Dear Nairalanders,
I have an issue that has been on my mind for weeks now. My fiancé and I have been dating for over three years. I love him and he loves me too. We are physically attracted to each other. We’re both catholic but since I graduated, during my service year I gave my life to Christ, got saved and left the Catholic Church. So I’ve been a Pentecostal Christian since then. He on the other hand is still catholic. I subtly try to nudge him to consider getting saved, i.e acknowledging Christ as lord and savior and becoming born again but he is content with his laidback Christian life.

Earlier this year, he asked to meet my parents and I let him. My parents like him especially because my younger sis is married and they have been waiting for me too. They’re glad I’ve someone. However, after the introduction,I regret it. I’m now certain that he’s not the one. I think about my spiritual life and how lukewarm he is about the things of God, I think about kids and how we’ll raise the, with such differing views about God and I’m discouraged. I feel like I’m settling because he checks all the boxes on the checklist of physical attributes. Another mistake I made is, I didn’t pray about this decision and that worries me because anything that involves him,I just act with pausing to ask God, but I always ask God about other aspects of my life. So it’s like my associating with him is a minus for my spiritual life and that’s a huge cause for concern.

At this point, I want to tell my parents I am not convinced it’s him but I’m afraid of the disappointment this will cause. *sigh* I’ll appreciate your thoughts, comments, criticisms...

This is a major concern in Christianity.
You have a fellow Christian looking down on another Christian simply because of their different denomination.

Before you attack OP for discriminating against a Catholic you might reconsider when you realise that Catholics discriminate the most.

Most Catholics cannot even contemplate marrying a Non-Catholic as they believe they have the religious lineage from Apostle Peter and every other denomination is simply a product of rebellion that split the church. Catholics believe only they are the true Christians.

In conclusion, his "lukewarm spiritual life" which you say is a red flag does not make you less holy.

Do not enter a marriage with intent to change your fiance. Be sure his weakness is something you can live with in comparison to his strengths knowing no one out there is perfect, and neither are you.

You mentioned you didn't pray about him.
I presume you must have done that now.
My question is do you always get an answer when you pray concerning matters?
What answer have you gotten from your prayers concerning him?

Though some have claimed God does not interfere in the prayers of marriage since Adam blamed his fall on the wife God chose for him. That's just an opinion though.

Since it is God who decides who is to be saved.

When you have opposing view in bible study, one or two of both of these things are happening.

I think you need to understand the concept of perspectives more before you draw such conclusions.
Two opposing views could actually be right depending on the perspective.

I actually was addressing the issue of Trinity and not Angels which explains the verses I quoted.

I also think you need to learn to unbox God even from a biblical perspective. This was the error of the Pharisees and Jews. They also concluded that God could never go out of what the Law and Prophets taught them. Hence they ended up not accepting Jesus as even the Son of God but even went as far as crucifying their Lord.

God is God because he's Omni-everything.

So it's very possible you're seeing God from one perspective while another is seeing him from another. Both of you being right.

The only issue CAN, PFN and other pastors had against TB Joshua was simply his miracles. Which they claimed was not from God, perhaps to save face for their own lack of miracles. Perhaps they were right but we'll never know since they had no evidence.

When i was a Muslim i used to read the Bible but do you know my intention back then?
Well it was to find contradicting verses so i can have something say when arguing with the Christians, then i came into a verse that put me in a tight spot: Matthew 26:52 here Jesus condemned the use of weapons which means if everyone truly believe in Jesus there will be no more wars!
So i began searching for the group that's keeping this verse, do you notice that i've advanced from just reading to find contradicting verses to another stage?
Then i discovered that there are so much contradicting teachings and conflicting doctrines even in the midst of those claiming Christians but i never allowed that to stop me from progressing, i believe i'll find Jesus' true followers who are keeping this verse one day.
Moreover i was a soldier and i know the evil consequences of wars in the human society so i'm not ready to let go until i found Jesus' true followers who are lovers of peace!
Today i'm no more a weapon carrier and i'm also teaching others to think of other ways to resolve issues amicably without the use of weapons!
That's what i meant by level of understanding, you too can make progress instead of arguing always about the seeming contradictions caused by trinitarian translaors!

It is rather ignorant to say God cannot be referred to as Guarantor.

Although to be more scripturally balanced,it is Christ who is our Guarantor before God.

The idea of Christianity stands on Jesus Christ standing as Guarantor to every believer.

God no longer sees the sinner but sees the Christ he has placed his faith in.

It is difficult to determine who is a Christian or not especially in this age of false teachers.

Because you could find a false teacher/prophet who has the gifts of the Spirit but lacking the Character (fruit) of the Spirit.

You could find a growing Christian who still yet lacks the fruit of the Spirit but growing.

You could also find those who are called Tares and were intentionally planted by the devil to make others fall in the church.

So who gave him the authority to define what a mother is? ..your mother ask to see you, go and see her and find out why she wants to...not saying rubbish...

Does that mean that a Pastor should not preach on Sabath or a Prophet should not prophesy on Sabath?
Like I said they only sought to accuse him,which was why they accused him of working when all he did was heal the sick.

As a Preacher, should he have left his preaching to attend to his mother and siblings or should he complete his preaching first and go and attend to his mother and siblings?

The bible simply says he corrected those who summoned him that it is those who hear his teachings and practise them that are his mother and brothers. Luke 8:21

I am not a christian, never claimed to be one because I do certain things Jesus never did! But I respect christians and avoid those bringing shame to what Christ represents

If I may ask, a new convert to Christianity who has repented and accepted Jesus Christ as his saviour, is he a Christian or not?
