ZIMDRILL: which post did you read?
you are replying to your own version of the story
1 her own mum came to look after the child and that move the sisters took it as "her own mum has influence in her daughter's marriage"
2 so since that incident they have never liked her mum t I dont understand that part. Is it that the mum came for omugwo or that she went and dropped the baby with the mum without informing the in-laws |

LadyExcellency: In Nigeria, a 25 years old female is a girl by their wirings
She should work but as self-employed We are not talking about wirings. Stop generalising. You dont know the OP so you dont have the right to suggest that she will automatically go and mess up just because of age. I agree that she should go self-employed for now to avoid further punishment from the husband NOT because she is young. Her age is not relevant. |

Adedayobusayo12: Single ladies, shine your eyes before you marry. Some men are not worth it. A man will leave his family and cleave to his wife. They are one! If I like I will carry my child and give my parents to look after if that's what will give me peace of mind. A husband that cannot mediate between his siblings and wife and also draw a line so as each will not cross is a fool. Get a job and do what you enjoy. Let the fool marry his sisters. One idiot will come and stay in my house for five years, come dey spoil my name again, Ogun go kiiii am. I have a brother and I will never go and intimidate his wife or pokenose in his marriage. When you marry into a lowlife family where they all depend on kobo from the man, this is the results. Poor and aggressive siblings. Thank you. Some people are simply useless. Somebody housed you for 5 years and you dont even have the sense to close your stupid mouth |

LadyExcellency: Impatient is inclusive but the wife is still a girl and may not withstand infidelity rampant in today's corporate Nigeria. She is not a girl. Anybody over the age of 18 is classified as a woman and an adult under our laws. It is her right to work and he is wrong to deny her, especially since he already agreed with her plan. BUT for the sake of keeping her marriage and her home, she should try to amend the faults he is seeing in her so as to remain justified in her complaint. Women even older than her still fall prey to job-related infidelity every day so that one is not an excuse. I dont see how you would misuse your authority as a husband to start oppressing somebody due to age. So why did he marry a 21 year old if he knows he cant cope with her |

LadyExcellency: Must she work for somebody to be a fulfilled woman?
Everyone is not same and every circumstance requires a peculiar solution.
The tune of the op signifies arrogance and pride hence the husband decoded the ends from the beginning. Not arrogant but impatient. She should finish what the man told her to do before asking for a bigger one. If her fulfilment comes from working then the man is not supposed to stop her. However if bad manners is his reason then let her improve on her manners and approach him a second time. |

Nat404: Okay but this is just an African mentality, a European woman takes her husband's siblings are hers. Whereas in Nigeria, it's a different ball game in the sense that when a man brings a woman home as his wife, the wife tends to drive away her husband's siblings. Does the European woman expect the husbands family to barge into her home and start ordering her about? The one Africans do is too excessive hence the backlash from the wife (though every case is different) |

simplesearch: He answered, “Haven’t you read in your Bible that the Creator originally made man and woman for each other, male and female? And because of this, a man leaves father and mother and is firmly bonded to his wife, becoming one flesh—no longer two bodies but one. Because God created this organic union of the two sexes, no one should desecrate his art by cutting them apart.” Matthew 19.
In God's reckoning even if your wife is a witch or an integrate, once you are pronounced husband and wife it is your duty as a man to protect her until help comes your way. Inability to detach from parental bond is the bane of many marriages. Even if you and your siblings eat from one plate till adulthood or they spend their last kobo to train you, you must not substitute your family for such gesture. You must speak well of your wife to your family until they see reason to accept her as she is, but on your part don't stop helping them out as much as you can if you have the means, thereafter find a way to let your wife see reason to be at peace with your family members without exposing her to danger. If Adam had got sisters and brothers they probably would have beaten Eve silly for bringing ill luck to their brother and destroying his fortunes in the garden of Eden, in fact many a men would have divorced Eve immediately for such high priced negligence that led to a permanent change of status from pleasure to pain. Family life is not for persons who don't read the bible, pray together or are ready to be a man. This is no license for misbehavior on the part of the woman, for a virtuous woman is not encumbered by the present and mundane things of the world but her heart is set on the Lord. Thank you |

isthatso: If you value your marraige, you just have to learn to be a politician and play them at their game, dont respond to provocations,,,which is what they want and use subtle methods to let your husband see what his sisters are doing. Never tell him directly, let him come to his own conclusions himself. Thats if your husband is the type that will push you in front and avoid asserting himself with his siblings even when they hurt his feelings. |

