Colourich:It's policy makers that decide: - do we want a building economy or consuming one - how to structure loan/investment opportunities for startups - industrial zones, where energy is cheap, and transportation is robust - how educated the workforce is, and how to make them efficient - the ease of getting materials - import/export policy that has 0 tariffs/tax on industrial inputs (like LCDs which we don't make yet) Policy makers don't make smartphones, but without them laying the groundwork, engineers can't. |
RevenGeMission:You're right, Rome was not built in a day, but in those 32 years, surely one would have seen signs of progress. We are not seeing any signs that we are moving forwards, so 32 years from now, we will still be looking for clean drinking water. |
maryjames9:Quite right... and they want you to spend money on the most frivolous things... after I've worked and sweated, you want me to just dash you 10k for one bag and shoe. Then you would hear "ordinary 10k is making you shake?" If it's so ordinary, go and make your own and stop disturbing my life ![]() |
And you never hear self-made ladies complaining about needing money... it's only the broke ones trying to find a sponsor. Ladies, it's 2018, equal rights and opportunities, and all that. Use your brains, find or make good work, take care of your own damn selves, and stop being a dependent. If a woman loves money, and it's her own money, then why would men complain? |
All this effort put into cheating... if only they'd spent half as much time and effort on trying to understand the material... ![]() |
Toluhwanie: ![]() that's the kind of pose that reminds me why Samson cut his hair... Chopable portable... if only wishes were horses... |
I like this. We should be chanting every day. Enough of Mr. Suffahead. |
Mama is smiling now, but we know slippers and belt is waiting for our girl once the camera is off ![]() Me sef will flog am join... How will small girl disappear and be giving us heartache? We were thinking she'd been kidnapped. I will wipe that sheepish smile off her face if I was her dad. |
This is obviously rubbish, as SW is thinking their slot is 2023, if PMB should win, and most people will agree, arguing that SS and SE are the same (they are wrong, but that's the perception) |
myk2mic:There is no ban on bleaching cream either in USA or in Nigeria. That said, there might be a regulation on the sale of beauty products in that a particular brand might require NAFDAC approval before it is sold (I doubt that very much, since they're mostly concerned with food and drugs). So if bleaching cream is sold daily in Nigeria, why all the fuss when somebody else starts to sell it? We can complain about the side effects, but until there is enough outcry/study to warrant its ban, it's perfectly legal to sell. |
safarigirl:Very insightful. We need more melanin popping in our celebrities' videos, promos, even dating life. |
Houseofglam7:Yes na, because bleaching has being reigning since the time of Fela's "Yellow Fever" in the mid-70's. If there's a willing market, well, there are willing sellers. The long-term effects of bleaching may include skin cancer, but what does that matter as long as ladies can touche up today? ![]() |
Uwaomaokey:Car was stolen in SW, which they then drove to Edo to make their sale. Thieves apprehended in Edo, chopping suya and olosho from the gains. They told police where to find the car. Car recovered in Abia, where the buyer wanted to pieces it. |
The same day when songs about money, sex, drugs, guns stop reigning in the US. But going further, birds tweet about sex; frogs croak about sex; roosters crow about sex. It's nature, so please calm down ![]() Here's a short selection from 70's, 80's, 90's spanning Rock, Pop, Grunge, Soul: "Rock with you" - MJJ "Ring my Bell" - Anita word "Pour Some Sugar on Me" - Def Leopard "Do me" - BBD "Bump N' Grind" - R. Kelly "Heart-Shaped Box" - Nirvana "Love come Down" - Evelyn Champagne King "Let's Get it On" - Marvin Gaye "Use Me" - Bill Withers "Brown Sugar" - The Rolling Stones "The Lemon Song" - Led Zeppelin "Light My Fire" - The Doors "You Shook Me All Night Long" - AC/DC "I'm Your Baby Tonight" - Whitney Houston "Secret Garden" - Quincy Jones and for some from 50's: "60 Minute Man" - The Dominoes "Mother Fuyer" - Dirty Red "Let Me Bang Your Box" - The Toppers "I Like My Baby's Pudding" - Wynonie Harris And the list goes on and on and on. |
Ugosample:But is it not a fact that the Naira has remained stable for 1 year? I'm not a fanboy, but you have to admit this is true. Even when oil was rising in previous administrations, Naira fell in value. How they do it is another question, but it has been stable, unlike any other time - and that helps investor confidence. Seeing that your investments won't just lose value in six months because of depreciating currency. |
No need for any excuses. Men will have the perfect girl, but sampling is in our genes. Sample all you can, but sample wisely, is my motto. That said: man can chop and clean mouth... woman can born child for another man and have you raise them. Believe women at your own peril, my friends. |
Born2Breed:Heh heh... you have a point... still Duke na Duke... |
NIGHTMARE0O7:Operative word is "married". There are still things you don't do with a royal princess and her lineage. It may be OK for commoners to kiss each other in public, but I imagine the royal household is held to a different standard. Not supporting it, but even I would be wary to kiss a princess in public if we were not married... and even then, there are appearances to maintain. |
