Its difficult being an apologist. He prob just had a bad day... Hehehe
Apologist like William Criag made me leave christianity completely. . .One of my friend's introduced me to him back in the days. . .I believe he is anony's mentor. Their dishonest ways made me realize that religion was just man made and all the god's that men worship are their own creation. . .

plaetton: Yes. Atheism strikes them right where it hurts the most. It invalidates their very fundamental thought process, and hence, their existence.
It is no wonder that they seem to stand with one voice against atheism.
Very true. . .Its not just christians that never agree with each other but religious people as whole. . .Christopher Hitchens often brings up this issue when noticing that religious people (or groups) will stick up for each other-even when their religions are totally contradictory to one another or even when they disagree all the time when they are against the atheist. It's like some weird game that's being played and a player can understand and sympathize with another player, even if they have very different approaches to the game.

plaetton: You took this right out of my mind.

I have confirmed from NL religilous section that religion is whatever the believer chooses to make of it.
When I see Frosbel, Lord Obadiah77, Anony,Ijaw kid, Enigma, etc, all laying out, and fighting for their own version of christianity, It reinforces my own conviction that religion is like an open source computer program that allows anyone to customize the end software, according to their peculiar worldview, needs, circumstances and upbringing.
It is called self projecting yourself as god(SPAG). . .It is the phenomenon through which believers, when trying to ascribe a personality and wishes to their chosen god, tend to arrive at something that is oddly similar to what they themselves think and feel. The bible contains a lot of paradoxical statements, conflicting accounts that cannot be unraveled and many contradictions. It also has commands that some christian do not wish to obey and descriptions of god that the some christian do not want to worship so the christian will now have to formulate a way to accpet the bible without rejecting it completely because of the very strong indoctrination that was imposed on him/her. . . .What each Christian is telling you in her or his own way, is that he or she is god because christians can’t reject the bible entirely.

Here is how it goes. . . .

OLADEGBUU believes god is a judging and harsh god. He searches the scriptures and finds evidence of this god and so evaluates those scriptures that back up his belief as more important doctrinally than those scriptures that do not espouse this view point.

Jesoul believes god is a caring and loving "mothering" type of god. She finds scriptures that support her supposition and considers those scriptures more important than all others in a doctrinal sense. Her view of god is supported by scripture but also by her own view of "who god should be" and "what behavior god should exhibit".

Both OLADEGBUU and Jesoul believe that their view is correct. They believe that god is the way he is because it is the type of god they have "sought out" of the scripture. In actuality they have SPAGed or self-projected as god. They have put their own desires and values onto their deity. They then have found "evidence" of this type of god in whatever holy book they think is accurate.

This is proved by looking at what type of church people choose to attend. No one goes to a church with which they disagree. Everyone goes to the type of church that they most agree with. A church where the pastor and most members SPAG in a similar way to themselves.

This is the only "true" god. The SPAGed one. It (god) exists within the imagination of the god-believer. Thus the many christians who claim others (who don't have a similar doctrine to theirs) are not true christians while other christians (who do believe similarly to them) are in fact, true christians.

Whymee: The only way forward is to start a strong campaign to stop the electronics media, deceiving viewer that this things exist.

NOLLYWOOD, African magic Yoruba, etc.
our reasoning has been adulterated, and this is the only reason why we have large congregations in churches, Asalatu etc.

They set the ball rolling by deceived you in believing you have been jinx,
You will then be confused, seeking for solutions, coupled with the mindset you have since your kids days
You begin to wonder, wonder till you turns to wonderer.

Not until is see documentary on Natgeo wild before I will believe.

See a forest or bush in Nigeria movie signifies demon coming to pursue you
See a river or sea in Nigeria movie signifies mammy water or set of beautify girls living under the ocean
See the cloud in Nigeria movie signifies apportioning of destiny by "GOD" or a dead man sent back to earth,
See a snake, it will transform to human being.
Be financially ok amidst your peer, you have transform their furtunes to yours.

Why, why, why
Help, help, help
Nollywood and all yoruba and igbo movies that promote superstition and juju NEED to be BANNED. These templates are used to propagate these myths and when people see them on TV they believe they are real because of the belief that anything that is on TV is true. . We are so foolish that we do not even know what fiction is when it comes to our movies. . .The movie industry just keep holding people captive wit expired fictituous myths. . .

