PoliticsRe: Lagos To Get Bicycles Lanes by matrixme(m): 2:36pm On Oct 29, 2012
This is superb idea, coming from Lagos state. It's good to learn of such future-conscious plan of the city that would eventually be a hub and a model for the Nigerian transformation. While the extremists are bombing out their spleens up-north, some people are down south, making progress. Let's hope people take the plan as well-intended, though Lagosians are open and civilised anyway!
Christianity EtcRe: Today Sermon In Your Church And The Lessons You Learnt From It by matrixme(m): 11:49am On Oct 28, 2012
The message was titled New Creation Realities.
We should be able to answer three questions, now that we're in Christ.
1.Our identity- the root of man's fall, and the first temptation of Christ.
2.The abilities we now pocess - the divine ability and grace now given unto us
3. The divine resources now ours.
I really felt blessed by the concise message!
BusinessWhy Is It That Majority Of Young People In Nigeria Are Not Entrepreneurs? by matrixme(op): 1:09pm On Oct 25, 2012
It seems that most businesses in the country today are formed by people who are beyond 25, especially when they have finished a degree program of some sort. While smart 18-year olds are C.E.O's of business enterprises in other (not all) countries, majority of young people around here are busy gallivanting around town with their parent's hand-me-down cars, and spending off the later's money extravagantly. Given the diverse opportunities that abound in the country today, I would have believed that Nigerians used to be business-conscious and hardworking sets of people, but why not at their young? I'd love a critical analysis of this issue, please.
EducationRe: Oyedepo To Lay Third Varsity Foundation In January 2013 by matrixme(m): 8:42am On Oct 24, 2012
What's the point of trying to change the world anyway, by equipping only the elitist few. What guarantee is there that the noble action will be spread round equally and eventually? I recently learned that even in the church's nursery school, of which we have a ward there, you're mandated to pay your fees in full, i.e no half payments. I should expect a kinder approach from a secular institution. If this is a good representation of God, then He must be so distant from the reality of things!
PoliticsRe: Chinua Achebe: Why Nigerians Hate Igbo by matrixme(m): 4:16pm On Oct 21, 2012
If Mr Achebe thinks he can sit in the comfort of his cozy home in continental United States to set aflame the controversial, combustible stuffs of yesteryears, then he hasn't got it. He isn't aware of many bright young westerners, growing up and sharing positive friendships with the Igbo people, while unconscious of the sad tales of the Civil war and hasn't read his literature. He should plant trees instead.
Christianity EtcRe: Is It Sinful For A Christian To Listen To Secular Music??? by matrixme(m): 10:39pm On Oct 18, 2012
I personally believe that there are fine secular songs that just portray the state of mind of the artiste, not really illuminati-minded or something that are worth listening to. I wouldn't want to mention names. After all, songs have always existed before Christianity came. I also think that there are many genres of Gospel music nowadays that could keep one hooked and continually listening-in, ike rap, rock, R&B and the likes, if you don't allow yourself to be indoctrinated into believing that the devil now possesses all gospel artistes that are singing extreme music genres. We're mostly being blind-folded religiously these days from the spontaneity of life.
PhonesRe: Blackberry Phone Becomes A Source Of Shame For Users by matrixme(m): 7:31am On Oct 17, 2012
I used to be very cynical about blackberries too, until I laid my hands on one. I now feel like I seriously can't use any other smart phone again, having used Nokia Symbian extensively, and observed android (which I think is such a crap). Americans may love Apple or any other mobile OS, but I think here in Nigeria, we love and have accepted the simplicity of Blackberry phones, especially with its cheap internet subscription. It's now kind of a geographical thing, like Asian noodles and American hamburgers.
FamilyRe: Our Kids And Modern Cartoons. by matrixme(m): 12:04pm On Oct 15, 2012
It's really quite concerning to see the state that present-day cartoons have degenerated into. It seems the devil himself already bought a stake in Cartoon Network in particular, to warrant frequent features of demons and nearly demonic character. You need to actually sit down to observe the violent and very occultic nature of most episodes. I don't want to start superstitious, but I believe we're raising a different set of kids these days. The good ones like Word girl that performs heroic actions while teaching English words, among others are unpopular compared the extreme ones
CrimeRe: ALUU Community Recounts Its Losses After Student's Rampage by matrixme(m): 7:09am On Oct 13, 2012
I really would be frugal, and not like to have my sympathy diverted just anyhow, for nothing should ever justify the killing of 4 young students for petty, materialistic gadgets. Especially since the perpetrators have not been fished out entirely yet. The question to ask is, where were those people who's properties was torched when the evil act was being perpetrated? and these I believe, should be prominent citizens in that community for that matter. With the rate community news is being perpetrated these days, you will have to be living in a cave for such news not to have reached you as it is happening. I remembered when I was living in Ilara-mokin community as a student. I was woken up one morning by the noise of the villagers to see a thief who they caught earlier that day and is now being beaten and 'shamed' to the king's palace, where appropriate justice was to be meted out to him. I don't want to sound tribalistic, but one would have expected more saner justice system from Yoruba communities....
