FashionRe: Black Women: "Why Don’t You Wear Your Hair Natural?” by obi123: 9:31am On Aug 26, 2014
i wear my hair natural because it gives me my own "individual look" .

Weaves are pretty but right now they tend to make everyone look the same so that individuality is lost, right now Nigerian girls have a stereotype look, same hair , same make up with that dreadful eyebrows that everyone seems to have , weaves just help you fit into that stereotype look.

My natural hair doesn't age me, i can't spend all this money taking care of my skin and body and then go on to ruin my look with so much hair that makes me look at least 5-10years older than i really am.

Weaves are pretty , but they are just not the look i'm going for.

Mr. Sawyer’s action, he said, has placed unnecessary stress on Nigeria’s health system.

unnecessary stress he says , a system that was crippled before now , this Ebola issue has further revealed how derelict the health system is .

HealthRe: Government Vows Not To Recall Sacked Doctors by obi123:
maybe this is the wake up call doctors need to get out of their comfort zone and seek the hustle elsewhere, all i know is that sacking 16,000 doctors will have its consequence.

why weren't they sacked ages ago when they started the strike? so because the Ebola virus don tie wrapper the govt is trying to fire fight and sacking 16,000 doctors is the only solution a whole govt of the fed republic of Nigeria can come up with ? sack the doctors to replace them with what na?

you owe them salaries for months and you expect them to survive on what ? air?

sacking 16,000 doctors will never solve the problem with the health sector, common quarantine station you dont have, you build a pig sty and call it a quarantine station and you somehow expect doctors to rush in there as voltron to save the day? you expect them to perform miracles, how na?

I think that for anyone to go through the stress of studying to be a doctor , they have the zeal and passion for it, but that passion can easily be quenched by the situation in Nigeria.

When you have been a recipient of good health care provision you would see that for anyone to go into a Nigerian hospital and come out alive is nothing short of a miracle, the Nigerian health sector is in a state , no matter how much the govt wants to make it the fault of some group of people other than themselves, it is in a sorry state and maybe this Ebola virus is what is needed to further reveal just how shambolic a state it is in.

babyosisi: Which govt
Federal or state
Looking for someone to blame
Even with schools,how many attend?
This is 2014 not 1714
The ones in Lagos or Aba don't attend the schools available to them either
Child marriage is all over the Muslim world, has nothing to do with availability of schools
They will actually pull the kids out of school to marry them off
Until you are sincere with yourselves this ill will not end
May your way never be narrow, i think after this your comment the thread should be closed, even if the equivalent of Harrow was built in that community , how many will go?how many of them think a girl child needs to be educated? how many of them believe that a girl child has a brain and that maybe just maybe she can do more than just having kids endlessly for old toothless, useless, dirty, perverted, stinky old pedophiles ,carcasses ,useless ,men

yes and was there a curfew for the Ramadan?

This is nothing against tradition, yoruba , ibo or whetever else , yes a ritual has been scheduled , we respect that, i mean if we have xmas, easter, ramadan etc,why shouldn't you have oro ritual but what happens to those who due to unforeseen circumstance cannot keep to the compulsory curfew, will they be killed and does the oro ritual make provision for that ?

Evergreeen123: Mr Obi

This is Ikorodu, this is Lagos, this is Yorubaland. If you feel uncomfortable with our culture GO BACK TO IBOLAND
i dont have any emotions whatsoever about your culture , i'm just saying its unfair to restrict the movement of some people just because a king died , this is not a Yoruba thing or ibo thing, in general its just a common sense thing , by all means practice your culture but not at the expense of human beings.
i think most people appreciate the beauty of culture and like the fact that it is still being practiced but come on a 6pm curfew huh
CultureRe: Restriction Of Movement In Ikorodu Tomorrow Due To Ritual Rites (eluku & Oro). by obi123: 1:35pm On Aug 07, 2014
while we are happy that in the 21st century some of our African culture is still practiced today , why though must people be made to feel threatened by it, why must i be held hostage in my own home because a king died?

