Can we please have the full video. Let us also hear what the Chinese official had to say in response to the points raised by the consul general. Let's hear both sides. Apparently, it has to do with quarantine. Could it be that some Nigerians arrived China and wanted to escape quarantine and were sheltered by other Nigerians to evade quarantine? There must be an underlying reason. Those Nigerians have lived in China for years according to the CG. So what changed? Let's be reasonable instead of reacting based on sentiments.
The Chinese official had nothing to say. She even denied that coronavirus started in Wuhan when the Nigerian CG mentioned it. She denied and was going to argue. She was speechless when the Nigerian mentioned that passports belonging to Nigerians were confiscated, she even wanted to deny that it happened till the CG proved her wrong by saying that he retrieved the passports and that those were properties of Federal government of Nigeria and that China has no right in taking the passports away from their legitimate bearers.

Those people have been living in China legally. The CG told the Chinese official not to be discriminatory towards Nigerians. Those who came into the country were quarantined for two weeks and the CG argued that they should’ve been given some document to prove that instead of attempting to take them into further isolation.

Family › Re: Nigerians And Begging by KosiGee(m): 12:15pm On Apr 08, 2020
I feel disgusted sometimes seeing people posting their mobile contacts and account details but I’ve conditioned my mind to either be neutral about it or just ignore. I know there are many genuine cases out there that warrant some forms of assistances.

Nigeria lack social welfare structure. It’s either non existent or can barely scratch the surface in most places.
Some countries acknowledge the need to support and provide relief to the less privileged, this can come in the form of periodic financial supports depending on eligibility, grants, child care support for families, housing and accommodation, financial aids to unemployed...down to relief supports in cases of emergencies like the present Covid-19 lockdown, aids to displaced individuals due to wars, terrorism like Boko haram, ecological issues.
Nigeria lack these. Those who are eager to work find employment difficult to find...some people would pay and bribe to get the jobs. Not everyone would have the energy and zeal to pursue employment like others. The self employed do not get much support from the government, instead the various agencies oppress these individuals. Police would position themselves at strategic areas to extort from the public and we have began to see this as normal and accept it. You’d be blamed for engaging the police or Army in an argument instead to ‘paying’ the usual bribe.

In a society with such social anomalies, you’d see a high number of frustrated people with no stable means of livelihood. A nation plagued with corruption, social injustices and lack of welfare riddled with unhealthy religious and traditional practices like a man marrying multiple wives with many children while not having any stable job or means to train them, religious leaders exploiting and abusing children not forgetting that poor wage structures for most employed people...one of the reasons apart from greed that police and army would extort people, customs officers forcing business individuals to pay bribe, immigration officers soliciting bribe or begging travellers.

‘Abeg dash me some money’ has become tradition, a habit and national slogan. Everybody wants ‘God to pick’ his/her call. People ‘sow’ seeds in churches expecting to ‘reap bountiful harvedt’

Yes hunger is in the land caused by poor social welfare structure and irresponsible leadership.

Summary: People are frustrated and living on the edge. They would always beg...even the Federal ministry of Finance had to beg Elon Musk for ventilators. It’s a national disease.

Oga they were trapped there, our airports and Chinese airports have been shut for days, so how did they get out? Didn't you hear them say they were Isolated for 14days before being kicked out?
Travel warnings especially to China started since December 2019.
I’m not exonerating the Chinese police and government. They have a history of maltreating black immigrants. I just didn’t think the guy was doing himself any favour by making such threats on video. He was angry, frustrated and has lost his cool with the merciless and unaccommodating police men but taunting and saying what he said on camera was bad.

The Chinese who allowed and welcomed him and many others into their country should’ve handled better. They should’ve made provisions for this sort of thing. I don’t want to shout racism because it’s an abused word.

While we blame the Chinese, I also think that the Nigerian community and embassy need to intervene. Lack of communication and support can make things more complicated and frustrating for foreigners. I know that whatever Nigeria might be going through, Chinese or foreigners wouldn’t be treated this way. This video if done by a Chinese in Nigeria would’ve spurred the Nig government to intervene and the Chinese community wouldn’t take the treatment kindly.

The Chinese police’s inhumanity and the treatment of black immigrants by landlords are bad, if truly these were ejected from the homes they’ve been living in. Most hotels in many countries have temporarily suspended lodgings.

The chinese government should handle this better. Nigeria embassy/community should intervene.

The guy making threats in the video made a big mistake. Threatening to kill someone ruined the video and the message. He was the victim but has suddenly by his own unguided utterances turned himself into a criminal.

Their frustrations are understandable, being made to walk aimlessly in the rain isn’t funny but I don’t understand the idea of travelling to China within this period.
Don’t they have travel advisers? Are they not aware of the risks involved? Those who were ejected from their houses/homes need to be investigated by the community leaders but booking hotels/lodgings at this time isn’t wise.

Reports of serious cases of the pandemic have been on major media channels. How can these people not be aware of that. It’s embarrassing.

