Igbos are not going to be in any Southern Nigeria Republic with Yorubas. This is a very bad idea because if it ever happens, the Yorubas will sell us to the North within a year and there will be Nigeria all over again. |

Develpeast: If you really understand what was written and still believe it then I doubt that you can decipher lies from pack of words. Let me tell you what do not know, UN is not ready to listen to anybody if they eventually divide this country. If igala or idoma say they do not want to be part of biafra after exiting this country, where do you want to put them? in space? Sometimes, the reason why we have fake pastors is that we do not try to reason their points before praising them. This is the same reason why biafra will fail.
He needs to employ real political scientists and economists to pursue the biafran dream because from what is been spewed here, then i think we can kiss the hope goodbye. I believe he means a simple in/out referendum. So take the case of Idoma or Igala for example. Depending on how the referendum question is framed, if the vote by a majority to either join Biafra or continue with Nigeria |

The one good thing about the plan is that it gives the Igbos and the minorities the right to choose their destiny via referendum. Something they have never had in Nigeria. |

Its ok, she is entitled to her opinion. No everyone is going to dig the idea of Biafra same as not everyone will be for 'one Nigeria'.
But there are things that she should be asking her self.
If there is war, who will be fighting who? Biafrans have said they want a referendum not war.
She said that Igbos dont love themselves, Nigerians dont love themselves either but she wants 'one Nigeria'.
She said that Anambra people call Asaba people 'Delta Igbos'. Im an Anambra man and we consider Asaba just as Igbo as we are. It was communities from present day Anambra that founded Asaba, Ibusa, Okpanam and the rest all in Delta state. |

I can remember in the declaration, the youth stress they arr tired of this Union. When every is back to his root, the union seize. That was the way you got Biafra the last time.
Going back home will clearly show the world our unity is lost. This is the Yugoslavia disappeared.....
unless I don't know the way you want Biafra. Sorry but thats not the way it works. Nobody has to wait until all Igbos go home before giving Igbos referendum. Igbos going home is not what will bring them Biafra. Tho Government should conduct referendum. After referendum and Igbos vote to go, the Nigeria can ask them to back to Biafra. |

crownprince102: Though IPOB happens to be the most serious seperatist group so far in the nation, the reactions of Igbos after the Kaduna declaration still makes one to ponder on the fact that if Biafra really want to secede or it's just a mere threa. The Igbo reaction was the right one. The one of outrage. The Northern youths gave Igbos quit notice but they did not tell Igbos how obeying this quit notice will bring Biafra. Igbos dont care about obeying the North, they care about getting Biafra. So if all Igbos packed up and went home, how will this bring Biafra? |

Hati13: Ethiopian here
In 1993, Eritrea separated from Ethiopia. The Ethio-Eritrea war(1998-2000) killed many hundreds of thousands of people and destructed the already destructed economy of the 2 countries back then. Now, Eritrea isn't doing well and Ethiopia is spending huge sums of $ annually to lend access of seaport from Djibouti, because of this. If those 2 countries were one today, they would've developed more and their past greatness of Axum would've been restored.
- Axumities were Eritreans and northern Ethiopians. - Abyssinians were Amharas and Tigrays(northern Ethiopians).
So, Nigerians should learn from their fellow Ethiopians and Eritreans separation tragedy and should stay united.
We should unite, unite and.........unite to form our own one African Union state. Uniting is the solution for Africans not separation. Whst about America that separated from Britain in 1776? What are we to learn from that? |

