Politics › Re: Is Government A Savings Account? Oshiomhole Challenges Peter Obi by nedekid: 12:08pm On Jan 24, 2023
SLAP44:
Yes, government is a savings account.

When you have paid all salaries, built all local roads, ensured there is security, built industries, paid pensioners, paid contractors and built other infrastructure, you have to save the rest for the future of the state.

The problem we have in Nigeria is that civil servants like Oshomhole, Buharri, Atiku, Tinubu and Kwankwaso has been in power and they have never studied the course called profitability in any organisation, they regard government as a money dispensing machine and so they keep spending till we go bankrupt, then they start borrowing since they don't know anything about businesses.

Peter Obi is a trader, a businessman and an investor, he can use this skill to save and invest excess resources for Nigeria so that we can use this excess to build more infrastructure and also to provide stability for the distant future. This savings will provide the industry that will employ our teeming youths and curb insecurity.

Nigeria needs Peter Obi more than Peter Obi needs Nigeria. Vote for Peter Oluwadare Obi ❤
Well said.
But how can they understand? See the PDP bot chair that blew 1.4b on accommodation for a handful of bot members. ₦1.4b ohh. Not 1.4m.
That is how all these regular politicians are. Money is paper to them. Someone that has not turned ₦100 to 1000, you then give him 10b to manage. No be juju be that?

The fears you raised are his fears exactly but this is no good for a Nigerian leader. You have to put the nation's interest first.
Soludo had his local government secretariat razed. Hope Uzodinma had his house burnt.
If he becomes president and he pets IPOB, that is bad precedence. That could lead to a coup.
While I disagree with ipob and Kanu, I don't even think the violence going on there has to do with them.
I think it is a dark force of criminality. Murderers. I heard a local gov chairman was beheaded and they even declared the governor next. Politicians have to be careful. You want to serve not die, expecially in obi's case.
Ipob, oduduwa agitators, the arewa group, mayetti, etc, have your heard any politician come out directly to conderm them. Heck buhari said an attack on Boko harm was one on the north. Atiku removed the post condemning the killing of the christain lady when he saw it could come hot on him. Tinubu asked where are the cows when that babas daughter was killed. Fulani from all over Africa held a worldwide confrence in Abuja last year, delegates from all over Africa were there, danbazawu and other high officials from the presidency were there dressed in full Fulani regalia despite all the killing in Benue, the kidnapping etc of Nigerians!
To then expect Obi to single out himself to will be too much.
The character Kanu, head of ipob has openly dissociated himself and his group from the violence in the east.
As Obi said, he will talk to agitators. Sort out grievances. Where that does not work, then use powers of the state to deal with them. I think that is good enough for now.
Thanks for your thoughts though.

Politics › Re: Lagos Was A Super Slum Until Tinubu Became Governor - Shettima (Video) by nedekid: 7:46am On Jan 24, 2023
delpee:
Story! That's for those who didn't reside in Lagos before 1999. The most annoying thing is that we had water flowing from taps at home and public taps on the streets before then. All the mini waterworks built by Jakande seem to be non functional now. It's either boreholes or mairuwa all the way.

Ikeja, Ilupeju etc and all the industrial estates were built in the era of Awolowo. The former Western Region started from Fadeyi on Ikorodu Road. The seat of government was on the Island extending only to Yaba and Surulere. Lagos had decent places to live in not slums.

Lekki exists today because Jakande built the road to Epe which was hitherto only accessible through Ikorodu/Ijebu axis. Most of the major institutions and agencies were built by LKJ apart from his truly low cost housing and masses oriented transportation system.
My Bros, I weak. We that were born in aguda, Surulere in the early 70s, We are shocked to hear we lived in a slum before 1999. You forgot to mention the iganmu industrial estate too.
We that use to shop in utc, leventis and the rest. Had lstc busses. In public schools text books, note books were provided along with free school fees? I truelly wonder because the major thing I will say this man did was to partition all the roads ie Allen Avenue, bode Thomas, etc. Set up lastma and other paramilitary. Revenue wise, he weakened the state revenue service and imposed his coded private one to amass wealth. Fashola, especially Ambode did exceedingly better, so is the current governor.
I think that baba is just overrated. For this Boko Haram fellow to be spitting rubbish is just outrageous.

I had a girlfriend back then in school. She was the only one I was having sex with. She looked so decent and calm. Always loving and avoiding trouble but she was a sex machine. Always ready anytime I ask she can rush down and collect any number of rounds multiple times even if it meant 10 times daily she would open up for me.

I loved everything about her and felt at home, no need cheating, I was looking forward to forever but I travelled for 2wks then came back and we had sex.

After that sex i couldn't pee again, started having those funny discharge and quickly went for test and it was Gono.

I was like from where kwa, I have only touched one lady and even the lady doesn't go out, always indoor and looks innocent.

My people, I confronted her ooo and she opened up that she couldn't hold herself for that two weeks and met a guy to bang her.

I even discovered that this babe no day passes by without her receiving dick. She is so addicted to sex that even after going 3 rounds with her she still goes outside that same day for 2 other guys to collect more rounds.

I could touch her twice a week and rest but she was meeting other guys to complete the week for her.

