In the "Bigger Picture", l think what is more important is to ask ourselves: Do all these "things and ways" of our parents, produce good adults (like you and me),.... when compared to TODAYS lax form of "civilized parenting"?

Judge the comparisons, based on the RESULTS!

The post is hilarious all the same. grin grin grin especially that part about calling you a hundred times in a day!
Somehow, it fostered "obedience and respect", in a "Parent" kind of way! (I am your parent, gerrit? ..Aaah, Dad, l gerrit 'puurrfectly' naah!) shocked shocked

You can see how dull these so called men of God are - what kind of imbecilic statement is this? Martin Luther King influenced people in the wrong way by speaking on national issues? Desmond Tutu influenced people in the wrong way when he joined hand with ANC to end apartheid? This man is a dullard - sincerely.

jusRadical: Ooooppppsssss! Just keep quiet kid!

When Ayo Oritsejafor speak, you people called him a PDP puppet ans insulted his person. Now you want to same with Adeboye.

Adeboye will not speak evil of those in authority because the BIBLE tells us no to do so.
My Brother, first, NO NEED FOR INSULTS! Let us "discuss issues maturely", like real men!!

1.) Ayo Oritsejafor is no different from any other "Nigerian Pastor". Very Materialistic.

Oritsejafor, like Adeboye, like that one of Canaan land,. have all used the people (Munguns) contributions, to enrich themselves, buying Private jets and living the good life.

2.) No ONE is asking any Pastor to play "Partisan Politics" (where you criticize a Political party and praise another).
THE TRUTH does not belong to ANY political Party.

All they are asked to do is SPEAK THE TRUTH! Simple!
If Mama Sikira does wrong, tell her the truth, If it is Baba Tamedu that does evil, tell him to his face, If it is Ibori or Jonathan or Buhari or Headmaster of my Village school, dont mince word, TELL HIM THE TRUTH.

3.) DOnt MISQUOTE AND MISUNDERSTAND THAT YOUR BIBLE.

The Bible says "SUBMIT"to those in authority. That is what Bible said, not the blasphemy you wrote up there!
"SUBMIT" means "to obey authority".

Speaking the truth to Power does not imply disobedience or non-submission.
Saying THE TRUTH is not the same as "speaking Evil". Infact, to "speak evil" is the exact opposite of "speaking the truth" because Evil = Lies!

TRUTH IS ALWAYS TRUTH!

Finally Bros, We Nigerians must ask ourselves a very simple question: WHY DID GOD GO TO ALL THIS TROUBLE OF GIVING US A BRAIN, .....IF WE REFUSE TO USE IT? ....instead, we PRAY for problems/things which our God-given brain could have solved/provided! shocked shocked shocked

It is this "gullibility of thought" that all these self-declared MOG's PREY UPON!

"Like they say, "fear is the Key that UNLOCKS THE POCKET of a Rich man .....and even that of a "POOR" Nigerian.
Pastors understand how to conjure this fear and play/exploit it to the last.
In an interview with Haaretz newspaper during a visit to Jerusalem, Adeboye said he had shied away from speaking out on national issues in order to avoid influencing people in the wrong way.

He also said he was aware of the enormous responsibility on his shoulders as the leader of a global church with millions of members.

“At times it’s frightening. In Africa you have a saying, the man who is carrying a basket of eggs must walk gently … whatever mistakes you make, you affect destinies,” he said.

Martin Luther King once said,
" The wickedness in our society is not because of the wickedness of the wicked people but the silence of the good ones."

***To ignore evil is to become an accomplice to it.

***To accept passively an unjust system is to cooperate with that system; thereby the oppressed become as evil as the oppressor.

***He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.
Like the Bible said "Test all SPIRITS..."....." Seek the TRUTH and it will set you FREE".

If it was "ordinary Mama Sikira or any Joe Bloggs, that said what 'Man-Of-Gawd', Pastor Adeboye, said above, well, we can EXCUSE HER/HIM, but to come from a supposedly M.O.G! shocked shocked

"Mistake" my bottom!
How can the HOLY SPIRIT make MISTAKE?