The problem is these beleives are what is holding us back as a people, we attend the best universities in the world buy we still can't solve our problems. Problems that have simple solutions are attributed to non existent supernatural entities, and supernatural problems as they belief goes require supernatural solutions. . .They can not be solved physically as the belief goes, so people end up running from one prayer house or from one juju house to another in search of solution to very simple problems that simple reasoning and logic will solve. . .

These superstitious beliefs we have in Nigeria and Africa was a whole solely exist due to the fear that is behind the unknown. If something happens to a family member, is it because of the evil spirits, witches and juju or is it because the person might have caught a regular illness that went untreated simply because it was believed that the illness was the cause of a fear based belief . . . .If a person that dies of an unknown disease or illness which is merely a matter of uneducated fear, it will probably be told to generations to come, increasing the fear and the abundance of superstitions of the future people.

One thing I notice with we Nigerians is our love for short cuts . . .We dont wasnt to reason we just love the shortest way out . . .

Some white people also be believe in these things but they investigate and study its veracity . . .The problem with us Nigerians is that we are so closed minded and do not want to test what ever it is that we claim are supernatural. . .Some white people also believe in the supernatural and they agreed to have their claims or supernatural abilities tested on camera. . .Most of their claims failed when tested but at least they were open minded and accepted the invitation of James Randi a man who is willing to give out a million dollars to any body that can fully demonstrate his supernatural abilities. . . .
Let me give you a clearer picture of that verse.

“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish?
Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

Luke 11:9-13

This was Luke reporting the same sermon. The Holy Spirit is the greatest good that God will give His children. Physical circumstances don't matter as long as one has got the Holy Spirit.
Another bible contradiction. .God things and the holy spirit are NOT the same thing. . .The unknow writer of Mathew and the Unknow writer of Luke did NOT have the same thing in mind when they wrote down what ever it is they chose to write down. . .One said holy spirit the other said good things they do not mean the same thing if they both wanted to write holy spirit they would have written holy spirit. .

That is why someone like Paul can say:

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or unclothedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written:
“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Romans 8:35-37
Your god loves you but then allows you to be killed and maimed?. . .The same bible talks about god protecting his own and guiding them,no?. . .You just can't get away with this very contradictory book of mythology. . .

Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

2Cor 4:16-18
I do not have time for basless mythology that have nothing to do with reality. . .The only point I was making right from the beggining is that despite all these claims of heaven and bla bla bla and how you all want to go there. . If christians are in danger or come face to face with death ALL they do is cry and beg for mercy to live. .They NEVER pary for a painless of fast death, all the do ALL the time is pray for more life. . .The nonsense you put ut there will make sense only if christians pray for fast death when ever they come in contact with death, they trhey ALWAYS do other wise shows that the reality as we know it has nothing to do with the mytholgy they profess to believe. .

So my friend suffering from sickness or disease is just a minor thing. We already have the greatest good which is Christ. If we die, we die. If we suffer, we suffer. The point is that we have got within us that which is eternal and greater than any physical circumstance. That is what is the will of God that all should come to repentance and not perish eternally (2Peter3:9). That is the greatest gift anyone can receive. All else is secondary.
Then why do christians never pray for death to come quickly and take them so that they will go and be with christ which is the greatest good?. . .Its easy to keep repeating long held mythical beliefs, no?. . .When reality comes to shove that's when we know the real thing. . .

That is the same reason why God sent His only begotten Son so that none of us will perish but so that we can have eternal life (John 3:16). God is not a genie whose job is to make your stay on earth pleasurable. He is our Eternal Father who loved us so much that He gave us the most important gift anyone could give us.
He gave us eternal life. Our soul is what is most important. It is of no profit to gain the world at the expense of that which is most precious (Mark 8:36)
Just like the same reason reason allah revealed his final revelations to mohammed. What am I to do with your mythical held beliefs?. . .Am talking about the reality I see happening around and you keep repeating your long held mythical beliefs to me as if they mean anything or have anything to do with reality. . .Soul?. . Clear cut irrefutable evidence that the soul exist is what?. . .