Secretary Patel raises some valid points, which should be addressed, but I can't believe this article was written with good intentions, and I would not be entirely surprised if she has some pecuniary interest in this company. This article reads as a thinly veiled attempt to threaten FG. 1. She talks about investing and FDI in Nigeria as if it's a charity operation. How much more money do they stand to make from Nigeria? Africa might be seen as the more risky part of an overall balanced portfolio, but it is their most profitable (risk vs reward). 2. She mentions ONE company's experience, without expounding on how the company got the deal (was it openly bidded for, or did money exchange hands; did the company overpromise, overcharge, as is their wont), and uses that as a basis to make investors wary. Could we also be educated on the many many success stories of UK companies in Nigeria? Purely from a statistical perspective, most ventures are doomed to fail (for a multitude of reasons), so I don't think one failure is enough to damn an entire process. 3. Nigeria currently imports petrol, but not for long. Any investor would know about the oncoming refinery in Lekki, and can imagine what that will do for purchasing power and GDP once dollars are no longer diverted for imports of fuel. 4. I'm not a big fan of PMB nor of his anti-corruption drive (and it's obvious selectiveness), but even I have to admit that the rampant bold-faced stealing has reduced (it may now be covert, but at least, people are taking notice, especially in the opposition parties :-). 5. Buhari has made the Naira stable for over 1 year in both parallel and official markets... something I don't remember ever happening in any other administration, which is actually an indication of a sensible policy that should encourage investors. I don't like many things about this administration, but we cannot deny this fact. 6. She talked about corruption in Nigeria's public sector... she should also give recommendations for reducing corruption in the UK private sector, that is all too happy to take ill-gotten monies and invest it in their economy. |
booblacain:I appreciate this comment because it highlights the main reason for the backlash. However, I'm going to play devil's advocate - not because I'm supporting blackfishing, but because I want there to be a different response from just reacting to something other people do. Black girls have also been "building their acceptance and bank accounts" for a century by aping white features: straight hair (weave on or relaxed), skin lightening, rhinoplasty and other surgeries. People will say "well that's different because of the history of exploitation and denigration"; I understand the historical context, but we can't deny that because of white societies' denigration of black features, many many black women chose to whitefish, and they have benefited socio-culturally and economically from it. Instead of being reactive, people of color need to empower ourselves. Slightly out of context but related: people have complained that for decades, white artists appropriated black music and benefited widely from it. Rather than bitch and complain, Michael Jackson did his best and started buying white music rights so he could benefit from it. We're also seeing the likes of JayZ and Dr. Dre transcending from being artists to owners. Those people complaining about appropriation of black music forget of course that the very platforms that make black music even possible to hit the mainstream (the instruments, recording media, electronics, radio broadcasts, engineers, producers, distribution chain, etc) have been put in place by mostly white people. The lawyers, the So who gets "credit" for black music? Is music only about singing it? What about all the technology, law, protections, money, and systems that go into making recorded music possible? |
cescky:Well summed up. Here I am looking for how I'm going to take care of family, and people are complaining about irrelevant matters. These same black girls will be straightening their hair, lightening their skin (to look oyinbo), yet complain when other races want to look black. OK so black fishing are doing it for compliments and raising their social media value... isn't that what black girls do when they straighten their hair to be more "acceptable"? |
Ewedegubbler: CheedyJ:Technically, he was given a visa to visit UK, but not to conduct business. One amebo hater told the authorities. If somebody wants to go through the trouble, they can verify from Nigerian authorities which visa she was issued, but it won't stop customs and immigration from admitting her anyway - na Naija we dey. |
Benesth:For launching a sure banker? This brand belongs to Dencia, but this lady will help launch it in Naija Nigerians ladies love to bleach, and it's a lucrative market. We may fault their thinking, but this is just marketing brilliance. All those people yabbing that all she can sell is her body, well, here's a product that will sell out within 24 hours. |
Khd95:No Porsche, but at least she has cooking show. If she's smart and expands on these opportunities being provided for her, she can afford her own Porsche, IJN. |
I would not be surprised if the owner started a really successful business, and realized the uselessness of his certificate. |
SIMPLYkush:I really hate that thing ehn?! And some young women would be telling me something like "short put sweet die"?!? Ewww ![]() We were talking about uni days... But Naija just day fall hand anyhow? Don't the people in charge care about anything? Even if there are no repercussions from above, why not just do the right thing, and make sure things under your care work? A whole International Airport? |
Tito's mum says the case has been reported to the police in Alagolo, Ipaja. She said the police officers have asked them to pay some money before they can start investigating the matter. This is so heartless... I know police always ask for mobilization, but this is a missing person for God's sake? How can they continue to be so heartless knowing every moment they delay increases the chance the poor girl is dead? What a useless country... we don't even have the means to protect ourselves, and the police does not give one damn. So we've been reduced to praying for her safety, instead of doing something about it. |
ngoziempress: Firefire: merbenko: Barney11:Please don't start rumors... we rarely see him without glasses, and as you can see, the glasses are on the table. That's how people will spread fake news. |
With all due respect to the UK, who the fsck are you to "advise" or dictate to one countries senators? If there's any dereliction of duty, it is us, the Nigerian people, who should be advising. Granted we don't do it, but that doesn't mean UK should start stepping in and dishing out guidance like a parent to a child. |
How many rape stories this week? What is going on in this Nigeria these days? Is olosho too expensive again? |
Uglymugg:You are absolutely right... we should start fishing out these native doctors and charging them for complicity. I really hope the CP will take this further than just jailing the yahoo boys. They must have been calling the alfa, or should be made to disclose his location. |
I must say these people are very good election campaigners. Tell SS that you're planning to build a port, right before elections, and like dutiful idiots we'll swallow the bait and vote for them. Like 2nd Niger bridge, or dredging the Niger, this one will stall for about 10-15 years, if ever completed. |