*Did Prophet Elijah made mistake or SACRIFICE TRUTH, using 'mistake avoidance' as excuse?
*Did prophet Elisha make mistake?
*Did John The Baptist make mistake?
*Did Joshua make mistakes

*Was prophet Nathan "playing Politics" when he told "King David" THE TRUTH, CONCERNING WHAT HE DID WITH BEERSHEBA, another man's wife? Was he "afraid of making MISTAKES"?

*What about Prophets Zachariah, Ezra, Nehemiah, Jeremiah, or Daniel when he told "King Nebuchadnezzar" of what will befall him, .... as led by the HOLY SPIRIT?

*Did Jesus make mistake?

This are "REAL" men of God, SPIRIT-FILLED, .... who speak not of their OWN UNDERSTANDING but as they are LED BY God's HOLY SPIRIT!

But then, "Every GOOD TREE will produce GOOD FRUIT"... It is "minor statements like this that give them away, if you examine it closely"!

No one is asking him to "play Politics or even comment on PDP or APC or make any POLITICAL STATEMENT".

But God expects him (and the millions of mungus who dont question his authority) to
just SPEAK THE TRUTH!

"The TRUTH"
has no Political party ..... it knows no "National boundary or race" ...and that is what the SPIRIT OF GOD WILL LEAD YOU TO SPEAK, ..that is "IF" you have the spirit of God in you, ap priori!

BTW: I wonder what was (will be) going on in his mind when he commands his "flocks to ALWAYS SPEAK THE TRUTH"?shocked shocked huh

Abeg, this is a very pathetic EXCUSE for DENYING THE HOLY SPIRIT or being a FAKE .
God's HOLY SPIRIT, if inside you, (for that reason, it was given to them on day of Pentecost) is NEVER AFRAID, WILL NEVER MAKE MISTAKE and is NEVER AFRAID OF SAYING THE TRUTH

jhydebaba: Lastpage! I'm not talking about only one man being poor here. If only u can know the root cause of the whole issue, then you'll agree with me that poverty has got a vital role in the whole crisis.

If the people have access to the basic things of life, I don't think that the leaders of BH would've gathered more foot soldiers.

If only u knew what 200 naira means to the poor people in the north who have been neglected by thier leaders. Now, here is someone brain washing them, giving them food and telling them so many ways in which the govt failed them not forgetting to manipulate the holy book to his advantage. Tell me, if u are in there shoes, won't u fight that govt with ur lastbloodhuh

I don't have pity for BH but the truth must be said.
I agree with your clarification, i.e "the big picture".
Poverty does CONTRIBUTE to delinquency.

But, such delinquency is limited to maybe 'armed robbery and petty stealing'.... NOT TERRORISM, using BOMBS! shocked shocked

Look at it this way: Take Lagos for example, places like Mushin, Bariga, Makoko, Ajegunle, Ijora, Agege, e.t.c are full of POOR PEOPLE!
..And full of armed Robbers but how many times have you heard that they DETONATED BOMBS there?
or that they want to convert the whole of Nigeria to Islam or Christianity?

I am trying to differentiate between an "ideological transformation" induced mainly by wrong religious indoctrination on one hand;

And "basic criminality" which can be induced by Poverty and more by GREED!

if its just POVERTY (or if Poverty was the "major factor"wink then most of these places l mentioned will be full of Terrorist,... something we both know is not the case.

Having said that, we can reduced the propensity for "basic criminality" by reducing the level of poverty in the country, especially the North.

Ironically, the North has a lot of rich men, has ruled this country the most, has benefitted from the oil wealth of this country more than any other region, has more personnel in sensitive posts (Military, Civil Service, e.t.c) than any other region of the country but they appear more backward than any other region!

