We went on our knees to ask God to change the hearts of our leaders-past and present and he did. My own take is this, when a sinful man comes in contact with a man of God one of thems designation is going to change and chances are that it isnt the latter. so Rejoice! I percieve a change of heart from the man. Such has been the testimony of anybody who came in contact with this man of God.

I even heard from the grapevine that during Gov. Uduaghans speech he said that the only questions Pastor asked him before the elections and after was "what are you going to do for your people"? and what are you doing for them" and the Gov. in his own words said the questions touched him. Whether he has started or not is left to time, it is clear that should the relationship continue the Gov. would have some one constantly reminding him of his promises to his people and the need to fulfil them. I wish him the best.

I implore you all to celebrate worthy things and leave the ignorant and idle talks to people who have sworn to fail. The Change we desire in Nigeria has started!

My life began to make a meaning when i came in contact with you and your ministry. I have waxed great and done great exploits already in so short a time. I have seen my academics improve, my finances, family, health, wisdom, grace, peace and most of all my love for people and God since i started listening to the simple and succinct way you diseminate the word of God.

I keep thinking of the words written in most cemetries "we were just like you, one day you too would be like us" because just like those who criticise us I used to be a sceptic myself. I now know better because you taught us to envelope the critics with the umbrella of our love and kindness.

I know you are an apostle for this generation, a pastor to us, a mentor to many. You are indeed a man sent from God and my PASTOR. I love you sir and i will run with the vision we received from GOD which is "to take his divine presence to the ends of the world and demonstrate the character of his spirit" till the Lord comes.

I heard about nairaland in 2007. i didnt join initially, i just visited ,read some posts learnt from some of them and moved on. But daily i kept being drawn to it-the discussions, topics, arguments etc. i felt it was an oppurtunity to reach many, teach many and help many understand the true essence of christianity, of the new birth, of the power available to the body of christ- the power of the true and undiluted gospel of Jesus christ. i read posts from donnie and the likes and i was inspired. but when i saw posts of TayoD, Tudor and recently (actually 3yrs ago) Sirjohn. i wept and grieved in my spirit because i couldnt understand that such ignorance existed in the world today.

Time has gone by and nothing has changed but i have. i know when to discuss, whom to discuss with and how to discuss with whom i want to discuss with. its not about the ignorance they permeate in their posts (as regards sirjohn and one nuclearboy) its more about the spirit behind their posts. They represent billiousness, opprobium, deceit, envy,umbrage and the list continues. They have no respect for persons, for ideas, for authorities, for the word himself! they may come of to you as grammar flowing individuals who desire that the truth be told all the time but when you test the character of their posts you will see that, that character that describes God most is missing- LOVE!

their posts are devoid of love, truth and faith! Dont take them serious. they may say they believe in God and miracles but when have they ever believed? If they have ever stretched forth their hands to heal the sick it would never be difficult to believe another mans testimony. Sirjohn even claimed he once used to "slay people under the anointing" now he says those things are fictitious. It is not an experience that took him away from us, it was God himself that pruned us and removed him. He may have started out as a member of the Body of Christ but he has veered of already. We pray that as Satan planned to sift Peter as Wheat but Jesus' prayer of intercession rescued him so would our prayer of intercession rescue him before its too late. Then when he is saved he can also save many others.

Joagbaje thank you for being a consistent and ever fervent soul winner and teacher. Your work here is commendable. As the scriptures say "God is not unrighteous to forget your labour of love" he would keep rewarding you openly.

In the teachers words she said "when i asked her why she didnt run from the boy when others did (while he was convulsing) she responed (the young girl) "in my church we dont run away from sick people- we heal them"

Did you ever read of John? the one that wrote the book of Revelation, i mean? did you? Bible students say after Emperor Domitian attempted burning him in a pot of oil to no avail, he banished him to the island of Patmos where John eventually wrote the Book of Revelations. It's evident Alexeo didnt have anything auspicious to say. What a pity. Some say they believe God still heals today, some others say they dont- Science and technology to them has reduced the manifestation of God in this era- sssaad, very sympathetic. So why did they aver that claim?, to discredit the master. which brings me to the same hypocrites today many of which apply medical science to understanding the word of God, many of which claim that once upon a time they slayed people by the anointing of the holyghost but now they dont believe those things again, and many of which claim to have been baptised in the holyspirit twenty something or is twenty four years ago yet assert that such gifting isnt for the body of christ but for a select few to whom the ''know it alls belong''- PATHETIC LOT!!