culture must be engaging to ensure its continuity and interest, why must movement be restricted because a king died? culture must be accommodating to others who are not part of it, hassle like this is what brings hostility towards certain practices and they are seen to be backward thus people turn their noses at it and refuse to understand it.

question- so where have they moved those other patients who also have highly contagious diseases to ?
answer- i guess somewhere inadequate where they can freely infect others and then we can start to deal with a TB epidemic

Distributing those synthetic overalls to people won't also be a bad idea.
Put schools and offices on hold so as to reduce pedestrian traffic.
Overalls would be very important.

true talk
i like your ideas because the economy go suffer either way
its either we carry on with our daily affairs and risk infection because as it is now no hope for where govt dey as is usually the case.
or like you said start to depopulate the city , take very serious overcrowding reduction measures , schools, market , church sef because , all we need na just one person wey get the virus to stroll by mushin market or one person wey get the virus to give peace of the lord for church and dats it.

import only the best protective overall gears no be the type wey person they use fumigate house oh at least for people wey dey in direct contact with the victims

HealthRe: Nigerian Female Doctor Dies Of Ebola by obi123:
i just fear that if medics are taking extraordinary lengths to keep from getting the disease and they are still contracting it, what is the hope for Nigeria? is the answer for the common man to completely withdraw from the public ?

Doctors are on strike
No cure
No quarantine stations
No adequate protective gear
who knows how they are disposing the bodies of the deceased eh?
what of domestic animals like dogs ? can they be carriers?
we need to shut down the borders too not just airports

we need quarantine stations desperately like yesterday around the country , this one is really a case for prevention is better than cure , there is no cure so prevention is the only option right now.

we need crematoriums to dispose of the bodies with dignity.

Liberia itself should be sanctioned if those pics are actual Ebola victims , for not disposing of the bodies properly preferably by cremation , how can they just leave the bodies on the street like that to spread even further , isnt that when the virus is at its peak?

RomanceRe: Is It Ever Okay For A Woman To Propose To A Man? by obi123:
Princeadebayo1: Going for what u want ....yeah but it will be a shock to the Man if he is not yet ready and anything can follow,I guess her husband too had already made up his mind to propose to her so it wasnt dat sudden to him so it depends.....
.
:
And do you think a female can cope with a rejection from a man like a man will do?......*mouth sealed*:.....#FoodForThought
i will rather cope with rejection early than realize 5yrs down the line that this person never intended to marry me at all, at least if you ask and he says no , then you know on time .

i feel that when a girl asks a man to marry her it is a very bold way of finding out what plans this guy has for you, many men will lead you on for 10years if they had their way, only a daft, weak ,ego drunk man would think it desperate, desperate is getting pregnant purposefully to rope a man into marriage, i think that rather than get pregnant and rope the guy into committing by force and then have him spite you for a long time because he knows the stunt you pulled to end up his wife , why not just ask him? if he says no, thank your lucky stars, dust your slippers on your way out and move on before you start spending your time and energy on someone who never had the intention of setting down in life with you .Humans are tougher than you think, time is a healer.

WOMEN TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE PLEASE, DON'T ASSUME ANYTHING
RomanceRe: Is It Ever Okay For A Woman To Propose To A Man? by obi123: 2:28pm On Jul 31, 2014
Princeadebayo1: Proposing to a man is not proper and shows how desperate the female is which can turn off any Man buh if u get d liver and kidney ,what are yhu waiting for,the best thing dat will happen is d guy will say "NO" tongue and you will be left with how to handle the rejection.....pls never try it at home .
it is not desperate , its about going for what you want, my friend proposed to her now husband of 7 years and he was stunned beyond words.
the worst that will happen is dat the guy will say no, it is the same rejection a man will feel that the woman will feel if the answer is no, LIFE IS TOO SHORT AT TIMES TO KEEP WAITING
FamilyRe: How Does "Submitting" To A Man Improve A Woman's Existence? by obi123:
Oahray: When we say feminism is anti-marriage and anti-family, you femi-nazis would cry foul. Here:

1) An obvious strawman. When did men say submission is THE recipe for success? Hard work is the recipe for success, and at times such hard work is rubbished by arrogant insubordination. If you or your pseudo-Reverend knew the least about social psychology, you'd have realised that dominance and submission is a recurring theme in all human and animal relationships even between platonic friends.

