Cherez:The truest daft one is the person who reads A, understands it as B, and begins to throw insults based on his obviously poor comprehension skills. FYI, nowhere in my post did I mention or defend anything about the increased quantity of consumption, that is another kettle of fish. Learn to look before jumping to conclusions like a frustrated wife. I have always said it that increasing consumption 'quantity' is the only area where there is no explanation and obviously fraudulent; if people were smart in Nigeria, that's the only area the arguments should be focused on, not the "fuel is N145 so are we paying subsidy?" shallow question which people always raise on these threads. Next time if you want to know my opinion, ask me! before you run ahead of yourself assuming you know what my opinion is. By the way, you said the current govt is paying over 200%. 200% of what exactly? Where do you cough out these figures from? |
1nigeriamyfoot:Oh your argument is no longer "Buhari is stealing subsidy"? It has now shifted to "buhari is the one that crashed the Naira"? This is a typical example of what happens when emotions and foolishness is placed before logic. Meanwhile when you and your countrymen have an inordinate appetite for imported goods, (including imported toothpick) in a country that depends on only one source of income (oil), the currency crashing at every oil price shock becomes inevitable especially when your useless leaders do not have the foresight and discipline to save sufficient funds in its foreign reserves. Buhari isnt the one who made Nigeria to depend only on oil, neither is he the one that forced you to kill all your refineries thereby spending 60% of its forex importing petrol and kerosene; PMB isn't also the one who depeleted the reserves making it impossible to defend the Naira when the oil crisis was critical. FYI, the Naira's value has progressively devalued under every single regime. When OBJ entered, Naira was less than N80/$, when he left it was about N120-150/$. When GEJ entered, despite unprecedented oil income, Naira still crashed from N150/$ to N230/$ in the parallel market. The entire crash under GEJ happened in the last few months due to a sudden oil crash despite desperate efforts made using funds in the reserves to defend the Naira. The oil crash worsened and persisted after PMB took over and at the time he took over, the reserve was critically low to permit further withdrawals to defend the Naira. Only a fellow having boiled indomie in place of brain cells would have expected magic to have happened for the Naira not to crash... Nuff said! Now quit blabbing out off point let's go back to the topic of discussion |
CSTR2:What exactly increased by 2000% ? From what price to what price?.... Are you sure you understand the report you read? Meanwhile regarding the currently fallen oil prices you talk of, in 2012 when exchange rate was N150-160/$ and oil price was ~$100, landing cost of imported fuel was N145. Now exchange rate has doubled to N305/$ but landing cost of fuel is still under N200. Can you not see that that is a result of the low oil price? |
CSTR2:There's a simply economic explanation for that; when pump price was N97, the actual import cost was about N145. Now fuel sells for N145 but the actual import cost floats between N165 - N200. Oil prices and the exchange rate which has doubled (N160 - N305) are the core culprits why subsidy is still being paid despite the N145 pump price. The above logic is only complex when we mix emotions and economics. 1nigeriamyfoot: 1nigeriamyfoot:The real daft 'Zon B' is the one who doesn't know that exchange rate which has doubled between 2012 to date will also double the import cost of fuel. |
ajalawole:It's not even about the stealing, it's simple logic; fuel cost more than N145 per litre, so if the pump price is fixed at N145, someone (govt) has to pay the difference. |
ednut1:Even with dangote refinery in full operation, subsidy payments would still continue else he will sell fuel for N200 to have to recover his loan. |
Hmmm.. an interesting turn of events. Ajeku iya master finally gets back to the streets to meet Akpabio whom he mocked. Oh sorry I forgot, Akpabio actually isn't even on the streets anymore. Dino's mouth has just brought him down; he will be missed. |
How exactly does that joke translate to 'justifying rape'? Frustrated people always looking for who to pull down to their depressed level in the guise of activism and correctism. Hopefully they feel fulfilled with their achievement now. Congrats to them! |
CapitalHYC:On the contrary, there's a lot of scammers out there who do the unthinkable and mask it with fake newspaper links or screenshots. The caption up there was poorly written, not a single mention of who is offering the so called scholarship or any details of the scholarship. The claim of 'searching' for the boy and asking people to come up with 'legit' info is also wierd; the boy is from FUTO, how complex is it to place a call to the school or department to seek the boys info? You cant blame anyone for questioning the authenticity of stories that fly around Nigeria's social media space. |
TonyeBarcanista:No they said it's only Yoruna women he doesnt shake. Nothing wen Musa no go see for gate ![]() |