God still heals today through men and women that have died to self and live to God. People that refuse to depend on their degrees,looks, abilities or charisma but instead wholly depend on the infallibility of the word of God, men who through faith and patience have inherited promises not men of self-who cast aspersions, throw tantrums, subscribe to yellow journalism, seek political power and who love to revel in the praise of men- they live for themselves and are full of themselves thus they compare themselves with themselves- they are proud, unwise, grandiloquent and as such God himself elbows them. No power is demonstrated in their preachings and meetings because they have blasphemed God's spirit and continue to do so when they hautingly retort ''juju, false prophets, magic'' attributing to demons the workings of The Almighty God. They may come to you with all scripture in their head, but you see thats were their problem inchoates from for the word of God should be in our hearts not our cerebrum.

We can only teach what we know (or claim to know) but we impart who we are. Thank you Pastor Chris for mirroring to the body of Christ God's divine life and for demonstrating to us the character of God's spirit.

in your somewhat shameless bid to defame again you miss out something vital; salvation is still the biggest miracle every other one is manifested to confirm the existence of God and his willingness to perform what he said he would. The book of Mark 16:20 says, God confirmed what the apostles taught with signs and wonders, Let no man deceive you, it is God that confirms his word and not the devil. Remember who came to steal, kill and destroy. If you would be honest with yourself, ponder on this train of thought- Is satan more powerful than God? There you lie again. I was in a BLW communion service in Port-harcourt a few months back and i witnessed the healing of an old woman that had been suffering arthrithic pains in her legs for many years now. To the viewings of many that attended the service she was jumping and leaping and praising God, interestingly that was her first time in any CE or BLW church and the pastor that laid hands on her was not also Pastor chris. you needed to see her sons shed tears of joy, they couldnt explain how a woman probably in her early seventies could jump with such enthusiasm and gusto- bro its the work of God and its not privy to only Pastor Chris and Prophet TB Joshua. In my own christian walk i have also wrought a few miracles by the power of God working in me-its my right in christ.

The Kingdom of God is not about dissecting scriptures its about Power- 1 Cor 4:21. Its not also about causing divisions, a prescibed order of dealings should be followed. Bless you!

Gods spirit has already been poured out on all flesh, what is required of christians is to open up and drink

7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and
cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

7:38 He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his
belly shall flow[b] rivers[/b] of living water.

7:39 (But this spoke he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him
should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because Jesus
was not yet glorified.)


some also said “i still believe the ultimate sign of the holyspirits indwelling in a person is the fuit of the spirit”

that falls short,on many reasons. Firstly, the word spirit in Gal 5 wasnt refering to the Holy spirit. Say what? I’d say it again, the word spirit wasnt refering to the holyspirit in Gal 5- it was refering to the recreated or rebirthed human spirit; the new spirit put in a person when salvation occurs-the fruit that should be in the life of every christian as a result of being born again and experiencing the rebirth of the human spirit. This may rattle your theology but its the truth. Many have thought it was refering to the holyspirit because of the CAPITAL “S” that was used by the translators but Gods word never tells us that the holysprit bears fruit. Hear jesus-

15:5 I am the vine, you are the branches: He that abides in me, and I
in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me you can do
nothing.

Trivia Question, where do the fruits grow?-obviously its the branches. In otherwords, we’re the ones to bear the fruit, not the Holyspirit in us.
Secondly, jesus said, “by their FRUITS ye shall know them” notice the word fruit is pluralised. Now refering to Gal 5 Paul said,” FRUIT” of the spirit and not “FRUITS” of the spirit meaning the “fruit of the spirit in Gal 5 is just one of the “FRUITS”.

Some also argue, “but many people who speak with tongues dont have the fruit of the sprit in their lives as they ought to have.”

