cstr1000: You still have not showed me why it is silly. We are talking about Nigeria here, not utopia. I may not be tribal, but I can't stop my neighbour from being tribal. For an issue which has absolutely nothing to do with tribe, but the first thing which comes to your mind is tribe? No! you are definitely very tribal, and that's the only reason you think everyone else swims in your pool; you're only capable of viewing and interpreting everything from the myopic tribal and ethnic point of view, else I cant rationalise how tribe came into this thread. |

Sure, you are waiting for the Presidency to release a flimsy explanation while you run along with it claiming "The details of that very case was made very clear and the case closed" Like I said before, quit daft criticism. There are numerous reasonable things you can criticise, e.g. the cost of the portal which is just before you in this thread; but you choose to dwell on nonsense. Its a pain having to accept that Nigerian youths have degenerated to this senseless level tribal foolishness. what is the essence of due process if someone can just make approvals?
do you know that the tenders board that Baru is hiding under cannot approve contracts above $20m? & that is even subject to conditions to avoid contract splitting which is what the former NPA chairman went to jail for...?
do you know that even pmb has a limit to which he can give executive approval for?
a contract(s) of that sum can only be approved by the FEC, so which FEC meeting was the approval given?
if pmb gave executive approval, when was this given & where are the supporting documents to support that? I do not understand the critical details of the case, but what I do know is that this very argument of yours pertaining to 'contracting procedures' was clarified and the entire case put aside following the clarification that 'it was not a contract.' |

Forest Whitaker visited nkwerre some years ago and he was given a chieftaincy title as a black American who traced his root to the Igbos. Sometimes it's used as a sign of appreciation. When flavour visited Liberia some years back, they honoured him also with a chieftaincy title, same as when Rio Ferdinand visited Lagos back then, he was honoured with a chieftaincy title too. It's used for appreciation. Playing politics with emotion is one of our problems. I think it's more or less an issue of 'herd mentality' - first person criticises, everyone else follows irrespective of whether the criticism makes any sense. |
Politics › Re: Alleged Embezzlement: Fashola Finally Replies Dino Melaye by obailala(m): 9:32am On Nov 10, 2017 |
olajay86: http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/11/alleged-embezzlement-fashola-finally.html
The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has condemned what he described as ‘unverified allegations’ raised by a senator against his ministry.
Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi West, had accused the ministry of mismanaging funds to the tune of $35 million and another attempt to break away with $350 million Eurobond.
Reacting to the allegations, the minister in a statement personally signed on Thursday, said he would cooperate with the Senate as he and his staff has done nothing wrong in management of the said fund.
“With all emphasis, I state that there is no factual basis for the allegations,” he said.
“The ministry, my staff and I have done nothing wrong and we will collaborate fully with the investigating committee when called upon,” he added.
He alleged an ulterior motive in the presentation of the allegations, as the senator made different allegations while raising it as a petition, and later as a motion.
“The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) had on Monday, 6th November 2017 issued a statement on the front page of The Nation Newspaper explaining that the money was not missing, stating also that the $350 million had been invested and that interest had even accrued on the money.
“If there was no ulterior motive for the allegation, this was enough reason for a reconsideration of the presentation of the motion on the floor of the Senate on the 8th of November 2017.
“But the story seemed to have changed from “missing money” last week, to a “desperate attempt to retrieve the money “, this week.”
“They offered to do this by providing Nigeria with mobile turbines of 600MW if we could find a location with Gas and Transmission evacuation infrastructure. The Afam Power Station fitted because it had transmission and evacuation facilities but all its turbines had been virtually run down.
“The investment was contingent on paying $27,990,000 million which was 15% of 8 (eight) units of 30MW turbines each totalling 240MW valued at about $186,600,000:00.
“This payment of $27.9m was made without breaching any law.
“At this moment, the turbines have arrived Nigeria and currently at the Onne Port. This is verifiable just as works are on going on the site – civil and engineering – preparing to receive the turbines , and install other equipment already at site.” Waiting for the response from Dino. But while at it, I already know exactly what the responses in this thread would be like. |

but, hey, its your choice, but when another administration spends $45b without passing through due process, I hope you would also defend it... those of us that want better transparency & accountability will, in our own little ways, continue to put the government on its toes...
you & your likes can continue to reap from the filth of unbridled corruption presently going on... You do realise the money wasnt for a 'contract' but rather was payment of NNPC's cash call to JV partners right? You also do realise that the issue of breach of due process has been clarified with a confirmation that it didn't necessarily need to pass the desk of the board chairman?... You do realise the case has long been closed right? So why exactly do you still dwell on a closed case when you should be focused on a more reasonable debate on the N700m portal? |

