PoliticsRe: Landlocked Biafra Will Be An Economic Hell On Earth. by kingzizzy: 10:20am On Dec 07, 2015
dinachi:
It will be horrible economically for our people IF they go on to become Biafra. It will be an economic hell. With most importers being of Igbo origin, they are gonna have to depend on Lagos and Port Harcourt Ports to get anything in. And that is where Nigeria is going to make a killing on import duties and rates. The customs are also going to make a killing on goods heading to Biafra. We will be forced to import foods like, yams, beans, onions, tomatoes, carrots even beef from the north. It is not like I expect the Biafran zombies here to understand, they will never do because anything short of their beloved biafra is not acceptable even if the Biafra is hell in its self!

As for the IPOB clowns, they will never understand the damage they did to businesses of Igbo men and women with their senseless and violent protests. Blocking the Niger bridge for the length of time they did cost Igbo men and women billions in profits.

But this post is not for the zombies, it is only for the Igbo men and women. who still thinks and has balanced reasoning. Zombies can do only what they know how to do best, rant and rave.
Bro, Biafra has never been an "Igbo only" thing. Even if it was, you might want to ask the owners of Porthacourt (Igwe-Ocha), the Ikwere people where they stand on the issue of Biafra. The Ikweres have Igbo surnames and speak Igbo as their ancestral language. If you say they are not Igbos, 'na you sabi'. River ports can also be built in Oguta in Imo and Obuaku in Abia.

As an Anambra man, I understand the version of Igbo the Ikwere people speak but when the Abakiliki man speaks, I have to remove all the wax in my ear and listen attentively if I am to understand anything he is saying. Abakiliki people usually revert to Central Igbo when they are dealing with their fellow Igbos from other places. Abakiliki/Ikwo/Izzi-Ezza Igbo are the hardest to understand

You are not making any sense the message in the post is simple, seceeded or not the SW will still do well, the region endured 16 years of conflict in the 19th Century. As far as am concerned it is foolish for anytribe to over play its importance in Nigeria, interdependence is what keeps us together.
What you call cowardice is called wisdom, the Northnand the SW have been in contact before any Igbo man ever spoke Yoruba, the relationship has always been feudal not master slave like you imagine. You cannot understand the SW becuase you are shallow minded and blinded by ethnicentrism, there are Yoruba Muslims, there are Yoruba Christians all with rights to be who they want to be, it is not anyone's fault that your founding fathers in modern Nigeria left a legacy of war and violence.
Let me tell you something. You have no wisdom if you have no sovereignty. In every war, there is one group fighting for their sovereingty on one side and another group fighting to take that sovereinghty away. Who do you think was fighting for what in the Nigerian/Biafran war?
PoliticsRe: Why the Yoruba Nation is not seeking for secession by kingzizzy: 9:07am On Dec 07, 2015
Adesege:
You got it wrong.

When i said it will lead to war, i meant a replica of the 1967 civil war.

You need to understand that we are not cowards as you portray.

Everyone is blinded by the civil war but no one has ever thought of what led to the civil war.

When the Igbos planned a coup that killed Sir Ahmadu Bello, 'Master', in Half of a Yellow sun and other Igbos were all rejoicing.

Until the northerners struck, they called them evil. They said the North started it first.

From the beginning, Biafra was founded on greed, and lust for power.

A brief look into the history will do you good.
You obviously don't Nigerian history. You don't even know what led to the war. Do you know that Igbos were butchered in 1945? Do you know they were killed again in 1953? Do you think think that Nigeria was a peaceful and happy place and Igbos just got up and conducted a coup? The 1964 elections brought mayhem and violence on Nigeria, even Awolowo was charged with treason and locked up. This spilled over into 1965 as rampant killings was the order of the day. That is why certain soldiers under Nzeogwu decided to strike in January of 1966. One of the ring leaders of that coup was a Yoruba man called Major Ademoyega. Not even Nzeogwu who led the coup had any interest in taking over Government. What led to the war was the insatiable greed of the North for Oil and power. The North had already conducted their own counter coup, installed Gowon. Why did Gowon decide to turn his back on the Aburi agreement he signed with Ojukwu? This is question is what people should ask Gowon. Another baffling question the Yoruba nation should ask themselves is why they let Northerners ride over them all the time? The Yorubas witnessed these Northerners slaughter over 50,000 easterners in 1966 but still the Yorubas thought "these Northeners are the best to be in Nigeria with". Really? The Yorubas say 'Lagos is our land' but it is from this same Lagos that the Northerners controlled and ran Nigeria to the ground for many years. On two different occassions, the Northerners denied the Yorubas the presidency but the Yorubas did nothing. Today, the historic Yoruba city of Ilorin has become a Nothern Nigeian emirate with a sitting Hausa/Fulani Emir. Why did Yorubas condone all of this if not cowardice? The Yoruba man is even the biggest critic of the Igbos and Ojukwu who stood up to Northern domination. I don't expect everyone to be brave. I don't expect everone to have the spine or backbone to fight for their right. What I expect is for people to start telling themselves the truth. There isn't an Igbo man alive who doesn't think that the Yoruba man is born bred coward

