Democracy is a process and not an event.

We need different kinds of sceneries to come up to test the dept and nature of our democracy.

However, anyone that has a good understanding of presidential elections in this country will know that the PDP is presently disadvantaged and will need a lot of political engineering in the next 12 months to be in a position to win the presidential election.

Burning of INEC offices with electoral materials means that votes from that axis will be low.

Every party (especially an opposition party that want to dislodge an incumbent party) needs a lot of votes to win.

With this arrangement or should I say permutations? Any Igbo man that partakes in the Nigerian election 2023 is a bastard and should be regarded as an outcast knowing fully well that igbos have been schemed out again as usual. We can't continue to vote in others year in year out with the others considering one of our own as good enough and you expect me to continue to queue in the hot sun to vote while I remain a second class citizen of my own country

Igbos, now is the time to give up on the Nigerian project because Nigeria has no plans to integrate us into her. Quit the illusion that an Igbo man will ever rule this country. It's not happening, not in this generation at least

I was an advocate for Igbo presidency 2023, A United Nigeria where justice strives but with this,my heart is broken to shreds and I don't think it can be sown again

Igbo leaders, shame on you all. The scheming out started the moment the Igbo leaders allowed python dance one and two. The orchestrators knowing fully well that igbos have sympathy for Biafra manipulated the Eastern leaders into queing with their evil plan of gazzetting IPOB as terrorist group, this singular act was where the Eastern governors and other leaders lost the people as well as the chance to produce the next president of this country. Now everything is lost ,I wonder what the likes of Umahi and other leaders will be feeling like now, knowing that the igbos are not even considered good enough for even vice president position,A supposed majority tribe ooo

Praxis758:
These are brainwashed folks.

This is a total distortion of history and chronology.

The scriptures is very clear in explaining how the 'lost tribes of israel' came about. Pls read this following:

1Chronicle 5 : 23 - 26
23 So the children of the half-tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land. Their numbers increased from Bashan to Baal Hermon, that is, to Senir, or Mount Hermon.

24 These were the heads of their fathers’ houses: Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah, and Jahdiel. They were mighty men of valor, famous men, and heads of their fathers’ houses.

25 And they were unfaithful to the God of their fathers, and played the harlot after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God had destroyed before them.

26 So the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, that is, Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria. He carried the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh into captivity. He took them to Halah, Habor, Hara, and the river of Gozan to this day.

I hope those unambiguous scripture passages settle and clarify the etiology of the lost tribe of Israel.

And it must be noted that none of the jews historians both old and contemporary has research works or writings that supports all these fallacies by the Igbos.

I'm sure the Igbos do not know better that than Josephus who was a contemporary of Jesus and whose writings about the Israelites are still regarded as the best piece in secular narration.

So all these shameful lies about Gad and Eri must stop.
How can you know the history of a people more than the people?

Saraki is a confirmed betrayer. He is lobbying for the South to product PDP Chairman so that the Presidency will be zoned to the North. He will never die well. This idiot has refused to accept the fact that he will never be Nigeria's President. The reason is simple. The Hausa/Fulani/Kanuri will never give their slot to a Kwara man whom everybody knows is a Yoruba man. The Yorubas will nevr ever give their slot to an Ilorin man whose forefathers betrayed the Yorubas and who he himself has been betraying Yorubas and claiming he is a Northerner. It's so simple.
Rotational presidency between the North and South will make it difficult for Ilorin people to become president because of their dual identities.

People who aren't members of any political parties make childish comments like this.

1) Politics is about interests. Every have certain personal interests.

2) For ordinary citizens (masses) like you that don't get anything directly from the Government, your interests may be limited to having someone from your tribe become the president or preventing someone from a tribe that you hate.

3) For peoples that are members of a political party, they have other interests that goes beyond tribes.

For floor members of political parties that attend rallies from one town to another, singing, dancing and shanting party slogans , they aren't just doing all these because of tribes but for what they stand to gain if their parties come to power e.g contracts to supply wooden planks to roof the community primary school, employment slots in NSCDS, N-power, FRSC etc.

For upper echelon of the party, they will support their parties to win because they they will be in power as LG chairmen, House of Assembly members, Governors, Senators , Ministers etc.

Timi Sylva worked for APC victory in 2015 to earn a Ministerial post , despite being a kinsman and a former beneficiary of GEJ.

Rotimi Amaechi also worked for the APC despite being close to GEJ.

