Religion / Understanding What Faith Is. Part 66. by PastorSomba(m): 5:18pm On Feb 23, 2023
UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 66.

Colossians 1:16-17 (KJV) "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist."

66. In the old testament and under the law faith could not be revealed because man did not own all things in heaven, earth and under the earth. But in the man Jesus all things in heaven, earth and under neath the earth now belongs to man. As a result, by faith in Christ Jesus we can believe for all things and receive all things in heaven, earth and underneath. The man Jesus now owns all things and in Him and through faith in Him and in His name, all things are ours and all things are possible to him that believes in His name. Faith only believes and receives what belongs to him. Faith does not believe or receive what does not belong to him. Hence for your faith to work you must believe that what you are asking God to give or what you are demanding in the name of Jesus already belongs to you in Christ Jesus.

Most people's faith fail because they go to God begging God to give them something, believing that since it belongs to God if they can cry enough and beg God enough He will have pity on them and give them what they are asking for. This is not Christianity. This mentality is very common among those who do not see themselves as sons of God but as poor sinners who repented of their sins, confessed their sins and God forgave them and saved them. So they are to go through life doing everything possible to make it to heaven and begging God to help them from time to time of need. They live in constant fear, doubt, anxiety and unbelief that they might not make to heaven and that they are not entitled to any thing good in this world. They believe more in the power of the devil on earth than that of God. They see themselves constantly unworthy before God. But in Christ Jesus we are worthy and very precious to God because we have been accepted in the beloved.

For such Christians God is only a visitor that comes once in a while to help if we pray, fast, cry and beg Him enough. They don't see God as a Father and they don't know God as a Father. They own nothing and unconsciously they believe the devil owns everything. God cannot give you what does not belong to you. God cannot give you what you do not believe belongs to you. The prodigal son and his elder brother in Luke 15:11-32 is a very good example. While the prodigal son knows and believes all that the father owns belongs to him by inheritance, on the other hand the elder brother believes he owns nothing so he has to work hard to please the father so that the father can give him something. God only gives us by faith what already belongs to us in Christ Jesus. As a believer you are born of the word and it is the word that created all things for Himself and for His pleasure which includes you. Grace be with you. Galatians 3:16-29; Philippians 2:5-11; John 1:1-3; 8:44; 10:10; 11:45; 14:13-14; Matthew 7:7; Mark 9:23; 11:23-24; 1Corinthians 3:21-23; Luke 1:37,45; James 1:5-8; Ephesians 1:3,6-7,14,19-23; 2Peter 1:3-4; Revelation 4:11; Hebrews 1:1-3; 1Peter 2:23; Psalm 24:1; 50:10-12; Haggai 2:8; Ezekiel 18:4; Acts 20:28; Colossians 3:1-4;

If you need healing the bible says in Matthew 8:17 that Jesus Himself took all our sicknesses and diseases. Therefore you can receive your healing now by faith in the name of Jesus. Just lay your hand on the affected area of your body and say this prayer. Father God in the name of Jesus I believe that Jesus died for my healing. I believe He took all my sickness and diseases on the cross. If He took them, then I cannot have them. Therefore I resist and I reject every sickness in my body and I confess Jesus today as my healer and I receive my healing now. Thank you Jesus that I am healed. 1Peter 2:24; Ps 107:20.
Now begin to do what you couldn't do before because of the sickness. You are healed in Jesus name.

Heaven is real, Hell is real. Jesus is coming very soon. Judgement Day is coming. But you can become a born again child of God today. The bible says If you shalt confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, you shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10; John 1:12.

Say this prayer: Father God have mercy on me. I come to you today in the name of Jesus. I believe in my heart that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe that He died for me. I believe that you raised Him from the dead for my salvation. I accept Jesus in my heart today and I confess Him today as my Lord and Saviour. Thank you Father that today I am saved In Jesus name.

If you prayed the prayer of Salvation, pls go to a nearby bible believing Church in your area, so you can grow in the grace of our Lord Jesus. Grace be with you. To Jesus be all the glory.

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 65.

Colossians 1:16-17 (KJV) "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist."

