I don't really do back and forth debates, but others might learn as well.
Election results have shown that it's only the SE and SS that have totally been voting in one direction (PDP) since 1999 irrespective of who the candidates are or where they come from. PMB had always done well in the core north but PDP also showed a strong footing there as well.

While in 2011 for example, GEJ won the swing SW and NC, and also got sizable votes in the core north despite Buhari's cult followership there; GEJ had over 1millon votes in Kaduna for example. This was because of the "I had no shoes" campaign as well as the huge PDP structures all over the country and lots of states under its control, including in the north.
However, his landslide looting naturally reversed the trend totally to PMB's favor in 2015.

In 2019, the entire north is almost under APC's control. In addition, PMB still has cult followership. They see him as the only man who isn't about his own pocket. While Atiku has no stronghold in his home state Adamawa, let alone in the entire north. Then add the huge corruption baggage of Athifku. My point is, Atiku being a northerner has no effect on PMB's potential votes there. 2019 margin will likely be more in the north than in 2015.

The NC you're calling game changer, I can confidently say PMB will win Niger and Kogi states but no one can say the same for PDP in the remaining 4 states there.

While smart people are analysing real electoral data like this one, others think it's by hijacking Nairaland frontpage in their tens as they've done in recent weeks and screaming Atikulate and Obimycin all over the place. When they lose as expected, they'll start screaming rigging or "zoo must fall".

Meanwhile, none of this is really new to me. The SS has always been the zone with gargantuan rigging as evident in the voters' turnout; especially in Rivers, AkwaIbom, Delta and Bayelsa. However, this time, no more federal backing from PDP to reel out about 70% voters turnout there (when others are below 50%), and some of the chief riggers have moved to the APC. With strict usage of card readers, the SS will be lucky to deliver 5million votes.

This shows that the real voting strength in terms of votes cast of the NW (APC's strongest hold) can comfortably take care of the SS and SE (PDP's strongest holds) .

The NE is still there chilling for the APC as another stronghold. While the split zones of the SW and NC (which I expect more voter apathy there in 2019) slightly favour APC more than PDP.

So tell me how Atikulooter will win without even including his huge corruption baggage.

If you ask some people why they want to vote this govt out, they cite economic hardship and lack of money in their pockets.
Apparently, PDP's 16yrs of "share the money" has ruined the mentality of Nigerians as to how an economy actually works.
They looted the treasury, spent the loots lavishly and this spending somehow trickled down to the ordinary man on the streets. And because money was circulating, Nigerians say the economy is good and they prefer corruption era to integrity. *smh*

How an economy actually works is...the govt builds critical infrastructure and investors come in to set up companies/businesses that employ Nigerians. All the developed countries we're running to had to go through this phase to become economic giants.

Money isn't circulating unlike before because there is no looted funds flying around. No more free money. Instead, it's going to fixing our infrastructure for the future.

Not surprised. I googled it months ago several times to observe the trends but couldn't find state by state breakdown online.
But I'm sure almost all of Atiku's votes in 2007 came from the SW courtesy of his party then, Action Congress. Atiku has no political base at home, not even in Adamawa, let alone in the north. He's used to winning only the areas in which his party has strong presence and 2019 won't be any different - SE and SS.

When you see how credible election results are nowadays under Jega and Mahmoud Yakub compared to the absolute fraudulent results from Iwu's Inec, it's easy to see the progress we've made.
Those wailing over recent Ekiti and Osun results and comparing them with PDP's shameless era of writing results in bedrooms were probably toddlers then.

Different people voted for different things. I voted for this government to fix our badly needed infrastructure that PDP did little or nothing about for 16yrs.

As it stands, Atiku is only guaranteed to win the SE alone in 2019. The ruling party has made good in-roads in the SS and I expect them to perform much better there, particularly in Edo, Rivers, AkwaIbom, Delta and perhaps Crossriver. Atiku is going to lose big time in the NW and NE. If you doubt, check the results of the recent bye-elections and wait for the upcoming ones in the same Bauchi and Katsina.
The SW and NC are usually battle grounds with roughly split votes and looks good for the ruling party. The boycott only makes PMB's victory easier.

It's high time the SE got ready to play inclusive national politics. Nobody gives you anything in life. You have to work for it, earn it and eventually take it (Ask Tinubu). That has been my mentality right from my childhood, so I strive for whatever I desire in life and demand less from people or nothing at all.
Having a victim mentality only makes you feel marginalised. No region in Nigeria has it better than the others. Bad roads, poor electricity, no water, etc. abound in all 6 zones. Lagos and Abuja are simply ex and current capitals and must naturally get better govt attention.

Ignore the preaching of hatred and focus on good governance. Else, you'll end up being bitter and hateful if the candidate you vote against wins an election.

As a result, many people I know have switched camps to the chief Siemens and Halliburton bribe taker, Atiku, as reflected in the Facebook poll I did recently.

I have monitored all that have been done with less resources in less time compared to almost nothing that was done in 16yrs with more resources. My only interest now is.... The thieves must never find their way back to our treasury! You guys should make sure of that abeg.

By all accounts, 473 is an excellent score. Even if crs scores go up next year, its unlikely going to affect you. And we know this program has plans to run until 2020.

I take it you have started the masters program already. I remember when entering the pool earlier this year, some members on this thread were heading for open university programs. By the first quarter of next year, we will be rejoicing with them. So you see, its all about planning. Take a bold decision and work towards it.