Bro...in all honesty should PDP field atiku/obi and APC field a southwestern... i doubt APC will win 5 of the southeast states and 6 of the South states which they've never won in a presidential election

Then you have core northern states like sokoto, kanu, jigawa remove taraba 11 of those northern states may vote Atiku plus Niger State

The north I know dont vote along party lines but ethnicity

If the south west is really fair and just let the southeast be given the Presidency slot...you dont go tell me that there is no eligible south easterner in APC. The PDP you mentioned is desperate to claim power from APC come 2023 not the ibos fault that the best they can get is a VP slot and if that is the only available role for them.... forget a south westerner winning in the SS/SE
You guys keep making the same mistakes;

1) Nobody is giving anybody presidential ticket.

2) It's NOT the Yorubas that are preventing S/East candidates from contesting.

At least, there's no formidable Yoruba presidential aspirant in the PDP, yet the party is not considering an Igbo politician for it's presidential ticket.

3) A student who is not preparing to write JAMB shouldn't be insisting that his parents mustn't pay his brother's JAMB exam.

In the North we don't follow political parties, we voted APC, a political newcomer, over the more established PDP. The real issue is, why would the North vote a christian-southern-pastor over a Northern Muslim?

It is not by force to support other regions over your own region. Your region is welcome to field anyone you wish, and your people are welcome to vote anyone you wish. No pressure.

However, the realities on ground are not about emotions and sentiment. It is about bridge building, the North is building bridges to the SE out of fairness and we believe they will do the right thing at the right time.
What exactly do you mean by the North and why do you think everybody in this North are voting for the same candidate?

Political parties determine the performance of a candidate in an election. There's no mistake about this simple fact.

By Feb, 2015 the APC had become the largest party in the North.

If Buhari had contested the election under the banner of SDP, Labour Party or APGA, he would have lost.

You don't understand it well.

In this era of rotational presidency between the North and the South, whose slot will Saraki be using? Will it be counted as the North retaining power or power shifting to the South?

After Saraki's 8 year tenure, will Northerners still be clamouring for power shift to the North or regard Saraki's tenure as their tenure and allow power to go to the South?

In presidential elections, numerous interests comes into play and 2023 won't be different.

1) The interests of the PDP to return to power.
2) The Interests of Atiku to be elected president.

3) The interests of the S/East in the presidency.

4) The Interest of the S/West in the presidency.

5) Interests of the massess.

There is nothing like Southern President, say the truth, Southeast should produce the next President if we are honest to ourselves and want justice, equity and fairness in Nigeria sad

If Yorubas truly want a southern unity, they ought to allow equity, fairness and unity in the south for once by burying their 2023 presidential ambition for Southeast.

Yoruba man, Obasanjo ruled Nigeria from 1999 to 2006.

Another Yoruba man is current vice president since 2015 to end in 2023.

If Yorubas are honest enough, they ought to bury their 2023 presidential agenda as a sacrifice to unite Southern Nigeria, and watch how Igbos will reciprocate this love going forward.

But if Yorubas insist that its all by politics and that Presidency is not given on platter of gold like they always say to taunt and mock Igbos for asking to produce the next President of Nigeria come 2023, then there is nothing like Southern unity or Presidential zoning at all in Nigeria. In that case, Northerners have equal right to produce the next President cos there is no sincerity in the Southern clamor to produce next president if the South isn't rooting for Igbo presidency.
So you think the reason why there's no strong contender from the SE is because of Yoruba presidential ambition?

If no Yoruba is running for the presidency, will this automatically make a S/East candidate to win the presidential primaries of the PDP or APC and eventually the 2023 presidential election?

Nigeria came out of the Civil War as a Nation after the War had been won. You may not agree but that was what happened after people fought and died for it because of the Faith they had that it was the Nation that the Almighty had given them.
In Nigeria, a man who is from I'm State, who did NYSC in Katsina and joined Katsina State civil service in 2003 and Katsina State still employe him on contract basis and refuse to give him permanent appointment because he is originally from Imo State.

In a nation, there's equality of citizens and the citizens see themselves as one.

PDP is prepared to offer the NC/NE the presidency, 2 regions that have never held such a position. I personally think the NC should be given the ticket for national unity, however the internal workings will reveal how things go as time moves forward. Moreover, the SE will be given the VP ticket, this is true inclusion. What is the better offer for the SE or NC/NE? The answer is nothing.

APC wants to give a region that will have 16 years as President/VP the ticket again before others in the south. This will spell doom for APC as NW/NE/NC + SE/SS equals victory. The SW is politically isolated. The only way to beat the North is for APC to offer the ticket to the NC/NE before PDP does.

Politics is about uniting interests of various parties, not selfish ambition of party members.
Political parties determine 70% of the success in presidential election.

If the election is conducted today, the PDP will be defeated because the party is weak. They will need to do a lot of political engineering between now and 15 months if they hope to win in the 2023 presidential election.
