I hope there is a fire extinguisher nearby. |
I really do not understand why Customs seizes tramadol, when it has not been banned. Just because a drug is alleged to be abused by some people does not mean that the drug is not useful when taken appropriately. |
Compulsory use of the railways for transporting cargo may sound good, but how practical would the implementation be? Has the federal government assessed the volume of cargo that is transported along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway each day and night, and whether the railways can handle such volume daily unfailingly? If use of the railways is to be enforced, it should not be done immediately, but after at least two years from a public announcement, to enable businesses to adjust. Alternative road routes should be created, because trucks would still be needed one way or another. |
So what was their offence? Living above their means? ![]() Well, a person who is arrested has a right to remain silent. |
I really do not understand the purpose for this order when tramadol has not been banned. Just because a drug is alleged to be abused by some people does not mean that the drug is not useful when taken appropriately. Did the federal high court seek the advice of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) before making the order? |
If it costs N57,600 to apply for a US visa, and the US embassy 'processes' one thousand applications a day, then we are simply giving the US government N57.6m each working day, for mostly visa denials. As long as the money keeps coming in, the US embassy will not stop this 'business'. Boycott the US visa application if possible. If you must travel abroad (and there is nothing wrong with this), consider another country. Nigerians should be sensitized against wasting hard-earned money on a foreign entity, especially when there is no positive result. |
One reason why Nigeria is number 2 on that list is because of its population. These are the HIV rates, in percentage, among different countries. Countries With the Highest Rates of HIV/AIDS Rank Country Rate of HIV/AIDS Prevalence 1 Swaziland 27.2% 2 Lesotho 25.0% 3 Botswana 21.9% 4 South Africa 18.9% 5 Namibia 13.8% 6 Zimbabwe 13.5% 7 Zambia 12.4% 8 Mozambique 12.3% 9 Malawi 9.2% 10 Uganda 6.5% 11 Equatorial Guinea 6.2% 12 Kenya 5.4% 13 Tanzania 4.7% 14 Central African Republic 4.0% 15 Cameroon 3.8% 16 Gabon 3.6% 17 Bahamas, The 3.3% 18 Rwanda 3.1% 19 Congo, Republic of the 3.1% 20 Guinea-Bissau 3.1% 21 Nigeria 2.9% 22 Cote d'Ivoire 2.7% 23 South Sudan 2.7% 24 USA 2.4% 25 Haiti 2.1% 26 Togo 2.1% 27 Angola 1.9% 28 Belize 1.8% 29 Sierra Leone 1.7% 30 Gambia, The 1.7% 31 Jamaica 1.7% 32 Liberia 1.6% 33 Guyana 1.6% 34 Ghana 1.6% 35 Guinea 1.5% 36 Suriname 1.4% 37 Barbados 1.3% 38 Djibouti 1.3% 39 Chad 1.3% 40 Trinidad and Tobago 1.2% 41 Thailand 1.1% 42 Ethiopia 1.1% 43 Burundi 1.1% 44 Benin 1.0% 45 Mali 1.0% 46 Dominican Republic 1.0% 47 Ukraine 0.9% 48 Papua New Guinea 0.9% 49 Cabo Verde 0.8% 50 Panama 0.8% worldatlas.com/articles/countries-with-the-highest-rates-of-hiv-aids.html |
Where is this house located? Which country? Which city? |
She was able to block the exit, because that branch has only one entrance/exit. Each bank branch should have at least two entrances/exits for customers. |

What is disheartening are the non-refundable fees that the applicants pay for a visa refusal. It is obvious that the US embassy and consulates are being maintained by visa application fees. As long as the money keeps flowing in, they will continue this mode of operation. Who would reject a 'business' of making N57.6m each working day? What can we do? If a foreign entity snubs you, you may snub them back. Only apply for a US visa if it is very important to you and there is no other option. Boycott the US visa application if possible. Consider the US visa application as a gamble; only pay the application fees with money that you can afford to lose (in other words, money that you do not need for anything else). Non-governmental organizations (NGOs), agents and lawyers, who are involved in immigration issues may start a campaign against US visa applications. Let the general public be sensitized against wasting hard-earned money on a foreign entity, especially when there is no positive result. |
Declaring a national holiday for democracy, whether May 29 or June 12, is not necessary. |
Is the $7m a grant (as suggested by the headline) or a loan? Passion2009:There is a law in Lagos, which restricts prospective students, who do not have a credit in Yoruba, from admission into Lagos State tertiary institutions. Has this been taken into consideration as regards attracting foreign students? |
Amaka should have seen the red flag when her 'friend' asked her to withdraw N5m in cash. If the amount transferred was an error, she should have insisted in transferring the money back to the same account that the funds came from. |
A common currency for West Africa in 2020? What is the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank's position on this issue? |
MyVILLAGEpeople:It's actually 19 million Singapore dollars, which is equivalent to 13.7 million US dollars. (It's still a lot of money.) |
What is 'monkey tail'? |

Even if the man is found, it will be difficult to prove that he used fake currency for the purchase. The case would have been stronger if the fake currency had been detected at the point of the transaction. |
It's a sad situation, but action still needs to be taken. A relationship between two countries should be based on reciprocity. If one country (in this case Ghana) becomes hostile, then the other country (Nigeria) should fight back. There is such a thing called economic sanctions or retaliatory measures. On the part of Nigerian traders in Ghana, there is what is called 'plan B'. If the Ghanaian government does not soften its stance against Nigerian traders, then realize that Ghana is not the only country where you can do business. Leave the country. Look for another country that is more business friendly towards Nigerians. You may even campaign against Nigerians going for education in Ghana. If when you were a 'small boy' (in business), your host country (Ghana) was hostile towards you, is it when you are a 'big boy', with one million dollars or more, that you will now rush to Ghana to go and invest? |
Mztarstrechy:'Mere' church members? What kind of reporting is this? |
Does fibroid prevent pregnancy? |
thorpido:I didn't notice the misleading headline initially. There is certainly a difference between 'cut' and 'cut off'. We have not heard from the other side, so it is difficult to conclude from the man's allegations. |
If the mother refuses to take her daughter to the hospital for surgery, and the child's life is at risk, then a court order should be obtained to temporarily take the child from the mother's custody, and permission given to the hospital to perform the surgery with or without the mother's consent. |
On the surface, no offence by the man has been proved yet. However, even if the police wouldn't arrest him, they should have at least taken him away for his protection from the crowd. Issakendrick:Was he trying to avoid the hassle of applying for another SIM or was he trying to avoid being identified and investigated? |
FYTnRUN:You may be right, but some would argue that an accomplice has to be present at the crime scene. However, the boy posing behind may be arrested for being an accessory before the fact. |
If these reports are true, were the accounts frozen by EFCC directly or were the accounts frozen by a court order? |
Can EFCC freeze bank accounts without a court order? |
I don't think it's possible to enforce a ban on the use of smart phones at polling units. The polling unit is a public place, usually on the street or at a school compound. |
Does EFCC have the right to freeze a person's bank account without a court order? |
Why was the lawyer arrested? If the police have a case against the lawyer, they should charge him to court. Otherwise, he should be released. |