ogologoamu: Again, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has continued his libellous defamation of former President Jonathan with lies unbecoming his position as Vice President and his calling as a pastor.
In his latest misadventure, the vice president spoke yesterday (Monday, 6th of October 2017) in Abuja at the legislative economic summit themed “Legislative Framework for Economic Recovery and Sustainable Development”.
At that event, he accused the Jonathan administration of not building any infrastructure for Nigeria and frittering away the nation’s wealth saying “Of course, we all know that there was very little by the way of investment in infrastructure and capital projects. In fact, in 2015, capital spend was less than 11%. So, there was very little to show for where this money went.”
This is a barefaced lie and it is sad that the Vice President has decided to descend so low.
It is on record that the Jonathan administration is only second to the Yakubu Gowon administration in terms of infrastructure.
The most expensive and valuable project built in Nigeria in the last 20 years is the $1.8 billion Abuja-Kaduna 187 kilometres super-fast railway that enables Nigerians work in Abuja and live in Kaduna.
This project was built and completed by the Jonathan administration. Does the Vice President know this?
Also, former President Jonathan revived the Nigerian Railways in five of the six geo-political zones restoring direct rail service from Lagos to Kano, Port Harcourt to Maiduguri and Makurdi to Gombe.
When Rotimi Amaechi took over as minister of transport in 2015, he said “In fact, I think we have a problem; most people don’t believe that the railway transport is functioning in Nigeria. I didn’t even know, until I started this tour, I never knew that the railway was functioning, it was even from his (MD’s) speech that I learnt that there are some coaches or services that go to Kano or Port Harcourt or elsewhere.”
My question to the Vice President is who built these rail infrastructures that Amaechi was referring to?
Under former President Jonathan, Nigeria for the first time had national radar coverage through the the Total Radio Coverage of Nigeria (TRACON) project completed by the Jonathan administration in 2012. TRACON is the reason Nigeria no longer has frequent air crashes. Can Vice President Osinbajo deny that this was done by the Jonathan government?
Going further, the Jonathan administration completed the $600 million 750 MW Olorunsogo II Power Station in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State. Does the Vice President deny this?
The Jonathan government also built the 504 MW simple cycle Gas Alaoji Power station in Aba, Abia State. Is this also a lie?
That administration also built 12 brand new federal universities including the only federal university in President Buhari’s state of Katsina. The Jonathan administration also constructed and completed 165 Almajiri schools all over Northern Nigeria.
Nigerians will recall that the Jonathan administration rebuilt the Benin-Ore portions of the Benin-Lagos road, the Vom-Manchok road, the Kano-Zaria Road bridge in Kano (named after late Emir Ado Bayero) and many more.
These are just a few of the many projects that the Jonathan administration provided for Nigerians.
Now, I urge Nigerians to compare these projects with what has been conceived of, started and completed by the Buhari administration which has only been able to initiate and complete only one project in two and a half years, which is the helipad in Daura.
How can an administration that cannot even provide paracetamol for the Aso Rock clinic despite over N3billion budgeted for it under President Buhari (according to the First Lady) accuse the Jonathan administration that refurbished 10 general hospitals for the masses across Nigeria?
Another lie from the Vice President was when he said Jonathan reduced “external reserves from $45 billion to $28 billion as of May 2015.”
Why would the Vice President continue to lie so childishly?
There was never a time that the external reserve was $45 billion under Jonathan. The reserves were $33-35 billion under Jonathan. The money the Vice President added to make it $45 billion was the Excess Crude Account which Jonathan refused to touch until members of Mr. Osinbajo’s party, the All Progressive Congress, led by the then Governor of Rivers state and chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Rotimi Amaechi, took the Federal Government to court and got the Supreme Court to force the Jonathan administration to share that money with them.
It is very sad that a man of whom we had expected to so much from has reduced himself to a pathetic liar.
But Nigerians would note that the Vice President’s lies intensified with the exposure of the $25 billion contract scam at the NNPC and the Maina scam of which the head of Service revealed that the President was aware contrary to what he told the Nigerian people.
We will continue to pray for Vice President Osinbajo who is obviously unequally yoked and is now mixing light with darkness.

mynd44 lalasticlala The rate at which Reno Omokri lies to pass his point, even the devil would feel jealous. Reno who calls himself a pastor jumps into the public space to spew falsehood to the admiration of his eagerly waiting jonathanian fans. I didnt bother reading the whole nonsense, but 2 figures caught my attention instantly; 1. Reno claims the foreign reserves never went beyond $33-35?... What a moronic lie that is! Reno must think every Nigerian is a daft follower like the multitude of people who throw 'likes' at his vomits on facebook... As at 2013, Nigeria's foreign reserves was well over $45billion dollars. Anyone can easily confirm that from the CBN website of from tradingeconomics.com. Even if the ordinary man on the street isnt aware, a person who occupied Reno's office cannot claim he isn't aware of this; No way! The whole write-up above is just another pot of trash by a political charlattan meant to deceive a public that never reads or tries to confirm info. Secondly, Reno just claimed the Abuja-Kaduna rail cost $1.8billion. What kind of imbecilic lie is this coming from a person who calls himself a pastor and who's actually even trying to smear the image of another pastor? The Abuja to Kaduna rail cost about $874million, out of which China provided $500million and Nigeria's FG brought $374 (roughly N60billion). And lest we forget, even Buhari's government had to pay off the Nigerian government's final debt of N17billion in 2016 before the rail could be commissioned. And to add to that, the $500million supplied by China is still being paid for every year by even the cirrent govt as part of debt servicing. Omokri must really feel all Nigerians are fools to swallow the nonsense lies he throws to his gullible jonathanian sheep on his facebook page. http://www.railway-technology.com/projects/abuja-kaduna-rail-line/