The problem is not that she doesn't want him to see his father. She agrees he goes in January. The problem is that her husband has never spent Christmas with his own family and handled the finances irresponsibly. Thank you. |

Remember that u r also a mother with sons and one day u may find urself in this position , how would you feel if one your sons stop him from visiting you while you are seriously ill. But when she has grown-up sons with sons of their own, she will remember not to emotionally blackmail them into neglecting their immediate families in order to spend Christmas with her, won't she That's actually the lesson of this thread. Your responsibility is to your wife and son before your parents. The guy doesn't have to go buzzing off every single Christmas. So all the children's memories will be "Daddy was always missing during the holidays?" That's too bad. The lady said she doesn't mind him going by 2nd January, that one is okay for somebody who is married (since the relationship with in-laws is not good) I can't imagine my father disappearing every Christmas and coming back in January, ha! |

I may sound childish, stupid or self centered but yes I wsnt my family together.... You are not childish, self-centred or stupid. You are just getting impatient with the ongoing situation. You're thinking "so Christmas will be like this until when " I see that you have resolved to follow babythug's advice, that one is okay. I understand that you want to create lasting memories with your children that they can cherish like you cherish yours. At the the same time your husband is also pulled by his own memories of his father which is making him neglect you people out of loyalty. Please try to be patient with him (though it's not easy) so that he won't blame you for anything that may happen in future which will cause unnecessary tension in your marriage. |

This one is just an anomaly because I know that if a 19 and 24 year old marry, they will have to make A LOT of extra effort to make each other comfortable so that neither of them will feel as if they are missing out on something. You will be feeling like you just messed up your life getting married straight out of childhood with no chance to explore. Thats where you start getting bitter and seeing insults everywhere except if the 2 of you try your hardest to make it sweet |

The funny thing is that these people quoting human rights, female rights, telling her to fight for her rights are the same people who can't even tell the OP to correct herself. You're overlooking the important details just to push your own agenda. But you dont know that youre just being impractical by applying your principles INAPPROPRIATELY to the WRONG SITUATION . You cant quote rights to somebody who doesnt care! The man doesnt care, her family doesnt care, his family doesnt care. So who is going to listen to her speech? Begging or asking your husband for something doesnt remove anything from your body. It does not make you a "weak woman". It does not make you a fool. It simply means that you are smart enough to read your husbands emotions and respond to them instead of trying to force his hand. She mentioned that the guy doesn't like the way she relates with their daughter, but you people will never mention that side. Is the daughter not a human He accuses her of going too far when scolding their child, but it doesnt matter as long as she gets to power off to her office every morning. She mentioned that he is already unhappy with her to the extent that he doesnt eat her food, doesnt talk to her and no longer plays with her. Dont you think she should resolve some of that tension before embarking on the job crusade? She mentioned that people have told her that she is stubborn. Even from what she has written here we can see that it's somewhat true. Open business for you, no. Start online business while the baby is at school and make your own money, no. Must she go outside now now now? Can't you compromise and work from home to show the man that you have taken what he said on board? You people will not look at that side, just to tell her to rush outside and start looking for a job. The job he gave her to do with that baby, he's not okay with it but apparently that doesn't matter as long as she gets her dream job right this minute, at the ripe old age of 24 smh Keep feeding people unrealistic advice everywhere until you get somebody thrown out of her house |

I'm sorry that she said all those crazy things to you but don't you think you should have completed the marriage rites by now? That's very insulting. You're just leaving somebody on tenterhooks so you can bounce anytime you feel like (like you're doing now). Maybe she's just going bananas with insecurity Hmm well, she too has told you she is tired. If you say you can no longer cope you are free to go but you actually didn't start on a good foundation.