I think he shot himself in the foot by making threats of dealing with and killing Chinese back in Nigeria/Africa. That was very foolish.

You're not telling the truth. Everyone can make a claim about their family members on an anonymous unverified website like this, but know that we're neighbors, and nobody in our culture had a last name in the time of your great grandfather. in fact, almost all of our last names are our great grandfather's first (and only) name because the tradition began with our grandfathers who took their father's only name as their last name or our fathers who used our grandfathers.

I don't know how many portugese and brazilians you have in your village but again, this is Igbo culture we're talking about and you're lying for no foreseeable benefit.

I googled Okoliokonkwo and not one living human being is baring that last name. I see Okoli Okonkwo which is a middle and a last name and perfectly fine. But as one name, no. Maybe you can point me to the person? If your grandfather had that name at least one of his decedents has facebook. If these are common names in the 60s why don't these Okoliokonkwo have descendants online? What happens at the end of you lie? What do you gain?

I'm also not talking about hyphenated names which did not exist in the time you're referencing. But if they existed, and they didn't, they are entirely separate from compound names that imply being born twice.

There is a specific British decree that ordered people in the Nigeria colony must have last names, so pretending your Greatgrandfather had a last name to exposed people from the same region you're from does nothing for you. We know you're lying. Unless you're 12 and your Great Grandfather is from a more recent generation and even then, none of the names you cited exist.
You can also google or attempt to meet one Anambra politician called Uchenna Leonard Okonkwo-Okom.

Okonkwo I believe should be his father’s name while his grand father is Okom.

There are many other names like that around Aguata,Orumba and Aniocha.

From Enugu state, there is a Gbazuagu Nweke-Gbazuagu....Gbazuagu is also a well known name in Enugu politics. Nweke-Gbazuagu is the surname.

Can you give me an example of anyone else who's last name is a compound of their grandfather and their fathers?
in any culture on earth in fact, forget Igbo if you can find one among us
My great grand father had such name. My grand father had it. My father had it but never used it.

People from old Aguata local government and some parts of Aniocha used compound names. I’m talking about 40s to late 70s.

Portuguese and Brazilians use multiple names but not necessarily compound names. Mother’s and father’s names are included in the birth certificates. Mother’s last name comes first followed by father’s last name.

Okoliokonkwo or Nwankwonwafo are normal names in the 60s around Aguata lga of Anambra state. Apart from compound Igbo market day names, you can also hear names like Nwankwo-Igboaja...eg John Chukwudi Nwankwo-igboaja.

Chinese media lying started this mess, and China is in the process of trying to eliminate it's growing black population. The name of the man, to any Igbo speaker, is nonsensical

Okonkwonwoye

Oko - Boy
Nkwo - Born or Nkwo day

Nw - Nwa (Short) Child
Oye - A child born on Oye (or Orie) day.

Meaning this man's ancestors was born twice in one week lol.

Read with the eye of an adult. Take care.
There’s nothing wrong with the name or suspicious about it. Some parts of Anambra have such names.

His grand father would be Nwoye while his father’s name would be Okonkwo hence Okonkwonwoye. If he was born on Afo market day, he would be Nwafo and if he decides to drop his grand father’s name (Nwoye), his New last name would be Nwafookonkwo. Such last names were popular before the British came to our shores, before Christianity in Igbo land and before names like Chukwuma, Chukwudubem, Chiemeka and other names like that.

I feel sorry for this nurse and angry at mr Okonkwonwoye but I suspect that he might have felt paranoid and suspicious of the so called ‘antivirus’ that they wanted to administer into him.
We can never know what really transpired at the hospital.

Why did Chad wait until they lost scores of soldiers to a boko haram ambush before reacting, this is a retaliation ........for years the Chadians have refused to flush BHT from the fringes of lake Chad in their territory, BHT found a safe heaven on the chadian side of lake Chad because of this...... Nigerian army pushed them from Nigerian territories to Chadians territories, if the Chadians had cooperated before now BH would have been long forgotten
Nigeria Army has also lost scores of soldiers. NA has been ambushed leading to loss of soldiers, their ammo taken or forced to surrender them to Boko Haram. They have been captured, tied up and executed on camera and the videos spread...while Buratai was showing off engaging in press up exercises on camera. Bokoharam has engaged them in open confrontations. BH sometimes come in their Toyota truck convoys, rain RPG’s and disappear while NA soldiers run for their lives. BH sometimes shoot videos of these attacks

Give Deby and his Chadian men the respect that they deserve. This man isn’t a stranger to such operations. He showed Ghadaffi hell in the Toyota war, made peace with him, got his support and that of ousted former Sudanese President Omar Al Bashir when he cane back to fight former president Habré.
He has fought and survived many coups, backstabbers and rebels.

BH has suffered monumental loss because of Deby. He killed their men, broke into their bunker and carted away their cache of ammo.

Shekau is trembling right now and Déby isn’t stepping his foot off the pedal. The man knows how to play the game. Pls show some respect.