PoliticsRe: Robbers Invade Flood Victims’ Camp In Onitsha, Cart Away With Food Items by matrixme(m): 1:31pm On Oct 08, 2012
I wonder how people like these robbers think they can make it in this 21st century where people are getting more open and receptive of themselves. I should say that nobody should complain bitterly when culprits like these are burnt for such inhuman crimes, not on some upgradable, materialistic product that is not worth the life of a chicken in its complexity. We ought to know how and when to separate facts from emotions and when to combine both. I personally think that governor dude has not spoken reasonably. Instead of being conclusive on how to hunt and apprehend the criminals, he is more keen on politicizing the whole affair. Politicians and their attitude sha..
SportsRe: Nigeria Needs N7bn For 2016 Olympics — Sports Minister by matrixme(m): 1:01pm On Oct 01, 2012
I guess it won't be hard for him to call such an amount, since he doesn't sweat it all out to gather it together. It is always...there.
PoliticsRe: Ondo State Governorship Debate Live On AIT. by matrixme(m): 8:25pm On Sep 28, 2012
You guys should keep decieving yourselves with your fancy computation. Majority of us that will eventually vote are not even hooked up to A.I.T tonight. We don't want a demagogue to rule us again this time. The fact that some politicians make fine speakers don't bring breakfast to the table of the masses. We have made up our minds.
PoliticsRe: We've Done Our Best On Flooding - FG Declares by matrixme(m): 11:58am On Sep 27, 2012
It's rather shocking to read the headline, and indeed the whole news when even good roads for humans to commute safely are not assured, how much more a passage for water? It is a good argument anyway, that nature can't be stopped. But that does not mean we should admit defeat readily. Our government around herereally need rapid updates and add-ons.
EducationRe: NUC Bans Re-sit Exams In Universities by matrixme(m): 2:17pm On Sep 22, 2012
My intellectual reasoning wanted to castigate the idea of remedial examinations, being a university student myself, but I was flanked by my natural reasoning. If we could have two 11o'clock's in a 24 hour period, likewise two 'fruitening' seasons in a year, and a second chance to be born, why can't we allow ourselves a second period of grace?
PoliticsRe: Muslims In Jos Protest Film On Prophet Mohammed by matrixme(m): 6:40pm On Sep 13, 2012
I really hate to get into this volatile kind of religious conversation, as I can't but wonder aloud why Allah don't use muslim elites to propagate Jihad. Or I should reframe: Why are the really popular Muslim elites often unwilling to submit themselves to be at the forefront of these kind of Jihad?
Christianity EtcRe: Oyedepo's Slap Suit Goes To Appeal Court by matrixme(m): 12:34pm On Sep 09, 2012
I guess it's not all of us that have come to church for ministration afterall. Similar cases occur the U.S where people sue Churches for ''Holy Spirit injuries". We should understand that it is a fallen world... On a more sober note, I think there are many more serious issues that affect the citizens of our country negatively which worths his legal crusade: like corruption of government officials everywhere, unemployment, the neglect of the poor and elderly, insecurity and many other vices. I don't think the lawyer is exactly bettering the cause of humanity by his actions. Most probably, he has an ulterior motive...
PhonesRe: What Did Apple Really Invent? by matrixme(m): 10:11pm On Sep 03, 2012
May Steve Jobs haunt you guys in your sleep! The visionary enterpreneur that had to literarily die in his quest to make the world romance QUALITY tech products! If Apple truely did not invent anything, well they did, a great brand. Many people sure knows this!
FamilyRe: Parents With Young Children And Phones by matrixme(m): 10:47pm On Sep 01, 2012
It has been jokingly said that life was much easier when Apple and Blackberry were just fruits. I guess 21st century has its downsides also, which we just have to get used to. Meanwhile what is the fuss about the market price of garri on Nairaland when people are having intellectual discussions? Some other humans like us (in the sense of one head with no horns) are out there probing the far-off universe and the deep seas for the next big thing, here we are, consoling ourselves about the price of an endangered 'meal'. Is garri Nigerian internet users the perfect idea of mr splashy pants? (you might want to goggle that). I guess we can't beat a poor man out of his poverty anyway... (So sorry if it hits you hard!) SMH
PoliticsRe: Abuja Wasn't Designed For The Common-Man - Bala-Mohammed by matrixme(m): 5:52pm On Aug 28, 2012
I personally believe that it is no longer a 21st century thinking to have a capital city designed to accomodate a mere 1 million people. Even it has been predicted that more Africans are going to be living in cities in not too distant future. There seem to be very little opportunity left elsewhere these days anyway... And besides, why don't Abuja have high rise residential buildings (I mean real skyscrapers) like its counterpart cities elsewhere in Africa? I think most of its landmass is composed of fancy and elaborately designed duplexes when it could actually sit 102 storey buildings. We'd better stretched our imaginations wider by doing more with less if we're really serious in competing with globalness as a nation!
