DappaD: Yes sin and death were also addressed as kings. (Romans 5:14,21). But I don't think that made them real persons with identities. Theres a difference between personification and an actual person. Let me ask you one simple question. Is God a person or is personified? Because the Holyspirit is the Spirit of God. |

DappaD: When has the holy spirit ever had a two-way conversation with anybody in the Bible? Shouldn't be so hard to show such a scripture, should it?
At Acts 13:2, Paul and Barnabas were simply appointed as apostles by holy spirit – it doesn't mean holy spirit was having a conversation with them. The to-be apostles got the message/assignment directly from Jehovah God himself, so God spoke to them through a figurative ‘loudspeaker’ – that is, holy spirit. A loudspeaker isn't a living being, is it? Just a means of transmitting messages/information. That's how God, by his holy spirit communicated with them.
Janosky abeg come explain this with better illustrations. You seem to have a gift of good illustrations Now the Holyspirit is not a force but a loud speaker? Like I always tell people, you can defend what you want to believe in the bible. The bible is an interesting book like that. Anyway, I've shown you portions where the Holyspirit was addressed as a Person by Jesus Christ himself and also the apostles. I understand you don't believe in trinity but that doesn't mean you should deny portions of the bible which personify the Holyspirit. |

Revelations 17:16 Jesus used terms peculiar with living things for Death and Grave saying they were thrown into FIRE! Revelations 20:14
So only those who understands his terms will be able to produce the FRUIT of God's holy spirit, no matter how others argue they can never produce that FRUIT! How then do you determine when it is a figure of speech and when it is a literal expression? |

Numbers 11:17 KJV "And I will come down and talk with you there: and I will take of the spirit which is on you, and will put it on them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you bear it not yourself alone.
*Numbers 11:25 "And the Yahweh came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease"
...Romans 8:16,26 KJV
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
"26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
John 1:32. “And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending like a dove, and IT abode upon him.” You're quite predictable. I knew you would single out verses which suit your idea of the Holyspirit while ignoring those that represent him as a person. I will help you all the same. Take your time to study further. John 15:26 But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. Acts 13:2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, qthe Holy Spirit said, r“Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul sfor the work to which I have called them.” John 16:7-14 But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.8When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt[1] in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment:9in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me;10in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer;11and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.12"I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.13But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.14He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.
|

