Lol... Women are so complicated aswear, sometimes, they don't even know what they want. cheesy It takes a really patient and understanding man to marry a woman.
This minute they are all over you, the next minute they are like "I just want to be left alone" when you decide to let them be kwanu, they will be like " so you're not going to ask me what's wrong with me?" cheesy and when you eventually summon the courage to ask, the next thing you would hear is " it's fine, don't worry anymore" wahala be like wetin again? grin

Like I said earlier, women are like children who needs constant validation and care from their men to make them feel special and same applies to men, as a woman give the same measure of care, love and RESPECT to your man and the equation would be balanced. Everyone needs somebody to inspire and love them at their worst time in life including men, so it's 50/50 agreement to make each other happy.

Just find someone who can deal with your madness albeit how little it might look to you and you both would do just fine.. Marriage is never a battlefield!!

Bitcoin is in for a volatile week as GrayScale unlocking looms

The GrayScale unlocking
The GrayScale unlocking is an event that has been the most talked about in the cryptocurrency space this month. This event involves the multiple unlocking of GBTC shares held by institutional digital asset giant, GrayScale.

GrayScale is one of the worlds largest digital currency asset managers with over $40 billion in assets under management. Starting from tomorrow, the Grayscale Bitcoin Fund (GBTC) will begin to unlock around 41,000 BTC ($1.4 billion) in GBTC shares, which have been subject to a six-month lock-up period.

Opinions differ about the unlocking’s market impact. JP Morgan stated in a release that Bitcoin will drop to around $25,000 as a result of the unlocking, while others like popular cryptocurrency analyst, TheCryptoLark, argued that spot markets will be broadly unaffected because it is the GBTC locked shares that will be released into the market and not actual Bitcoin. July 18 is of particular interest because that day’s unlocking is worth over 16,000 BTC.

Statistician, Willy Woo commented last week, “When GBTC shares unlock and get sold, the GBTC Premium drops (share price drops relative to the BTC in the trust).”

Woo added, “Investors now have more incentive to buy GBTC shares rather than BTC, it diverts some of the buying pressure on BTC spot markets. This is bearish.”

What to expect

The cryptocurrency market is in for a volatile week as the unlocking is set to begin tomorrow. Investors are advised to be cautious because there is a lot of FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) in the market surrounding this news. Bitcoin is currently trading at $33,400, up 1.36% as of the time of writing this report.

RedboneSmith:
Have you (or anyone here) read Dr Akinwumi Ogundiran's recent book on Yoruba history? It's called "The Yoruba: A New History". I suggest everyone with an interest in Yoruba history should try to read it. Of the three major syntheses of Yoruba history that have been attempted in this century, it is my favourite by far. Dr Ogundiran is an archaeologist and cultural historian currently lecturing in some American university.

According to him the original homestead of the Owu was actually far north in present-day Kwara State. The Owu (according to Ogundiran) were actually the first Yoruba group to acquire horses and deploy horses in warfare, before Oyo. By the mid-14th century, they had established an expansive state stretching from Saki to the Igbomina areas and south into Oyo and Ibarapa territories. (This may explain why there are places in Igbomina with Owu in their names. This Owu was also the state to which Oyo paid tribute in the days of Ajaka and Sango).

This old Owu state (according to Ogundiran) was later destroyed by Nupe militarists or the combined forces of Oyo and her allies, and the survivors moved southwards and reconverged in the rainforest in the late 16th century and built the Owu Kingdom there which was destroyed in the 1820s.
@Redbonesmith

Thanks for this info.

Where can we get the book to buy? Or is there a PDF version of the book?

I'm an avid reader of global history and grew up reading collections of encyclopedia in my family library decades back.

I like the fact that Dr. Akinwumi Ogundiran is an archaeologist. This would enable him to give near-absolute historical accounts
of events.

In Prof. Jide Osuntokun's 2004 article on the Ife-Benin relationship and origins in The Guardian, He did emphasize that there were many autochtonous communities in Yorubaland and the rise of Oduduwa does not signify the origins of Ife or the Yoruba people since oral history and archaeology show that Ife was already settled. The rise of Oduduwa only signifies a new dynasty, just like the current Oranmiyan/Eweka Dynasty of the Binis.

lizdammy:
Today, we are launching zero-commission, tradable stock tokens. Now, you can access both cryptocurrency and traditional stock markets, all from the comfort of your Binance account. Each stock token on Binance will represent one share of equity stock, which is fully backed by shares stored in a depository portfolio of underlying securities, in cooperation with investment firm CM-Equity AG and asset tokenization platform Digital Assets AG.

The first stock tokens on Binance will be of Tesla Inc., the largest automaker by market capitalization. Tesla stock tokens on Binance will have a minimum trade size of one-hundredth of a stock token, representing the same fraction of a Tesla share. Stock tokens are priced and settled in Binance USD (BUSD), a regulated stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar and issued by Paxos Trust Co.

