, hate one another and don't enjoy living together. Also, the bitterness between Igbos and Yorubas here on Nairaland is probably over 6 or more years old. It didn't start with Jonathan's election loss. Don't say what you don't know. It only worsened when Buhari came into power because Buhari chose to rub it into the faces of Igbo that he doesn't give a damn about them, by virtue of his utterances and appointments. |
modath:Abuja to Lokoja and Benin to Ore. I know he did many other roads in d North just that I don't know their names. |
Teacher1776:Leave us, we like it that that. Those that have the highest number of first class kings in Nigeria, do they have more meaningful lives than the Igbos? Even the Western World we love to copy, how many of those countries have kings? At least we know that the first 5 biggest economies in the world have no monarchs. Who kings epp? |
Oblongata:In the UK, many important roads (not talking about motor ways), most of which are single carriage roads have the wall of buildings just a few metres from them, yet accidents rarely happen. There is no way in this world anybody can convince me that this building is on the road, or that it is the cause of accidents. Majority of accidents in Nigeria aren't due to bad roads but as a result of overspeeding and other dangerous driving. That road is not an expressway, so buildings don't need to be up to 10m away from it. It has already been dualised, so you shouldn't tell me the government wants to dualise it. If there are accidents there, the government can put speed bumps or traffic light, or basically find a way to ensure people maintain a speed limit of not more than 60km/hr. This is clearly politically motivated. |
Bolustical:But the bigoted and nepotistic Buhari sent Ekwueme to prison and put Shagari under house arrest. You've just conformed how sectional and evil hearted Buhari is. |
TonyeBarcanista:Irrespective of party? Exactly the kind of stuff Akpabio said some weeks ago before he decamped. It means Udom will likely decamp. You are aware and all this deceit won't work. |
Freetech:Before PDP came on board, university professors were earning 8k, secondary school principals were earning 4500. Teachers were basically poor. I know very well cos I was raised by teachers. Guess you have an idea of how much salaries have been increased over the years. I also need to remind you that before Jonathan left, one dollar was worth ₦199. Now, it's almost double the amount which means people earn far less than they were earning 4 years ago. Even the NYSC corpers allowee have been increased by almost all past administrations at different times. No economy develops by wealth distribution. Economies develop by industrialization and development of critical infrastructure especially power. Deal with power problem in Nigeria and the country will develop with speed. I am not trying to downplay this allowance increment for corpers anyway. I'm only trying to put things in the right perspective. |
nigeriapenbase:Bros, where is Egypt Air in your list, or you don't know it is better than most of the Airlines you mentioned there? |
Butterflyle0:Can you please explain that point in bold? How is the National Assembly election coming first going to affect the chance of APC in the presidential election? |
DoTheNeedful:Yeah, but the issue is that the highest ranking politician is usually made the party leader. When PDP was the ruling party, the presidents were normally the party leaders. As PDP lost out, the highest ranking person (just b4 the defections) became Ekweremadu. When Saraki joined the party, he just had to become the party leader. It would have been funny for Ekweremadu to be his leader in the party. It doesn't seem right for him to have been made the leader anyway, but that's how the party is structured. Forget about whatever reason Akpabio gave. Akpabio already submitted his letter (of decamping from PDP) to Saraki before they went on recess, but Saraki didn't read it. In essence, Akpabio technically decamped b4 Saraki. |
DoTheNeedful:The reverse is also the case with Akpabio. That's how Nigerian politics works. |
BafanaBafana:Are you for real? Both Makarfi and Sowore have been in the East. Moreover, there is no past president or VP in the East, so who will they go to see apart from going for town hall meetings? |
Butterflyle0:You get sense so? |
Butterflyle0:I guess that also explains why Borno and Yobe are highly developed, since they equally haven't been governed by PDP. NONSENSE!!! |
Does anyone know if there is Airtel 4G network in Benin City? |
Corrinthians:You should be ashamed of yourself for once. Are you even sane at all? Hero of PDP for being used by APC to topple the leadership of NASS? Is Saraki no longer the one that instigated the NASS crisis? |
hmuhammad:Shebi one of your brothers said his goal in the legislature is to push for Buhari to be president for life. That was his ONLY mandate. |
Eponyeeboz:What do you really gain from this? Shouldn't you appreciate Igbos for trying hard to sustain the spirit of opposition politics in Nigeria under this terrible, undemocratic APC government? Yorubas played opposition politics under Jonathan and for a good part of the previous dispensations. I can't remember anybody abusing Yorubas online for being in the opposition while Jonathan was in power. If all of us run into APC, who will serve to put the government in power in check? Of course you know you are not actually insulting IPOB as those ones are more keen on break up of Nigeria. It's the Igbos who still believe in the Nigerian project that are pushing for PDP. Hope you remember that one day, the SW will need the support of the rest of the South to return to power, probably in 2023 (according to Tinubu's scheming). I guess you know that APC may lose power then, cos any party that fields a powerful northern candidate with a SE/SS VP may win that election. I need to remind you that the north only cares about their people being in power, whether PDP or APC. The same people shouting Sai Baba are the people being impoverished everyday by their politicians, but they don't care as long as one of their brothers is in power. |
senatordave1:These personalities may matter in local elections where the contestants are from Anambra. When it comes to presidential election, APC will find it hard to get 25% talk more of winning. But yeah, I think APC will get more votes in the SE now than in 2015. Considering that there is a slim chance of APC presenting an Igbo candidate in 2023, these Igbo politicians in APC will work hard to get more votes for Buhari next year so that handing over to an Igbo will be made easier, even though we know it's going back to the SW. As much as I hate to admit it, Buhari will win this election. |
donphilopus:Oga, it doesn't work like that. In Anambra guber election, APC can easily secure 20-30% of the votes cast, depending on their candidate cos they are still seen as brothers even though their party is hated. In presidential election, it's a different ball game. Remember APC came 2nd in the last gubernatorial election ahead of PDP. Can you then assume that APC will beat PDP in presidential election in Anambra? |
midolian:They didn't make any mistake. After Buhari (assuming APC remains in power), presidency will go to the south for 8 years, meaning that the next northern president under APC will lead from 2021 (13 years time). Neither Kwankwaso, Atiku, Tambuwal can wait till that time, so this is still the best opportunity for them. With APC, their chances of being president stand at zero. With PDP, it may be minimal but still better than zero. |
musicwriter:It's not about language really. It's about about the fact that corruption dealt a heavy blow on us over the decades, and we haven't really invested well in science and technology. Congrats dear sisters. You made us proud. |
Butterflyleo:You are the dumb one. Were they not meeting at Sheraton waiting for the right time to be driven to NASS? If not for the public outcry and the resistance by the PDP legislators, they would have been moved to NASS to perfect the act. How far is NASS from Sheraton? Not up to 10-15mins drive. |
wellmax:Oga, defection is a different ball game compared to directly humiliating the FG which employed you and which you serve. It's almost like mutiny in the army. What does Akpabio stand to gain? Is that really a question? Alright, here we go: 1. He can become senate president next year 2. EFCC might soft pedal on his corruption charges 3. He might get APC win the next gubernatorial election and install someone that will be more loyal to him than Udom 4. There are always benefits being in n the ruling party, especially in terms of attracting FG attention to the state. Now, can you enumerate to me what Daura stood to gain by causing shame to the FG while trying to please Saraki? |
sirequity:Is anybody still wondering why APC members used DSS to block National Assembly? Is it now clear to all and sundry that this is the reason for the legislative coup? |