I will always thank Uwazuruike for all his contributions to the cause of Biafra. The man has suffered all kinds of persecution from the Nigerian state for the sake of Biafra. However, it is clear that he cannot get Biafra. Nnamdi Kanu is in detention and people are protesting and agitating for Biafra all over the world. Uwazurike is a free man but nothing is happening on his side. It is people like Kanu that will get us Biafra not Uwazurike.

Two words : Greed and Covetousness. They cannot help it. Even during the civil war, when fighting was raging in Nsukka, Bonny, and Ogoja, Ojukwu, the land grabbing megolmaniac, decided to invadedthe midwest, marched into Ore, enroute to Lagos and Ibadan before he was stopped in his tracks.
Albeit i am not a Yoruba, but i lnow that their planned biafra protest in the west is DOA
So Nigeria invaded Biafra but you expected Ojukwu not to invade Nigeria?
PoliticsRe: Why the Yoruba Nation is not seeking for secession by kingzizzy:
I was actually waiting for the guy who started this thread to say why the Yorubas do not want to secede. He ended up saying nothing

"The Yoruba Nation, not out of fear, knows that any secession will lead to war and cos we are peace loving and educated, we ruled secession out. It will cost the Yoruba nation nothing to break outta Nigeria but of what usefulness will that be?"

Just look at what this guy wrote above. Yoruba secession will lead to war? Who is going to fight who? Will an Igbo man like me fight to keep a Yorubas in 'one Nigeria'? Will the minorities of Southern Nigeria fight to keep Yorubas in Nigeria? Only the North might fight to keep Yorubas in Nigeria. Basically, the Yoruba nation have suspended their right to self determination because of their fear of the North. They remember Biafra and how the Igbos lost millions of souls and they don't want to pay that high price for their own sovereing nation. They don't have the backbone to fight the Northerners like Igbos did in the Biafran war. I can understand all this as an Igbo man.

I just hope the Yorubas now understand why most Igbos consider them unrepentant cowards

I don't like Mr Nyesom Wike. But for this statement, I will support him because if not for General Yakubu Gowon who created Rivers state and Cross Rivers state out of the old Eastern region controlled, dominated by the Igbos who then sat on everything meant for us all, by now only GOD in Heaven knows if there will be any man or woman will be living called Efik, Ibibio, Anamg, Ikwerri, kalabari, Okirika, Ijaw, Epeye, Etche etc. We would have been subjected into untold hardship and extermination under Ojukwu, the Igbos and their Biafra. Each time I hear of Biafra, I thank general Yakubu Gowon
So what your saying is :

"Thank God Gowon! If not for Gowon, those Igbos would have dominated and marginalised us. But now that Gowon has created Rivers States Igbos, Hausas and Yoruba have now dominated us. We have to thank Gowon for keeping Nigeria as one! Now we are 'proper minorities' and have Igbo, Hausa and Yorubas dominating and sharing our oil wealth. Thank you so much Mr Gowon!

Bigprozzie:
Lies!

Gowon is a Nigerian Hero and Patriot

He did his job as Commander In Chief

He quashed the enemies of the Nigerian state.

He has a kind heart and I think all Igbos should be grateful to him. If it was a Fulani or Hausa man, the number of dead Biafrans would have been over 10 million.
Gowon is regarded a genocidal killer internationally. If millions have to be killed to keep a country 'one', then that country is not worth having. The people of Rivers don't know that the creation of that state was how Gowon and his fellow northerners stole their Oil wealth and now own 80% of it of the Oil blocs. Only a fool congratulates the thief

Saturn213:
Writing in bold does not make your point any stronger. It is very distracting.

Just like a typical Ipob member, you keep talking from both sides of your mouth.

You agree that any member can veto Biafra membership then you decided to degrade your argument by quoting a paragraph on decision making.

