Aghatise: Thanks for taking out time to respond to me and others on this forum - highly appreciate. Your explanation is noted. Just a quick one, with my given situation and knowing she would be there for 4yrs and likely work .... will it not be advisable to apply for an SOWP at this time for my wife - can't an SOWP be approved under my given circumstance (just for clarity bro)? Once again, thank you sooooooooooo much! SOWP can only be applied for when the main applicant's trv has been approved, so its either you apply alone first then once you get approved you can now apply for your family or you apply for visiting for your family and on getting to Canada it will be converted. NB: Hope you have your marriage certificate? cos it will come handy |

platypelloid: Hello house , PLEASE THIS IS WHAT I GOT FROM ONE OF THE UNIVERSITIES THAT I APPLIED TO. PLEASE WHAT CAN I DO NOW . HOUSE KINDLY ADVISE ME?? SHOULD I GO REWRITE THE ENGLISH TESTS?? MY SCORE WAS S L W R : 8 7 7 5,AND THE SCHOOL SAYS NO COMPONENTS SHOULD BE BELOW 6.
The email below was sent to me by The school?? DOES THIS SYNONYMOUSLY MEAN THAT IF I CAN GET THE ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS,I HAVE AUTOMATICALLY GOTTEN THE ADMISSION ? HOUSE PLS HELP.
Dear O
Thank you for your interest in the PhD program. Your Fall 2018 application has been reviewed and is considered ineligible at this time because you did not meet one or more of our admission requirements.
International students must meet University minimums on English Proficiency to be considered for admission. If your score is below the minimum, we encourage you to retake the test. Once you meet the University minimum we will reconsider your application for admission. Please email us if you have uploaded a new score.
Please check the requirements for admission here.
If at any time you would no longer like to be considered for admission, please email us to withdraw your application.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
Best Regards, The test of English is just of the requirements, so even if you have the required score and you do not meet up with other requirements you won't be giving the offer. I will advise you retake the exam, also try and check other schools to see if their test for English score is lower so you can use your present score to apply there. NB: Please work more on your statement of purpose as that's a way to sell your idea to your supervisor and the school. Best of luck |

chuksdewigs: Hello everyone.. I'm just about applying for my study permit.. I always hear people talk about dorm account... My question is.. Would they refuse a normal account statement that isnt dorm account? NO, any currency will do as long as you have enough to cover your tuition and living expenses. NB: Make sure you do the conversion of any currency you are using to dollar when analyzing your funds on your sop |

veravanna: Hi Guys, I have been a silent reader and I wanted to commend you all on the community-style help being offered here. This is the real Nigeria, people helping each other. I wanted to share my profile. I applied on 19th of March, Paper route, upfront medicals. Diploma in Nait (Chemical Tech) after getting a BSc in Biology in 2011. I have been working as a technologist for the past 7 years in different countries. I just got invited for medicals today but i already submitted upfront medicals. Please guys, how do I go about it? I think I have one of the simplest profiles here. 2M bank statement, employment letters, 2 pages SOP, all forms filled, father's bank statement, police certificate, birth certificate of family and former degree certificate and a lot of faith in God! Thats it. I have been secretly praying for you all, next week will have a lot of good news. mark it! Send the medical receipt you got from the clinic to cic and tell them you have done medical already. I know the clinic have sent the result to cic |

Prudento: Fees alone is $10100. Wouldn't they say I don't have sufficient funds? You will have to source for the balance of your living expenses, that should be around $5000. |

Abu46: Good morning Guru's, a friend advised me to join this forum, read and understand relevant issues as regards to getting a study permit, i must commend folks in this forum, mehnnnnn intelligent comments, educative and inspiring.....Thank you Guru's I just got a an Offer letter from Dalhousie University, Halifax Nova Scotia, for an MA in Economics. I am clueless when it comes to study permit issues...I however have decided to read through comments, ask questions before making my application. Guru's , My questions are 1. What kind of application would you rather have me submit(paper or online)? 2. My Uncle(my mum's cousin) is my financial sponsor, he has given me a financial sponsorship letter and a weighty bank statement, do i still need him to write on why he has decided to fund me? 3. I stay in Abuja, where do i submit my paper application if their is a need for such? 4. My offer came with a support fund, which includes a Taught Assistant Job role and a $4000 scholarship support, will this be of any advantage? 5. I have a travel history to the UK, Although i changed my middle name on my passport early last year, because i wanted the name on my international passport to be the same name on my educational documents ,i have done a court affidavit, newspaper publication etc.Any issues as regards to this? 6. Do i need to pay for medicals separately from the visa cost?
Guru's please i need clearifications as to the above questions Thank you. 1. Both(online and paper are good) but if you have more documents to submit I will advise you use paper route as there is no limit to the amount of document to submit(unlike online whose maximum is around 4mb/segment). Another advantage of the paper route is you get to do your biometric same day unlike online when you will have to wait for invitation from cic to go for it at VFS. Also online is expensive due to exchange rate(though it is stress free as you can do everything in the comfort of your home as long as you have a scanner and internet). 2. Your uncle sponsoring you isn't a problem but as a third party(not your parents or sibling) the he will have to show commitment by paying the said amount he wants to spend on you into your account or better still pay for your tuition fee. Just his statement of account and letter of support wont be enough. Yes you need a letter from him(letter of support fully stating how much he is giving you and his reasons) 3. VFS office( I think it is located at Silverberg galleria ). 4. Yes the funding is an advantage as it helps saves cost. How much is your total tuition? subtract the $4000 from your tuition fee and living expenses( at least $10,000) to know the balance you have to source for from your sponsor 5. No issue to that as long as you submit copies of the affidavit and newspaper publication with your application 6. Medical is done by cic approved clinics/hospital and the fee is not included in your application fee. You should check cic site to know the clinics around your location(Abuja) then contact them to know the cost. You can do a medical before you submit your application then submit the medical form with your application and the clinic will send the result directly to cic or better still you apply without doing any medical then wait for cic to send you medical mail before going for it(it saves cost). |