MelesZenawi:What exactly did Vanguard write? That they are searching for the boy who built 'airplane' so they can take him to united 'State' of america? They couldn't go to FUTO to ask of him, they rather had to come online to post a pidgin English missing person advert for those with info on the boy to come forward? Which educated person looks at that image up there and actually believes it's from Vanguard newspaper? Smh! |
Ctorch:Who offered the scholarship? What's the source of this info? |
Another meaningless occurrence for people to talk about. |
With Nigeria's massive infrastructure deficit, it's not a bad idea of we borrow a bulk sum to finance a massive infrastructure upgrade (i.e. power system upgrade, road, rails, seaports); most of these things can pay off the debt in no time if they're managed well. But the only problem is, will the funds be used for its intended purpose? Also, will the new infrastructure be managed properly to be able to pay off the debt? Knowing the kind of useless leadership we've always had in Nigeria, it's difficult to trust the govt with this sort of gamble. |
VirginSearcher:Realest MVP right? Besides fighting with Buhari, fighting the ruling party which actually took him to the Senate and padding budgets with flimsy constituency projects, can you please mention any examples of anti-Nigeria policies which Saraki successfully stopped or any meaningful laws which his Senate enacted? Whilst at it, besides Magu (who we all know was for selfish reasons), can you also mention the appointees which Saraki's senate disqualified which makes you set him apart from the current senate which you tag 'RUBBER STAMP'? A lot of people just loosely assume any senate which fights with the executive is a good one, especially when it's an executive they love to hate. |
Guyman02:And why are you so certain the 978 released yesterday arent actually these innocent people held in military custody for ages? Why are you so convinced the military would freely release terrorists and continue to detain innocent people? Could it just be hatred and distrust for govt fuelling this reasoning? https://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2019/11/27/world/africa/ap-af-nigeria-boko-haram.html

Decolonel:Just curious to know who this 'THEY' is. |
Im very sure Oga Onyema does not know and did not send this one. Charge and bail bro wants to key in quickly for some favours. |
I guess people attract their likes. I've met and dated women who never asked for a dime from me; Yes Nigerian women. I always had to be the one to even force favours on them. I must confess though, I've also met some hungry Nigerian girls who wouldn't be able to respect themselves even if their lives depend on it. |
Difrent:The US issue seems to be a simple one which Onyema can easily squeeze himself out of by presenting some necessary documentation and legal argument. But instead of allowing the man sort himself, hordes of painfully dumb theorists have plunged a US matter into a Nigerian inter-tribal war tagging it the handiwork of enemies and blaming Yorubas, Fulanis and Nigerian govt for trying pull down a good Igbo man after he did a charitable work which the govt couldnt do. How exactly did we degenerate to this sort of insanity? Sometimes it's really shameful being Nigerian. |
OGHENAOGIE: femi4:A system that works profits many, but whether a system works or not, many people can still prosper with the right mindset, discipline and hardwork. As bad as the Nigerian system is, there're still many who prosper. Conversely, as good as the UK system is, there're still many who haven't prospered so once again, it's an individual thing! Unfortunately, many people limit themselves with this defeatist mindset that they cannot make it because the system is bad. Some believe they can never prosper except they leave the country or resort to criminality (with the belief that only those involved in illegality make it in Nigeria). At the end, you are a product of your mindset! You are a product of what you believe! |
maxiuc:This mindset is one of the foremost reasons many people aren't prospering in Nigeria; a lot of people believe they must be involved in illegality before they can prosper. That's the reason we glorify thieves and fraudsters and look up to these characters as role models. Your mind controls your destiny! |
alphaNomega:Loads of people also prosper in Nigeria where the system doesn't work, and there're also people in those places where things work who haven't prospered like this after decades. SO in summary, it's an individual thing. |
Daviddson:Lol... are you new to Nigeria? In this country, even if a cleaner in the aso rocks makes a statement to his friend in a beer parlour, our world class journalists know how best to report it to get your attention. |
larryUG:They may be in partnership in their commercial division, but hey, they're totally different companies headquartered in different countries. Anyway, the point i tried to make was that when you pull certain weight / strings, it raises eyebrows. |