So my friend, suffering from a "terminal illness" like cancer is nothing compared to the glory that God has prepared for me. If I ask Him to heal me and He chooses to heal me, all glory to Him. If He wills that I die and step into glory with Him, then His name be praised even more. Nothing will separate us from His love not sickness nor suffering nor torture nor death. Absolutely Nothing!
Its not even about death. . .You claimed your god loves humans and gave example with the human society, you are always found of using humans to explain your god, but when we use the same humans to show that your god is nothing but a convoluted idea you will claim that your god is kind of beyond our understanding and his ways are different from the human ways after trying to use the human ways to explain away the mythical god idea. . .

I am glad that God has granted me to have this treasure and I will glorify Him eternally for it.
I hope you die tomorrow so that you will go and be with with your sweet Jesus. . .Say amen to that. . .
Here is the same verse when not lifted out of context.

For thus says the Lord: After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.

Jeremaih 29:10-14

Again, why are you being dishonest?
Dishonest? huh. . .Does your god's plan for you not include plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future?. . .Are you throwing the bible under the bus?. . .What context are you talking about and how those the passage apply to you as an individual? What is your own understanding of the passage since you claim the bible is the word of your god?. . .
How does any of these contradict the verses I gave you?

I gave you verse basically saying that God will answer according to His will. None of the verses you have provided insinuate that God will do anything against His will. Why are you being dishonest?
And what is his will?. . .His will was clearly stated in one of the verses. . .What exactly are you on about?. . .Is god's will for those you claim he loves a bad one?. . .

Again this verse talks about the so called will you keep repeating endlessly. . .

Matthew 7:7 Jesus says:

Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

Do you believe that if you ask god for good things like protection from harm he will answer?. . .Or does your god's plan for you as a loving parent include terminal illness that has no cure?. . .

Christianity Etc › Re: If Your Religion Is True, Why Do You Then Feel Guilty? by mazaje(m): 8:48am On Dec 17, 2012
Scroll up a few posts and you will come across the verses you have conveniently decided to ignore.

You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. John 14:13

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 1 John 5:14

You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. James 4:3

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow.
For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” James 4:13-16

Why are you being so dishonest?
The person that is being dishonest is you. . .The verses I quoted are also from the bible, no?. . .They are the words of Jesus himself and they are very clear. . .NON of the verses you quoted that talks about god's will are from Jesus himself. . .They are from his followers. . .When Jesus spoke he was very clear if you believe and you ask he will ALWAYS answer. . .From Jesus according to the bible. .

This verse is very clear, it speaks about your god's will and what he will do when people ask of him since these are the words of Jesus himself. . .It says if a son ask for bread will his dad give him a stone?. . .If he ask for fish will he give him a serpent?. . .It says if people who are evil give good things to their children what more about the father who is in heaven that will give good things to those who ask of him. . .Do YOU truly believe in this verse? If yes then why are you arguing and talking aimlessly about some elusive god's will when it is very CLEARLY stated in this verse?. . .

Is your god's will good or bad for his children seems you claim to speak for your god?. . .What stops your god from healing his children who he loves from cancer?. . .What stops him from healing his children that are paralysed? What is asking amiss when you ask for healing from terminal diseases that is causing you pain and making you suffer?. . .

Mark 11:24:
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Do you really believe in the bible? If you do then why are you arguing against what it says?. . .

plaetton: Oh, that one is quite easy. He promised to answer prayers. So far, he has been a no-show in Nigeria.

Just two days ago in USA, he failed to save the lives of 20 innocent children from a suicidal young America terrorist.
Jesus promises many times that he will answer the prayers of his children who he loves. For example, in Matthew 7:7 Jesus says:

Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

Mark 11:24:
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Matthew 18:19
Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them

From these verses we have seen some of anony's god's will. . .ask believe and it will be yours. . .lets wait for anony to come and tell us that the bible does not really mean what it says. . .
My friend, you have shown you verses of scripture that clearly point out that for a prayer to be valid, it must be according to God's will. Being unnecessarily irrational doesn't help your case.
The person that is actually unnecessarily irrational is you, you came up with all the crazy ideas you think you can to explain your mythical god absurdity away, now that you have been trapped you are trying to change the subject. . .The main issue of discussion is, you claim your god has a will and is in a loving relationship with christains, but the same will you keep talking about is outlined in the bible. . .If we are to go by what you are saying then as i have aforementioned it is your god's will that some of the christians he is in love with suffer terminal diseases for years, suffer stroke for many years, lose their sight, etc without helping them even though he can help them. . .What kind of loving relationship is that? tpia1: what's impossible about it?

