maclatunji: Sorry you are hurt, but facts cannot be twisted. The truth is a large portion of people sold into slavery in pre-Independence Nigeria were Igbos, it was not really fellow Igbos doing this but people with superior civilizations finding it easy to overrun the largely scattered Igbo villages that never found the ability to form a state of their own. Keep flattering yourself. Which superior civilization? Many Igbo slaves were captured by fellow Ibos and sold to slavery through intra-ethnic wars. That was why the long juju of Arochukwu was a point of no return through which many were shipped out. The late Legendary musician, popularly referred to as 'Black Moses' Isaac Hayes, admitted that his ancestors passed through the long juju of Arochukwu on their way to slavery in the USA. |
Romance › Re: My Girlfriend Only Calls Anytime She Wants Sex. by lozanni(m): 4:47am On Feb 12, 2020 |
Get a new girl in your life and forget about your ex, as the relationship is going nowhere. If your ex persists in coming to see you, tell your new gf about her and set her up to meet your new gf, this will send her a clear message that you have moved on from your relationship with her. Change your apartment, if possible too, far away from your ex. I hope all the above helps you extricate yourself from your ex; I only hope, also, that your ex is not the confused type who will now claim she still loves you, even though she is now seeing someone else. Sometimes people do not value what they have until they finally lose it. |
Politics › Re: 87% Nigeria’s Poverty Rate In North – World Bank by lozanni(m): 1:35pm On Feb 11, 2020 |
mandarin: A key factor that keeps poverty high in Nigeria is lack of access to finance. I strongly believe poverty in the south would have diminished so much should the youths and young adults have access to finance that could help their various initiatives in business and entrepreneurship.
One key point however that we easily overlook in Nigeria is the fact that states and local governments are not doing anything to empower the people but just incentivize them for electioneering purposes. Most financial commitments to poverty alleviation is cash based and what do a poor man do with money more than to eat!
Many youths and young adults in the northern states can still work on the farm if government focus on farming. Uneducated people can still learn to drive tractors or harvesters, can work in food factories etc but government is rather waiting for allocation from the federal and so 37(FCT Inclusive) states are waiting for their monthly handouts draining their creativity on how to confront their problems
The people with the lowest poverty are most probably the Igbo because majority are into buying and selling and that also has had negative impact on productivity of the country. For Nigeria to stamp out poverty people must engage in value creating activities including small scale manufacturing like we have in Nnewi, Aba, Ibadan and around Lagos and Kano. Youths must be able to access capital to drive their initiatives to generate value. I often frank at how cabals in the banking sector have cornered opportunities to themselves because whether we accept it or not, you may praise Sanusi Lamido as good CBN Governor, we are still reeling from the poverty that resulted from mass purge in the banking industry during his tenure. The spiral effects still plague the southern part of the country till today coupled with inimical policies that is yet to liberate micro financing after removal of community banks. We should reduce entry barrier to those who may be interested in financing youths initiatives, why must I have 100million to start a microfinance bank? what is micro about 100million? why can't we have Assets Financing Companies and real micro lenders with just a million naira even half a million. If for instance, i intend to fund market women selling vegetables, lending them 50,000 naira can change their lives. Why must our policies in the areas of finance be like Europe or China? Until we realize that strong commitment to taking people out of poverty is in our hands we should prepare for an explosive situation that will consume even the perceived secured rich people.
We can tackle poverty by also de-emphasizing inimical cultural norms like marrying four wives, women not working etc and focus on what we have that we can use to move forward, the first I will say is land, even the oil we emphasize so much we don't own the technology but we can start from where our strengths lie which is the land is ours, we have population that can farm, then the question is, how do we get them to work on the farm. From the farm we can look at storage, transports, transformation, selling, exports etc. Your write up is so on point about what can be done to reduce the poverty rate in the country. I remember a Professor, in my undergraduate days, who lamented that Nigeria's economy is so much service sector oriented (buying and selling etc), to the detriment of the productive sector such as large scale agricultural production, manufacturing and other things that will create value and wealth for the society. The above scenerio holds true for today and is further compounded by the lack of access to capital, whether micro- finance or large scale loans which would have served as lifeline to so many small and medium scale entrepreneurs. |

donstan18: Traditionally, a man is the chief sponsor of any wedding ceremony while the woman supports in a way she can. Reason, it's expected a man goes into marriage when financially stable and ready.
Allocating 50% to her passed a message that you'll be a type of husband who will be after the statistics of the wife's earning and spending. You sure wouldn't have done what you did if you hadn't any knowledge of her earning, you acted because you know her earning and that's a red flag for Nigerian ladies, because they don't like dragging and equal responsibilities in a home.
You don't go direct when you want a woman to contribute financially to something. You go Tactically[Not imposing, but asking how and where she can take care of, she'll choose, no matter the percentage of her choice, you lock up, keep the planning going, pretend like you are cool and then sketch out a personal plan of how to act worried and restless before her, she'll wanna know the problem, act like you wanna hide it from her, she'll be worried and pissed that you are hiding things from her, then you'll come up with a story and open up that you are facing financial crisis and don't know how to sort some things out concerning the wedding, she'll willingly help with pity without seeing you as a stingy or mean person]
No be everything dem dey form mancho, you go dey use your head.
You've spent on traditional wedding and for that not to be a total waste, kindly go and meet her, reason with her and go tactical, not directly with authority.
Happy married life in advance! You are a truly matured person ! You also know how to play the game |