I have just been thinking a lot cos I don’t even know what could happen in future that will make the pastors say no.
And the main thing here now is now that my mom has asked these people she will never support this marriage, how do I convince her?
And I can’t break up with my gf she has been with me through a lot .. I just tire. Been praying to God that if she’s not for me she should be the one to break up or f*ck up I don’t want to hurt her. chatinent: We as Jehovah’s Witnesses adhere to the form of Christianity that Jesus taught and that his apostles practiced. This article summarizes our basic beliefs. . 1. God. We worship the one true and Almighty God, the Creator 'who has a name', and whose name is Jehovah. (Psalm 83:18; Revelation 4: 11) He is the God of Abraham, Moses, and Jesus.—Exodus 3:6; 32:11; John 20:17. . 2. Bible. We recognize the Bible as God’s inspired message to humans. (John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16) We base our beliefs on all 66 of its books, which include both the “Old Testament” and the “New Testament.” Professor Jason D. BeDuhn aptly described it when he wrote that Jehovah’s Witnesses built “their system of belief and practice from the raw material of the Bible without predetermining what was to be found there.” * While we accept the entire Bible, we are not fundamentalists. We recognize that parts of the Bible are written in figurative or symbolic language and are not to be understood literally. —Revelation 1:1. . 3. Jesus. We follow the teachings and example of Jesus Christ and honor him as our Savior and as the Son of God. (Matthew 20:28; Acts 5:31) Thus, we are Christians. (Acts 11:26) However, we have learned from the Bible that Jesus is not Almighty God and that there is no Scriptural basis for the Trinity doctrine.—John 14:28. . 4. The Kingdom of God. This is a real government in heaven, not a condition in the hearts of Christians. It will replace human governments and accomplish God’s purpose for the earth. (Daniel 2:44; Matthew 6:9, 10) It will take these actions soon, for Bible prophecy indicates that we are living in “ the last days.”—2 Timothy 3:1-5; Matthew 24:3-14. Jesus is the King of God’s Kingdom in heaven. He began ruling in 1914.—Revelation 11:15. . 5. Salvation. Deliverance from sin and death is possible through the ransom sacrifice of Jesus. (Matthew 20:28; Acts 4:12) To benefit from that sacrifice, people must not only exercise faith in Jesus but also change their course of life and get baptized. (Matthew 28:19, 20; John 3:16; Acts 3:19, 20) A person’s works prove that his faith is alive. (James 2:24, 26) However, salvation cannot be earned—it comes through “the undeserved kindness of God.”—Galatians 2:16, 21. . 6. Heaven. Jehovah God, Jesus Christ, and the faithful angels reside in the spirit realm. * (Psalm 103:19-21; Acts 7:55) A relatively small number of people—144,000—will be resurrected to life in heaven to rule with Jesus in the Kingdom.—Daniel 7:27; 2 Timothy 2:12; Revelation 5:9, 10; 14:1, 3. . 7. Earth. God created the earth to be mankind’s eternal home. (Psalm 104:5; 115:16; Ecclesiastes 1:4) God will bless obedient people with perfect health and everlasting life in an earthly paradise. Of course, it was his original purpose while creating man.—Psalm 37:11, 34. . 8. Evil and suffering. These began when one of God’s angels rebelled. (John 8:44) This angel, who after his rebellion was called “Satan” and “Devil,” persuaded the first human couple to join him, and the consequences have been disastrous for their descendants. ( Genesis 3:1-6; Romans 5:12) In order to settle the moral issues raised by Satan, God has 'allowed' evil and suffering, but He will not permit them to continue forever. . 9. Death. People who die pass out of existence. (Psalm 146:4; Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10) They do not suffer in a fiery hell of torment. God will bring billions back from death by means of a resurrection. (Acts 24:15) However, those who refuse to learn God’s ways after being raised to life will be destroyed forever with no hope of a resurrection.— Revelation 20:14, 15. . 10. Family. We adhere to God’s original standard of marriage as the union of one man and one woman, with sexual immorality being the only valid basis for divorce. (Matthew 19:4-9) We are convinced that the wisdom found in the Bible helps families to succeed.—Ephesians 5:22–6:1. . 11. Our worship. We do not venerate the cross or any other images. (Deuteronomy 4:15-19; 1 John 5:21) Key aspects of our worship include the following: Praying to God.—Philippians 4:6. Reading and studying the Bible.—Psalm 1:1-3. Meditating on what we learn from the Bible.—Psalm 77:12. Meeting together to pray, study the Bible, sing, express our faith, and encourage fellow Witnesses and others.— Colossians 3:16; Hebrews 10:23-25. Preaching the “good news of the Kingdom.”—Matthew 24:14. Helping those in need.—James 2:14-17. Constructing and maintaining Kingdom Halls and other facilities used to further our worldwide Bible educational work.— Psalm 127:1. Sharing in disaster relief.—Acts 11:27-30. . 12. Our organization. We are organized into congregations, each of which is overseen by a body of elders. However, the elders do not form a clergy class, and they are unsalaried. (Matthew 10:8; 23: We do not practice tithing, and no collections are ever taken at our meetings. (2 Corinthians 9:7) All our activities are supported by anonymous donations. The Governing Body, a small group of mature Christians who serve at our world headquarters, provides direction for Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide.— Matthew 24:45. . I couldn't help but notice there was no mention of the Holyspirit who is the gift from God to all believers. Acts 2:38-39 The teacher of all Christian's and through whom there is power to heal and bear the gifts and fruit of the Spirit. John 14:26 I have often heard that JW do not recognise the Holyspirit that you only see him as a force. How true is that? |

chatinent: Of course, Christians who want to marry are commanded to choose only a fellow believer. ( 1 Corinthians 7:39) Jehovah’s Witnesses view this command as referring not merely to a person who respects our beliefs but to one who shares and practices those beliefs as a baptized Witness. ( 2 Corinthians 6:14) God has always directed his worshippers to marry only those of the same faith. ( Genesis 24:3; Malachi 2:11) This command is also practical, as modern researchers have found. . I know some will reprove me saying 'we are all Christians.' Think: If you marry, will you appreciate if she didn't come to your church? Will it end in happiness? Would you share her beliefs? Even greatly, it will be disobedience to our God. We appreciate marrying people who share our beliefs; it brings happiness and we can avoid marry problems as pre-marital sex, unwanted pregnancies, and STDs. . Next time when you say 'we are all Christians,' do well to be open-minded to ask yourself if your beliefs are the same with ours. . Gracias. . Comments are welcome. I'll respond to civil ones. This balls down to the same division in the body of Christ. Christian's are divided, it's not just JW. Catholics don't marry outside catholic except you choose to accept to become one of them. Likewise white garment and some other orthodox churches. New generation churches place less emphasis on this, though some of them are beginning to imbibe the culture too. Christians don't really believe you're a Christian unless you are from their own denomination. I remember when I was attending Bro Gbile's Discipleship classes, that was even worse. You're not Christian until you are a consistent member of their class. The division is an eyesore. |

