analice107: I hope you know that in material wealth, Esau was wealthier than Jacob?
Jacob gave to Esau animals as gifts but Esau won't accept them becos he was also blessed and had enough. He was never poor.
And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself. Genesis:33:9
The issue here wasn't material blessings, it had to do with the Covenant. The covenant of POSTERITY. GOD MADE A PROMISE, WHO WILL STAND AND WORK TO BRING IT TO PASS?
God chooses who will be steadfast no matter the heat, not the one who will break.
Go and find out what Esau did when the heat came. He went wild with the women God had commanded that they shd not touch.
Amalek was he bastard son who turned out to be a serious thorn on the Flesh of the Israelites when they came out of Egypt, and after many years later.
The Amalekites, just like the Muslims today were a serious ache to the nation of Israel all because Esau couldn't take the heat and stay focus.
Under heat, how do you handle situations?
God sees the end from the beginning, because he gives us Free Will to act, He knows who will fail.
Jacob kept his family intact under God, God.saw that long before he started having the kids.
It was all about the Covenant bro.
Reuben was Jacobs first son, why didn't God pick him to fulfill the Promise he made to Abraham, that He will send his descendants to a Strange land to multiply, then later bring them back again to Canaan? That was becos, he saw that Reuben was soft towards women. Reuben wouldn't have resisted Madam Potipher's sex offer. Right under his fathers roof, he had sex with his father's wife. God saw that.
What about Simeon the second Son? He had Temper issues, What about Levi, the third? He was quick to take revenge.
Attitude was and is everything.
Bottom line, Before God calls you into a covenant, He knows what you can do. Who assigns attitude? In exodus, this ur god made Pharaoh stubborn, by 'hardening his heart'. And after all he creates all things eh? Why didn't this god create Esau with the right attitude? |

You need to understand that the story of Jacob and Esau you know was written by Jews, Jews whose ancestor is Jacob
While Esau went to became a great man in Edom( a nation south of ancient Israel: modern Palestine)
God the creator(if you chose to call it that) might not have made Jacob greater than Esau but we would never know because we know only the story told by the jews to massage their bigoted ego |

I was thinking to myself the other day and thought, What is the difference between Owa, Oba, Olofin, Oloja, Olori, and Olu; all being words used to refer to Kings in various parts of Yorubaland I will even had 'Oga' as it is a term used to refer to superiors
Olofin and Olori are sure easy to break down to 'law giver' and 'Head/Leader' respectively There's also Ọlọfin which is a standard more popular version of Aláàfin meaning "owner of the palace"
from history we know 'Oba' has been used in Ife since time immemorial, and can be broke down to 'o ba' he that regulates (controls the affairs) which is the original title of the Aborigine Nobles that Oduduwa met in authority before becoming Ooni eg. Oba Iwinrin, Oba Ilejugbe etc
Worthy to Note that the Olukumi people of Delta State refer to their King as 'Oloza' from 'Oloja' |

Probz: I was always under the impression that Igbos are the single most well-travelled Nigerians and generally constitute the face of Nigeria save for in the UK, where Yoruba language and culture is admittedly x101 more influential. Shey you're aware that only in mainland Britain that Yorubas outnumber Igbos?
Blow your useless and pathetic insults, abeg, but you can rest firmly assured that I'm no bigot. I'm just not here to see Yorubas blowing their Oduduwa propaganda in the exact same way that I can't get behind all these jobless IPOB idiots and their senseless Biafra agitation.
Yorubas outnumber Igbos by a ratio of anywhere in the region of 1.5-3:1 and counting in every major UK city with a sizeable Nigerian populace and Yoruba's by far the most widely spoken and well-known language here. I'm aware it's the converse in the U.S. (esp. in Houston/Dallas) and most other nations in the world. That's all cool. I only have an issue with it comes to highly tribalistic and largely unexposed Nigerians who see their own tribe as superior going by their limited anecdotal 'experience.' Plenty of these people have never even stepped foot outside Lagos sef, but because a few of una have heard of Peckham/London you think you know what's going on in the diaspora (before you start, that's not necessarily aimed at una). At least get to grips with the basic facts and make a more informed view instead of posting ego-inflating messages on Nairaland and calling out Igbos for supposedly doing the same. Especially when una no get evidence and the other group does. what is all this epistle for now? you are now a ranting bigot o |

I hope you know you are a bigot? The dude didn't say anything that isn't true. ...Yoruba really is the dominant black influence in the diaspora. . I await for opposing views from Yorubas. why should there even be opposing views? It is in fact a thing of pride that Yorubas weren't raped and forced into slavery in large numbers yet have its culture so dominant in the diaspora History let's us know that we didn't sell ourselves and weren't sold by others until towards the Fall of Oyo empire in the late 18th century. |

How are you- Ba wo nee
Good Morning- Ẹ ku aarọ
Good afternoon - Ẹ ku ọsan
Good evening - Ẹ ku alẹ
(if you're speaking to an elder man, end the greeting with sir. If an elder woman, end it with ma)
I don't understand- Ko ye emi
Yes- Bẹ ni
No- Ó ti
Do you speak Yoruba?- Ṣe o nee sọ Yorùbá?
(you respond with)
Yes, very little. - Bẹ ni, diẹ diẹ (pronounced deeye deeye).
Tell me Hausa there is no need for a 'ma' or 'sir'.. the 'E' prefix is sufficient for formal or respectful expression |

chrisxxx: We are far past the argument of Jesus' birthday. Jesus was born. The date of His birth presently celebrated may not be exact because He was born as nobody. He lived the life of a commoner until His ministry began. The celebration of Christmas is only a remembrance of the benefits of His birth and existence. So celebrate with soberness in full consciousness of the essence of His once physical existence on earth. Luvdmx: Jesus christ was not born on Christmas day but He's the reason for the season.
Share the love and drink responsibly. Cheers and why are Christmas traditions identical to the tradition of the European pagans during the season? Jesus has nothing to do with Christmas. .. let the church tell lies as they wish facts are facts. Christmas is a pagan holiday |