For your degree, you can use ICES since WAEC buhaha and verification wahala nor dey.

I only decided to do EE this year as everyone here is doing it, including PR and Kpali holders. Nothing like a fully English-speaking country!

I've decided to begin my ECA for my Nigerian Bachelors using ICES, hoping the cut off drops when I'm eligible to enter pool. Else, I'll wait till 2019 summer when I'll be on 473.

With only 4 test dates in 2018 (Feb, May, Sept and Dec), I don't really have the luxury of bimonthly test dates as you guys have in Naija so maxing out on ielts isn't a convenient option. And flying to another city isn't worth it to me from a cost benefit angle. Test cost alone is N125k.

All these could have been avoided if I had finished my program this past June. But no wahala, we'll see what the near future holds.

I wish I knew what to "school you" with because I had no preparation whatsoever for the tests apart from the Listening. I just felt Speaking and Writing particularly are natural; what you have is what you give. I read a lot from both local and foreign print media, Wikipedia, etc. so that helps I guess.

Just ensure you start with Task 2 as it carries twice more marks than Task 1. And there's a natural tendency that you'll have fresher vocabs to use in the beginning than towards the end. Also ensure you have a minute or two before time up to proofread your essays and correct possible spelling or punctuation errors.

You're right, lost 3 points to reading so couldn't reach 441. Same reading I had 8.0 in my first attempt in May . There was an unusually long final passage on Sept 8 test so I didn't finish it. I have LRSW of 8.5, 7.0, 8.0, 8.0. I don't plan to take ielts again though.

I used my naija BSc to calculate 438 and I have yet to do ECA. I'm in Europe now. Supposed to be done with my 2 year masters in June this year but I extended by 1yr for personal reasons. So till 2019.

I did ielts last month and my CRS is 438 at the moment, 2 points below the current 440. If I wait till July/Aug next year my CRS will be 473 courtesy of masters and age.
My initial plan was to wait till next year before entering pool, but my friends have been putting pressure on me to use my Nigerian BSc and apply instead, citing unfounded fears that things can change really fast by next year (EE could stop, the process and required documents can become more difficult, etc.).

The problems I have with using my naija BSc is the unnecessary stress and cost of verifying transcripts. Having to put enormous pressure on people and bribe them to do their jobs that they're paid to do is sickening to me. With European degrees, it's about one click away at almost no cost. So I'll be happy to avoid all the naija wahala especially with WES now demanding WAEC for Nigerian degrees.

Any chance the cut off will drop below 440? What's the pattern like for cut offs...does it increase or decrease at the beginning or end of the year?

It's not possible to land nearby and ferry a plane down there. The nearest country New Zealand is thousands of miles away from Antarctica. Most of the research stations are situated there while supplies to Antarctica are done by air during their 3 months of summer. ]

@explorers I am interested in knowing the kind of anti icing and de-icing system those aircrafts that lands there uses. cos under those kind of situation, static vents and pitot tubes are going to get messed up, giving false indications to the corresponding indicators....

Not to mention fuel icing, landing gear, skidding, aqua planning. too many problems for an aircraft to land in that kind of environment. except they designed a special plane to land there.....

Landing isn't a problem on ice as there specific tires that support friction on ice or snow. In temperate countries for example, people switch to winter tires once it starts snowing to avoid skidding.
Same way planes land on the Arctic which is just ice and glaciers, and not a continent.

Regarding fuel icing, fuel tanks could be insulated against cold. It's just like shutting your windows and putting on your heater during winter. Ambient temperature can be - 20'c while you have 22'c inside your home.
But high winds can be very problematic

The problem with other planets that make them uninhabitable is lack of oxygen to support life. Mars is currently being explored because there are traces of evidence that it once supported support life.

The only thing I expect from Oshiomole after 2019 is to ensure that Yeye Bello does not get the Kogi APC governorship ticket. Such a misrepresentation of the youths in public office!

The reason I hate PDP so much and the looting they represent... Rich states like Delta and Bayelsa that should have turned to semi-Dubai in 16yrs are owing months of unpaid salaries.

...And that was how Rochas made APC lose Imo state in 2019 by imposing an unpopular in-law as the APC's candidate.

APC will do very well in the presidential election in Imo state and Rochas will win his Senatorial election, but Ihedioha will win the governorship election in February.

Even though I expect a departure from our electoral past where blatant rigging was the order of the day in several elections under PDP, I have eventually realised that it takes two to tango.

In Ekiti, APC responded to Fayose's stomach infrastructure and vote buying, by out buying him as the only way to defeat PDP.
In Osun as incumbent, they didn't see any need to do same as I predicted earlier. What was the result? PDP (they can never change) almost bought Osun votes into office. The APC's strategy was to deploy security, arrest vote buyers and hope for victory. But you can't always catch all the thieves.

All the videos and pictures I saw of vote buyers caught were PDP agents. No surprise that they did so well even in APC strongholds.
As APC got a chance through the supplementary election, they now used Omisore and Adeoti, intimidation and vote buying to eventually coast home. That was their revenge.

What I've realised is that all Nigerian politicians and parties can never agree to a free and fair electoral system. ONE party must always device means to outsmart the others.
Till it happens that no singular candidate tries to form Political Tortoise, may the best rigger win.