donstan18: I've got many, but I'll tell one.
During my 100lvl registration then in school. Any graduate or student can relate how stressful, tiring and crowded it use to be doing registrations.
It was so sunny that very day with crowd of freshers everywhere, i got tired at some point and decided to get some rest under a tree. Unbuttoned the first two buttons of my long sleeve shirt for air while getting some rest
Some minutes later, a very big yellow-headed lizard fell from the tree and found its way inside my singlet[Singlet was tucked in my jeans], I screamed so high and got the attention of 99% of students there, while trying to make way for lizard by pulling my singlet from my jean, I ended up opening another way for the lizard to jump inside my boxer. At that moment, I shouted and nervously got confused that I couldn't differentiate my prick from the lizard in my boxer because both of them were dangling and dancing around as I was screaming and rehearsing makossa dance in public, jumping around the tree shouting and behaving like a mad man. People couldn't help because they don't know how to, rather, some were laughing and shouting in amusement.
As God had it, i successfully dragged the lizard out, it jumped out, nodded its head and was there looking at me like a fool instead of running, out of anger of embarrassment, I chased the lizard with my tattered clothes and ended up falling down while the lizard escaped. People were laughing as I was, just so FVCKING EMBARRASSED and PISSED that I was so ashamed to even stand and clean my cloth.
Fortunately, two ladies from the crowd stepped forward, helped me picked my scattered files and cleaned my clothes[Thou they were smiling and laughing while helping], and I had to laugh too in shame.
Nna eh! I just jejely gather morale waka comot, find okada begin dey go my lodge
Registration no be by force!! It must have been very embarrassing then, but I know when you remember it now, you will laugh softly to yourself |

Lack of self-discipline Don land the man in big trouble. Guys sometimes pass through the temptation the man fell into, especially where they had a very hot gf, who is now married. They tend to relive those hot days with their ex-gf, who is now married, in their minds and sometimes in discussions with their male friends. However, a disciplined guy will caution himself that the past is past and would not want to entangle himself with a married woman because of the physical and spiritual implications. |

1StopRudeness: Mehn these are shallow, infinitesimal issues I personally feel if u ain’t the the classic “me and my husband alone kinda woman” this isn’t worth loosing ur peace over let alone creating a thread to rant
He went to the kitchen he ddnt tell me, ordinary food, did he eat everything and not leave any for u and ur husband??
he put the spoon somehow, the spoon is bend, it’s broken..... Spoon... as in ordinary 100naira spoon!!!
He wants me to greet him first..did he say so??...oh please! This is the lamest one... what’s the big deal about saying hello and chatting when u see a person.
see, don’t get me wrong, I know we have different tolerance and organizing style as humans...and sometimes it sort of bothers some people more than normal when outsiders invade their space.....but these issues are so unimportant people will just say u are not accommodating at the end of the day.....
Madam let it go....a little accommodating spirit will make the issues u raised unimportant to you
Unless it’s really not about the spoons and pot of soup...if it’s probably because the guy isn’t allowing u moan as loud as u want or feel free in ur house with short skimpy clothes...just tell ur husband... I trust my guy....... Most women are territorial beings by nature, especially when it comes to their Kitchen and bedrooms. Your husband has to tell his brother to respect your privacy by not barging into your kitchen to take food without your consent. The lady involved should give her husband some time to sort things out as he might not want to hurt either his wife or kid brother. |

Abia state government can not handle the waste disposal issue alone. I will suggest they get consultants in waste disposal and management who will discuss with waste recycling companies on how such waste can be collected for the purpose of recycling it. The above move will create jobs for the waste collection individuals or agents, the truck drivers or companies that will cart the waste away, employees of the waste recycling companies and finally the companies or individuals who will buy the recycled products. |

As for the three men, I don't know why anyone would ever have such conversation in a public gathering, but let me just assume your fairytale is true. We would need the expertise of these three men to win the war against boko haram, wouldn't we? You only took one aspect of my article, how about the one of the friend who lost his job after quarreling with his colleague. In the second part of my write up, I was only quoting what those three men were discussing, if you enter public transport, you will sometimes hear some 'tales of the unexpected' some of which might be true, while others are just cooked up stories, that was why I said they were making claims and also had some of what they were saying in quotes. |

Diabolical people exist in official settings. Two personal examples I encountered will explain further:
1. A friend who was a Supervisor in a multinational company had an altercation with a colleague who threatened to deal with him. About two weeks later he was caught by the company security men trying to smuggle out, llegally, some inconsequential company products. The security men gave the man the chance to return the products back to the store and walk away a free man, but the friend became more aggressive, to the surprise of the security men who know him to be a very calm person, and dared them to do their worst. In the end the security men took it up officially and the dude got sacked, much later he came to himself and wondered what came over him in the first place. 2. I was in a public transport once and I could not help over hearing three men who were discussing about their deceased relative who had a quarrel with an office colleague who threatened to deal with him. Shortly after that their relative took ill and died. Upon enquiry from their native doctors, they claimed to had discovered that the office colleague was responsible for their relative's passing away and they therefore sought to exact their own revenge by sending their perceived enemy to the great beyond also. They claimed to have carried out their plan through visiting the office and giving the 'guilty' colleague a handshake through which their spiritual arrow was fired, which ultimately led to the demise of the guilty man. They claimed to have later gone back to verify that the man was truly dead and they were satisfied when they saw his obituary notice around the office environment. This second experience shook me up so badly as I asked myself: ' Is this how people kill easily and are also killed' |
