Nairaland General › Re: Always Find A Balance In Life by Mryacks: 3:48pm On Nov 28, 2019 |
binarymachine: It is difficult these days to exhibit good virtues because people tend to take advantage of good people. You try to be nice, you are taken for granted and termed weak. You trust people, you are betrayed and called dumb. You try to be polite, people talk trash at you and make you feel defenseless. You try to be gentle, people trample on you and say you are not smart and strong enough. Therefore the world is filled with mean people trying not to be on the victim side. But must we keep being this way? In as much as life wants us to be bad, we have to find a balance and do good whenever we can. We only need to be careful who we do good to and how we do it, in other not to be taken advantage of.
Be Kind
As much as people may have taken advantage of your kindness in the time past and you felt used and stupid. Never stop being kind when you can and when its needed. There are people out there who genuinely need your kindness. Do not deny them of it because of some unscrupulous and fraudulent persons, someone’s life may depend on it. Becareful not to be used again, confirm that the person really needs your help and go ahead to help. Good deeds have a way of rebounding and you will eventually be rewarded someday.
Trust
This is a very sensitive one, one way or the other, we have all been betrayed my someone we have trusted and the pain is not something we like to remember. However, you can’t punish everybody for the mistakes of a few. Trust but verify. Learn to get to know the people around you and check their intentions towards you before you give them your full trust. If you must get things done, you still have to trust somebody. Don let betrayals of a few prevent you from moving ahead in life. Trust anyway, but be careful.
Be Content
In as much as mediocrity is not so encouraged, sometimes you have to take a step back, calculate your gains and losses and be grateful for the things you have. It could have been worse. This is not to say you should not go ahead to keep pursuing your ambitions, but realise that all fingers will never be equal and we will not always have it all. Be grateful for the ones you have and how far you have come, move on knowing you have done your best so far. Don’t let motivational speakers push you into killing yourself just to have it all in life. Success has no singular definition, we are all successful in our own different ways and efforts. Be content.
Finally, in all you do, find a balance in life and live happy, don’t be too good, don’t be too bad. Just find what works for you. Be kind when needed, trust anyway but verify and try to be content with your life. Live happy!

Christianity Etc › Re: Your Untamed Sexual Desires Can Hinder Your Miracles by Mryacks: 12:38pm On Nov 28, 2019 |
Interesting15: by Sunday Akanni
God loves performing miracles and doing signs and wonders for His Glorification. It takes God nothing to bring forth a superb miracle. Checking Genesis 1, you will see that Jehovah is the first ever to bring about great signs and wonders: He commanded... bringing forth creation out of nothing.
After the fall of man in the Garden of Eden (I.e after our first parents - Adam and Eve sinned against God by disobeying His loving commands), the world and its systems became perverted, and it became difficult to experience the type of pleasantness and bliss in God's original plan. To make things right again, God had to perform another miracle: Coming in the flesh through a virgin, to appease His own self with His own blood! And so, through JESUS, humanity have the chance again to live above the dictates of the perverted systems of this world without compromise.
Allowing the miracles of God will surely give you an edge in life, in your academics, in your career, your ministry, your business, and so on. This edge will help you excel the world, place you above its perverted systems, and above the devil. So, how then can you enjoy the miraculous every moment of your life? The answer is right there in Genesis chapter one.
In verse 2, scriptures showed us the presence of the Spirit: ".....And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the deep." In the next verse, it was written: "Then God said, Let there be light...." What had happened there? GOD SPOKE THE WORD! God introduced the Word! Who is the Word? JESUS CHRIST (John 1). What happened after that? A miracle occurred! "...and there was light" (which came from darkness).
So, the union of the Spirit and the Word will always produce the miraculous!
To enjoy a life filled with miracles, you must have the Word genuinely in you. You must embrace Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. When God abide in you and you are sure of His Presence over you, simply speak the Word and birth the miraculous with faith.
Unfortunately, one major thing that keeps hindering people from experiencing a lifestyle of miracles, is sin. Today, a lot of people are being held bondage by sexual sins (premarital sex, extramarital sex, masturbation, homosexuality, etc) and they keep struggling with life, living below God's expectations and standards, and not fulfilling destiny.