Maduawuchukwu:My posts are not against any Igbo interests; my posts are against a nonsense retrogressive and nauseating mentality which I've noticed is now fast becoming a norm... Igbo big men aren't the only ones who have had challenges or have been investigated or indicted by the system either home or abroad. So why exactly is it that any time an Igbo elite faces any issue, the narrative never falls short of "they want to pull him down because he's Igbo"? Is that the mentality you want me to imbibe to be a true Igbo person? Even before the news hits the airwaves, it will instantly be tribalised by those claiming it's Yorubas and Hausas trying to pull down successful Igbo men. If what you term "against Igbo interest" is my condemnation of the incessant proliferation of victim mentality, needless paranoia, persecution complex, irrational defense of nonsense and always creating watery conspiracies and blaming blaming and blaming and fighting other large Nigerian tribes whenever an Igbo big man faces challenges, then so be it. If this retrogressive mentality is what you want me to promote to be a true Igbo person, then I'm sorry, I'd gladly accept your Osu tag because I will not be given to nonsense. Afterall no be today people like you on this forum don dey call me Yoruba. |
Maduawuchukwu:Why exactly would I pray for anyone's business to fail? Only sick people do that. You want top businessmen from other tribes to fail because you think few top igbo businessmen are having one or two challenges; that's very sick and you and anyone else who reasons like this need some medicament! I'm an igbo man and I wish no one evil; I just find this never ending victim mentality/persecution complex thing too nauseating. When will people ever get tired of this nonsensical "it is because he is Igbo" mentality? Everyone is always leaving their business to come and attack Igbos! Meanwhile regarding your earlier question, I guess when First Nation Airline went belly up because of debt, it was because Tinubu was an Igbo man too right? Wake up man! This mentality is ridiculous. |
Maduawuchukwu:Dangote, Otedola, Tinubu, Ibeto, Innoson and Onyeama are the only businessmen out of 180 million Nigerians right?... What challenges are Orji Kalu, Arthur Eze, ABC Orjiako, Cosmas Maduka, Emeka Offor etc facing?.... I guess you're praying hard for people like Dangote or Otedola to fall so that you can rejoice at the 'equality' right? Na only Igbo businessmen get problem for the world; wise reasoning! |
meccuno:hmm... just googled. Apparently AP didn't even cancel the 737 orders. |
Adiola:What exactly are you talking about? What first post are you referring to? ![]() This was my first post on this thread: obailala:Can someone please explain to me where the ethnic colouration in the above statement is or how this fellow interpreted it as ethnic and brought tinubu into the discussion? Can you not see how consumed you are in your ethnic mentality that it's now making you schizophrenic? You think everybody you encounter online is another slowpoke involved in your Nigerian inter-tribal stupidity? The Allen Onyema case is all over the place and I could count at least 10 live Nairaland threads on it but you say I do not have a right to comment on the case because that is being ethnic? Or only an Igbo person has a right to talk of Allen Onyema case, any one else that talks of it is being tribal? It's sad that you don't realise how ridiculous you sound. It's actually an Igbo person talking to you by the way, just so you know how shallow your comment is. |
Adiola:I would be lying if I said I understood the complex unpunctuated sentence you just wrote up there. Can you please be clear? What is your point? |
Lorenzop:Are Ibeto and Innoson the only Nigerian businessmen that have faced challenges from business competitors/ rivals? Is Ibeto the only businessman in Nigeria that Dangote has trampled on through govt connection even within the cement business? Have you heard of BUA and what dangote did to him in the sugar business? Is BUA also Igbo?... Is Innoson the only businessman that has faced issues with our cartel-like exploitative banks? Why cant some of you folks just see anything beyond tribal conspiracy? Are you not sick and tired of this repeated line "its because he's Igbo"? Doesnt it now sound ridiculous in your own ears?.... Which ethnic group in Nigeria is enjoying economic support or paradise or having it well?... Not even the born to rule northerners are enjoying anything economically. Why does it always have to be about Igbos Igbos Igbos and why does every other tribe always have to be blamed?... The rest of Nigerians are sick of it and people get tired of Igbos because of this never ending victim mentality/persecution complex and "it is because he's Igbo" nonsense. Dangote who you used as an example even enjoyed the same FG backing under northern and southern governments, are you then implying even GEJ supported Dangote to knock Ibeto out of business because GEJ hates Igbos too?... If Allen's case now was in Nigeria now, only God knows the kind of tribal wailing and victim mentality crusade that would have been happening now as if to say he's the first Nigerian businessman that has ever been accused of anything. Even as it is now, some persons couldnt resist the urge to say it is jealous Yorubas and Hausas that went and reported Allen to US authorities. Haba! Seriously this mentality needs to be exorcised before it totally consumes Igbos. I'm an Igbo man myself but I'm sick of hearing it so I imagine how others would even feel. |