How Stock Tokens Open Up More Markets For Our Users

Stock tokens make it easier for Binance users* to gain access to highly sought-after assets like stocks. We offer these unique advantages to traders, such as:

* Liquidity. Adding stock tokens to Binance makes it possible for investors to trade both crypto and traditional assets, straight from the world’s biggest crypto exchange by trading volume.

* Flexibility. We are making it possible for users to trade fractions of a unit of publicly tradable equities, turning them into more affordable units that have lower barriers of entry.

* Access to Traditional Stock Benefits. Holders of stock tokens qualify for capital returns on the underlying equity, including potential dividends and stock splits, as they would from holding traditional shares.

* Access to our Crypto Financial Suite. Aside from trading benefits, we also offer a wide-ranging suite of crypto financial services that augment your trading experience, from loans and savings products to liquidity pools and token launch platforms.

“Binance serves many users around the world and we are very pleased to be able to help them participate in the equity market. Stock tokens demonstrate how we can democratize value transfer more seamlessly, reduce friction and costs to accessibility, without compromising on compliance or security. Through connecting traditional and crypto markets, we are building another technological bridge for a more inclusive financial future,” said Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, CEO of Binance.

During the first quarter of 2021, Binance recorded a 346% growth in users, fueling a 260% growth in total trading volumes. As the total market value of cryptocurrencies shoots past $2 trillion, indicating accelerated crypto adoption, the launch of stock tokens opens up another avenue of growth for both Binance and its users.

Possibilities from Within and Outside of Crypto

Our launch of stock tokens opens up new opportunities for both crypto and traditional investors. Binance users who are knowledgeable about crypto’s fractional properties can now diversify into equity assets using a digital currency and platform they are familiar with. Meanwhile, conventional investors can access equities in smaller quantities and gain exposure to the fast-growing crypto market through the largest and most liquid digital asset exchange in the world.

The launch of Binance stock tokens is made possible through our collaboration with CM-Equity AG, a licensed investment firm in Germany, and Swiss-based Digital Assets AG, an asset tokenization platform.

“We are a team of people-focused entrepreneurs, capital market specialists, software engineers, and financial regulatory experts. Our combined expertise is behind the launch of our stock tokens. CM-Equity AG and Digital Assets AG, as the engineers of the product, are pleased to pioneer an innovative experience on the Binance platform. This new kind of token combines different asset classes that are offered in one single marketplace for instant settlement in a compliant, scalable, and sound format.” said Michael Kott, CEO of CM-Equity AG.

Binance will continue to respond to market demand by listing more stock tokens and launching more related features.

* Trading of stock tokens will follow traditional exchange hours. Stock tokens are not available to residents in mainland China, Turkey, and other restricted jurisdictions. Interested traders will be required to pass Know-Your-Customer and other relevant compliance measures.

Mstravelindiva:
Hello Nairalanders,

Ok, lets talk best and worst airlines. Which airlines will you never fly again and which airlines are your absolute favorite? I’ll go first!

A few of my favorites are Emirates, Delta Airlines, Singapore airlines, Alaska airlines, Lufthansa airlines, JetBlue airlines and Southwest airlines. I like each of these airlines because they offer comfortable cabin space in economy class, newer planes, and a overall great flight experience.

My least favorites are British Airways, American Airlines, United airlines, Canada airlines. They are just okay for me, not the worst but certainly not the best.

Travel tip: Pay attention to how the airlines handle problems, cancellations, flight delays, etc. As a paying customer, you should be treated as such and not like a number. Customer service is king when you’re spending your hard earned money, and you have the right to not patronize businesses that don’t treat you well. I payed close attention throughout this pandemic with the airlines, looking at how flexible they were with cancellations, refunds and rescheduling and took lots of notes!

As for low-cost carriers: I do like China Air (business class), Ryanair, Transavia, TAP Portugal, Frontier and Norwegian air as a low-cost carriers. These airlines are no-frills but will get you to your destination.

Please note: When I travel with low-cost carriers I typically only have a carry-on bag (no check bags), it’s a short flight (under 2 hours), and I don’t care what seat I get assigned. Baggage and seat charges can add up quickly so always remember to read the fine print before booking your flights. You might find that it’s cheaper to simply book your flight on a larger/major carrier when you add up all the hidden fees.

The airlines that I absolutely will not fly is, Spirit Airlines, period! They have very poor customer service and as such, I opt not to fly them.

Share your experiences and insights as well. Let me know who’s on your lists.

Safe travels and be well!
Insightful perspectives!

My advice:
If you do not require the TV licence, it’s fine. All you need to do is:
Visit the licensing website:

In less than 2 minutes, fill the form.
They will send you an exemption.

Afterwards, you don’t have to be glancing over your shoulders and frigging, cowering in fear anytime there is a knock on the door.

Yours sincerely,

Where do I start from? He is in his early 50s. He is the first person I practiced my 'nursing' skills on. He had a fresh, open wound on his thumb one time when he came for a visit. He was sleeping in the living room when I decided to give him so loving care. I took water and a rag, wiped the thumb, and then affectionately 'disinfected' the wound with cooking salt.

Suffice it to say that that marked the end of his sleep for that day. grin I was about 5 or 6 years.