Lets look at the fruit mentioned in Gal 5, the first being love. Those who have received the baptism in the holy spirit dont neccessarily have any more love than other christians do for the simple reason that Jesus said, “by

John said, “we know we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren” (1john3:14). So love is fruit of the born-again human spirit; not fruit of the baptism in the holy spirit!

Another fruit listed in Gal 5 is peace. I didnt have any more peace after i received the baptism in the holy spirit than i had before

5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through
our Lord Jesus Christ:


so you see the re-birth already gives us peace.


Baby christians havent produced and grown fruit yet. Afterall, we dont expect a baby tree to produce fruit. It takes time for fruit to grow. Yet that baby christian can be filled with the holy spirit and have power in his life. The corinthians were babes. Paul said,


3:1 And I, brothers, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but
as unto carnal, just as unto babes in Christ.

Yet he said, “ye come behind in no gift” (1Cor 1:7) how?,


14:26 How is it then, brothers? when you come together, every one of
you has a psalm, has a doctrine, has a tongue, has a revelation, has
an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.


The holy spirits indwelling!


What about some that say we must understand what we’re saying, it must be a known language bla bla-balderash!

Hear the Holy spirit through the apostle paul,

14:2 For he that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not unto men, but
unto God: for no man understands him; howbeit in the spirit he speaks
mysteries.

14:14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my
understanding is unfruitful.



So why did the multitude marvel and say they understood them? Simple, two mighty miracles happened on that day. Lets see

2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with
one accord in one place.

2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty
wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues just as of fire, and
it sat upon each of them.

2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak
with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

2:5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of
every nation under heaven.

2:6 Now when this was reported abroad, the multitude came together,
and were confounded, because every man heard them speak in his own
language.

2:7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another,
Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?

2:8 And h[b]ow hear we every man in our own tongue[/b], in which we were
born?

2:9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in
Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

2:10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about
Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,

2:11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the
wonderful works of God.

2:12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to
another, What means this?


so you see, on the day of pentecost,(Jewish celebration) many of the first christians were in a room together probably praying when the promised Holy spirit came down for the first time never to go back. and on that day two amazing things happened. First, they were visible cloven tongues on them as of fire and secondly, the multitude heard each man speak in his own language. Notice it didnt say that each man spoke in his own language(i mean in a language known to the multitude) but that the multitude heard each man speak his own language. Did i lose you? Ask yourself one question, why did some others think the men where drunk? Could it be that they heard them speak a language strange to them.

Like the tongues of fire and the spectacular way that everyman heard every man speak his ownlanguage Gods spirit didnt manisfest himself like that again in the scripture every other occasion recorded indicates so.

It is also important to add here that it never ended(the baptism of the Holy spirit) for the account when paul met some men at ephesus occured twenty years after the “day of pentecost”.

Its also a far cry to say tongues is only a” sign to unbelievers”. Lets examine the book of Corinthians

14:22 Therefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but
to them that believe not: but prophesying serves not for them that
believe not, but for those who believe.

Notice there was no dramatic inclusion of the word “only” a sign. Why?

14:5 I would that you all spoke with tongues but rather that you
prophesied: for greater is he that prophesies than he that speaks with
tongues, unless he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

Wonderful, he wished that all spoke in tongues(if it werent necessary why would he) but said prophesying was better UNLESS they interpret. In other words prophesying is like a twenty naira note while speaking in tongues is a ten naira note. Definitely the twenty is greater unless another ten naira note called “interpretation” is added to the “speaking” then its equivalent to the prophesying.

Therefore, “tongues” is also a sign for believers but is effective(only) when “interpretation” is added to it. And as well “prophesying” works too for unbelievers. Hear God again through Paul-

14:24 But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believes not, or
one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:

14:25 And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so
falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is
in you of a truth.

Some say they have received the baptism of the holy spirit(twenty something years ago) but that they dont believe that it is for everybody. What benefits have you accrued since you where baptised? If many, why do you think others shouldnt benefit from it(them, as the case maybe)or is it just the religious language you lot peddle in your circle “kuri mama suri mama”.

IS IT NECESSARY TO SPEAK IN TONGUES?