In my OWN OPINION, l think its a combination of BAD LEADERSHIP (who dont make education of their children a priority! They loot the provided funds!...as opposed to what is obtainable in the South & East of the country)... and RELIGION (which the Sheiks and Imams use to CONTROL and MANIPULATE an already illiterate masses!)

I guess that as we tackle the Poverty, we need to pay serious attention to those who "brainwash" these poor and uneducated peeps into extremism.

Cheers Bro.

Is it possible that "TRUE MUSLIMS" can MOVE AGAINST this BAD HABIT of "TERRORIST" saying ALLAH AKBARU when they are doing their EVIL DEEDS?

Why l say this is that there are TOO MANY INSTANCES of a "Terrorist" killing the innocent and saying those words"!

if that word signifies "Praise be to Allah" ....and an evil deed (like slaughtering a FELLOW MAN) is being committed, it makes other people who are not of the Islamic faith (and probably a lot of true Muslims?) to wonder:

1.) Does that evil act being committed actually glorify Allah?

2.) Is that evil act a requirement of Muslims, to glorify Allah?

3.) Does that phrase inspire them to do the Evil?

4.) Why is it so that the phrase is almost a prerequisite for the most callous TERRORISM and BLOOD-LETTING?

5.) Why have TRUE MUSLIMS not SPOKEN-OUT AGAINST the use (and possibly BLASPHEMY!) of such phrase, their Religion and their God?

I believe TRUE MUSLIMS need to STAND-UP and BE COUNTED...... Just like these TRUE MUSLIMS we are celebrating here!
NO ONE trusts what you say but eventually, EVERYONE will have no choice than to TRUST WHAT YOU DO!
ONLY MUSLIMS CAN DO THIS..for themselves, no one else can!

Imams, Sheiks and Muslims everywhere must come out to condemn the use of that phrase, when EVIL is being done. Preach it in the Mosques please.

ALLAH CANNOT BE PRAISED WHEN EVIL IS BEING DONE! NEVER!!

Little by little, Muslims can build confidence, then move on to show the good side of their Religion (No religion is spanking clean, if you may know!) and let the "Light of the Good Side, Shine so much as to over-shadow the Negative side"

REFLECTIONS:

Religion should never DIVIDE US, it should UNITE us, after all, we all agree that THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD.....by whatever name anyone decides to call HIS MAJESTY!

That ANYONE does not belief or practice your own faith, does not make them an INFIDEL or of lesser standing before God.
Let God HIMSELF BE THE JUDGE! NO ONE ELSE!!

God is too Big and Powerful for any minion, mortal humanbeing to FIGHT ON HIS BEHALF!
If "HE" wants to Kill, he can do so with just the breath of his mouth, He can command his Angels, he can instigate "natural disasters", if necessary, to fulfill his purposes .....and WHO CAN QUESTION HIM?

But HE is a LOVING GOD whose plan for us (his children, or his slaves if you prefer that) is to live a fulfilled life!
All he created was GOOD!

As a Christian, l want us all to work together, to improve relations between us, to UNDERSTAND each other (not necessarily accept or be converted, that one is a personal decision of each person), to shun aggression, provocation and extremism towards each other, to be tolerant of each other, to do that which is good ALWAYS.

It is only then... ONLY THEN that we are ACCEPTABLE to ALLAH/ JEHOVAH.

any other thing is just IGNORANCE and a WASTE OF RESOURCES/TIME!

Cheers and Hi-Five to those "York Muslims" already blazing the trail. We need to emulate them.
And so? This is nothing but grandstanding. An opportunity for a photo op. What people will actually like them do, is to stop every form of hatred being preached by the imams in their various mosques all over the world. The woolwich incident was brought about by such preaching, and it's high time it was stopped. That would make more sense than this charade.

It takes little-little effort like this, on the part of everybody, to build CONFIDENCE!
You can call it charade and photo-Op but as a Christian, l will tell you that Christ preached Love and Forgiveness, not hatred and condemnation.

And one other thing, l am sure you will claim you are better than "them" but let your actions and utterances show that you are better!
And what better way than to return hatred with Love?

