spazio: Can someone pls advise or give me a list of some of the universities that when you have thier admission, yet you will still be refused a visahuh?

Thank you
In most cases,Community Colleges.

Also, be careful about schools that don't require any standardised tests. Recently, according to VI shared in this group, one or two standardised test - GRE/GMAT/TOEFL/IELTS for graduate studies and SAT/TOEFL/IELTS for Undergraduate studies is a MUST

I know of some CCs-
VIU, Devry etc. Google am. You go see d list...

Feexo: @Babsharon, Could you send me the letter of support to sordicafis@yahoo.com? Others, what does transcript evaluation entail? At what point am I gonna need/do it? I came out with 2.9 GPA and I want to know how it will affect my GPA. I am preparing for fall 2014.
Evaluation entails coversion of our GPA standard (5.00 or 7.00) to American standard (4.00).

You will need to check with your school if it's a requirement to get your GPA evaluated; if that's your case, you will need to have your transcript sent to WES or other recognised evaluation agencies. The schools I applied didn't ask for the evaluation, so I sent my transcript directly from my school to the US.

About your CGPA, it's kinda low and that might inhibit you in making choice of schools. However, google is your friend. Complement the low GPA with good GRE scores, working experiences and certifications in pertinent discipline.

All da best.

fidelia.john:
When I am asked 'what is your undergraduate percentage' can I give it in CGPA or I have to say it in percentage?
Guess your are someone like me that also read indians' visa interview. There you get acquainted with words like 'Percentage', 'Backlog' and 'loan sanction' etc. #lol

Anyway, that isn't applicable to our educational system. If such question will be asked which I doubt considering past visa interviews, it will be your cgpa. Hope this helps... #wink

bigfrancis21: Yes. There are lots of spaces for august. They are usually released bit by bit so you'll have to keep checking back at the page for whenever new dates are released.

The bank will give you an e-receipt or confirmation. You'll need it for your interview. Written on the confirmation receipt is your receipt or MRV number which you'll need when filling your DS-160.
...MRV reference number used for booking an appointment you wanted to say I guess bruv.IMO It has nothing to do with ds-160 #wink.
Keep up the good work Biggie

Go with what's on your I-20. Then you can explain if asked at the embassy that the program is for 2 years but the I-20 shows a year plus which is considered as a grace period. Shikena

wabi_wabi_91: They shouldn't have released you. You should have stayed there for as long as the Nigeria Police Force keep many poor souls behind bars for crimes that they didn't commit.

See how you are announcing that your father is ASP as if it is something to be proud of. Instead of you to hide your head in shame. Mtcewwwww. angry

It's really disheartening the way some people just open their mouth and talk. Someone came up with his sponsor's details and how it's gonna affect his chances of getting visa, just for you to be saying rubbish abt his Father. I question your upbringing. SMH. Is his Father an Arm-Robber, Smuggler or into hard Drugs biz that he will be ashamed to say it in public?

If you have scores to settle with some police men, then do that somewhere else and don't come here venting your spleen. In my opinion, you need to tender an apology to him. You have just hit below the belt.

@Amefrica: it's good to hear that your Dad has other businesses and sure it will prove He has more souces of income. However, hope you have documents to back up your claim?

FIZIK: Has nybody here profiled for internet banking in GTbank been able to pay for visa fee online without visiting the bank. It isn't working for me and I profiled all my accounts wit them. i have their token too.
Please shed more light on the online payment for visa fee. Why not save yourself the worries and go to a nearby GTBank. Remember you will be issued a MRV receipt stapled with a deposit slip which are required at the embassy.

eucharia64: Can a submitted ds form still be accessed online? i cannot recall what i filled for my sponsor if it was brother or uncle. Can anyone remember if their is any thing like brother on d ds form? Better still can anyone recall the options for sponsor on the ds form? If yes please spell it out
Don't fret. I don't think there's a part that asks for sponsor on the ds-160 form. The only question that's close to it is where you are asked the name of the person that will paying for your flight. Or is this what many consider as the sponsor? I stand to be corrected.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by lisadem: 2:38pm On Jun 25, 2013
babsharon: Yeah but u must perfect that when filling ur ds-160 .
Please o... What do you mean by perfecting it on her ds-160? How does she do that anyway? Is there any place on the ds-160 where you state your sponsor?
Afaik, nothing is gonna change on her ds-160. If her I-20 form shows family funding, she's to say it orally that He's her brother/Uncle in her next interview.