CAVEAT EMPTOR: MANY HAVE BEEN ROBBED OF THE BLESSING GOD HAS FOR THEM BY BELIEVING THAT SPEAKING IN TONGUES ISNT FOR EVERYBODY, OR THAT IT IS ONE OF THE LESSER GIFTS.

There is more to being filled with the holyspirit than speaking in tongues, but tongues are an integral and important part of receiving the holyspirit. Paul said, “i thank my God, i speak with tongues, ”(1Cor.14:18).
So the question is, “is it necessary for all to speak in tongues?”

EMPHATICALLY YES!, why?

I know some profess to believe in tongues, but do not believe that tongues are necessary for all christians. They use the argument from first Corinthians 12:30 “, do all speak with tongues?” however, one could take part of a verse or even an entire verse of scripture out of its setting and prove anything. We must read the entire passage to understand what it really means.
12:27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

12:28 And God has set some[seperated some for a particular function] in the church, first apostles, secondarily
prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of
healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

12:29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all
workers of miracles?

12:30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all
interpret?



In verse twenty- eight Paul is talking about the ministry gifts that God has set in the church. “Apostles” is not a spiritual gift, but an office, or a ministry gift. “prophets” is not a spiritual gift, but a ministry gift to minister to the body of christ.
In the first part of this chapter, Paul does list spiritual gifts.
12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another
the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of
healing by the same Spirit;

12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to
another discerning of spirits; to another different kinds of tongues;
to another the interpretation of tongues:


It is certainly true that the gifts of the spirit maybe manifested through laymen, because Paul said, “, the manifestation of the spirit is given to EVERY MAN to profit withal” (1Cor. 12:7)

There are also those in the ministry who are equipped with the gifts of the spirit. We do not call these people “spiritual gifts”. As Paul says here God has set ministries- five ministry gifts-in the church.

In writing to the church at Ephesus, paul lists these gifts. He said that when jesus ascended on high he gave some, apostles; and some prophets; and some evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers” (Eph. 4:11).

When paul wrote to the corinthians about these ministry gifts, we notice that neither the ministry of an evangelist nor a pastor is listed (1Cor. 12:28). Since the pastor is head of the church, his ministry gift is included in the office of governments. The working of miracles and gifts of healings are included in the office of an evangelist.

Philip is a type of new testament evangelist. We read of him: “
8:5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ
unto them.

8:6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which
Philip spoke, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

8:7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that
were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were
lame, were healed.


Later philip was called an evangelist.

If a person is a new testament evangelist he is equipped with such supernatural gifts as working of miracles or gift of healings. It takes these gifts to constitute his office. Many times we call people evangelists when they are really exhorters. (paul speaks of exhorters in the book of romans.) those who just exhort sinners to get saved- but have no working of gifts of healings or miracles or the supernatural in their lives-are not evangelists but exhorters.

As we have pointed out, paul is speaking about a ministry gift of diversities of tongues(incorporated in the prophetic office) in first corithians 12:29,30. He isnt talking about being filled with the holy spirit and speaking with tongues. He asks, are all apostles? [no.]are all prophets? [No.] are all teachers? [No] are all workers of miracles?[No] have all gifts of healings?[no.]

Then he asks, “do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? According to what he is talking about here, the answer is no. He is not talking about people being filled with the holy spirit and speaking with tongues. He is talking about ministering tongues in a public assembly with interpretation. Everybody doesnt do that! Everybody wasnt called into the ministry gifts/offices, God himself calls people. However, every christian needs to be filled with Gods spirit and the evidence of the infilling (scripturally) is speaking in tongues. What can a christians life be without speaking in tongues-such a christian will be powerless, carnal etc to say the least. How can such a christian effectively worship God? How can such a person charge the persons spirit? Why is this issue being argued in the first place? Soon they would argue that heaven is not neccessary for every christian. If you think its not possible then explain to me how that some people go about masqurading as christians and saying theres no hell, everybody will go to heaven, there are different levels of heaven-crap!

You may not agree with me now, but surely many other guests on this forum will because its the word of God. I thought like most of you before until Gods spirit began to show me from his word that i needed to be filled with the holyspirit and that when i got filled i would speak in tongues!
