(satellite )iin -line amplifier is only used for boosting satellite signal in long cable when it exceeds 300 feet, that is if a long cable is used for satellite instalation there may be a loss of gain between the lnb and the receiver, in line amplifier will be used as a compensation for signal loss , if there is no loss of gain between the lnb and the receiver, there is no need to use in -line amplifier , note if in -line amplifier is not properly used it will reduce your signal quality and it do not increase signal percentage  in receivers ,
@spaceman thanks for the info

@ george , the white plastiic that covered the fuji lnb reduce its signal by 5% have u noticed it , i removed it i gained 5% signal quality , i think fuji is not the best lnb it did not give me a good signal on my 2.4m strong pan dish, i also cut the fuji lnb but there was no difference , lnbs such as pbl ku lnb is better than fuji ,

all, dftv has no frequency or even a paytv, or  have an fta channel of their own, they only have their own fta receiver, they can only install normal fta channel , note those saying that dftv is a new satellite tv in nigeria , that statement is not correct, what they can offer is what you allready have free to air sattellite channels, ,  lol

@george,
i had that type of
problem before
but it was not on
a c band lnb it was on the ku lnb, i think you may have used a
bad coaxial cable
for your installation resulting in a loss
of,gain from the diseqc switch to
the lnb,
you may need to
change your cable and see what will happen,
(2) if your diseqc
is faulty  you will have the same problem,
on my own case
i only changed the coaxial cable,
from the lnb to
the diseqc .

i am using 2.5m/mesh dish

does it increase
signal quality, ?

since you have up
to 1.8m pan dish
according to your
posted pics why
not motorise your dish in that
way you can,pick more satellites
by using both c band and ku band
lnb on the same
dish,
Instead of adding
another 90cm dish for pas/10-KU,
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by odilibe(m): 6:04am On Jul 14, 2009
NOTE!! the easiest way to prevent your lnb from
been destroyed by lightening is
by,switching your
receiver off completely from
mains (socket) power supply when there is heavy rain.
the c band lnb can be easily destroyed by thunder cos it
conductors more
electricity than the  offset ku lnb

@nolywe.
all this satellites
are different,
sirius 2
sirius 3
sirius 4.
sirius 2 which was on 5east was replaced by
sirius 4 now at 4.8e which has an
african beam.
sirius,2 no lönger
exists.
sirius 3 is used as back up for
sirius 4.
You may not be able to see sirius 4 on your strong-receiver becåuse
sirius 4 is a new
satellite,it need to be added by
strong company.
all new receivers
made after the
launch of sirius 4
may have it on the receiver satellite list.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by odilibe(m): 1:36pm On Jul 03, 2009
@twinstaiye
it could be the fact that more
fta channels are
now availlable
on the 90cm/small dishes ,and this
small dishes are
very cheap in the
nigerian market.
That could be one
of the reasons why there are lots of new interest on fta
satellite.

i cannot get green on eurobird
25.5e orbit network ,i only
managed to get
weak signals i used my motorised 2.5m mesh dish to track it.
i may be able to
track it with my
2.4m pan dish but
it is a ground mount dish i use
it to watch nilesat, the tripod stand is
sealed on the
ground with concrete,

@all/enigma
i nèed to,clarify the
issue of crtv(transponder and its satellite source)
crtv is on astra at 28.2east,
reasons:
using my 2.5m mesh dish ì was
able to get a weak signal from
eurobird at 25.5e
the orbit package
with a very weak
signal, the sìgnal
quality ;34% on
my strong receiver it failed
to turn green,i edited the crtv frequency on the
same position i.e
25.5east it failed
to turn green there was no sign
of signal on the
eurobird.i rotate
the satellite with
my positioner/jack(downwards)
it turned green
as high as 80% signal quality.at, 28.2e
the eurobird orbit
package signal droped no signal
strenght at all.
secondary if u have been watching the (crtv) when they are doing a test
transmission and
promo u would have, seen it on your tv
screen indicating
that they are on
astra at 28.2e,
and also the programmes they
will be showing
sports,movies,christain and news
crtv,is a crown royal television
on astra 28.2e
eurobird at 25.5e
has no west  african beam.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by odilibe(m): 7:14pm On Jun 22, 2009
@Sammu,
there is no point
trying to know how to,input pid numbers,in a receiver .if you
scan your receiver using a
particular frequency and got a channel if
you see something like no,video or audio
sìgnal on your tv
screen that means the channel is not transmiting or a
test channel probably it will
not have an audio
or video pid number. If a channel pid number changes
you can simply get new pid number by rescanning your
receìver,there is
no point inputing
pid number in a
channel parameter that
has no pid number yet from
the provider.
trying to know how
to input pid number in a receiver is not
that necessary.

@naijafinestgal
fta is not only for
big dish it is all so
for 90cm ,60cm etc, besides it is
not a boring thread, dont let
people with 90cm
and the rest of
small dishes see
ur post cos u are
trying,to cut them
off from this thread,
the big dish is mainly for c band
reception and out
of foothprint satellites in ku
band or even c band,

take it easy,
you should have
expected that ,
i think that is
normal ,
talking of installing nilesat
i know how hard
it is to install
nilesat,
u are a good member of nairaland,
may be this ur

reduce it by 50%

those who wants
u to install their

A gøod 3m(fibre) dish Can
pick all tp on nilesat in
enugu cos with a
2.4m pan strong
dish most horizontal beam
can be picked in
enugu including
bbc ,fox movies
11766H 27500
at least 42% on
strong receiver
during afternoon
period.
may,be u need to retrack ur nilesat, signal with ur 3.2m fibre since u were able to pick
does sìgnal b4.
3.2m fibre is more adequate to
pick nilesat in enugu,
I am using 2.4m ströng pan for
nilesat.

fuji is a prime focus lnb.
1.8m or 2.4m and
the rest of bigger
dishes are prime
focus dishes.
prime focus may
not be the trademark of that lnb.
please identify the particular name of the lnb

The new replacement for atlanticbird 4 that is atlantic bird 4a according
to flysat it has
only wide beam.
10758v which,was
previously
on ab4 was on
steerable beam
which has more
footprint over
nigeria.
if ab4a appears
to be bad news
for tracking
this nilesat at
this time. who knows what will
happen if eutelsat replace
the aged nilesat
101and102 .
God forbide we
may require 6meter dish to
be able to pick
nilesat, and nilesat has less than 3yrs left,to
be replaced by
nilesat 201.
