BusinessRe: Enugu Housewife Returns ₦14m Erroneously Paid Into Her Bank Account (Photos) by koning: 9:23pm On Aug 18, 2020
IamWonderful:
It was way useless, she can't spend the money, the bank will come after, because they will realise the mistake soon or later
You guys should learn to put things in perspective. Everyone is saying she has no choice, she must return it, the bank will come after her and bla bla...

Here is my question: Do you think if this money was mistakenly paid into an account of a 25 year old man, squatting in one bedroom at Abakpa, he will return it?. The woman obviously has no choice because he has a husband and children. Their life is steady and well regulated. They just cannot pack up and vamoose.
But the 25 year old will withdraw as much money as he can, disappear from Enugu and land in Lagos. Let me see how the police will trace him in the urban jungle of Lagos. Nigeria is a cash driven economy. As long as he can figure out a safe place to keep the money, he will have no use for a bank account again. He can only be tracked and arrested if he attempts to use a bank ATM again. With N14m liquid cash, who needs an ATM.
Whoever made the transfer is lucky it landed in this woman's account. This woman cannot run away. But many single men and women would.

Anyway wetin concern me. Na Anambra matter. Known Arthur 1000 for a very long time. He can throw his money about to get what he wants.

You are right, but these petty thieves do not have access to the wealthy, the rich people spend so much on security that these petty thieves have no chance, only sophisticated thieves have the guts to rob a rich man.

people asking why there is no drop in robbery cases with the incessant jungle justice, the answer is the psychology of a thief is funny they hardly learn lesson, a thief believes that a burnt/caught thief is not good enough, that if he was good enough he would have escaped, people shouldn't be surprised to see a thief stealing a phone in a mob about to burn another thief.
A post here gave details of what happened. These guys had guns. They were said to have robbed a man of his newly bought motorcycle at his home, torturing his parents in the process. With their guns, they could rob any rich person anywhere in Nigeria. Spending so much on security gives rich people a false sense of security. It is an illusion. Any thief with a gun can rob them. Just pray they don't target you.

I have been robbed of small money with a bare fist while stuck in traffic at Ikeja underbridge. A very muscular dude walked up to me, made a fist with crusty, bare knuckles in my face and demanded for money. Said he needed to eat. I jejely gave him some money and he left. He was ready to smash through the window glass. So with a gun, any body could be robbed. rich or poor. These barbacued young guys simply made a very bad decision by targeting a struggling man in their hood. No amount of security can save you if armed robbers lay ambush in front of your house waiting for you to come back from work. They will simply walk in with you once the gate is opened. That is every rich man's nightmare. And there wil be no one around to set them on fire.

Dont rob the poor, you know where the people with the money are, rob the poor and die.
Gbam. Very valid point. I am yet to see a thief burnt to death in The GRAs, Banana island's, VGC's and other high brow residential areas in Nigeria.

But steal a spanner at Ladipo, fish in Mushin or a phone in Ajegunle and you will be roasted if caught.

Just look at how these strong, young men wasted their lives. DO NOT STEAL, and if you must steal, STAY AWAY FROM THE GHETTOS. Do not steal from poor, struggling people like you. That can be very painful. And the gain is little.

Eton apologises to Nigerian ex-student Onyeama for racism

The headmaster of Eton College has told the BBC he is "appalled" by the racism experienced by the first black person to complete his studies at the prestigious British public school.

Nigerian writer Dillibe Onyeama obtained his school-leaving certificate from Eton in 1969.

He wrote a book about the racism he experienced at the school and was subsequently banned from visiting.

Head Master Simon Henderson said "we have made significant strides since".

But he acknowledged that there was "more to do".

Mr Henderson made the apology after the BBC contacted the school to seek a response to a feature it has published by journalist Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani about Onyeama's experiences and his thoughts on Black Lives Matter.

Nigerian author recalls racist abuse
Eton has a reputation for educating some of the highest ranking members of British society, including Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who is the 20th British prime minister to have attended the school, as did Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby and both the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex.

"We have made significant strides since Onyeama was at Eton but - as millions of people around the world rightly raise their voices in protest against racial discrimination and inequality - we have to have the institutional and personal humility to acknowledge that we still have more to do," Mr Henderson told the BBC.

The headmaster said that he would invite Onyeama to meet him in order to apologise in person and "to make it clear that he will always be welcome at Eton".

"We must all speak out and commit to doing better - permanently - and I am determined that we seize this moment as a catalyst for real and sustained change for the better," he added.

What does Onyeama say?
Onyeama told the BBC that the apology was not necessary and did not change his view of Eton, which on the whole was positive.

He added however, that the apology "compels the recognition that prejudice on the grounds of colour or race dehumanises its victims in a way that ordinary forms of prejudice do not".

He previously told the BBC that he had been taunted on a daily basis at Eton by fellow students.

He was asked questions like "Why are you black?", "How many maggots are there in your hair?" and "Does your mother wear a bone in her nose?"

Accused of cheating
When Onyeama performed poorly in academics or excelled in sports, the students attributed it to his race.

When he obtained seven O-level passes, the entire school was confounded.

"'Tell me Onyeama, how did you do it?' I am asked time and time again," he wrote in his book. "'You cheated, didn't you?'"

After leaving the school, he detailed these experiences in a memoir and in 1972 he received an official letter informing him that he was banned from visiting Eton.

The headmaster's response comes as some leading British companies and institutions, such as insurance market Lloyd's of London and pub chain Greene King, have apologised for historical links to the slave trade.

Those apologies were spurred by the recent wave of Black Lives Matter protests.

Eton was founded by King Henry VI in 1440 and has a worldwide reputation for its high educational standards.

Currently it charges fees of more than £40,000 ($50,000) a year.