before the flood, the average life span was >800 years.

after the flood, it decreased steadily from 400+ years to around 200, and then lowered from there.

abram's father had him at 70, and lived to be 205. Abraham himself only lived till around 100 or so.

check gen 11 and try to do your homework properly before starting these wild threads next time.
Pls stop regurgitating old mythology that are stated in ancient story books. . . .These stories have nothing to do with reality. . .

tpia1: You jumped over the 8 people in the thread title, in order to quickly hyperventilate over my own post?

If you dont have a problem with one, then you shouldnt have with the other.
Because your statement was border line idiotic . . .

Mee234: No bros, bones can only give estimate and not certainty. It only produce academic guess which is not reality
Hope you know that it is based on such acedemic "guesses"(By the way they are very intelligent guesses that have proven to be factual) that scientist were able to calculate the distance of the earth from the the moon and reach up to it. . Find cure to diseases and do many many incredible things . . .Myth has it that men used to live up to 800 years in pages of story books . . .After all super man also flies around in the pages of comic books as well. . .

tpia1: Average lifespan was about 800+ years initially.

What's your point?
In your mythical story books, right?. . .Hope you know that bones of people that lived 6000 years can be used to measure how long they lived and the diseases that killed them?. . .No human in reality has ever lived for 800 years except in fictional stories that have nothing to do with reality. . .
The main point here is that God proved Himself when He decided to prove Himself and not because inurmind demanded it. God is under no obligation to appease you.
And this is written in which chapter and verse of the bible?. . .
Says who?
Are you disputing the fact that it is every responsible's fathers duty to educate his child if he can afford to?. . .Really?. . .

A father has the right to educate the child in the way he thinks is best for the child. The decision is the father's to make and not the child's
It is the duty of the responsible father to educate his child. Simple

If for God, physical death is not the worst that can happen to you, why should God panic over physical death?
You are making things and running commentary on them as usual. . .The point is, why allow your kids to suffer unnecessarily if you have the ability to help them?. . .A god that loves his children will not allow them suffer terminal diseases for years before taking their lives, no?. .Even humans don't do that that is why humans are fighting to see to it that they find a cure to terminal illness, and ease the suffering of other humans that have terminal illness. . .If your child is down with cancer and you have the ability to cure him you will NOT think of a choice. . .actually non of what you are saying is even biblical anyway. . .

When you look at the phrases I highlighted, Whose will is paramount, man or God? Answer honestly.

This goes to show that you really don't understand the bible. It is right in front of you yet you can't see it.

Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.”
James 4:13-16

I rest my case.
What EXACTLY are you arguing about?. . .You have stared with making things as usual and forcing people to argue on your own turf, you know I never do that so quit trying. . .I was the one that first stated it. . .I said the fact their god was watching when they first got the disease or accident, and that he stood by and allowed it to happen, means that is his will and plans for them , no?. . .You claimed that your god is a person who loves chiristians but has the choice to do what ever he wants, and I stated that if your god is a person that loves his children i.e christians as you claim then there are are times he will not have a choice but help them and I gave you some examples. . .I then went on to say the bible does not talk about choice as you have stated it but commands and their resulting effects, if you obey god he will protect you, if you do what he wants he will bless you and if you pray he will answer you. Your claim that god is not under any obligation to answer prayer is not biblical cos it does not appear in the bible.
Oh no I don't.

I don't need to. My stance is that there is nowhere in the bible that portrays God as under man's control. If you claim there is, then the burden of proof lies on you to show it from scripture not me.
Pls can you see how dishonest you are?. . .You made a statement, and he simply asked you to back it up with scripture knowing fully well that what you have stated has no scriptural backing, you are now trying to force statements into his mouth. . he never made any claim, you are the one that made the claim, re-read his post and show me where he stated anything like you are implying. . .How then is the burden on proof on him. . .You are just trying to hard. . .You are a joke. . .