Lol @De Tus. You be real comedian. That's not the P jhor. She's not even expected to stay for 5 years without coming home @ least for renewal of visa.

nomso27: No@fittty. . . . .there must be an order so i heard. . . .because the servis payment nomba is needed in filling the ds-160 form. . . . .help who knw hw ? cry
@Nomso27: There is actually no particular order. You decide how you want it but will advise you do both simultaneously.
To clear your doubt or misunderstanding, what's needed to fill your ds-160 form is just your sevis ID showing on your I-20 and that same id/no is required while making payment for your sevis I-901.
The sevis payment can be made at the neigbouring country seme or preferably, you ask a relative/friend abroad to pay it for you. It costs $200. You take a decision and the house will expatiate on it. Story planti...
You can start filling your ds-160 form now and it isn't mandatory you fill it once, you can always log in and out but within 30 days.
My candid advice: make a MRV payment of 26,400 at any GTBank branch and proceed to the appointment website http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ to book an appointment since I expect u to have generated an application ID (from your ds-160), one of the requisites for booking... All da best

tinuowo: but I av already booked my appointment. Is't that I should fill another ds-160 b4 the interview date cos of this mistake?
Yeah sure do. You can fill as many ds-160 as possible, just ensure you update your application ID on the appointment site to the recent one you will be taking to the embassy.

Usually the documents are I-20, sevis receipt, appointment page and ds-160 form all kept inside your Passport. But never mind the people that will validate your data before proceeding for biometric would have it sorted out. Hope this helps...

Morris: @lisadem,
Lol ok thanks a lot. I hope I will still get a close date my skul resumes on 19th of aug and am planning on booking my interview by last week of this month please do u tink I will get a close date?
And secondly can I print my sevis fee receipt online and use it for the interview instead of waiting for the original copy sent to get to me? Pls reply me tnx
Don't mention. I can't guarantee you would get a date at the last week of this month. Only July dates were opened in Lagos and Abuja embassy according to recent posts on this thread. You can only hope that someone drops his appointment and you are online at that time to get the date. #possibility very slim#

Just keep searching but I would advise you go for any ealiest date in July if still opened.

To answer your second question, the online printout is also tenable if you don't get the original receipt b4 your VI day .

May I use this medium to wish peeps (regular members and those lurking #lol) that are going for their VI tomorrow. It shall be your day by God's grace especially U @Youknowurself grin. Go get it and come here to share the testimony.

@Swagger: you alone know your intention(s) and you shall be judged accordingly not by human beings but by Almighty God. Don't get yourself worked up if you think you are being alleged falsely, you shall reap the fruits of your labour.

Perhaps you should be more plain in your dealings and not give room for people to be castigating you. I know how it feels when you mean good and being alleged falsely. Learn from your mistakes and prove to be the good person you are advocating to the house and justwise. Justwise is only doing his job So no one here is a victim of scam.

Abeg make una let peace reign. Let's move forward #gbam

oduslamy: Please would d vo know that an individual once participated in the visa lottery?
Worry less about this lottery of a thing and concentrate more on what will make you stand a chance not to be doubted. The VO doesn't have the luxury of time to be checking if you have once applied for it or not but if you appear unconvincing, they have different ways of denying people. Such question might just pop up and your behavioural pattern while answering it might compel him/her to delve into it.

