Compare these Ghanaian Universities https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jA4SdL3axg0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPu5srq_UKg And a Federal Nigerian university, University of Uyo, situated in an oil rich state, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2g3innt5o8&t=53s The difference is clear. The Nigerian government hasnt prioritized education and because of their neglect, the buildings are dilapidated. |
Alex Kelly of Connecticut was found guilty of rape back in the 80's. Just before he was to go on trial, he escaped and spent seven years on the lam evading the law. He only surrendered in Switzerland when his parents who were financially supporting him though according to news reports were not aware of his location, were charged with obstruction. Thereafter, he was extradited to the US and subsequently imprisoned. Here, we have parents who knowingly connived in obstructing justice until they were charged that the son gave up and faced the music for his past misdeeds. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Kelly_(rapist) Now, do you support the governor of Lagos decision to convict parents whose children are cultist on Nigerian campus? There are parents who have absolutely no clue that their wards in college belong to cults and are usually devastated when their children are arrested and imprisoned. Should such parents also face the wrath of the law as well? |
Please why is there hope for Nigeria because this topic I asked in 2013 made the front page of Nairaland? Moreso, what's the big deal if one's topic makes the frontpage or not? bennybuhari: |
The mother of the notorious armed robber, Lawrence Anini, narrated to journalists the inhumane torture she endured by the policemen because of her son's atrocities probably to coerce her into revealing his whereabouts. Now, was it her fault that her son became a robber that she should be tortured? |
In Ibibioland, we call it "mkpantuk." The question, What is the miracle berry’s unique ability" was posed on Quiz Daily. And the answer is "It makes everything sweet." Below is more information on the "miracle berry." "The miracle berry (scientific name: Synsepalum dulcificum) from West Africa contains a protein that alters taste buds. By attaching to the tongue’s sweet receptors, the brain perceives sour flavors as sweet. The effect is brief, lasting about an hour, but the miracle berry has inspired the idea of “flavor-tripping” as diners experiment with combinations of unique tastes." https://www.travelquiz.com/quiz/62387bdbd914a800079d0fc6?utm_source=daily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=622c1402dcdb2e6f413e4256 |
I had several Iranian colleagues at work and the lady used to wax nostalgically about life in Iran during the era of the Shah. |
Not just in Nigeria but even here in the US. Please read this article about Obama appointing his political donors as Ambassadors. https://www.politico.com/story/2009/11/obama-rewards-donors-with-plum-jobs-029699 spydera: |
Lilian Onoh, former Nigerian Ambassador to Namibia is embroiled in a corruption scandal that has pitted her against Geoffrey Onyeama, Nigeria's foreign Minister, who is the former husband of her senior sister Nuzo. There are two conflicting reports as detailed here, https://www.informationng.com/2021/09/nigerias-foreign-minister-onyeama-accused-of-treason-sabotage-documents.html (Lilian Onoh's claim) "Geoffrey Onyeama, Nigeria’s foreign minister, has been accused of treason and sabotaging Nigerians in the diaspora by a former Ambassador to Namibia, Lilian Onoh — in a petition to President Muhammadu Buhari. The former Ambassador accused Onyeama of treason and sabotage, a serious accusation that must be investigated, especially because the Ambassador didn’t write anonymously but also gave evidence of Onyeama’s actions which she experienced while representing Nigeria in Namibia ". . . The rebuttal, courtesy of Sahara Reports. . . ."Onoh was accused of illegal diversion of funds meant for the day-to-day operation of the mission and was asked to refund the sum of $45,539.11 (about N19 million), $70,448 (about N30 million), and N614,000. This was part of the recommendation of the seven-man committee headed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Gabriel Aduda. . . I remember all these characters. I miss these books, where can one purchase them? olusoladivine1: |
Comparison is way off base. They were not slacking off during a robbery expedition so comparing their attitude to that of a doctor goofing off instead of operating a patient is a wrong analogy. crossfm: |

I would discourage anybody from traveling abroad only if they have a cushy job back home. Otherwise, come over. I have a friend whom I encouraged to migrate to Canada but he is not interested. He says he doesnt want to disrupt his already stable life in Nigeria to start hustling abroad at his age. |
Water is also sold in Nigeria be it pure water or bore-hole water or water from the well. People pay money to buy them. Even in America, people pay utility bills to gain access to water otherwise their supplies gets disconnected. Please dont make that an issue. illicit: |
Hallelujah!!! This is very good news and a relief to the boy's parents in particular. |
I dont believe them. For years now, the government has been saying that the Calabar Itu road will be rehabilitated but the pictures have discounted their stories. So how are we supposed to believe them this time around? |
You make the decision to call your sister in-law Aunty or sister not another person. It is not a matter of picking your battles, it is a matter of you making your own decisions in life instead of being at the beck and bend of others. To call your sister in-law, who is younger than you, "Aunty" is a no-no. She is not your mate age-wise. |