olami101: Hello good people in the House, I have been give admission to attend a course in Canada for just two weeks, the school in Canada is paying 70% of the fees while I pay the remaining 30%, I have been sent all the documents that I will need to obtain my visa, but my question is ....will they ask for the receipt of course fees since I have not paid the remaining 30% ? Secondly what are the documents needed to procure the students Visa,I learnt the form must have a bar code,I don't want to download the wrong form for possible denial, then what other things must I do,thanks. You programme is less than 6 months, so you do not need a study permit but VISITING VISA. Visit cic site to know the requirement. And as for the remaining 30% of your fee, its not compulsory you pay it(especially if the school isn't asking for it before you apply for the visiting visa) but make sure you have it and other funds(for your upkeep, flights....) in your bank account. |

Hi house, its been a while. I will like to comment on the issue of using a company's soa, the company will have to show commitment by transferring the full funding to the applicant's care/account. Also a letter stating their reasons will go a long way. Above other documents the applicant will submit, a letter from the company approving he/she has been given study leave for the duration of the program will go a long way. |

1. Is it the fact that I am self sponsoring myself, or
2. The fact that I will leave canada at the end of my 1 year program.
Thank you so much for your help. The second one is most important |

jibb3rilz: Thank you so much @mcobex.
The program is for a year and current program fee is CAD 21,000 without accommodation. The first term for current session is CAD 11,000. Since it is for 1 year, I will advise you use yourself as the sole sponsor(if you have the funds). Though you will have to work on your sop very well and try to convince the vo(especially since it's for a year program ). Best of luck |

jibb3rilz: Thank you for your response.
I am thinking of giving them part of my tuition (1st term) and then they will transfer it to my account. something to show that they paid the money into my account. I just want an entity with good account balance.
Will this be enough? What is the duration of your intended program? if more than 1 year, how will you pay for the other year(s)? Cos I will advise you have access to funding for the entirety of your program. Your answers to the above questions will determine what's next.. |

Thank you to all the ogas in the house and everybody that contributes and helps newbies like me. Hopefully one day, i will give back to this community and thread.
To my question,
I will start my TRV by april but my major challenge is sponsor. Luckily, my pastor accepted that the church will write sponsorship letter and also give me statment of account but i will be the one to pay the tuition fees. Please what documents can the church give me for sponsorship.
I appreciate all input.
Thank you. If all the church will do is write letter and give you their statement of account(without them paying your tuition fee or paying the money into your account) then IT'S A WASTE OF TIME AND RESOURCES ON YOUR PART! |

He still working as a banker till date,4.5m annually. He has paid for the one year course. It is only one year course. He still have 9-10m TB. 2 little children still in nursery class. He has all the employment letters since 2009 till date.
Expecting your response Then you shouldn't have any problem. Just let him submit his employment letter, ID, payslip, and should also state in his letter of support the number of his dependants (their classes) and soa (plus the TB) |

Biakwa: He has been a banker since 2009,so savings over the years. He will need to show something that he does at the moment to rake in cash so he can take care of himself, his dependants (if he has any) and also be able to pay the tuition and living expenses of the second year (that's of its not a 1 year programme). The balance in his account doesn't have to be much if he has ways of making enough cash and he can prove it (job, business/investment. .....) |

Biakwa: Good day Frank,
please I need some insight,
After paying the full tuition fees and making available up to N3.4m in the student personal naira account to take care of the accomodation/feeding/flight ticket as read in the rejection file.
My question is does the balance in the sponsor account still matter as the balance is reading like 100k.But note that the sponsor still has up to 10m worth treasury bill. What is risk in leaving the account like that or should the sponsor still terminate part of the treasury bill and like how much can the sponsor leave in his own account?
Awaiting your response.
Thank you. What is the sponsor's source of income? It's important you show that. |
