Igboid:IPOB's agitation is not an Igbo agitation. It is about holding a referendum in the SE/SS area to determine who wants to exit Nigeria and who wants to stay in Nigeria |
MelesZenawi:Look at this one whose father is sitting in Kaduna while hundreds of people are being slaughtered weekly in the state. This is the one that is coming to give advice? |
SonOfEl:What he is trying to say is that Igbos took an Ikwerre man called Uche Okwukwu from Bini, forced him to change his name to Igbo, made him to forget his bini language, forced him to speak Igbo then made him Ohanaeze Secretary General. There are too many foolish people on earth |
I wonder if those who say that Nnamdi Kanu jumped bail have any brains in their head? The Nigerian Government sent Soldiers to go and kill an unarmed man in his house. Rather than condemn this act of lawlessness and human rights abuse by the Nigerian government, some people are questioning why Nnamdi Kanu did not stay to be killed? A man leaves the country because the federal government wants to kill him and you are talking about jumping bail? Do dead people go to court? How people can be so stupid? |
The entire Nigeria is not as big as the state of Texas in America Japan is a small country but the second richest country in the world. Switzerland is the size of Abia and Enugu states combined but has a bigger GDP than Nigeria It is never about the size of your land, its all about what you can do with what you have |
AmericanQuarter:Awka has come a long way |
hammer8:Asari Dokubo actually said that there are only three ethnic groups in Rivers state, Ijaws, Ogoni's and Igbo lol |
Even the Ogonis and Ijaws who are with Ikwerre in Rivers state consider the Ikwerre to be Igbos for the simple reason that there is no difference between Ikwerre and Igbo. Before you can become a "distinct ethnic group" there must be something that differentiates you from other ethnic groups and it is usually your ancestral language and ancestral name. Those who say that Ikwerres are not Igbos dont seem to realise that there is no difference between the Ikwerres of Rivers state and Nsukka people of Enugu State and the Ngwa people of Abia and the Oru people of Imo state. We all speak Igbo as our ancestral language and we all have Igbo surnames. We may all have small differences in our dialects but we all understand each other. Some Ikwerres like late novelist, Elechi Amadi, says the Ikwerres are not Igbo, while other Ikwerres like former Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, says Ikwerres are Igbo. Who do we believe? Some people say that Ikwerres should be allowed to claim any identity they want. The problem with that is that the facts on the ground will always outweigh whatever you claim to be. What surprises me in this argument about Ikwerres being Igbo or not is that those who shout "Ikwerres are not Igbos" the most are neither Ikwerres nor Igbos. They wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between the Ikwerre dialect and the Abakiliki dialect I believe Ikwerres are Igbos because there is no difference between them and Igbo, except denial in some quarters |
naijaway:13 years later, how market? |
Deadlytruth:This is all nonsense. If you are going to talk about Alex Ekwueme, why dont you people ever talk about Brigadier Ogundipe who was Ironsi Deputy? When it comes to Zik and Ironsi, you people will forget that other Nigerias were part of their administration. But when it comes to the 50 years no Igbo man has led Nigeria, you people will say that Igbos were part government. The President of Nigeria is the final decision maker in Nigeria and it is him who takes the blame for whatever wrong decisions are made. Nobody from the South East has been president of Nigeria since July 1966 when Ironsi was killed, it is all other zones that have been president. What have you people been doing with Nigeria for 54 years? For over 50 years, you people have messed Nigeria up and brought us to where we are today. Now you people are going back to the 50's and 60's to blame Zik, Ironsi and Ojukwu who have all been out of power for 50 years? You people make me laugh |
Gowon came to power in 1966 with the promise to hand over to civilians at the "earliest possible date". Nine years later in 1975, Gowon was still trying trying to hand over at the earliest possible date. The idiot known as Murtala Mohammed overthrew Gowon as soon as Gowons plane left for Kampala |
Deadlytruth:But the rest of you Nigerians have had 50 years to correct whatever it is that Ironsi, Ojukwu and Azikiwe did. All you Nigerians ended up doing in 50 years is making Nigeria 100 times worse than than Ironsi, Zik or Ojukwu ever did. All the geopolitical zones in Nigeria, except for the South east, have had the opportunity to lead Nigeria in the last 50 years. Where is Nigeria today? If you all came in and did far worse than Igbos did then there is point coming up with ancient history of what Igbos did. |