Believe me, it takes a "superior mind. soul and spirit" to do what they did.

MusicCafe: As much as I don't like to engage in a war of words with your type, it will be a disservice to objectivity and justice if I didn't comment. I don't know how true your assertion that Gov. Al Makura recruited Fulanis from Chad and Niger to invade Eggon Communities is. I do know when Fulanis have ever discriminated when attacking communities in Nassarawa State. They rob on a daily basis along Lafia-Obi Road, and just recently, a woman was murdered by Fulanis when they robbed a vehicle on that road. In 2008, Corp Member serving in GSS, Adudu was beaten to coma along the same road by Fulani armed robbers. They attack farmers from time to time in Nassarawa state. Alago, Tivs, Migili, Gwandaras and Eggons have always been the butt of these people's gruesome attack.

In recent year, it's on record that the Eggon people have become more militant- On June 2nd, 2012, Assakyo Village was attacked by Eggon militia, Assakyo is an Alago settlement in Lafia East Development Area. Unfortunately for the villager, they were nested in the middle of Eggon village, such that all roads were cordoned off. The town was burnt to ashes and 17 people lost their lives. The people of the town had to move to Lafia en-mass. That Town is yet to be rebuilt. In 2007, there was a clash between the Alagos and Eggons in Assakio. Not long after this, the same group also attacked Agyaragu town inhabited by the Koro (Migili) ethnic group, killing so many people and burning down all structures belonging to the elites of this ethnic group, including the palace of their paramount ruler, a second class chief. This same group also engaged the Fulanis, killing most of them and their cattle – the reprisal attacks from the Fulanis are now history.

They also attacked Kwandare, the home town of the governor, killing and razing houses. Other places affected by the activities of Ombatse group are Rutu, Burum-burum in Doma Local Government, where the village head lost his life in the process, and Kokona Local Government. From April 30, 2012 to May 1, 2012, this group invaded Assakio, a town established by the Alago ethnic group which is part of Lafia Local Government. During that invasion, more than 40 people were reported to have lost their lives, while properties, both residential and business interests, worth millions of naira, went up in flames.

The Eggons have several grievances in Nassarawa State, they are the majority in Nassarawa State, though they have just two local governments; Akwanga Local Government and Nassarawa Eggon Local Government. According to unconfirmed rumour, they wanted more local governments as Alago people who are not as many as them have 3 local governments; Doma, Obi and Keana Local Governments.

Secondly, The Eggons are yet to produce a governor in Nassarawa state since the beginning of the 4th republic; Abdullahi Adamu, the governor of Nassarawa between 1999-2007 is an Ankwei man from Keffi, Aliyu akwe Doma is an Alago man from Doma while Al Makura is Gwandara man from Kwandere.

There are so many things wrong with Nassarawa State, however wanting to pin all the blame on Al Makura is not justifiable.

I
So, its a case of long-term marginalization which in turn, breeds cultism/self defence?
But let us focus on this last issue: The death of over a hundred "serving men"! angry angry
What and who initiated the plan to go into that forest with truckloads of armed Policemen?

Jamisco: WHAT TRANSPIRED WAS THAT MOST OF THE SO CALLED POLICEMEN WERE NOT POLICE, THEY WERE HIRED KILLERS BY ;;;;;;;. THERE WERE ONLY 35 POLICEMEN THAT WERE KILLED, THE REMAINING WERE FULANI AND CO THAT WERE HIRED TO GO AND DESTROY THE VILLAGE AND THE VILLAGERS. YOU MAY UNDERSTAND THAT THE POLICE NEVER EVEN LIST THE NAMES OF THOSE THAT DIED AND THE FIGURES THEY GAVE IS CONFLICTING FIGURES, SOME SAY 31, OTHERS 35, OTHERS 91 WHILE SOME 100 PLUS. BUT LOOK AT THE FIGURES FROM THE SSS, THEY SAID 10 OFFICERS THEY EVEN PUBLICIZE THEIR NAMES IN NEWSPAPERS AND TVS, THAT WHAT THE POLICE WOULD HAVE DONE IF THEY WERE REALLY SAYING THE TRUTH.