All in all, the VO can know but still needs your details... All da best
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by lisadem: 5:30pm On Jun 16, 2013
oduslamy: Hi every1! Please I will like to know if partaking in d visa lottery without winning and applying for student visa that same period affects your chances of getting the student visa. Thanks
Your question has no YES/NO answer. There are cases where people get F-1 visa with their participation in the lottery and vise versa. Just be prayerful and sound confidence n credible to the VO. He/She might not delve into it. All the best...

theDonBee: Hi guys. I have a Yankee tourist visa running and then I have interview for F1 visa next month. Do u think its to my advantage. Any precautions I should take?
Sure it is to your advantage if you have not violated any rules on entry/exit. My friend has same visa and had his F-1 VI 4 days ago. After the VO asked him about his travel history and he mentioned US without any rule violation, his visa was approved immediately without even checking any documents. So you are good to go...

Morris: @Lisadem.
Tnx a lot for ur good wishes ok am grateful. I know the VO must surly ask about the change of course and I plan to answer:

I started my own business as an entrepreneur immediately, after I rounded up my studies in 2011 due to my love for business, and that was when I discovered my potential and luv for business adminstration/magnmt so I accepted my current job to grow this potential and career I derive joy in.

Is this ok? Tnx
You are welcome. No one is an island. We are here to assist one another.
Having read your reason, am curious about your own business you said you started. Hope you can defend yourself further if the VO is inquisitive as well.
All in all, I think the reason is tenable and conforms with KISS rule. #wink SUCCESS IS YOURS!

Yes you can ONLY if your school will indicate 'Family funding' under sponsor on your I-20. You need to be sure of what will appear as I heard here that some schools do write sponsor name(s) on the I-20. All the I-20 forms I got show 'Family funding'. I am going for my interview next month at abuja,
I already have my 1st degree in Industrial Chemistry(through part-time) I finished 2011, and I have been working in a family friend's manufacturing company as Business Developer.
I jst got admitted to study Bsc in Business Admin/management at west virginia university so as to start from the basics of my new career path. And due to my skills in that area my Employer agree to sponsor me for my study and have agreed to give me the following:
Company bank statement worth more dan 25million
My 6 months pay Slip worth #155,000 per month salary.
Study Leave.
Letter of attestation/sponsorship stating after my studies I will join the management board of the company Fully.
And photocopy of company registration.

For me I didn't take sat or tofel it was waived cos of my 1st degree, but I already have a GRE result which I took last year dou its low score.
Please I need una advise my people I no wan go the twice. Am I good to go thanks house.
ONE LOVE!
You have a good profile but the success of visa still balls down to meeting God's favour on the day.I pray it's your day.

Work more on why the change of course from Industrial chemistry to business admin as it's a sure question the VO will ask and that will determine subsequent questions.

If asked about the standardised test, glad you already wrote GRE even though the requisite tests - sat and toefl were waived by the school. just say exactly what you explained here.

If I were the VO, I would issue your visa because your case sounds credible.#lol# So relax, be prayerful and work on your confidence. I pray you come here to share the good testimony. All da best. Others will add this...

GboyegaD: I guess it does. Can't remember right now.
I don't think there is a question like that. A close question as it appears on the ds-160 is this, "Have you ever used other names (i.e., maiden, religious, professional, alias, etc.)?"
This I think is only applicable to people that have done change of name, say a married woman etc. You have any contrary opinion? @Gboyega
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by lisadem: 9:52am On Jun 14, 2013
GboyegaD: Does he have to explain all that? If I were a VO, I can add to his confussion if he isn't sure since I have his mom's maiden name on my system, I would ask him for a family tree so quick and trust me, he will likely miss it. I think they know our culture is that of family ties as such, we have too many relatives thus, they don't need to ask details.
@Gboyega. I don't get your point. Is there a place where mom's maiden name is provided on the ds-160? Pls clarify.