dalass: Happy Sunday to all Nairalanders.
Congratulations to us all. By God's special grace, we're seeing the last Sunday in July despite all the evil happenings all over. To God be the glory!
Sabbath is biblical and observed by Jews from sun down on Friday till sundown on Saturday.
It was ordained by God as the day in which He rested after creating the heaven and earth in six days.
Sabbath was really made by God for mankind because God
- Does not sleep or slumber He doesn't get tired like we do. He's a Spiritual supernatural being. We are flesh and we get tired, hence we do need rest. - God wants a day to have us to Himself without the distractions that trading or other activities bring into worship. - Every living thing God made needs to rest to avoid breaking down. - There is a place of rest in God spiritually that we need to enter for our own peace of mind. It is possible to lay down and try to sleep but if your spirit/ mind is not at rest ( busy or worried) you won't sleep!
Do you observe Sabbath? Which day do you observe yours? (Friday Saturday or Sunday) Why do you worship or rest on that particular day of the week? Have churches been opened in your State?
Do have a wonderful Sunday! Sabbath is Friday to Muslims, Saturday to Jews and Sunday to Christians. I call it Separation of power.lol But to a follower of Christ, it is insignificant. It is not a matter of day of the week or geographical location. For those who worship the Father worship in Spirit and Truth as God seeks those to worship him. John 4:19-24 |

JourneytoEL: I have many experiences, but let me share one, I was in church one day rounding up my personal fasting and prayer for an internship placement and for a fruit of the womb. I just came from the market with a heavy load, as I dropped my offering money my conscience told me to drop every cash I had on me including my transport like every money in my pocket. I hesitated at first wondering if it was from the devil, I was also thinking of how people will laugh at me, a newly married woman trekking that distance with a heavy load, people will say my husband doesn't take care of me, but the pressure on my conscience was much, what if I slump on the road because I was so tired. I finally said, if i perish, I perish. I dropped all the money i had on me, carried my heavy load and started trekking home, I had not trekked up to 10 steps, my neighbour saw me from afar, started calling my name, packed and took me home. That was when I knew it was truly God. The internship list came out 2 weeks later, out of 66 applicants they took 8 and my name was miraculously among. Everyone kept asking me what sort of connection did I use, because the hospital normally takes just 5-6 every year, what happened did I do that the rule was bent this year. That same month I missed my period and to his Glory I had a son 9 months later. Thanks for sharing. Have you heard from God concerning the present global crises? Especially concerning Covid-19? Is it real or a hoax? If real, is it God's punishment or man-made bio-weapon from China? |
Christianity Etc › Re: 5 Common Ways God Can Speak To You by Myer(m): 7:53am On Jul 26, 2020 |
JourneytoEL: The ability to hear directly from God is one of the greatest achievements any Christian can make on earth. There are 3 types of voices a Christian can hear: * Voice of flesh(self) * Voice of the devil * Voice of God The goal is to know the voice of God perfectly to recognize the voices of counterfeit, because the devil is a master impersonator. God's words glorify him always, makes you love him the more. God's words can never contradict the Bible. Whenever you hear a voice that contradicts the Word of God know it's from the devil. Very common examples of devil's voices are: * Go and commit fornication with that church member for more anointing. My grace is sufficient for you.(It is against 1 Cor 6:18) * Stop attending any church just worship me from your house (God can never tell you to stop attending church services, however he can direct you to another Bible believing Church that will groom you properly). It's against Heb 10:25, Ecc 4:9-11, 1 Thes 5:11. Etc
How does God speak to us. Visions and trances In Acts 10:8, God spoke to Peter through this way and he still does it today. The devil has his own counterfeit. He too can disguise as an angel of light (2 Cor 11:14). He mostly uses astral travel and out of the body experiences. (Whenever you see a vision or supernatural encounter watch out if the name of Jesus is mentioned, if you can speak out His name thrice and watch out for reactions).
Our Conscience That little still voice telling us to good and judging us is the voice of God. His laws are in the hearts of every human being, however disobeying the voice results in a hardened heart that rarely hears God. Prov 20:27 says the Spirit of man is the lamp of God, searching his innermost heart ( conscience).
Divine Ideas Attimes during prayers, an idea you weren't thinking of can jump into her heart. That is one the ways God speaks to you. He can also put pressure in your heart to perform a good cause.
Others are the directing us to the Scriptures, dreams, directing us to His true messengers(prophets), through sermons, Christian meditation(not yoga).
Share other ways through which you have heard the voice of God. Just out of curiosity, can you share an experience where you heard from God and it came to pass or helped you. |

izzyboi: When I was younger and got my first phone from my parents, I tried sometimes to call my number from my phone but it never went through for once.
As I grew older and owned a dual SIM phone, I tried to call one SIM from the other but every single time I tried, I got a reply along the lines of "Sorry, the customer is not reachable".
I believe you have tried it once (well, that's if you're inquisitive as me). So, let's get to the point of this article- why you can't call your number from your phone.
Here's a really simple explanation.
When you attempt to call yourself, your number becomes busy trying to send out a call.
What happens next?
Your number can't receive that call because it's busy trying to make a call happen!
Here's a bit technical explanation. When you attempt a call, a signal is sent to the satellite, the satellite receives it and sends it to the person who are trying to call. In the case where you're trying to call yourself, your phone is busy sending out a signal and cannot receive another at the same time.
But this is not where it ends.
Programming from network operators could be also responsible. When you call a busy line (not your phone number), the system activates call waiting. However, in the case of calling your own phone number, the system does not allow(invoke) call waiting.
So now you know why the call never went through.