You know, one of the things sin does is that it dulls the mind, whereby many sinners feel they are living the best life and enjoying themselves, when in real proper sense, they are living below their destined-potentials. If you fail to gain dominion over sin and the flesh through Jesus Christ, it becomes impossible to allow the presence of the God in your life - as God is Holy, and He can only manifest in a Holy place.
Please, don't forget this. Life is not meant to be hard. Life wasn't designed to be run on human ability, but it was molded to be on the frequency of Grace. If you can allow God and shun all forms of immoralities, things will get easier for you. The Spirit of God will abide in you conducively, and you can always trust Jesus to help you speak the right words at the right time that will produce daily miracles.
You are destined to live your life serving God in holiness. Don't let anyone deceive you. God bless you in JESUS CHRIST Name. Amen.

Romance › Re: Not All Women Want Your Money… by Mryacks: 9:19pm On Nov 27, 2019 |
binarymachine: The love for the good and expensive life has driven most ladies into wanting everything luxury. They want to live in beautiful mansions in posh areas, they want to ride in nice cars, eat good food, use expensive gadgets, buy expensive dresses and wear expensive make ups and hairs etc. This pushes them to move towards persons who they feel can provide all these and sometimes hurting the ones who can’t. Hence the notion that ladies love money.
However there are ladies out there who do not really care about the financial security a man has to offer. This set of ladies are not limited only to the rich ones but even the broke ones. There are broke expossed girls who are not moved by life and all of its luxuries and flaunting it just to get them to notice you is a deal breaker for them. Yes! they exist. There are ladies who are looking for simplicity, honesty and love. All they want is someone who will show them love and care, shower them with attention and affection and stick with them no matter their flaws.
Everyone loves money and everybody needs money, however, not all ladies you come across are so impressed by cash and luxury. Even if they may desire it, not every lady makes it a deal breaker. Women also need love and affection, attention and quality time. Sometimes a simple compliment or gesture is all that is needed to kick things off. That lady you see around looking all sexy and serious, just say hi and let her know she looks beautiful, tell her the shoes are pretty, offer to get her a pack of pop corn and you might just be surprised how things will roll.
Purge that mentality of “all women love money” and all they want and care for is cash. You will be spending a lot of money on women and attracting the wrong ones. All men love money too, everybody does. We all want the good life and financial security, stop picking on the ladies.

VBCampaign: Sex Tapes and Depraved Viewers
In the past week another sex tape hit the Nigerian social media space. A young couple can be seen in the video in what is best called compromised positions. It happens that the two of them are students of Babcock University. Almost immediately after the tape was published, the university issues a statement saying that the boy in the tape had since been rusticated from the school; while the university has now taken the decision to also expel the lady.
In a bid to get more information on the story I thought I should view the tape myself. So I searched on YouTube and saw this seven minute video of a young man saying something like this:
“Eh, so what are you looking for? Sex tape abi? I don’t have any sex tape here o. I just want you to subscribe to my channel. You know, you people come here and watch me tell jokes all the time but you don’t follow my YouTube videos. Is it good? Now sex tape has been released and you are all running around looking for it. It is not here… Just subscribe to my channel; abeg…”
While his message was meant to be cheeky and a creative way to get people to follow his videos on YouTube, it turned out to be a rebuke on my own heart. What exactly did I need a sex scene for? The facts of the story were already in the public. So why was I looking for the video to validate the story? I realized that my own depraved mind was looking for something which was clearly pornographic but couched in the guise of a breaking news. It did not take long to see my heart. I repented.
The fact of this story is simply this: all of us are in one way or the other culpable in this matter. I would use the rest of this essay to describe our sins to us with the hope that we all can find repentance and possibly that kind of faith in Jesus Christ that would spur a holiness that can prevent partaking in the next sex tape will hit the Nigerian social media sphere.
First, the couple are guilty. Their guilt is not in the fact that they had sex. If these young people are above the age of eighteen, they are adults and they have the right to do whatever they wish with their bodies. And since they are clearly not professing Christians I cannot use the standard of God’s law to judge to them here. Their sins are in recording their actions on tape. No one knows yet who published that tape but it appears that the very filming was done by the duo themselves and possibly preserved for each other’s viewing pleasure – in private. But with time, things could have happened. There may have been a fallen out between them. One of them may have given the tape to a friend, who eventually began to use it to blackmail them. The possibilities are endless. So the foremost mistake they made was in putting a private act, a precious and sacred act, on recording. I hold the theory that 100% of nude photos and sex tapes will come to the public – sooner or later. It is better those things are never recorded. A naked human body is a sacred picture that should be preserved for that person alone; or for their spouses within the boundaries of a marriage. The moment it goes beyond those boundaries, anything can go wrong. In these days of recording videos on phones, people should realize that it is wrong to make nude recording. It is a sin against human nature that has the potential to destroy one’s life.