THE TRUTH AS STATED ABOVE, YOU BELIEVE IT OR NOT, LESS JUST PRAY FOR NIGERIA
Good question. why the secrecy and cover-up by the Police? Whose idea was it to go into that bush, that day? Just to arrest one single old man? C'mmon, we are not stupid!

Why should the serving commissioner of Police who ordered this invasion, suddenly RETIRE, when he was supposed to be answering all these questions?

docadams: Well! Well! Well! As weird as your explanation sounds, it is the only one that made some sense so far. Otherwise, like u rightly said, the police authority should have published the names of the officers they lost.
See, the more questions we ask, the more we shed light on this matter.

Growing-up, l washed clothes with my hands but my own children have never washed clothes with their hands! They just throw-it inside machine and its done for them. They dont know what it is to live without electricity! I want to prepare them for "adverse life", God forbid, if it should happen.

I have a friend in Syria, who was a very successful 'local' businessman and his kids enjoyed every good thing of life.......well, until war broke-out! He lost everything and lives in turkey right now, ....but all the privileges are gone.
He does not mind but it is his children's disposition, to this adverse change of circumstances that is killing him gradually! They are just not used to suffering but now they are experiencing suffering (ration food, bath irregularly with with cold water, wash everything with hand, eat not the best of food, panic, fear, e.t.c).
I ask myself at times, "what if it was me"? What if l die suddenly? What if my circumstance change suddenly, what "survival skills" have l bequeathed to my children, to make the transition easier for them"

I try to learn from other people's situation and prepare my own children for the "worst case scenario" ...but still 'hope for the best', for them.
What we give to charity gets shipped down to Naija for those who are less privileged. Its just to give them a sense of learning to help others and not be too selfish or self-centered.

You may not agree with my principles but thats okay. Its my family, my children and its still my prerogative, on how to best prepare them for life.
How is your own children?

BTW: They also visited "chic areas" in Naija as l would not want them to think its all "doom and gloom" in our country ...and our house/area is not that "badt" as well.
Naija is not a place where you stay away from for too long only expecting to visit when things change! That change might never happen! I now see naija as a place where you're less of a target if they see you more often. I came here same year as you (01) but have lost count of my visits to naija. I recalled going home one time with less than $2k for just two weeks. Once you have a house and mobility the rest is small gist. Also you need to build or establish some kind of relationship with folks back home and I don't mean just your blood brothers, sisters, and parent. Am talking about those extended families, school mates, and co. I am very much aware that this relationship might cost you money both for phone calls or buy me this buy me that but it worth it. Always bear in mind that no one will travel from Sokoto or Kano to come and kidnap you in Ibadan or Ogun state! Both the planing and acting comes from within and it won't happen if you have some kind of ties with this folks but if na wave you dey wave them when you drive by especially when you see them in group or one beer joint, that's where the plan and all that begin! One one bottle each might have prevented that! I've been doing it for years and I had never blinked for once when it comes to going home. I was in naija this past March till April 20 with my whole family and we were all over!
This is "Wisdom", l identify with it.
I still visit the area l grew-up as a kid (we have a family house there and my 'portion' still dey there grin ).
I still "blend" with the guys we grew-up together, some of them are doing well, some are plain gangsters and 'drugist' but l mingle with them like we are still 15years of age! I respect them, they respect me.