Article 9 you referenced is qualified majority voting which is used in decision making on issues such as single market, directives etc. It is not applicable for admitting new member nations

When it comes to a new entrant; All countries must agree. Nigeria will not agree and I am sure countries such as Benin Republic , Togo will do Nigeria's bidding.

Anyway that is putting the cart before the horse.

You keep making a comparison to Scotland but what you fail to realise is that the Scottish Independence movement is made up of intellectuals, academics and politicians. They provided evidence of how their country will be constituted if they got independence, from oil treaties with Norway, decommissioning of nuclear facilities. They had several bases covered before asking for independence. The Scottish people saw evidence of how their country will function if they leave the union.

It is not like Ipod run by an illiterate that goes on radio calling for the massacre of Nigerians and calling Leaders names and asking for his supporters to murder a well know Nigerian Pastor. He was even caught on video asking for money to buy arms. This is an unprofessional illiterate with no common sense.

The Scottish spent years trying to convince their people, they then formed a party - the SNP. After decades of campaigning, they got majority of political seats in the Scottish Parliament. Even after that, it took them years to convince the UK government to agree to a referendum. The whole process took over 50 years. It is a separation and not a tea party.

When Igbos are serious, they will vote for a party that wants Biafra independence, they will make them senators, HORs and governors. After that they can negotiate with the Nigerian state for a referendum.

You just dont wake up one morning and start shouting Referendum. It will take decades of negotiations and talks.
Sometimes I enjoy reading the trash you Nigerians come with. It's just laughable. The piller of ECOWAS is regional integration in West Africa. I doubt very much that ECOWAS will go against the very reason it was set up just because Nigeria is not happy with Biafra. However, ECOWAS or no ECOWAS, the sovereingty of the Biafran people is the most important thing. Nigeria is but a small dot in the world map and we are thinking bigger than Nigeria. When we talk about referendum, the most important thing to note is that is that Britain respected the right of of the indigenous Scottish people to decide their destiny. A right that the oppressive Nigerian state has taken away from the indigenous people that make up Nigeria. Biafra is not an elitist thing, it's not about millionaires and intellectuals. Biafra is about the common man. Freedom is not about social status, the 'agbero' on the streets has as much right to freedom and self determination as anyone else. When you talk about Nnamdi Kanu and his radio station. Did the man force you to listen his Radio? He insulted people, called for the killing of Nigerians, verbally solicited for guns:

Newsflash! He is allowed to do all those things under his right to free speech!

There is no Nigerian law that makes 'talking' a criminal offence. If there is, I challenge you to state it here. Has Kanu killed anyone? Is there any act of terrorism that can be attributed to him? So his crime is just because opened his mouth? Quite laughable

Finally, you said Biafrans should elect politicians that will push for their cause? Why? So you want us to seek a political solution to Biafra and negotiate with Nigeria? Then I ask you, what political process made you a Nigerian? Who negotiated with Igbos and other Biafrans to become Nigerians? On who's authority or mandate was Lugard acting on when he made you and I Nigerians? So you think it is wrong for indigenous West African people such Igbos,Ijaws to seek their own country but you accept the act of illegality of the White Man that made you a Nigerian? Quite laughable. Nigeria is an illegal contraption of the White man, Nigeria is a 55 year old fraud case and Nigeria has no legitimacy. Just because some white men came to West Africa over 100 years ago, beat up people, killed them then proclaimed 'Nigeria' does not make us a nation. We must put an end to the fraud called Nigeria with the emergence of Biafra!

Yeah agreed.
Don't you think it's an affront on the authority of a country to Announce a sovereign State within a a sovereign state. Ofcourse, it will lead to armed conflict to both parties.

On the economic perspective, Biafra is a quest to crises. why because, There is virtually nothing to fall back on if all businesses owned by easterners are closed down or overtaken by Nigerian government.

Also, at this point countries are trying to break down borders and artificial restrictions, for the economic gains, that is when some people want to box theirselves into a box.

I hope you are aware that Some money bags in the east are not in support of this due to their economic interest and wiser understanding.
It is only jobless youths on the street who does not know their priority that will engage in this fruitless procession .
An affront on the authority of a country? What country? The country we all agreed to or the country everone was forced into? So Lugard can come from Europe to declare you a "Nigerian" but an indigenous born Igbo
Man like Ojukwu cannot declare his people Biafrans? Who has more right to declare anything in Africa between Lugard and Ojukwu? Nigeria has no legitimacy. As for the so called money bags, freedom fighting is a bit like democracy. It's all about numbers. If the people agitating for breakaway exceed those who don't, then there must be secession. Referendum is not a respecter of money or intellect, it's all about numbers and majority