Atigba:There is just one question that renders everything you wrote to be nonsense. Why would Edo people migrate to present day Igbo land and give the area Igbo names? Edo people migrated to present day Bende and gave the place an Igbo name "be ndi Igbo"? Do Edo people speak Igbo? I know that Igbanke people of Edo state speak Igbo but they are Ika-Igbo people who were carved into Edo state rather than with their Ika kith and kin in Delta state. This is the same nonsense people say about the Ikwerre people of Rivers State, that they are Bini migrants who came to present day Rivers state, gave their villages Igbo names(a language they could not have known), dropped their Bini surnames and language and adopted Igbo ones. How can anyone be stupid enough to believe such a story? Which migrant will move somewhere and the first thing he does is to call the place a name in a language he does not speak? There is way too much stupidity on earth |
gawu1:All of this was before the war ended in 1970, years ago. 100 times worse has happend in Nigeria in the last 50 years that Igbos have been out of the corridors of power. That one is what IPOB will not forget |
candidtalk:How will moving back home give Igbos Biafra? Assuming all Igbos moved back to Igbo land, how will this in anyway give them Biafra? Have you ever heard that the mere movement of people back to their ancestral land gave them an independent country? If all Igbos moved back home, they will still be in Nigeria and nothing will change. Why are you shouting Biafra from UK, USA, Canada, Isreal, Germany, Russia, South Africa, Namibia, Ghana, Senegal, Cameroon and the hundreds of nations worldwide Igbos are voluntarily dispersed in with no interest in returning to the Biafran heartland of SE Nigeria? They are shouting Biafra from UK and USA because they are countries where things work and the rule of law prevails, not Nigeria where shouting Biafra gets you killed, arrested, detained abd dehumanised even though freedom of expression is in the Nigerian constitution. Who would return from USA to a Nigeria where nothing works? They will return to an independent Biafra where things will work Igbos excuse is always "they don't want to let us go". What efforts are you making to go? Living in the land of others and raising your kids with their tongue and ways is captivity and "not letting you go" ba?We fought a war to go, you Nigerians said no. We agitated and protested to go, you Nigerians sent python dance. We asked for referendum to let us go, you Nigerians have refused. Who is fooling who here? |
IamWonderful:But if the same Igbos ask for a separate a country so they can go their way, people like you will be amongst the people to fight war so they wont go |
donbachi:Where do expect them to get AK47 that the herdsmen are carrying? |
Christistruth00:How can it be the bloodiest when less than 20 people died? In other coups of the times, hundreds were killed. |
Jonathan Asake is a one time Federal House Member representing Zango Kataf constituency. He is also a former Chairman of Zango Kataf Local Government in Southern Kaduna, and is the current President of South Kaduna Peoples Union(SOKAPU). In the interview below, Asake talked about the killings and massacres in Southern Kaduna. The interview is over an hour long but the main things he said are: What is going in Southern Kaduna is genocide perpetrated by the Fulani Militia. They invade communities in the night or early in morning, armed with AK47 and machete and proceed to hack and shoot people down as they sleep. They kill children, rape women, murder the men and abduct people, forcing those who survive to flee for the lives. It is after the Fulani Militia have driven the indigenes out that the Herdsmen arrive with their cattle to take over the land Right now, places like Kajuru, Zango Kataf, Kaura and Kafanchan are all under siege. Everyday, people are buried in mass graves as the government does nothing to save lives and property. The government of El Rufai has refused to set up official IDP camps to as to hide the fact from the world that genocide is going on in Southern Kaduna. People are living in make-shift accomodations with no assistance from government. Whenever there is an attack, El Rufai will declare 24 hour curfew. While people are observing the curfew in their homes, the Fulani Militia will arrive to attack them. People have run to nearby communities only to run again when that community is also attacked. When our men mobilise themselves with machetes, sticks and bows and arrows to defend themselves from the invaders, the security forces will arrive to arrest them instead. The Fulani Militia attack us and run into the nearby bushes and when the security forces arrive and we point out where the killers are, they never go after them. instead, they arrest our men who have mobilised to go after the invaders. We are suffering, our children are out of school, our farms destroyed and our people are constantly chased out of their community. In the mist of all this, the Presidency along with Garba are trying to mislead the world with the false narrative that the killings are just farmers/herders clash, community clash and reprisal killings Let the world know that what is going is genocide. At night, a long queue of armed Fulani Militia on motorcycles will invade a community and slaughter people, forcing the survivors to take flight. Then they move in and take over our land. It is Fulanization. Not one single armed Fulani Militia has ever been captured or brought to book, they act with impunity. We are appealing to the world to come to our aid because the Federal Government and the Kaduna State Government have both failed us https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHPgARpuVWc |
IamWonderful:He did not do anything that did not happen in most countries in Africa. There were coups all over Africa in the 1960's and 70's, hardly any country in Africa escaped it. But African countries like Egypt and Ghana, bounced back from coups and became successful economic and democratic stories. Nigeria went on to conduct multiple coups went down the drain |
Ebenezar2O2O:There is no ethnic group called Anioma, the word did not exist until the late 70's. An ethnic group cannot start in the 70's, it must be existing even before the white man created Nigeria |
Buharifan:You Northerners are not deceiving anyone. We all know that come 2023, you all will unite behind another Northerner to continue the misrule of Nigeria you people have been perpetrating since July 1966 when you people murdered Ironsi |
PrinceMajestic:I dont know anyone in a vegetable state who is conscious and able enough to sit down and recieve birthday card. |
The Asagba of Asaba, Professor Chike Edozien. One of the most enduring and respected kings in Igbo land May your days be long sir |
landforeast:Anyi anugo |
Kekereekun123:Nigerians are never going to revolt. No Notherner will ever revolt while a Northerner is in power. No South Easterner will revolt unless it is about Biafra. No SSner will revolt as long unless it is about Oil. No SW will revolt as long as the occupy one of the 3 top political positions in the country Everybody has his own agitation, nobody is going to risk his life or freedom for a Nigeria nobody really believes in any more |
I dont know what some people have against this? This obviously a symbolic burial of an African called George Floyd in the land of his ancestors. It is practiced in many African countries where an African, or someone of African descent, who died and was buried abroad, some people will organise a symbolic burial in Africa as a way of bringing tge persons soul back to the land of his ancestors There is nothing wrong with this |
Interesting. I can almost Imagine Oduduwa Republic and Biafra standing side by side as independent countries. It will be the start of a new dawn and a great future |
IspitonCowards:You have no point to make. No matter how you see the Biafran agitation, it is still better than Nigeria. Nigeria was created by the guns of the British, the Biafran agitators want Biafra created by free will of referendum The Biafran agitators are going all over the South South raising awareness and drumming up support for a referendum, nobody was even notified of the creation of Nigeria There are indigenous people agitating for Biafra, not one single indigenous person ever agitated for the creation of Nigeria No matter how you see it, the Biafra that is yet to come has more legitimacy than the Nigeria we have today. |
UdechiHD:And what were people like you doing before the arrival of IPOB and MASSOB? Absolutely nothing. Armchair critics who sit somewhere criticising those agitating because they know they cant do anything themselves. Those who have held all the political power in Nigeria since the end of the war have nothing to show for it. They are the ones suffering the most poverty and insecurity. And people like you are talking about political gains in a country where nothing works. IPOB and MASSOB are the best thing to happen to Igbos. If anything, they have let Nigerians know that not everyone wants to be part of the unmitigated failure called Nigeria |
The break up of Nigeria will be peaceful as I do not see anyone fighting to be with another. When Nigeria breaks up, it is highly like that all the Igbo speaking people of Nigeria, the South East, the Igbos of the lower Benue, the Delta Igbos, Igbo speaking people in Rivers and possibly Igbanke in Edo will all opt to be one country. The reason is that a so called Niger Delta Republic is virtually impossible. To bring Edo, Ijaws, Ibibios, Efiks and so many others under one umbrella of one country will not be possible without Igbos. They simply cant do it because they have no affinity that goes beyond oil. What I see happening is that Ibibios/Efiks/ Ogoja will form a country while Ogonis and Ijaws will become a country. Uhrobos/Isoko/Edo will form theres It will be interesting to see how things unfold and who chooses to be with who but thats what referendum is for |

The more the days go by, the more their folly becomes profound.
