Business › Re: Exchange Rate Post Biggest Ever Gain, Closing At ₦742/$1 On I&E Window by nedekid: 7:19pm On Jul 19, 2023 |
DomPerignon: FG should begin recalling most of the currency in circulation printed from thin air by Emefile through this Forex window.
This how the FG can utilize the Forex to remove excess liquidity from circulation and drive down inflation.
The only people betting against the naira are Buhari looters who , without Emefile's protection, are now moving their loot through the Forex window .
No genuine business will bid so high for Forex in such a challenging economy. What do they want to import that they are desperate to bid so high for Forex?
In a few months, if the FG compels the CBN to withdraw all excess liquidity from funds raised through the FX open window bidding, the naira will regain to about 350-400 to a dollar. Oga, I predicted naira will fall against the dollar despite subsidy removal and other moves after Emefiele left. The reason is that all the warehoused funds kept by politicians for the last elections, but could not be spent due to the cbn new naira policy will now flood the forex market. A prominent politician was alleged to have over 150b, some governors, 30,50,70b etc all in cash. Obviously, those monies will now be changed to fx for easy handling, for export etc. Funny enough, this administration has lifted the cap on domiciliary transaction, it even makes it easier for the money "warehousers" to change and keep some in their dom acct. As you said also looters from the old admin are also doing theirs. |

DeadCountry: Mad man. You are doing one nigeria when those you are doing it with are only interested in regional and hate politics. You call Peter Obi a mad man? Politics aside, can you see someone like Obi and have the "moral" or guts to refer to him as mad? Even Tinubu cannot call Peter Obi a mad man. What are your personal achievements to call a billionaire, majority owner of one on the biggest banks in Nigeria, chairman of several bluechip companies, a former 2 time governor, former chairman of Nigeria security and exchange commision etc a mad man? I agree with you someone is mad in this instance, it certainly is not Obi. Look at the mirror. |

The proper display of the custom during their traditional weddings is to appear unhappy as long as possible until she's satisfied with the money showered on her.
When she's satisfied, she will smile.
That's a very happy bride whose husband will be drunk with her pvssy juice during honeymoon.

Ijaya123: President Tinubu has no control over the price of fuel. Those days are gone FOREVER. Market forces now control the price of petrol. So, the pressure should not be on the President over the cost of fuel. Let the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria deal with that.
What we should pressure the President on is the minimum wage. The current minimum wage of ₦30,000 is grossly inadequate when compared to the current cost of living in Nigeria. President Tinubu calls himself Asiwaju, meaning the progressive that leads the way.
It is not very Asiwaju-like when Governors are unilaterally increasing salaries to help workers cope with the rising cost of living, and Asiwaju Tinubu has not led the way. Nigeria's minimum wage should be increased to at least ₦75,000. And President Tinubu must lead the way in facilitating that. Or he will soon lose the huge support base he started off with on May 29, 2023.
Reno Omokri has said it all. Make minimum wage 200k, it will only cause more inflation. Fuel will become 5k per liter, naira will loose more value and become like Venezuela or Zimbabwe currency. |

If you possible, grab what you can and japa. That is the reality on ground. A 60 year old man was telling me he is processing his masters in UK to japa. Diligent1: Nigeria is buying dollars to import these petroleum products which devalue our Naira, our custom officers should braised up and stop the smuggling of these petroleum products to other countries because it is affecting our Naira.
These other countries should also buy dollars to import their petroleum products, Nigerians are suffering. Customs officers are also Nigerians that have families to feed. They also buy fuel, foods stuff, pay school fees etc. The issue is affecting them too as their income can no longer sustain them. Do you then expect them to stop the outflow of petrol when they will make money by allowing it pass through? Most likely, they are the barons sef. |

A very celebral piece. It is glaring to the blind that there was heavy inconsistency, open and not hidden rigging, almost never seen impunity, voters intimidation in the last elections. First time ever a president is crowned with roughly about 12% of votes casted. Howwww , where in the world has that happened in the last 10 years worldwide? Anyway, as the politicians and interest groups say, let us leave it and move ahead for peace to reign. I think so too, but will this stop? Anyway, guess this one is "too much" for Electoral monitors and aid donors to overlook. Some will say the EU, US etc I indulge in our affairs, well, others will argue that the current political party and president did not see is that way when they had those same EU etc put pressure on the then GEJ administration. Buhari won by 53% of votes casted, compared to the current 12% of the current president! Anyway, if there is pressure on the judiciary, we do not know. Afterall, na travel ban or asset freeze. Bottomline, must they travel? Most deny they even have assets abroad in their icpc or code of conduct filings. So what is the big deal? Well, we know nothing pains a big man more than not being able to enter first class or private jet to go abroad to "rest" or visit their personal doctors, I'd rather say to shop on the highend shops, the Harrods, slaks 5th Avenues etc. Places regular middleclass Nigerians (seeing poverty ahead, no future have all ran to, becoming healthcare workers, drivers, cleaners etc) will never have the capacity to shop in. Finally, let the judiciary do what is right before man, God and finally their conscience. We must accept their decision and end the matter, either it favors your candidate or not. |

Ashirioluwa: Honestly, I don’t know how a man can manage 25k with the current situation in this country.
I know some people will accept such a salary because they are tired of sitting at home and are desperately looking for jobs, and some of the so-called employers are slave masters who capitalize on the unemployment situation in the country by offering employees unlivable wages.
Most of these slave masters who call themselves employers are also not willing to pay more than what they already have in their heads. Some will even be happy if you offer to work for them for free. Oga, I do not think anyone will have a thriving business and decide to pay pittance, unless as you say, they are slave masters. Eg, imagine a school charging 20k school fees in some downtown area. People cannot afford to pay any more and even struggling to pay the 20k fees. How then will the owner of the school afford to pay a teacher any more than 25k monthly? Let me use my bar for example. For certain reasons, eg, no more parking spa ce, there was heavy decline in sales, yet expenses kept running as usual. The tax people, local gov people, Nepa, generator fueling etc, yet I kept the place open for over 1 year, paying salaries, running expenses from my personal pocket or my other businesses. Eventually, I did accounts after 2 months and found a huge shortage. At the same time heavy rain damaged the roof. Omo, I fixed the roof and lockedup the place. You cannot imagine the relieve I have felt. Unfortunately, those workers are now on the street. Point is, so many businesses are struggling right now, anywhere someone finds to put his head, survive, make contacts, you never know where it leads. Better than sitting idle doing nothing. |