LordCzar202: Well, I don't agree its a waste of time as the goal is to enlighten, no matter how small. Many are oblivious to how important historical relevance are. On the other hand, i am not saying Nigeria should be forced to remain one. But rather, we should see the strength our diversity and numbers possess and work together along the line of co-existence.
To be honest, the people pushing for division are only a small fraction of the entire subset of any region... the fact they raise so much dust does not mean they are in majority. Its just that not being heard makes them more emotional and amplifies their cry; This people just need some love. Secondly, we have to understand the dynamics of divide and rule, as very often anything divided politically often maintains that decline of division. This is evident in political system that had been divided cos they continue to be divided; christiandom, most nations in the former USSR, south sudan, and even in Nigeria's governing strategy of its state. Thirdly if we dont unite, it will only make neighboring countries take advantage of our weaker states and pillage our resources. There is one reason Nigeria has not been in open war with any African country; our strength in numbers. You will be suprise how many african states have conflict with theirselves. Finally there are many great reasons for Nigeria to remain bound together, what we need is a more viable social contract, working laws that are reflection of its people and coexistence. Most people that push for outright division are ill informed. Wake up from your slumber and stop this fake deaming. The same thing you are saying about Nigeria was once said of the USSR. The said 'we are better off united", "we are big and indivisible", "our strenght is in our diversity and oneness", "the USSR motherland will be greater united than divided" These are the same things you are now currently trumpeting about Nigeria. But guess what? The USSR broke up into several countries and not one of those countries are hoping for the USSR to ever come back again. Countries like Lithuania of just 3 million people that use to be part of the USSR have since joined the EU and NATO and are prospering. Countries like Estonia that used to be part of the USSR have become global tourists destinations and have self determination. All those countries are doing very well now that they are out of the USSR than when they were all together and fighting everyday inside the USSR. Our strenght is not in our numbers. Switzerland is landlocked, has a population of just 8 million people, has no oil and is not even up to sieze of Benue state. Yet Switzerland has a GDP greater than Nigeria and is far richer. What Switzerland makes from just Banking and Financial services alone, Nigeria has no hope of making from Oil sales. The lesson here is that it is better to be Switzerland, small but effective, than be Nigeria, large but hopeless. Nigeria does not work as a nation and if Igbo/Hausa/Yoruba have not learnt to love each other after 103 years Lugard brought them together, they never will. It is time to call a spade a spade and grant a referendum to those ethnic nationalities who have shown by their actions and words that they are not comfortable with Nigeria, such as Igbos. Hoping and praying for something to work has its limits. |

In as much I hate the name Nigeria, (Land of the Blacks) i believe my millennia still hold the key to making Nigeria great and surely can make it happen if we are together.

We are the youths of Nigeria; the most endowed and educated country in the world.

Let forget and do away with old-cargo writers who think they own us. Let frown and bark at those whose intention is to divide us. Lets also hold hands and make Nigeria great.
Let come together and act like the champion we were born to be.

He can be reached at: Olayinkashehu@gmail.com, Twitter: shehubello, Facebook: Shehu Bello Olayinka The worst thing in life is for someone to see the truth and keep lying to themselves just like the man above. The name 'Nigerian' does not mean anything to an Igbo man like me unless I willingly accept it. Wishing for Igbo/Yoruba/Hausa to come together and love each other in other to build a better Nigeria is like hoping to mix water, oil and cream in other to get Egusi soup. It will never happen. Unity cannot be forced, it must be willingly accepted. If unity is forced, as is the case of Nigeria, no progress will be made or sustained. The fact that the British brought us all together does not make us brothers or one nation. It just makes some of us prisoners. There is nothing wrong with hoping for a united prosperous Nigeria. But there is an extent of hoping before hope turns to foolishness. 103 years as a country and 56 years of independence, what did we achieve? Massive corruption, incompetence, one civil war, millions dead, high unemployment, sectarian violence, Boko Haram, Herdsmen killings, IPOB shootings... I could go on and on. So what is the point of 'one Nigeria' when Nigeria is a faliure? Is it not better to break Nigeria up into component parts that can work rather than a huge structure that has never worked? Lets all admit that Lord Lugards experiment called Nigeria has been a disasterous faliure and go our different ways instead of hoping for a unity that will never happen |

BabaRamota1980: Na the igbo go kill him. Kaduna Declaration has put him at a crossroad with Ohanaeze and massob. The choice for Ibo is no longer between Nigeria and Biafra, but whether to forfeit all their gains and start anew in Biafra or to kill Biafra along with Kanu. Everything you said is wrong. MASSOB is fully behind IPOB. Its just that a lot of people dont know that Uwazuruike has nothing to do with MASSOB any more. As for Ohaneze, their position is simple, 'restructure Nigeria or Biafra'. Personally, I dont believe any amount of money, property or investment can equal the freedom of us Igbos. If starting afresh is the price Igbos have to pay to have their own separate country and control their destiny then so be it. |

I think the write up, though historically enlightening was largely a waste of time. Unity is not something forced. It has to be willing entered into by all parties involved or the aim is defeated.
Nigerians should not be begged, asked, told or forced to unite. It is for Nigerians to survey the enviroment and decide if our collective unity is more beneficial than oir individual intetest.
If there are any ethnic nstionalities, who after critical thinking, decide they are better off outside Nigeria, the should be let go.