It paid-off one day, when some "newbie crook" in the area hatched a plan with his goons, to come and rob my family.
"The Boyz" simply told him to forget the idea, they told him 'The bobo na "part" of us'! wink wink

I was informed and they brought him to me eventually, to come and 'apologize' for even thinking about it (and as 'Alaye Boyz' now, you got to part with some cool cash! ..to liven-up the atmosphere wink ).
I even misplaced my phone in my area, ... they saw it and brought it back to me (l "bailed it" back, even though Police says "bail" is free!) grin grin

I feel more secure in my childhood 'hood', than anywhere else in the world.
I know them, they know me, inside out.
I dont form big-man with them, l come down to their level.
I still play footie with them and occasionally, l just buy footie-boots + balls and distribute to my homeboyz.
Those sitting in "Lion-base" get their indian-hemp paid for,...on the house! shocked shocked
I dont drink at all but l breeze-into their beer parlour and buy drinks, stay with them for like 45mins (we argue over nothing sensible) ...and l am off.

Breeds comradeship and they would do anything for me. I dont keep excessive late-nights but if l have to drive around at 3am, OPC/Vigilantee know my Vehicle and its all "Bruus, stop going around at this time, welcome back, anything for your Boyz"? grin grin
I hope fellow JJC's will take a cue.

Billyonaire: Home? People still live abroad ? No comfortable Nigerian lives abroad.
So, EVERYONE in Nigeria is comfortable, right?

And EVERY NIGERIAN that lives abroad is POOR?

Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe, lived abroad....just to mention two glaring examples!

Its not always about money (even if the money was got from corruption and sycophancy ala Govt bootlicking!), at times, such decisions are based on family/children issues.

As for me, Nigeria will always be HOME, no matter how bad things get.

I wish it was better (just give me electricity ONLY, even if it is just 18 hrs and regular!) ....other things l can cater for but how can l build my own Power Station? huh huh

Generator fumes is killing a lot of Nigerians but they dont know it, Cancer rate is astronomical but they cant figure it out
.... yet some folks think those who decide to live abroad are poor, huh?
Have you ever wondered: despite all the money our "Governors and Big Politicians have stolen, when they get sick, WHERE DO THEY RUN TO?
The same Hospital we in Diaspora use!
grin grin That alone should set you thinking.

I dont want to name them but l remember our last President died in a foreign hospital, the wives of two others died in a foreign hospital, another one was "healed" in a foreign hospital, not to mention their husbands!

See what l mean by "its not all about money"?

I just hope and pray our Nigerian leaders (and their bootlickers!) would have the fear of God in them and stop SLASHING the QUALITY OF LIFE and LIFE EXPECTANCY of Nigerians, BY HALF!

I come home every year! I just love my country, too much. I wish l would retire back home, when the time comes. kiss

On one of my trips home, l took two of my kids to all the "shanty areas of Lagos alone", because l want them to "appreciate what God has done for them"! They could not believe the suffering they saw!
Since them, anything they dont need anymore but is still "useable", is carefully bagged and given to charity back 'home'!
And they stopped throwing whole chicken into the bin or wasting food, just because they have it plenty!

Lastpage!

BTW, its not a "fight" between Nigerians at home and those in diaspora.
we should be complementing each other, there are ways we can be useful to one another and all this "ego, beefing and forming big man" should have no-place in our interactions!

Pukkah: Please stop this divisive and spiteful line of thinking. You were so determined to make a needless conclusion on Yoruba Muslims in Lagos. What's your motive?

In everything that FFK wrote, the only interesting thing to you is Nigerian ethnicity/religion. Why?

Was Michael Otedola (a Christian) not an elected Lagos governor? Was Oyinlola not a military governor? You need to get informed and stop spreading hate and unfounded tales.

People like you have been told many times to stop stoking the fire of religion or making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Face the issues raised here by FFK and stop chasing Lagos' shadows.
Thank you for you response!

Let me also add that Lagosians (Mainly Yorubas but not entirely as Lagos has a large dose of mixed ethnicity) dont give a hoot about "the Religion" of who rules Lagos!

As long as the Governor DELIVERS in terms of infrastructures, good governance, probity and rule of law, he can be an atheist for all we care! kiss kiss

That Fashola is a Muslim (practising or not, is nobody's business) boils down to choice of his party.
We must understand that in the 'grand scheme of things', Yorubas (and they have influenced the minorities tribes living amongst them) are much more sophisticated that most people understand.