Amen! The problem is that people do not read their bibles. Hosea 4:6 That's why they are tossed everywhere by the crafty doctrines of men. Ephesians 4:14 Yes, not tithing used to attract curses on the Jews. Malachi 3:8-9 But the blood of Jesus redeemed all from the curses of the law. Galatians 3:13-14 Now you give willingly and cheerfully. 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 Not because there's any financial curse to it. So many financially successfull non-Christians and even Christians don't tithe but give as they will. Oyedepo is one of the biggest corrupted prosperity preachers who has exalted the love of money above God. 1 Timothy 6:5-10 Virtually all his messages are based on faith in tithes and seed sowing for financial prosperity, not faith in Jesus Christ. The lockdown continues to expose these wolves in sheep clothing profiting of the gullible masses. Matthew 7:15-17 The irony is they invite you to their church with the message of salvation from every sin and curse. But when you become a member the message changes. All of a sudden you're not completely saved and you are cursed if you do not pay tithes. That's why most Christians pay tithes out of fear and not cheerful heart. |

To your questions, if you believe in God and live rightly and at the other side, there truly exists the heavens and the hell, then you have something to gain as a reward for your belief and righteousness. If there exists no heaven and no hell, then you have nothing to loose as your belief and righteousness cost you nothing than just having gone as good man in the face of the current people on earth.
Philosophically, I will rather believe in God and live rightly, get there and meet no heaven or hell than not believing and live rightly, then get there and meet heaven and hell.
At last, it's all about CHOICE. Nothing is by force. But tomorrow will always be the product of the choice we made today.
Selah What if your belief continues to fail? Believing in God promises divine guidance, healing, joy, peace of mind, prosperity, etc. What if these are not your reality even as a Christian? Are you not lying to yourself and living in denial? |

emrain: The gospel
A lot was accomplished with the mental model above, great cities were built, most importantly, great men with character emerged from it.
In my little research on why religion had a backward effect in Africa, I noticed something profound - Africans are more interested in making heaven rather than making the earth heaven. The reverse is the case with progressive nations.
Heaven is not the goal of religion. Heaven is merely a reward for making God’s earth a better place. A reward you'd have to die to receive. The elucidation in Matthew 25:35-40 couldn't have been simpler.
The truth The old religious era has sailed. There's enough reason to do whatever we do for the next generation. There's enough reason to live for others. Why are Africans still missing it?
We have an opportunity to move forward with modern practices and science, but instead, I still see people talk about how Africans would have been better off without western/Arab religions. Some people even reminisce about ancient African religious practices that got them nowhere.
When are we going to move forward with the world? When are we going to upgrade religion to a tool for human advancement instead of a ticket to heaven?
Africa rise! The time is now! Clearly the church has failed in this aspect. The church had been oriented with the heavenly goal mentality they dissociate themselves from making earth a better place. Many churches are still of the opinion that Christian's are not to meddle in politics. The result of which has produced the Nigeria we see today. Also some Christian's also have the mentality that no matter what they do on earth their heaven is secured so they themselves are the ones corrupting the earth as along as they ask God for forgiveness and pay their tithes. |

Stone03: Sorry please I stand to quote you wrong. There can never be a porn addict happy in his/her marriage and there can't be a fire brand Christian struggling with porn. You just dropped these points from your perspective of imagination and not reality. Porn is very demonic with its target towards marriage destruction, you may not understand this. Secondly, only lukewarm Christians struggle with porn and not fire brand ones because the fire of God does not grow on the weakness of men, especially pampered weakness. Well I'm not forming a fact. I'm simply stating from the statistics I've met. I know many firebrand Christian's who everyone in church perceived to be holy but they themselves shared testimonies of how they were addicted to porn all the while but had recently been delivered. If not for their testimony we would not have known. About good marriages, I stand to be corrected. These would hardly come out publicly to share. |

judedwriter: I have written basing mostly on my experiences from porn and masturbation... and I believe many too have the same experiences. That's the problem of writers. You can't form a fact out of your personal experience. Like Joshmodest rightly said, there are many who don't fall into your demographic. Many who are social and have good marriages and still addicted to porn. There are also many firebrand Christians especially the youths addicted to porn. |