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Has Dangote Start Calling Graduate Trainee Drivers? by matrixme(m): 4:41pm On Aug 18, 2012
Must we all reply to forum topics just because we have access to the internet? It's really disappointing that a good number of Nigerians are die-hard cynics. Here are people showing their reactions on the hope of a noble job, those that are in no position to provide one are actually complaining. If they drove Dangote trucks across Nigeria today, and they become the millionaires of tomorrow, we will all be grinning happily about their justified wealth. Since they are not signing a Boko Haram form or (Armed Robberry training Institute), why don't we all respect their actions and wish them our very best?
Christianity EtcRe: My Friends Want Me To Become Catholic. Your Thoughts. by matrixme(m): 3:17pm On Aug 14, 2012
There is this interesting thing about Christianity that make its denominations pocess a form of peculiarity. As a pentecostal member, one thing I discover about the Catholics is the fact that they are about the most humane people on the planet. You don't just consider the humanity of The Divinity, and not expect something to rubb off on you. They always differ from the Pentecostals that are so keen on God and the spiritual, yet forget to love, live with and care for their human neighbours. Salvation belongs to God anyway, so He's the only one that tells who and who does not qualify for it, -not man. People may say Catholics pray to Mary and the saints, but they aren't of the Devil anyway, and they call the name of Jesus in their prayers. I'll advice you have a very strong conviction within you for the basis of your change anyway... Way beyond the fascination for the devotional and a good character.

EducationRe: Is University Education Overrated? by matrixme(m): 11:17am On Aug 04, 2012
I think University education may truly be slightly over-rated tham the results it actually garner in real life. Yet, you must have been university educated to some extent to come to the point of knowing! ESPECIALLY if you have the priviledge. You may drop out when you reach that point. Ask the Facebook guy, Bill gates and many others.
PoliticsRe: Award For Taxi-driver Who Returned N18M by matrixme(m): 9:04am On Jul 26, 2012
Some of us seriously need to take our minds down to the laundry for intensive care services. I wonder how we are still alive...:-)
PoliticsRe: "Emperor Tinubu": Akeredolu Says Mimiko Is An Ingrate & Disrespectful by matrixme(m): 5:41pm On Jul 25, 2012
LOL. Maybe he just finished reading ''The Emperor's new dress'' and he's talking proverbially. Ondo State political scenerio shall be more exciting to watch than Nollywood in just few months to come. It is already happening anyway...
ComputersRe: Inye: Made In Nigeria Tablet PC- How Far Can it Go? by matrixme(m): 9:22pm On Jul 23, 2012
We'd really love to buy the capsule. (my bad, I meant tablet!) A little advise though, he should be not make it a product we can only afford to praise from afar. Like the article above described it's dollar equivalent. Who wants to start calculating? Maybe he should also liase with the local networks in its sales and distribution. Those walk-in centres across the federation, always selling chinese brands and Blackberry, can't they for once be patriotic? Well, the bad guys always gets the good stuffs.
PoliticsRe: Magistrate Orders Lawyer To Frog-jump For Noise-making by matrixme(m): 1:32pm On Jul 20, 2012
Please let's try to cover this terribly embarassing scenerio from international media. How much lower in foolishness can we endure as a country? At least the averagely educated layman knows that court is a gathering of well-groomed intellectuals; not a place to apply 'primary school-like' jungle justice on a grown-up individual. He could have at least fined him, like they do in civilised settings...

Christianity EtcRe: Catholic Church Blasts Lagos Lawmakers Over Cremation Bill by matrixme(m): 1:00pm On Jul 07, 2012
It's a good standpoint from the Catholic Church. It's good to still read of some good in today's Nigeria. Would you or those selfish politicians want your body to be cremated while you're gone? It's obvious it's not all of us that do unto others, what we like to be done to ourselves... Like as if they don't have more humane ways they manage unclaimed corpses in more populated cities around the world too...
ComputersRe: Apple To Launch 'iPad Mini' by matrixme(m): 5:56pm On Jul 05, 2012
When Steve Jobs was alive, he often gets disgusted at the crap being peddled as consumer electronic products, according to an interview on TIME. He believes Apple products should be perfect devices for the people who use them. How he will turn furiously in his grave at this approach by his torchbearers to backstab his ideals... albeit to get the share of the tablet market!
CrimeRe: 12 Yr Katsina Pupil Steals To Remain In School by matrixme(m): 4:22pm On Jul 05, 2012
We are being sold a lie. If only we could open the prision doors and we could grant interview to every inmate, then we would see if there are not more touching scenerios. While I'm sympathetic about the story too, I feel the justice system has not done too well on this decision. They are justifying what appears to be a righteous theft. A truely balanced legal system should be just at punishing offenders, and fair at administering justice.
