marvix, it's very clear you dont know anything about the civil service, the civil servants are supposed to be professionals even when they are not, they've spent time at the jobs and have thereby gathered experience, so it's safe to say quite a number of civil servants know when they have a minister that doesn't know his right from his left, but seeing as political power is what counts in nigeria, they cant do anything, and so the adopt a 'lets just wait, sebi it's just 4 years maximum' approach. . .and the foregoing isn't limited to PHCN alone, it happens in all government agencies.

Solid Foundations laid by Yaradua
1. The funding of power projects are legal.
2. Extensive and detailed design of how to solve the power crisis vis a vis identifyin workplans, milestones and schedules.
3. Solving or at least bringing respite and an air of peace in d ND, to increase d access of gas to power stations.
4. Allowing the power stations more freedom to develop and paying them promptly for their power generated and monitoring their performance.
5. Enthroning due process in the activities of PHCN.
And a host of others.
When I talked of GJ and Yaradua I wasn't comparing them what I was saying is that right now people in Nigeria are already enjoying the improvements in the power sector and this is an evidence that Yaradua and Babalola has been workin or were u thinkin that Jonathan without a minister achieved that within 4 weeks.

I'm sorry 4 u, u actually know next to nothing abt d civil service and civil servants, but I will just highlight what we have in d civil service 4 ur education
1. Civil servants in Nigeria are the most corrupt set of people.
2. They are supposed to be professionals in their fields but they are actually very ignorant abt what they are supposed to do, the only thing on their minds is scratching for one allowance or the other.
3. They are averse to change.
4. Senior Civil servants in todays civil service started with O'levels and started buying degrees to get promotions that's d reason y a good number of them are educated illiterates, there is an engr in my office who served in d civil service when u ask him to send a mail he wld prefer to save on a flash and bring to ur office because according to him that way is more assured that u got it, today he was asked to send a mail from his box to our partners he couldn't do it was now complaining that that's y he needs a secretary.
5. Civil servants are fault finders but never able to proffer solutions except to ask for more money to go and buy the solution.
Let me just ask you to go and sit down with a civil servant and discus his job with him you wil see that they are just clueles if u tell them abt dis fora they wld laff a very ignorant lafta.

All that said the original arguement I had with u is dat d unions hav no moral justification to shut down power plants if Babalola was re appointed their minister because they are partners in failure.

Well my light has been relatively steady in PH at least from 7pm wen i got home to 7am when i left this morning light hadnt blinked.

How about starting a new thread for everyone to give updates on power situation in our different areas in Nigeria so that we can actually asssess the progress PHCN is making or otherwise and at the end of the week we can at least have a reasonable assesment of PHCN. All those who have run away can at least see if we are making progress or not but please if u are in UK we dont want to know if u have been enjoying 34hrs of light a day. Suggestions are welcome on what the new thread should entail and what format it should take.

Somebody was on this forum berating me because i said there is light at the end of the tunnel CGKING where are you, read all these posts and go and do your investigations I know you can still come out to tell us that the govt went to borrow power from neighbouring countries to deceive us so they can win 2011 votes shior.

All this that we are noticing now is the work Yaradua and the dissolved cabinet has been doing since, the other day Barkindo was telling us that he has excess gas that PHCN is yet to utilize and PHCN said they were already generating about 3000 to 4000MW and once the other power statios come on strean after fixing what is wrong with them the 6000mw will be exceeded. My contact in PHCN had told me a long time ago that if power generation gets to 4500 mw Nigerians would not be able to complain and now i guess we are seeing this already.

This doesnt stop here the govt still has 10,000MW to meet by December and they are working seriously towards it, one day I hope history will vindicate Yaradua as a man who tried and laid a solid foundation for the liberation of this country from all our woes.

Here are evidence that this is not just a section or regional achievement where some mischief makers will tell us that all the power has been used to service them, from Kaduna to Lagos, to Port harcourt to Ebonyi but pls if u are yet to start experiencing this kind of embarrasment just be patient and pray that we have peace so that ur expectation will be met

Sometimes I just get very bitter reading some posts on this forum. Pls does anyone thinks its a small task being a minister in this country, the stres on our ministers in this country would overwhelm some presidents.
How can people judge Dora on her handling of Yaraduas health, is that what her job specs as a minister of info nd comm entails. Some people just believe that castigating pple in authority is d best way to show dat u undastand politics and makes u an activist.
Dora did nothing wrong in acepting d job, she didn't perform woefully on the job and there was no reason to resign in a govt like Yaraduas because yaradua listens, rememba d issue btw her and Ndukwe on the sale of the 2.5ghz frequency, even afta d AGF advised in favor of Ndukwe Yaradua ruled Ndukwe out of order and took Doras side and d sale was cancelled, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala didn't enjoy that type of treatment from Obj despite all her contributions.
Dora should be assesed by her performance @ the ministry of info and comm, like was she involved in corruption, did she award contracts that have been abandoned, did she add value to the parastatals that were under her supervision, did she represent the govt well, those are the yardsticks that should be used in assesing this woman and not the way she handled d personal health of Mr President, moreso she isn't the spokesman of the president but spokesman of the govt, if anyone was to give us the position of d health of the president is d president himself which he can decide to do thru his spokesman.

I still stand by my opinion that a pastor should not be involved in politics especially the kind of politics we have in Nigeria. ArchBishop Desmond Tutu and Rev Martin Luther King are not the people whose message pastor Bakare claims to preach, Bakare gave his life to Jesus Christ and took up a job in his vineyard his ultimate role model is Jesus, not even Elijah or Isiah or any other prophet in the bible or any of the disciples or apostles.


When Jesus' forerunner John the baptist was beheaded his disciples came up to him and ask him to revolt or do something Jesus answered and said my kingdom is not of this earth, were the government of the day right when they came to arrest Jesus, No, yet Jesus went ahead to perform a miracle for the soldier Peter had cutoff his ear, the ultimate commission Bakare was given or he claimed to have been given by becoming a pastor is go ye therefore into the world teaching the nations and reconciling men unto God and not reconciling govt to the people.


As someone had said earlier Pastors like traditional rulers are supposed to be neutral always preaching peace and not taking sides and that is what i expect from the man of God.

We dont need Bakare to know that the retired generals brought us to this mess. His utterances make us doubt his call to the ministry especially when u consider his background a boy who grew up as a staunch muslim became an activist and then a pastor and now a politician, are we not sure he just used the church to gain popularity becos he has always loved being sensational and in the news if he wasnt a pastor who would even bother with what he thinks, so Bakare can come out straight with Nigerians and tell us on which side he is, Is he a Pastor or an activist? because you cant be both