Second, Babcock University is guilty. I am hoping that the young girl and her family would realize that there is no law in Nigeria that forbids anyone from having sex – whether or not it is recorded on tape. I hope that they can find lawyers that will sue that university blind and collect damages. Babcock University, an institution owned by the Seventh Day Adventist Churches in Nigeria, are being hypocritical in sending away a student all because her sex tapes were published. Of course they would say that they are both a university and a religious organization and such acts contravene their moral code. But they forget that there are hundreds of other acts like these going on right under their noses. The difference is that those ones are yet to be caught. If Adventist’s Christianity is genuinely redemptive, restoring that girl to a relationship with Jesus Christ should be higher in their agenda than separating themselves from her failures. This situation reminds one of Jesus’ words to the Pharisee: “…he that is without sin should cast the first stone…” (John 8:7). Babcock University will expel that young girl because they have failed to bring their own children and wards up in the way of the Lord. And the moment an act that will tarnish their reputation is published, they now do everything to distance themselves from it. They remind me of Foursquare Churches Nigeria, who quickly distanced themselves from the Mr. “Lecturer” of University of Lagos, following the BBC publishing of sex for marks in that school. If these institutions are genuinely intent on instilling morals in their wards, they would not be casting them out the very minute they discover they fail.
Third, the viewers of the sex tapes are all guilty. That is you and me. Has anyone ever wondered why sex-tapes go viral? Viral means that something has gone everywhere – like the spread of a virus. The reason such videos go viral is because certain people are watching them. If you do not watch a video and choose not to pass it on to the next person, the video will stop right there on it tracks. But there is a depravity in all of us that loves to see nudity. Many of us do not watch pornography but we enjoy the sight of others being exposed while doing what people should be doing in private. It is sin in us that makes us crave to see sex tapes and this is where repentance is required of us all. We are all guilty.
There is this scripture that has helped me to deal with my own heart depravity regarding sex. It is the words of Apostle Paul:
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his body in holiness and honor…” 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4.
While the command to abstain from sexual immorality is clear in the whole of the Bible, the latter instruction is very helpful: it says to know how to control one’s body. Now that is the key to dealing with sexual immorality: know your triggers and separate yourself from them. It may be a look; it may be a touch; it may be a gist-partner; it may be friends; or it may be movies or recorded videos. The trigger points for sexual immorality are abundant and if we are intent on pleasing God with our bodies as Christians, we must know these things and separate ourselves from them. The very act of separation is what sanctification entails.
But even much more than these: we would realize that these admonition was not to everyone. The letter was written to Christians in Thessalonica. It means therefore that anyone who is not a Christian does not have anything in himself to control his body against sexual sin, besides will power; and the moment your will power is compromised, you are done. Thus the very next admonition is to call all who wish to know victory over their sexual appetites to believe in Jesus Christ and find the help of his Holy Spirit to overcome their inner depravity.
The words of Paul puts the Babcock students’ scandal to perspective: separation from sexual sin is holding the human body in honor. Humanities’ use of sex may either lead to glory and honor, or to shame and disgrace. Sex is a sacred act that God has created within the boundaries of marriage alone. Anything outside of these boundaries will lead to shame, dishonor and sometimes even death. This is the story of Babcock and her students; and it will be the story of all who choose to dishonor God in their bodies with sexual immorality. The next victim can be you if you choose to continue in your way of sin and dishonor.

I am all for this...good read! Ladycewhy: "Women have nothing to offer but sex" "Women bring nothing to the table"
I am sure these phrases sounds familiar. I have noticed there is a psychological conditioning going on ,when you are told you are not good enough you dont strive to be better.You are made as a woman to accept what is thrown at you and maintain the status quo after all ,this generation of women have it better than those of old , you should be grateful the patriarchy society even allowed you some privileges like education since girl education was one time a taboo, you should be grateful, You might even be told, the only good thing you are for as a woman is popping out babies.