So innocent, calm, homely and peaceful. I got run for my life and left her to go fix her sex issue before I carry HIV.

The Igbo regions have been burning because of this agitation. And this man has consistently refused to denounce the killers. Is this the kind of weak man as a president you want?
So you expect him to come out with open chest and proclaim openly what you want to hear. You think he is suicidal? Have you forgotten he has a life, family and property over there? He owns majority shares in banks especially fidelity bank of which branches could be targeted and attacked, destroying people's livelihood. His home could be burnt, he could be personally targeted to.
We should be considerate and not pressure someone to his doom. Afterall, what he wishes to do is to serve Nigeria not to kill himself. If his ambition does not work out, it is not a do or die affair. He returns to his business or moves abroad.

You speak about morality yet you make a post filled with lies. The decay in our public universities comes from poor funding, terrible infrastructure, poor lecturers and terrible lecture theaters

While there’s some positives to be found from curbing some excesses, it’s beyond daft to insist students cannot wear unbuttoned jackets or that rolling of sleeves is a bad thing.
Ok.

I went to UI recently and I saw university students wearing beach slides to classroom!!! The girls too were not left out of the slippers game. Can you imagine hundreds of dirty feet and how unsightly that look. My sister who was a former Queenite cannot believe her eyes that students can wear slippers around faculty social sciences which was famed for the top-notch fashion game in her time.
My brother, it is disheartening. Supprisenly, UI is the university I attended. I hear it is not like those days. Just imagine students wearing slippers!
Trying to fill jamb form for one of my daughters, thought of putting UI as it will be cheaper for me, but when I think of her going to that place from all I hear, fear grips me. Meanwhile private uni for the course she wants is almost 5m per session! Meanwhile I already have one there already. If these public schools had not decayed so much, will we be paying school fees though our nose?
Sanity has to be brought back!

If the students comply then I will suggest their is no more needs of having student union government or NANS.

I am not against proper dressing in our higher institutions of learning but I think their should be some level of freedom for the students, they are adults How can they barn even just putting on a baggy when those making the barn equally wore it during their time as student?

All these pretentious attitudes of our leaders is sickening.
Student must dress decently. If it means they have to inspect them at the main gate. Their hair must be properly cut. Universities are places of learning first and foremost. Infact student should not be allowed to bring cars on campus. The most allowed should be bicycles.
The decay in public universities is just too much.
When we went to university 33 years ago it was not this bad. Infact most parents now fear sending their wards to public universities, if the could afford it they will go private.

Last week Friday I woke up and discovered a discharge from My penis. I was scared, so I ran to the toilet to pee. After some seconds a clear watery discharge started coming out again..

I went straight to Google and started searching for the symptoms of gonorrhea, and I found out I am having one of the symptoms. But I am not having painful urination or swollen testicles or any sore around my dick..

I guess it UTI.. I have started taking injections and the clear discharge has minimized. And again my pee is now white unlike few days ago. I have spent over 10k..

I have learnt my lessons. Pls anyone with a similar experience can still advice me further..

Pardon me for not reading the whole writeup.
The subsidy should be removed! If it likes let it be 1k per liter. Not one kobo of subsidy shoukd be paid as it it a huge scam used to milk the country.
My question is that, does it make sense that Nnpc is the only one allowed to import petrol? Does that make sense? What has government got to do with fuel importation? Why must this country be run thus way for goodness sake!
Pat utomi spoke of why he chose to support one of the candidates. That as a businessman, banker, trader etc, what the fellow possibly will do is allow anybody, be you trader, banker, oil company, importer and exporter etc to import fuel once you can finance yourself. All government will do is regulate the quality. Eg premium unleaded, to the cheaper quality. Afterall you averagely have 3 options of fuel with different prices in fuel stations abroad.
Competition will bring down the prices over time. It will also encourage businessmen to invest money in local capacity. Some will invest in modular refinaries. Eg an area such as akowonjo, Ikeja could have its portable modular refinary with crude brought in by rail through Agege train station, piped or trucked to the refinary or have it built close to the rail. Another could by by guiness road oba akran near the rail where factories have turned to churches or even abandoned etc.
Dangote refinary will also join the fray, but should not cause another monopoly. He will compete with others including importers and local smaller refinaries. If you are not competitive, you go out if business, Afterall that is why you are privately owned.

Is Dangote refinery govt owned? Should a country of 200 million people depend on a private refinery for her petroleum products? Is it right? Has the govt finished solving health care, education and hunger problems in the Country? As simple as those, they've been unable to fix it but you expect them to manufacture air crafts. Abeg carry your mumu far from here abeg.
Dont mind the mumu man, aka "Mr use your brain".
Indomi generation kids that know nothing.
Way back babangidas time dornier aviation assembled the air beetle. I think they also assembled the dornier 228, 19 passenger aircraft.
Serika, Mr Air Nigeria has been known to exaggerate things. In this case, they order kit trainer aircraft from hungry. They cannot be brought in fully assembled for obvious reasons as they are kits. If I buy one today, I will have to assemble it at home or pay someone to. That is why it is cheap to buy.
So Nigeria buy the kit and trains it staff to assemble it or sets up a company as a contractor (paddy paddy arrangement) to assemble them.
