daddytime:Because it makes good business sense. |
MhizMuna:Good for her... Cuppy going places. Global Citizen annually gets to ring the bell to celebrate the launch of Global Citizen Week - capped by a music festival to bring minds together to "take action on the world's biggest issues". Florence is a Global Citizen Education Ambassador and had the honor of ringing that bell today. Previously we saw French Montana, Naomi Campbell, and others get that honor. While people are busy hating on her because of her background, they forget that she too is walking through those doors and bringing something of value to the various organizations and causes she is part of. She is using her background to make a name for herself, and that spirit tells me she would have been successful no matter what. Work hard so you can open doors for your children too. Hatorade is not good for the soul. BTW OP (MhizMuna), I just wanted to point out that she's not the first Nigerian... several have done so, and most recently to my recollection is Jumia's CEO, Juliet Anammah, earlier this year in April. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJQqLGFbcCw |
Wow.. the profit on these phones is incredible. Apple makes their 80% markup. Then resellers in Naija make their own. The 64GB Max retails for $1100, and somebody is selling it for 600k ($1700). At this rate, one needs only to spend $2000 for travel and lodging to US, buy a bunch of iPhones and make nearly 140k ($400) profit per unit selling it in Nigeria. 10 units can net you a million? Is my math right? |
Question: "Nigeria has a very young population... can you highlight a pathway for resilient future?" Answer: "Climate change is a human induced phenomenon. It's imperative we should step up our climate actions..." One of the world's oldest leaders appears disconnected from of the world's youngest population. Don't forget that he and his cohorts were barely out of their 30s when they started leading. It's now I really understand that Buhari is not our president... it's the duo of Kyari and Daura who really run the country and make decisions. Buhari has always been figurehead (even during the time of Idiagbon). He has not been able to articulate anything useful, but like a puppet, will repeat the words "corruption" because it's what guaranteed to get people's attention. 2023 cannot come soon enough... pray my people will not again vote for another ancestor with no real love for country, nor energy for service, nor vision for a brighter future. We will soon run out of leaders born pre-independence. |
F9 for FFK. I have used the paper you used to write exam for my bird cage. Sowore is free to make his decision, and I'm free to hold the grudge. Common 2 million votes he could not summon, after insulting people up and down. |
Alphas have been alphas, betas have been betas, and they've been making babies for millions of years now. Those who don't because of analysis paralysis will be removed from the gene pool. |
No, OP, this is not beautiful. Even allowing for the fact that many Ghanian societies were matrilineal, there are things a man does, and things a woman does. When people (including feminists) conflate "equality" with "equivalent"... Later, this woman might be complaining how she's the breadwinner and loses respect for her guy... technuel:Very well put. Talk anyhow she raise go raise am ![]() I want to hear isokoboy's opinion on this |
By holding up the hands of an accused embezzler during elections, right? The funny thing is oyinbo knows, they have intelligence on ground... but they will just smile and clap for him as long as he serves their interests. |
See my spec... I actually know small sign language from my cousin back in the day. Nooneonline:Heh heh, drama dey oh. It's just much harder since she can't express herself as well using the words you know, but don't go thinking you won't have argument. Troublesome people are troublesome; sweet people are sweet; whether deaf or hearing.
|
I imagine Tacha is much brighter than most of us: 1 - A woman seeks attention by exposing flesh. 2 - People give her that attention by commenting on the exposed flesh. 3 - Either way they argue (for or against), she wins in her objective. |
"Has been ordered to be freed" is very different from "has been released", especially when Buhari is involved ![]() Is he a free man true true? |
smithsammy:We're not less-informed, just cynical of a government's foray into 21st century technologies when it hasn't successfully solved 19th century problems. As in running water and electricity distribution were mostly satisfactory in developed countries by late 1800s. Heck, even the Romans had figured out running water to all fountains and baths in the cities. See, nothing is wrong with having ambitions and keeping up, but to continue to do things with the same haphazard commitment is just a waste of everybody's time. ALL of the equipment and most of the software will be imported, without any thought of how to make them internally (as in no support for local industries in terms of cheap, guaranteed loan; and they may decide to raise tariffs for it, like they did with solar equipment). Contracts for buildings with be made (and eaten), the bare minimum equipment will be acquired, and the few intelligent people hired will be frustrated. Instead of that dog and pony show, put the money into solving water. That alone adds value to GDP now that aren't wasting time fetching and worrying about water supply. There are several nice papers illustrating the relationship clean water and economic growth: google "clean water and gdp growth" |
spyglaxx:It's state funded, one of the institutes of NASENI (National Agency for Science and Engineering) https://naseni.org Vision: “To create an enabling knowledge driven environment for local mass production of standard parts, goods and services required for the nation’s technology advancement”. It's a bold vision, but hampered by our government's lack of belief in itself. |
I once visited ELDI (Electronics Development Institute) in Awka. http://eldi.org.ng Highly motivated director, smart engineers, and they are trying. But the agency is woefully underfunded; most of the high-tech equipment uninstalled and rusting away. In spite of it, they are inventing all kinds of things right here in Anambra (solar street light, inverter, transformer). I'm an engineer so I mean when I say invent. It won't take up to 50million to make this a world-class agency that can partner with private sector to market their products widely. Yet even this promising agency isn't given the resources to blossom. Another agency is being formed - instead of fully funding the ones we have. Why? It's like laying foundation for 10 houses but never raising the walls for any of them. |
Buhari should have been doing this in North since 2015 to stem the deforestation that's causing his herders to fight with farmers. But this one is so funny to me: “We will take concrete steps to harness climate innovative ideas by including youths in decision making processes as part of our over-all climate governance architecture." In a cabinet where the average age exceeds 50 years? General Double-speak. Weh done sah. |
