TravelRe: 800k A Month: Should I Travel To Canada? by megastu(m): 10:43pm On May 28, 2020
Thanks.

Personality would be the Aura around you, i really don't know how to explain it.

Most CEOS of good companies in Nigeria earn between N150m- N400m per annum excluding bonuses. To rise to the level of a CEO requires much more than talent or experience.

More money doesn't really have to bring restlessness. When i moved from earning less than 200k a month to around N600k a month I behaved like I was still earning 200k a month; I didn't move to a duplex or rented a house of N3m per annum, the bigger the house, the more the maintenance cost, domestic staff, etc. However, you start to feel the pressure when kids start coming and they need to attend good schools.

Livelyguy:
What is the secret to earning more? I noticed you mentioned personality, what does it have to do with earning more?

Also, i noticed money brings restlessness. How do you stay calm with more money?
TravelRe: 800k A Month: Should I Travel To Canada? by megastu(m):
I have a friend and colleague who earned N22million as at 2016. He moved to a Fintech company and earns N55m per annum excluding car and all. He gave birth to his 4 kids in Canada.

Decide what you want for yourself. Either is okay, whether you move or stay.
bezimo:
If you truly earn that..dont come to Canada it's not worth it.Stay in 9ja

Universiteit Van Amsterdam. I left after my studies. We didn't use to think twice about coming back to Nigeria then. Even my friends in the U.K, we all came back. We wanted to use our degrees to get high paying jobs.

I did my LL.M in the Netherlands and I agree with most of the submissions. Nice place to stay, but you must learn dutch to thrive in the work place.

Thanks my brother,

I have lived in Europe and stayed extensively across America and I really can't understand what he meant by avoiding Nigerians.

jesmond3945:
I have more international friends than you can think of but I relate with everybody on mutual terms and not one sided. White europeans have this air of superiority they carry around but can be nice if you come close to them but will always tolerate you but not celebrate you.
I think you have to redefine what you know about friendship. Europeans are nice but are not friendly this unlike Americans which are friendly but not nice. This is how we mislead our people and they make friends with the locals and at the end of the day they are set up for bad stuff. The only people I can vouch for is in the workplace or religious places. Anything outside that is 50 50. Dont mislead people, giving them false hope.
Having small talk with people is different from being friends with them. When you exchange numbers with them, they wont even call you unless it is important. This is unlike our people who will call to check up on you.
When I mean crumbling is when shit hits the fan, you will find out that you are all alone. At this point in time nobody needs friends with no emotional connection. You have people all around you but you feel alone. it is better you stick with your family or people of your race who share your sentiment.
I think you misunderstand me. You dont need the locals for anything. Europe is not Africa. If you want a job, apply for one and if you are qualified you will get. If you need direction use the map or you can ask and locals would be happy to help but dont think it is an invitation for friendship. If you need true[ friends join the local church dont allow this guy to deceive you that the locals are waiting for you with open arms.
I think it is safe to say you have low self esteem, always seeking for validation or acceptance. you would never find true happiness in doing so
TravelRe: Living In France / Life As A French Résident by megastu(m): 2:18pm On Apr 08, 2020
This is the reason why Indians make a lot more progress abroad.

Nigerians want to avoid fellow Nigerians, and even when they do mix, they want to compete with each other, not showing others opportunities etc. I wish you could delete this post. Not a good advice at all.
MrBrownJay1:
IMHO...i always say avoid your country people, because it hinders you from going out of your way to meet local people. i believe it is a waste for any citizen of the world, to travel across the globe to go meet people you could meet around the corner from your hometown. also, the minute you start hanging out with your fellow country man, you will automatically do what they've done, go where they've been and ultimately not really discover on your own terms but instead just do what others of your countrymen are doing.

to me traveling is an adventure and you need to get out of your ways, get out of your comfort zone, get out of your local state of mind to DISCOVER new places, new languages, new way of life, new people, new culture, new smell, new taste etc etc etc and you certainly cant do that while hanging around your country people.

after a few months somewhere, when you miss Nigerian food then YES by all means, go find a Nigerian restaurant and binge on some succulent home food, but certainly not as you just arrive in a new place.

... but you are right, you certainly shouldnt befriend just about "any" Nigerian you meet abroad.