2) I like the way the first two questions are asked without adding marriage to the picture, so you femnists can shift goal posts when you like. I would answer the way it was asked. The key advantage of female submission is the same as the key advantage of male submission to higher (managerial or political) authority. It helps stem unnecessary conflict and it's effect.

3) There's no real 50-50 partnership anywhere in the world that doesn't involve signing legal documents to that effect. Why? To stem future conflict. Why? The average human likes to be dominant over 'equals'. How does this relate to marriage? The man and the woman are not equals in every sense of the word.

Women are generally physically weaker than men. The average woman is more emotional than logical, unlike the average man. Many women have fluctuating emotions because of hormonal issues (pms and post-natal depression anyone?)

A submissive woman helps build up her home and earns the admiration/respect of her husband (if he's reasonable).

4) About the same reason you femi-nazis call every criticism of women misogyny. If you grab every chance to attack the generality of the male folk without ever praising the good parts as if there isn't any, if you blame them for your misfortunes (but never yourself), exaggerate bias against women but downplay bias against men, and bring up gender equality only when it suits the female-folk; face the truth, you are a bitter, man-hating feminist. If you maintain that women don't need men, that makes you lesbian.

5) Many men are brought up from childhood (a mother is usually involved in this training) to believe they are the natural heads of the family. For this, some do not bother trying to earn the respect of their wives. If you BELIEVE you are the head of your firm, how would you view an employee who likes to think you have no right to set any rules? Be sincere.

6) Same reason some people (male and female) defraud others who are trusting. Same reason some ladies lie to get men in prison for a _rape that never happened. Same reason some women maim or kill their innocent babies. It's not because they are men. It's because they are terrible persons.

7) If a man is a monster, he deserves to be treated as one. If he isn't, don't give a dog a bad name so you can hang it.

8 ) Societal norms, family upbringing (including those mothers who pamper their sons), religion. Such a view is as widespread as the view that you must never hit a woman, no matter what she does. Same source, same flaws.

9) See number (6) above. In addition, although domestic violence is bad, a woman should try not to provoke the man unnecessarily with her tongue. There's no monopoly of abuse (verbal abuse is also abuse)

10) Again, it's not because they are men. It's because they are reasonable persons. That's a man that has earned his wife's respect and natural SUBMISSION. Conflict doesn't result in happy families. It could also be because they have a wife who isn't a bitter, selfish, man-hating, blame-pushing feminist.

NB: You feminists seem to have a warped view of submission. It doesn't mean being a puppet or blind obedience. It's simply letting the other person lead. In a group of women, there's always a natural leader. For whatever reason the other women look up to her and let her lead (even without realizing it). Why is submission an issue when it involves men?
A submissive woman helps build up her home and earns the admiration/respect of her husband (if he's reasonable).

May God bless you for this statement, IF HE IS REASONABLE is the key statement here, Naturally women like power , they like when a man shows that he is in charge, submission is easy when the man is reasonable , if the man in question isn't ,then submission to a man who has a brain the size of a fruit fly could be perceived as being in bondage ,there is also the feeling of insecurity and oppression hence the woman feels the need to defend herself and will be reluctant to give herself freely to this man.woman

To be fair some women have been through tough situations in their families which has forced them to be leaders from a very young age, these women will be strong , tough, resilient , independent, decisive, sometimes rigid and unless they meet their match they will not find it easy to submit , it will take a strong focused man to get them to submit .