It's funny how the adage about boiling frogs by slowing raising the heat... really applies to us in Naija. Here are some highlights from when Buhari was campaigning... Is #216 to $1 Okay? - It's now #350 or so, after nearly reaching #500 at one point. Electricity on a 24/7 basis - I don't have to even debate this one. Corruption stamped out - yes indeed... jagaban, grass cutter, and one governor whose hand was raised high by PMB. One meal a day - eye roll Out of work? Try "CHANGE". 740,000 immediate jobs - yet we have more people out of work. Fuel was N87... poeple are not making noise now that it's #145... Office of First Lady is still there. Subsidy is still there Same number of jets still in place. Not a single promise kept. Not one. In other news, I'm liking this new font and look on Nairaland (not that Helvetica-looking nonsense this past weekend). Maybe we'll get a bit of respite from all those complaining that Nairaland's look is so last decade. |
Instead of admiring her shape, I feel somehow put off... I saw this chick pushing car in one of Broda Shaggi's skits, and I was even afraid the waist will break. This is an honest question oh: can this lady bear children? I mean, is there space in the pelvic area? Did she do operation or was she born like that? I'm answering my own question: apparently she did operation to remove 5 ribs.... well to each their own. |
Anybody is free to look at you. You may look familiar; you may have food in your teet; your shirt looks nice and she wants to get one for her boyfriend. For all you know they have other things on their minds and are actually staring through you. If you feel a girl's look is an invitation to approach, it's still up to the guy to use wisdom in approaching. Nobody want to be seen as desperate or easy, so don't start talking and acting as if you already won her approval. That itself is a turn off. In fact, I recommend approaching whoever catches your interest, whether or not she's glancing, looking, staring, or not even aware of your presence. Just be friendly and general, not getting into the "I know you like me vibe" until later. The same is in marketing: how do you feel when a vendor is just pushing their wares, vs. the ones who entice you to think that what they are selling is the best thing in the world. |
pickatyou:There are medical/scientific reasons for why two A.S. people should not marry (producing an SS child). I fail to see any such consequences for the discussion at hand. |
Christopherrrr:"She gives me joy, she gives me happiness, she prays for me, she blesses me." What else do you want in a wife? You have all the main ingredients for a happily-married life? The caste system has been officially abolished. Inform your parents that you will proceed to marry this girl. I know your parents will try to force your hand, and use expressions like "marriage is more about families than the individual", "respect for tradition and your elders", but let me say this: the people who started the Osu system, they were humans just like you, and they had their own reasons. You too have your own reasons to help remove that system. OP, men have disagreed with their families over many things in the past - you won't be the first nor the last. This also won't be be the last thing they will want to do their own way, so you need to stand up. Don't be afraid. You are a man. Anybody will be angry with you for not following their decisions (whether it's what type of soup to eat, where to build your house, what to name your child, which woman to marry, your career choice). They are trying to impose their views so they they look good to their relatives and friends. If they force you to give her up, they might end up making you embittered, and who knows tomorrow? |
Do we have a database that verifies that the IDs being carried are genuine and belong to the holder? In this country where IDs can be issued sight unseen, anybody can produce ID in an afternoon for 10k or less. Well, until the higher-ups are brought to book, all this "positive ID" is just an exercise in time wasting. |
Eya... O goro afia without receipt. He really should have thought about GEJ's message. But I guess he and his team were too busy working with the Ford Foundation (and indirectly the CIA) to oust the Jonathan administration (as payback for not backing their agenda). Well, take heart... there is usually presidency after a few years in jail ![]()

ednut1:If the events center, opkanam road (among many), and the airport count as nothing... I don't know what to say. Delta state is blossoming... yes there's poverty and not enough jobs, but we can't say we're at the same place 12 year ago. The governor is trying... we can't say we're entirely happy with him, but we have to be honest and admit there are things moving. |
adebuk47:Please take it back. If there's one actress who cannot be called a hoe, it's Omotola. I no day carry mata for head, just like accuracies.
Finest. Omotee, one of the Nollywood actress we respect BIG TIME. GOD bless your beautiful family.
Agreed. May we be blessed with women like Omotola. |
BUSHHUNTER:It's funny, but please, in the name of national unity, also add crimes from SW, SS, and SE. I'm from SS and we no fit carry last for bad things in Nigeria lai lai. Abeg add our own join ![]() |
The DPO said he will "monitor it to ensure it is judiciously and prudently used"... but forgot to add "for a management fee of 10% monthly". What hoodlums could not take from her, either her family or the DPO will. No be Naija we dey? |
And Mama P - allegedly guilty of stealing from nearly 200 million Nigerians - is still walking free abi? |
Badonasty:Fully loaded tankers with bad breaks and unmaintained engines going uphill... nothing diabolical, just stupid. |
Seriously OP, why are you asking us? The only way to know is to get tested, 2-4 weeks after you think you might have been infected. The best we can do is speculate - some of the opinions may make you feel good, some may make you feel bad, but they are just that - opinions. People say the virus does not survive for long outside the body, yet it can be transferred during blood transfusion from an IV bag. That said, it appears taking Antri-retrovirals is a good precaution, according to https://www.cdc.gov/hiv/basics/pep.html but please go get tested. |
No little irony in seeing all the trash floating in the flood... imagine how much more trash is clogging the drainage. When people drop trash like a bird shitting, why won't the place be flooded? The people government pays to clear the drains, where do they put the dirt? Right next to the drain they just cleared. Sometimes we need to stop blaming government. |
GOFRONT:Er... that pvssy has made money for several companies, and brought satisfaction (in-person or telegraphically) to thousands of people ![]() RIP to her. We all have to go someday, but cardiac arrest so young is something we don't pray for. |