I really don't understand why some people would be traveling now. Some people are stranded already. Our airspace is closed already.

justwise:
Schools are closing down, visa cancelled, airport deserted, airlines laying off workers but still some smart Nigerians like yourself think that its ok to travel? What else do you need to hear before it gets into your head?

Exactly.

Not too late though. Summon the courage and one night give him the low down.

The reason i will not stop flying British Airways. Small delay the last time fom Nigeria, we were put in an hotel with better dinner, breakfast and transport to hotel.

On top of that, once i got back to Nigeria, i wrote them a letter on my rights and i was paid 600 euros without any delay. The extra fare is usually worth the trouble.

hayoakins:
I traveled light but my electric extension box was trashed at Cairo airport, I had it in my backpack. I should have just checked it in.

Well, during the long stopover; it made me a superstar as several nationals were able to charge with it before it was trashed prior to boarding. It felt good to have been able to help others grin

I forgot to state in my gist that we were further delayed by two (2) hours in Cairo only to compensate us with small juice can and bottle water.

Na so I stood for one aged black woman (perhaps a Nigerian Canadian) inside the intra-airport conveying bus to sit, I got a nonchalant "Don't worry"/snub. I doubt if I will do that again except here in Nigeria.

EgyptAir tends to be a cheaper option for Lagos to Toronto flight but expensive for Lagos to Calgary when compared with Ethiopian Airline.

Btw, no free Wifi at Cairo airport as at November 2019.

TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by megastu(m): 1:53am On Feb 21, 2020
In my case, I applied with my wife and we were both given and went on holiday together. The next summer we were to go with our kids. We put in the kids' application on a Monday, by Thursday it was approved. The kids (8 and 6) had already been to the UK several times, Germany, Holland, and America twice. So their travel history did that for them.
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by megastu(m): 1:47am On Feb 21, 2020
Congrats to you and sorry for your wife's refusal.

Since you have traveled round the world, what was your wife doing all these while? Couldn't she have traveled at least once with you or family vacations?

Anyway you have a long visa validity i suppose, so she should try and at least visit the UK and the US and then try canada again maybe in 12-18 months, she will be given.
Heffalump:
Submitted application for self and Darling Wife on Dec. 9 2019.
Biometric capture invite 10th, the following day.

Biometric capture successfully executed on 20th

Biometric validity and correspondence letters dropped on 18th Feb. 2020
Same day, on 18th Feb. I got passport request while Wifey got a refusal cry

Reasons for Wife's refusal was travel history (madam hasn't traveled out before grin) and the intended purpose of travelling to Canada, which is for vacation. Despite the fact that we are leaving behind 3 kids is not a strong tie to the VO.
I will just collect the visa and might not use it eventually.

Had to share our experience for intending applicants to note the timeline, about 60 days to request a passport.

N.B:
I work in a reputable organisation and have a strong travelling history to major countries in Europe and America.
Wish you all the best!!
Technology MarketRe: House Clearance Sales.. Come In Here!!!! by megastu(m): 11:58am On Feb 20, 2020
You took the words out of my mouth. When this thread started you could see items for descent, reasonable price. What you see now is mostly greedy sellers and garrulous middlemen selling items, sometimes even more expensive than brand new ones. It's sad!
KINGreignn:
Guys, honestly, you all should forget about this clearance thread. It's not working; it's purpose has been utterly bastardized and terribly defeated. Reason for saying this is simply because out of 100 items posted here, 5 items max are genuine clearance sales the rest are greedy sellers and middlemen hoarding their wares. Some human beings here are despicably wicked, self-centered and evil to sell fake or even broken items for 5x the price of a genuine brand new item. Unfortunately, the gullible and greedy and uninformed ones will gladly jump at that demonic offer.

For y'all who still have faith in this thread, I'd give you a lil exposé. When you see any item here for sale, visit Jumia, Konga, Jiji etc look at the average selling price, you'd notice these online platforms do sell at a slightly outrageous price, say NGN 2,500-25,000. Now, go to a real market close to you especially a big market, find same good, beat the price and you'd be surprised that what jumia /konga /jiji sellers are putting at say NGN 50,000 may be NGN 43,000. And our greedy sellers on this very thread have over inflated theirs to say NGN60,000-80,000.