For us, Wisdom/Education comes first, mutual respect/tolerance comes second, self-criticism comes third and Religion is way down the line!
That is why the Boko Haram brand of Islamic fundamentalism will never find footing in Lagos.

Some hoodlums (hiding under Islamic religion) can try to infiltrate and incite chaos in Lagos but they would be roundly identified and "disposed" ASAP!
Do you think for one moment, that Lagosians with their love for freedom and social life would "hide" some Terrorist and give them cover, as is obtained in Northern Nigeria? Dont think so!

That this "BRITISH KILLER" has parents of Nigerian, nay Yoruba origins, is no less important than that rain would fall next wednesday!
He is as Yoruba or as Nigerian, as David Cameron himself!

Thank you jare, dont mind we 'morons'!
We be proper morons ....except that our own type of 'morons' dont suffer from amnesia! shocked shocked

EL Rufai "discharged his responsibility PROPERLY" ....No wonder NITEL is STILL DEAD today!
All our NATIONAL Assets he privatised as head of BPE (Ajaokuta, Delts Steel, NICON Insurance, Nigeria Airways, NITEL,, e.t.c) ...

*El Rufai first undervalued the companies
*Then sold them as peanuts to his "friends" in TransCorp and outside (using BPE)
*Then those ones (who are supposed to revive and make it work better) simple "stripped the assets of the Companies" and sold them
*Now, the Companies are either dead or in a worse state than El Rufai met them!

We are truly morons .... and El Rufai really discharged his duties properly! wink wink

FOR HOW LONG WILL YOU KEEP "CONCLUDING PLANS"!
Let us feel the effect of stable electricity!
Always "planning" and delivering NOTHING!
huh huh

CFCfan: Kuchi, who disclosed that N347 billion was required for increase in transmission of megawatts, said the generating and transmission companies could not be handed over yet as the ministry was poised to ensure that they were in good shape before their hand over to the successor companies.

What is "Good Shape"?
Does it sound like "We want to cream some money off first" ....before handing them over?
huh

CFCfan: She raised alarm that the handover had been hampered by lack of fund, adding that the ministry had been running on zero allocation.
What? DId you say LACK OF FUNDS?
Upon all the 200% increase in electricity tariff that we pay?

YOU SAID THAT IS WHAT YOU NEED TO ENSURE STABLE POWER SUPPLY, NOW STORY DON DEY CHANGE!

CFCfan: The minister noted that some six months into the 2013 fiscal year, the Ministry of Power had been running on N5 billion, being the remnant of its 2012 allocation.
So, you still have EXCESS 5Billion (remnant!) from last fiscal year ....
AND YOU ARE STILL CRYING "LACK OF FUNDS"! Chinekke!!
Now my second point is also applicable to the white people as well. Every child is supposed to have an idyllic chilldhood and a safe loving home and parents who love them unconditionally, but if the rug is pulled under the child's feet or if they have never experienced this basic comfort that is their natural birthright, they encounter a rollercoaster of emotion and need lots of emotional and psychological support so thhey would not be left floundering.

Now with a male child with no positive role model, faced with parental rejection or parents too pre-occupied they tune out of their children's emotional needs, and with the unspoken rule that boys/men are not supposed to cry and take everythng on the chin, this children's self-esteem reaches rock bottom, they feel marginialised, empty, worthless, lonely, unloved, their hormones start to go into overdrive, vital neural pathways in the brain starts getting altered, they start getting depressed and start self-destructing to feel in control, so they venture out into the unknown world trying to seek validation and look for where to belong to create the family they never had, and this types of gap are easily filled by Gangs on the lookout for members, Mosques, Cults etc, looking for vulnerable people to brainwash...

...And the rest they say is history sad
Thank you a million, for the bolded above!
Every parent needs to read this post, especially those ones who have scattered their home (for whatever reason)
When "two elephants fight", the grass suffers! Yes, the children of the marriage are the victims!!

