You're just a liar! Jonathan never wanted to arrest him because he believed in rule of law. Sowore came to Nigeria for the protest. In fact, he flew to Nigeria always then. He didn't sneak in.
No I'm not a liar, rather you're being either a child, suffering from intentional amnesia, or you just weren't aware of political happenings in Nigeria prior to 2015 (your kind are plenty on this forum these days).

By the way please provide any evidence you can of Sowore stepping into Nigeria for any protest between 1999 and 2015. It's repulsive when people just cook up baseless statements from thin air simply because they want to force an argument.

Meanwhile, I dont even need to search to dig up stories like this; unfortunately like I said, a lot of people commenting on Nairaland these days were only 'born' in 2015.

No such thing as 'tolerant leaders' in Nigeria. The only reason Sowore wasn't arrested under OBJ and GEJ was because he never stepped foot in Nigeria then, and when he did, he only sneaked in and sneaked out through Cotonou.

That is one of the quintessential GEJ/PDP projects. All hail GEJ/PDP for the foresight to construction the rail between Abuja and Kaduna! See how useful it is now both monetary wise and ferrying passengers. Learnt it has been hijacked by the novae rich. Poor passengers the train is meant for has been dislodged.
Where do people even get this impression from that trains are meant for the poor? Could this idea be from places like India and Bangladesh where we see pictures of overcrowded dirty trains with people sitting on the roof?

Trains are faster, safer, more secure, more comfortable and more luxurious. In every developed country I've been to, train fares are well more expensive than buses; in the UK for instance, train fares are even more expensive than flights on several routes. So why exactly do many people just harbour this idea that trains should be cheaper than road for passenger transport?

I work with the Chinese company in charge of the train station at Rigasa, I can vividly tell u that they are making 5x of that money he mentioned. Train comes from abuja to Kaduna 3 - 4x a day, same as the one going from Kaduna to Abuja. Each train is said to convey minimum of 500 passengers, lets assume the transport fee is 2500 (remember VIP is almost 5k). Means 500passenger x 2500naira fee = 1, 250, 000 for a journey and 6 - 8 journey occur a day both to and fro. That is, 1, 250, 000 x 6 = 7, 500, 000 for a day. Now for a month, means 7, 500, 000 x 30/31 days = 225, 000, 000/232, 500, 000 per month. U can calculate yourself and tell me if am wrong pls.
Is the fare N2500? I remember the fare announced was somewhere between N600 - N900 when that route was launched.

The kaduna highway kidnap has the hand of government in it and I’m in support. The train service was built with massive loan and without patronage, Nigeria can’t pay back the loan.

It’s a welcome development but the money is still small.

That’s about N1.2b a year. About N15b in 12years while we took a loan of about N183b.

That line is not economically viable.
Assuming the N100m/month is NET PROFIT, it would take over 100 years for it to payback the loan. But we all know the N100m can't be profit, I'd be shocked if the operational and maintenance costs dont swallow the entire N100m. The rail just appears to be another govt liability for which operational and maintenance and loan repaynent cost would still have to be taken from oil revenue.
TravelRe: ‘abuja-kaduna Train Service Generates N100m Monthly’ by obailala(m): 7:23am On Sep 30, 2019
Operational and maintenance cost will run over N200 million per month and at the current rate, there is zero chance that the revenue from the rail can repay its $500m loan in even 500 years. So what exactly is there to celebrate about another massive government liability?

Go to Twitter and read the thread that was sparked debate on April. https://twitter.com/NkirukaNistoran/status/1123112038614601729?s=19

But due to the envy and injustice against Eastern Nigeria NAHCO & AVIATION are charging ETHIOPIAN AIRLINE more tax in ENUGU than Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna and Kano. Now, the flight ticket from
ENUGU to GUANGZHOU (CHINA) N350,000
Lagos to GUANGZHOU N280,000
Abuja to GUANGZHOU N280,000
We see all sorts of broadcast messages of this kind on whatsapp, facebook etc, driven purely by victim mentality, paranoia, tribal mistrust and dubious politics. But the big question is, how many of these are true and how many are just baseless propaganda?

When I asked if you can substantiate this, I expected you would provide any evidence whatsoever suggesting that the Nigerian government was indeed charging higher charges for international flights landing at Enugu as claimed; I wasn't expecting some twitter or whatsapp broadcast message by faceless people as you have provided.

For starters, everyone who flies knows that the cost of flight tickets typically vary based on demand and supply; reason why if you purchase tickets earlier when there are still many available seats, you get a lower fare. So it's not exactly clear how the authors of the above message arrived at what almost looks like fixed prices for flights to China. This very message was broadcast sometime earlier this year and Ethiopian Airline officials came up and debunked the story, but I'm not surprised the same message is still being spread.

stop saying trash. It's all political. These ports were fully functional before the Civil War. This is the same thing the fg is doing to the Eastern airports. Ethiopian airlines is been charged higher to operate from the akanu abiam Airport than Lagos and Abuja instead of keeping a flat rate and that has affected the ticket fee in return. Yet again, once it's time for Christmas celebration the fg will once more remember that there's a fault that needs to be resolved on the runway and shots it down so easterners coming from abroad will use other airports. IT'S ALL ECONOMIC SABOTAGE.
Can you really substantiate this claim (in bold)?

The Ibaka deep seaport is a state govt initiative. The proposed Badagry and Lekki Ports are also state govt initiatives!