Many women do not know a woman is the backbone of any nation,the nurturer, extinction of a population depends on women. If your lineage will survive it depends on the woman which is why women and children are the main target of war.
Do you also know that as a woman you can change the future? Yes, you can by how you raise your children today, how you nurture them and shape their though process. What is it about society treatment towards women you want to change ? start by shaping the thought process of your children towards that direction,do not neglect your sons to be another woman's headache , teach your daughters self esteem and self respect, you are the nurturer, the key to the next adult to be released into the society is in your hands, this is the time to be parentally alert to how your children respond and see issues, change begins with you. |

Romance › Re: How Do We Test True Love? by Mryacks: 1:11pm On Nov 25, 2019 |
What a piece! OladimejiRufai: Well, I have an advice for you my boy @OP
From this moment, stop looking for true love
I'm not implying that you cannot find it but stop looking for it.
Rather start looking for a lady who is psychologically wired to always do the right thing and has a very advanced understanding of life.
See, in most cases, love is transient.
Sometimes, people fall in love because they fell into a moment where they perceived something that touched their heart from the other person. And then moments later, they find out that the feelings are lost.
sometimes, people fall in love because there's constant communication or commitment between both persons and they are just lost in the fun of it and think they are in love. If something happens that distracts one of them from achieving the constant communication or commitment to the other person, they find that they lose the love gradually.
sometimes, people's love for another person is usually connected to some features of that person that fascinates them or blows them away.
"oh, the guy is funny." "the girl is intelligent" "the guy is charming" "the girl is georgous" e.t.c and they continue to fall in love so far these qualities are present. But what happens when they lose those qualities or those qualities gradually fade away? that's how the love will also be lost or will gradually fade away.
So in most cases, love is transient. This is proven by the many broken relationships where you hear from both sides that they have fallen out of love.
So if a person were to enter a marriage because of love, he or she is likely to be no more interested in the marriage eventually and may crave attention or love elsewhere and may want to break up the marriage.
That's the reason why I said you should look for someone with a larger and better understanding of life and who is psychologically wired to do the right thing.
this is because when it gets to the stage in a marriage where both spouses have fallen out of love, for people who do not fulfil the said criteria (no understanding of life or being wired to do the right thing), they would want to break up or would start seeking love elsewhere and they many end up cheating etc.
But for someone who fulfils that criteria;
- someone who understands that this life is not a bed of roses and it is not everything you want that you get;
- someone who understands that the purpose of marriage is not necessarily to love rather it is to show care, support each other, become responsible, help each other achieve desired goals and for mankind to multiply (procreation);
- someone who understands that there is time for everything and there are some certain pleasures that should not be sought at all stages of life or the pleasures should be limited at some point in time (imagine a 45 year old woman complaining that her husband doesn't take her out for shopping or so like he used to when she was still 25 when she should be more concerned about caring for the kids that she didn't have then but have now and focus on making them successful in life)
- someone who understands that this life itself is a place of trials and there'll always be sour times or times when you would have to forgo your heart desires for the right thing to be done;
- someone who understands that the pleasures of the hereafter are far greater than those of this life and is more concerned about that and because of that, he or she gives up some pleasures in this world just for the right thing to be done.
- someone who has values, who understands cheating is bad, who understands that it is an evil thing to extort or deceive a partner for personal gains, who knows how to control anger and doesn't expect perfection from the other partner, who understands that for a marriage to work, both sides must be committed to it, who understands that deceiving a partner and extorting him should not be the measure by which you "make it in life", and who is psychologically wired to follow all those values;
So for someone who has a better understanding of life and is wired to do the right thing, such are the people who stay in a marriage when there's no more "love" or when they have fallen out of love and continue to try everything to make it work till the end.
So this is what you should be looking for, for "true love" Is scarce.
If eventually you are able to find true love in a partner that fulfils the above criteria, then consider it a plus, consider it a blessing and thank God for it.

True religion is not preaching to those in need or preaching to the orphans and widows. A single cup of water is more useful to a thirsty man than hours of preaching.
You don't need to be a pastor to help the needy. Just giving your old clothes to those in need, buy a carton of noodles and give to that nursing mother you know is passing through difficult times, or even helping that applicant to rewrite his or her CV.
Don't let the selfishness of our religious leaders rob you of your humanity. Give and help people, nature always has a way of giving you back. Try it for a week and see the results. Well said.. |
