Apportion some to treasury bills... I think the rates are higher now but find out.
Real estate in my opinion isn't a very motivating investment. Unless you may buy something cheap, reno and flip but a lot of factors have to fall in place for it to work.
Other higher yield businesses though they come with risk.
I think one or two legacy coins may be a good buy if the purchase is minimal. It is not very attractive at the moment but it is bound to pick up as crypto isn't going away; my opinion.
Stocks. Like some US companies but research well. Even the highly rated Tesla stock dipped appreciably if I remember well.

Cantonese: Rubbish.
That was a very hypocritical arrest. Surely nothing will come out of it. Kunle Poly last weekend said that he had begged MC Oluomo in the presence of Gov Sanwo Olu and the IG. That is enough to tell us that NURTW and agberoism are part of Lagos state and fully supported by the state.
Last week when government pegged the rate drivers pay daily at N800, MC Oluomo right there said that the amount has nothing to do with the N3,000 paid daily by drivers to NURTW. The audacity was unbelievable. Oshiomole was an APC governor, but he effectively checkmated the excesses of the union in Edo state at his tenure.
It is very unfortunate that governance has degenerated to this very poor level where thugs and touts determine the affairs of the state.
I recall that Buba Marwa, when he was the governor of Lagos state, clipped the wings of this union and they were nowhere to be found in Lagos state until he left. The man who became the governor from 1999 - 2007 fully employed them and used them as potent weapons to win elections. The same happened in Oyo state. Now in a lot of areas you find NURTW members taking over the duties of the police by controlling traffic. The police are deeply complicit in this menace going on the state and making life difficult for people. The daily take of some chronic corrupt police people has made them relinquish their roles to touts.
It is no longer a secret that members of the NURTW give daily/weekly/monthly returns to the powers above to secure their positions.
It is a disgrace that a state like Lagos termed a mega city cannot take charge of transportation. Ambode was at the verge of taking charge of public transportation when he was ingloriously removed by the oga above and his group. Transportation world wide is largely government controlled. When will a mega city like Lagos get out of this mess with this transport Union and let the citizens have some peace? Well said. |

Distilling from comments here - informed or not - I would opine that a company such as MainOne should in the future, be designated something in the ilk of Companies Strategic to Preserving National Security, CSPNS.
For the mere fact that a horde of Nigerian banking institutions and other sensitive agencies rely on their channels for data traffic, encrypted or not, is to me, enough impetus for a governmental bailout where VC funding, an IPO (if feasible), or closely vetted merger (not full blown acquisition), is not agreeable.
No, MainOne isn’t exactly a data mining venture like Facebook etc but is still a potential treasure trove for foreign parties interested in undermining national security. This may be through hacking or other disruptive means, nonetheless, the consequences could be grace.
Just imagine China allowing Facebook to acquire TikTok.
You tink say na beans make US clamp down on ByteDance (TikTok). They understand these fundamentals, and beyond. |

Music studio? Tread very carefully.
Unless you have a sure means to secure stream of clientele. Location, network and investment level also matter.
Same for rehearsal studios which is a better bet generally, at least in my opinion but I’ve come across a relatively new (about one year plus) rehearsal studio barely getting any work.
Much of what we hear as published music is produced in bedrooms and private spaces. There is still the need for professional studios at least for mixing and mastering though. |

Business › Re: In Defense Of Aliko Dangote By Oluwole Dada by overboard(m): 10:16am On May 16, 2021 |
Oluwole Dada is trying to make sense but his points, save for Cost Leadership - and in Dangote’s case is somewhat questionable or how it’s achieved is likely due to effects of favouritsm - so I’d beg to differ.
Differentiation is a factor he also mentioned and that totally misses the mark. He’s just made mention of a phenomenon that is not applicable to Dangote’s products. Dangote does not produce any product in the technology sector that fits into the form of what the gentleman is using as defense.
If he is talking about differentiation as may be applied to a wide range of product offerings across categories, then that makes it even more confusing...
Perhaps price differentiation is true for Dangote products, I can’t independently confirm as my personal experience doesn’t seem to support it. I could be wrong though.
However, for features, no; coverage, maybe; reputation, maybe.
Even using focus as a strategy leaves me miffed as he fails to hammer on how exactly Aliko utilizes this.
I’m still learning but to me, laser beam focus is not present at Dangote Industries as Dangote is a branded house with diverse products unless he means each category he enters into, he tops it through focus. Tell that to the marines when we talk of his noodles/flour foray.
Nonetheless, Dangote does employ tens of thousands of Nigerians and the impact of this singled out without reference to the alleged favoured-by-government and other perceived crimes is laudable.
And given the same opportunity, some may not be able to convert that grace to the money-spinning world class industries as Dangote has and for that at least, some enviable measure of intelligence and entrepreneurial prowess is present. |

CSoul: (Created this new account to post for a sister)
Please help advice a sister in confusion.....
Background:
"I reconnected with my old school toaster who always spoke marriage and love. Got serious in 5 months. I've met a lot of people from his end within this period. He shows me off. Introduction was done and wedding date fixed."
Issues: Traditional is barely a week away; yet she's bleeding and scared of the future because of her discoveries:
1. The husband to be has anger issues. Ok, he's all nice and good when in good mood. But once something triggers him, all hell is let loose. The trigger can be a simple missing his call(while at work/meeting). No amount of sweet talk or explanations calms him down.
2. The shocker is that he cheats/has a fuckmate living nearby. She discovered this with evidence from their chats and hasn't been herself. The chat is detailed description of their exploits right up to the present and future plans how they'll continue after he's married. (From same chat, the other lady is aware he's getting married. He tried denying it; when it didn't work he started making excuses/begging he'll change.
3. He doesn't want any third party intervention in their affairs, not even counseling.
She's scared of the future and yet feels stuck as court marriage is done already, most preparations have been done(publicity and most of other physical arrangements), both for the traditional and wedding.
Kindly give your mature advice; she'll be reading every bit of it. (Admin kindly push to front page) I’m a guy and all I can say is: “Run! Deng-deng-deng-deng-deng-deng-deng...” |

The OP is a learner! Well done. Kudos to @HEAVEN4444 and @ZooOga as well for the Sugar Hill mention. That’s was one of the first times I particularly witnessed anything Nigerian-related in a Hollywood movie. Miami Vice of the 80’s did however had an episode about drugs from Nigeria. “President Buhari” was literally predicted to be in a season of 24 that I can’t remember. One stupid movie used our coat of arms in a letterhead for something utterly unrelated to Nigeria. I think it is Children of Men, a movie featuring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Clive Owens amongst other had a wailing song In Igbo. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje in prison series Oz in a scene where he was about to fight I think), said “Oya”. If I remember anymore I’ll update this post. |

You should’ve named the person or people na.
Anyway, I don’t disagree.
This album by my standards was just ok, notin mega and I’d pick Fireboy DML’s over it... I even prefer African Giant to Twice As Tall.
However, it may sound simplistic but could very well have helped are my postulations below:-
I. Diddy’s influence as executive producer is likely the number one factor and may be key;
II. The inclusion of a network some individuals, directly or by proxy like Timbalnd, renowned Youssou N'Dour, Marc Anthony etc
III. All these capped with an earlier nomination, Angelique Kidjo’s dedication of her win then to him; his bold calling-out attitude i.e. SWXSW and resultant higher visibility and so on
Note: Solely my opinion.
Congrats Burna. |