Do you mean to say the Akwa-Ibom state government also applied 5% rule to marginalise itself and its people by abandoning the Ibaka deep sea port?.... Do you mean to say the Lagos state government is applying 5% rule by refusing to use Lagos state funds to build a deep seaport in the eastern coast?. Northern Governors don't spend their money fixing roads because the FG gives a lot of attention to them, it's roads in the South that are left to collapse making the people to suffer
Can you substantiate this claim that the FG is carrying out more CAPITAL projects in the north than the south? It's not enough to just repeat a 'popular opinion' over and over again because that popular opinion can sometimes be false.

In my opinion I think it is richer states that spend state funds in fixing federal road; biggest culprits are Lagos, RIvers and Delta.

President Buhari is so ethnocentric that he instructed the World Bank and IMF to concentrate development in Northern Nigeria.

Have you imagine such a bigot as the President
cyberguy72:
RUBBISH
President Buhari is ethnocentric, there is no argument on that. But can you point out any tangible evidence to prove that his ethnocentrism affected the national spread of projects in the federal ministry of works?

Regarding the instruction to World bank / IMF, it is the normal tradition of those institutions to concentrate their aid efforts in war ravaged areas. As far as Nigeria is concerned, only the north east is war ravaged, so the president's instructions to the IMF were not out of place. Besides even being war ravaged, every single human development index which informs the IMF/World bank's decisions on where to provide aid also points to the north; extreme poverty, disease, hunger, illiteracy etc. PMB doesn't need to tell the IMF how to do what they've been doing for ages.

With that away, let's return to the main issue. I ask again, kindly point out how the president's ethnocentrism affected the spread of capital projects around the geopolitical zones?... Give me substance, not childishness or emotions.
PoliticsRe: No Refund For Federal Roads Repairs - FG Tells Governors by obailala(m):
mushystuff:
Hehehe..next level directive. Seriously though, ths is wrong on all counts because FG is clearly too ethnocentric to want to pay equal attention to all regions. It sibmostky Southern governors that are forced to intervene on federal roads. Northern governors don't have to because the president is their brother!

Now if the state governors are asked to steer clear or repair those roads at their expense, what then is the FG doing? If they were doing their jobs will governors have to? Why not look at how to agree on payment modalities and review claims made by the state governments? These idiots in power are fond of either forcing stuff down the throats of Nigerians or absolutely throwing out the baby with the bathwater! They never apply critical thoughts to their policies and decisions!
There's this widespread notion that the FG is fixing roads in the north and abandoning the south, especially the SE and SS due to ethnocentric reasons. In a moment of truth and honesty devoid of political emotions, can you substantiate this your claim that the ministry of works is currently fixing more roads in the north than elsewhere?... Saying something over and over again, and believing it as fact, doesnt necessarily make it true. How long are we going to keep believing and propagating this false notion?

Meanwhile, regarding the directive by Buhari to governors, you cant really blame the FG and neither can you blame the governors. This is like a husband who while still thinking of a birthday gift he can afford for his wife, the wife goes ahead and buys a brand new Ferrarri as her gift, and then asks the husband to refund her the gift money. If you were the husband, what would be your reaction?

I think most people misunderstand the concept of forgiveness.

FFK included.

Those names FFK called, from Kwankwaso to Atiku used their PDP campaign platform in 2018 campaigns to PERSONALLY ask for forgiveness from GEJ and Nigerians.
GEJ of course forgave and Nigerians, quick to forgive anything forgave and seemingly moved on. Hence no one is picketting Atiku, for example.

Sowore on the other hand, has NOT asked for forgiveness from anyone. Why should Nigerians/GEJ supporters forgive someone who hasn't asked for it? FFK dont be silly please.
Forgiveness for what exactly?.... Forgiveness for being a consistent critic of every single useless Nigerian government since 1993 till date?... Is that what Sowore should be seeking forgiveness for?... A lot of Nigerians truly need divine help!

Former minister of aviation Femi Fani-Kayode, FFK, has given reason why detained Omoyele Sowore needs to be forgiven by supporters of ex-president Goodluck Jonathan.

Sowore is currently detained by the Department for State Security, DSS, and also charged for treasonable felony.

His predicament has been mocked by supporters of Jonathan who recall how he supported the current administration against the then Jonathan-led administration in 2015.

However, FFK is of the opinion that Sowore deserves to be forgiven for whatever he may have said against Jonathan.

Given reason, he said if the likes of Bukola Saraki, Aminu Tambuwal, Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Kwankwaso could be forgiven today, despite all they said against Jonathan, then Sowore deserves the same treatment.

"Those that mock @YeleSowore for his predicament just because he villified @GEJonathan in 2015 are being petty and naive. Is there anything he said in 2015 that @bukolasaraki, @atiku, @KwankwasoRM, @AWTambuwal and others did not say?If we can forgive them we must forgive him too”.

https://wotzup.ng/why-sowore-deserves-to-be-forgiven-by-goodluck-jonathan-supporters-ffk/

C
Hahaha... FFK also remembers the terrible things he himself said against GEJ whilst he was in APC, before he eventually crossed-over to PDP at the last minute to find grub.

Meanwhile, those who think Sowore owes anybody an explanation or needs forgiveness for being a very consistent critic of every useless Nigerian government since 1993 need to have their brains checked.