He would pick me up and toss me around like a rag doll, or carry me on his shoulder and spin like a carousel until we were both dizzy. One time we crashed to the floor and my mum banned us from 'turning like pot cover' in her house.

Whenever he came, I would sit on his legs and refuse to come down till he left, and sometimes begged my parents to allow him to take me away.

In retrospect he must have been in his early 20s, so as he grew older and economic conditions took him far from us, we lost contact for 18years. When we reconnected thanks to Facebook, I was of course by now too old to sit on his legs but I recall squeezing myself on the couch with him and clinging to his arm throughout the visit.

He calls me his 'baby angel' and I respond like a child. He tried calling elder sister the same but she always looks at him askance, so he has stopped. I'm the butt of jokes for always acting like a child around him, but I love him like that. He is always smiling, very ebullient, always has a nice thing to say about everybody (no matter how evil you may be), always upbeat and no matter how depressing things may be, he always finds a way to be optimistic.

And that, daddy wa, is why you remind me of him. smiley

I was a full time super mod for just about 3/4months but I did it so well that almost 6 years on, people still assume I'm one. wink I've given up telling them I'm not a moderator but gradually I believe the calls have lessened over the years.

Please be safe because this Covid thing keeps metamorphosing into more aggressive strains. The sun yesterday was so hot, I wondered what kind of Covid can withstand this boiling heat so come and bask in our Lagos 'hot bath'. grin
Awesome feedback Ishi. wink You
must be busy at work right now

This is mad cool Ishi... I feel honoured to be put in the league
of your uncle. He def had a commanding presence in your
life. Imagine the adjectives you
used to qualify him here. It's
always good for dads especially to
bond with their children especially the girls by listening to them and giving them moral and financial support.

A lot of the "broken" women (single and married) who hate men never
fully bonded with their fathers.

Ishi, aha! You've been displaying
acts of empathy or aspects of "emotional intelligence" from back in the day as a "little nurse." grin
You would have been minting
cool dollars per hour right now
as an RN if you had practiced
professionally as a nurse.

I remember sending a message
to the Super Mods in 2015 about
an issue on NL and it was you that
promptly responded via email to
my concerns with understanding and professionalism.

It's these kinds of qualities that
real men are on the look out for
in any woman tbh.

You said: "Emi ke? Super mod bawo"... Ishi, yes you, the delectable Ukwuani babe. wink

I'm surprised that you only spent 3/4 months as a Super Mod. shocked
I thought you spent over 2 years
or more in that position. Thank
goodness you've clarified this. Lol

"Okay, you have said it loud!"

Last but not least, those of us
who are still around in the Covid era are true warriors and we
must not let our guards down especially with the Indian 3rd
wave. The 1918-1919 global flu pandemic took the lives of over
500,000 Nigerians alone.

My take to all is to:
1) Get Covid vaccine shots.

2) Washing of the hands with detergent under running water ruptures the virus.

3) Masking up.

4) Boost the body immunity
with the ginger, garlic, zinc,
vitamin C protocol which
circulated on WhatsApp.

The Lagos weather reports vary. While some areas experience rainfall, other parts of Lagos experience intense hot conditions on the same day! The Indians
(and Nigerians) live in hot and humid conditions and yet they
are battling a 3rd wave.

Cheers!

P.S. Okay Ishi, I'll ask you some important questions later within the week on your personal NL thread. I know full well you can clarify things for me before I take strong actions.

SPEEDEPITOME:
So I went to stay at some big brothers' place last weekend and they talked about their relationship issues. One common point in all of their stories was they spent money on their girlfriends and they still left. One of them started dating a girl when she was in 200l, saw her through school, he even got her a laptop for her final year project and after graduation, he spent over 500k on helping her move to a city and start up her business and that was the end of them. He tried with another girl, same thing happened. All of these guys have similar stories.

When I pointed out that they were probably victims of scam, one of them said ' spending on my girlfriend is normal coz she's my responsibility and that does not make me a 'mugun'.

I then came to the conclusion that these girls probably never liked them but chose to stay with them because they were their 'source of livelihood'.

My advice to the ladies, please if you will not stay with a guy, just let him go. Most guys except few like these guys will punish another random lady for your own sin.

My main advice is to the guys: when chasing a girl, stop putting money first. Try to establish friendship and not the I-can-take-care-of-your-needs attitude if not, you'll keep attracting scammers. Reason being that, you lured them with money and that's all they'll be after. These ladies will go as far as marrying you and leave when they are done with you.

Now, I'm not saying you shouldn't take care of your girlfriend but let money not be the reason ladies fall for you. Show them some other side of you. It could be your sense of humour, your level of intelligence or anything.

Every guy has that one thing that's gonna keep people attracted to them. What I'm asking is that guys should bring something other than money to the table else your partners will keep cheating on you with guys who are 'poor' coz contrary to what you think, money is not everything.

PS: I know there are no straightjacket rules as to how a relationship should be run .
My conclusion is based on personal experience, observation, talk with guys and my recent discussion with these 4 friends.
Well said!
Brilliant.