Now imagine, what is the use of all the money they made, all the ego and self-pride that went with it, when their supposed joy, their inheritance on earth, has brought them this much sorrow, blood and disgrace?

I hope parents, (Yes You and your spouse) will think twice, before you scatter it, the children's life is at stake!

Reason like a human being!

It is called MORTGAGE!

You buy the house and pay in bits ...every month!

A registered Nurse can easily afford to pay 300GBP monthly, on Mortgage. Very easily!

zumbigbo: Adebolajo was an ordinary British schoolboy; born in Lambeth in December 1984, he grew up in Romford, travelled to school on the bus, played football and appeared to have a lot of friends.

His family – who are of Nigerian origin — were practising Christians, attending the local church. He has two siblings; a sister and a brother. Both boys went to Marshalls Park school, in the Harold Hill area of the town. At 16, Adebolajo moved to Havering sixth form college, and then at 18 attended Greenwich University, where he lived in student accommodation in 2004 and 2005.

"We left year 2001," one said. "And he was always a good guy at school, do anything for anyone."

"They were very pleasant, a very ordinary normal family," he said.

But Graham Silverton, 63, who has lived in the street for 25 years, said neighbours had a particularly bad experience with Adebolajo when he was a teenager. He said one of the neighbours' children, a teenage girl, had gone to the Adebolajos' door to retrieve a ball kicked into their garden and was insulted and punched by Adebolajo.

The family lived in Romford until around 2004, when it is understood his parents divorced and they moved to Lincoln.

Police had sealed off Adebolajo's sister's home in Romford on Thursday and Metropolitan police officers travelled to Lincoln on Wednesday night to carry out searches at the family home in Saxilby.

Adebolajo was frequently seen in Woolwich handing out Islamist literature in the High Street.

Choudary said Mujaahid had converted to Islam in 2003 and was a British-born Nigerian. He said he had attended meetings of al-Muhajiroun from around 2005-11, but stopped attending the meetings, and those its successor organisations, two years ago.

Choudary said: "He was on our ideological wave-length."

He added that Adebolajo was very quiet and that Mohammed, now believed to be abroad, also remembered Adebolajo attending events held by the group.

Choudary said he was shocked by the attack, ... I would not encourage someone to do it," he said.

"I don't think it helps to condemn or condone. I condemn the hundreds of thousands slaughtered by British and American foreign policy."
Thank you for bringing this post to life.

I have highlighted places that are think are very important, from my own point of view.

His father is a Registered Nurse, at Managerial Level, his Mother works for the Social Services!
Thus, he cannot be described as 'under-privileged"!

I also noticed that his radicalisation seem to coincide with when his parents divorced (ofcourse the wahala would have been ongoing before the final legal divorce).

Just think Parents (both fathers and Mothers) would pause and think about the consequence of breaking-up a family with children, through their actions, ON THEIR CHILDREN!

When these folks left Nigeria, l bet if they knew this would be the end of their sojourn, they would have stayed back!

Just thinking.

erniok: Thank you for this response.he has conveniently forgotten that man is a product of his environment.
Exactly!

As we grow-up, we are affected and "molded" by our environment. That is Social Studies 101!
Have you ever wondered why most Nigerians dont commit suicide ..no matter how bad the situation is?
(Lets leave the Boko Haramist out of the equation for now).

Our "environment" is what affects our mentality!
We have so many cliches to dissuade such fatalist thoughts!

This guy does not speak or sound like a Nigerian (and that is his environment affecting his tongue/accent)
I bet he cant swallow garri! grin

That apple analogy does not wash at all. Too many "factors" have been left out e.g, do we have the same type of "PEST" affecting Apples in Nigeria, as in China?
What about the effect of "environmental pollutions" like Carbon Monoxide, Fertilizer, technology as operates in China Vs. Nigeria?

Anyway, the British authorities have done the right thing: They described him as "A Briton of Nigerian origins"!

Well, his parents are Nigerian, so his "origins" is Nigerian but he is 100% British. End of story.