65. Faith Is Based On The Ownership Of All Things. Your faith cannot work if you don't believe that what you are demanding from God is not already yours. All things were created by the word. So whoever is born of the word, whoever belongs to the word, whoever believes the word, and whoever lives by the word owns all things which the word owns. Faith in the word is taking possessions of all that the words owns, all that the word gives and all that the word created. Faith like love believes all things and takes all. The faith of God through Christ offered us all that God owns and God has, hence he that walks and lives by faith owns all that faith offers. The bible says Romans 8:32 (KJV) "He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?" 1Corinthians 3:21-23 (KJV) "Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your's; 22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are your's; 23 And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's."

Faith only exist and faith can only functions where all things are available and are offered to all freely without any discrimination or respect of persons. Faith was not revealed in the old testament because all things were not available for them to receive. The devil was still the god of this world. The devil owned all things in the world which he offered to Jesus at the temptation in Matthew 4:8-10. When God created the man Adam He handed over the world, the earth all things in it to Adam. Adam was the god of this world before he committed high treason and handed over all things to the devil who became the god of this world. You cannot exercise faith over what does not belong to you. As long as the devil owned all things God cannot offer all things to anyone. Jesus came as the last Adam to take back what the first Adam gave to the devil. In Christ Jesus, the word of God who created all things died, redeemed and purchased all things back by His blood.

Until Jesus came defeated the devil and took over all the power and authority of the devil, then were all things available to all believers in Jesus and all believers in His word. Jesus the word of God made flesh not only took over all things in heaven and earth from the devil, He also took over all the kingdom of the devil. Jesus destroyed sin and took over all the power and authority of death and hell, and He set up the lake of fire as the eternal prison for the devil, all evil spirits, hell and death and all who rejects His Lordship over all things. Not only that, by the victory of Jesus even all things in heaven were also made available and offered to all who believe hence the bible says Ephesians 1:3, 8, 10, 22-23 (KJV) "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:....8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;.....10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:....22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all."

When the devil sinned he and his angels were cast down from the third heaven where God and other angels dwell. But the devil and his angels were not denied access into the heavens as we see in the book of Job 1:6-12 and in the book of Daniel 10:13,20 and also as they are called wicked spirits in the heavenly places on Ephesians 6:12. So now in the new testament even though the devil and all his kingdom have been defeated by Jesus the last Adam and all power and authority restored back to the man Jesus, the devil is still here because the lease tenure which God gave to Adam is not yet over. The tenure of this lease is only known to the Father, even Jesus does not know. It is the father who will tell Jesus when the times comes to come for the rapture of His church and His second coming. Grace be with you. John 1:1-3,12-14; 3:16; 14:13-14; 16:23; Revelation 4:11; Colossians 1:16-20; 2:11-15; Ephesians 3:9; 1Corinthians 8:6; 13:7; Romans 6:3-14; 11:36; Hebrews 2:10,14-15; 9:26; 1Peter 1:23; 1John 3:8-9; James 1:18; Philippians 2:5-11; Mark 9:23; 16:15-20; 1Timothy 2:1-5; 2Corinthians 4:3-4; Genesis 1:26-29; 3:1-24; Matthew 28:18-20; 2Timothy 1:10; Revelation 1:18; 19:20; 20:10,14-15; Luke 10:19;

Religion / Understanding What Faith Is. Part 64. by PastorSomba(m): 3:41pm On Feb 21, 2023
UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 64.

Hebrews 1:2 (KJV) "Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;"
Romans 8:16-17 (KJV) "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ;...."

64. Faith is Based On Inheritance. An inheritance is an irreversible and irrevocable gift from a father to his children through his written will. It is irreversible and irrevocable because the testator, the father or writer of the will is dead. So God in Christ Jesus died in order to pass all He has and all his creation to us His sons as inheritance. The word of God is God's last will. Faith receives only what belongs to him by inheritance. As a result only sons can have faith. Hence faith was not revealed until the new testament when God began to have sons in Christ Jesus. John 1:12-13 (KJV) "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." Only sons can exercise faith to receive from God as a Father. Servants and slaves cannot have faith and cannot exercise faith. The word of God is the will of God that tells us and shows us what belongs to us by inheritance as sons of God, so that by faith we can receive them. God created and owns all things by the word. In the word we see the substance of all that we are hoping for and in the word we have all the evidence that all things are ours by inheritance.

Jesus the son of God and the word of God is the heir or owner of all things by inheritance as the first begotten son of the Father. As sons of God in Him and of Him we are also joint heirs and co-owners of all things by inheritance with Him. Faith receive only what is given by inheritance not what you labour for or what you earned. Abraham was said to have faith because God offered him by inheritance the whole world. God demanded faith from the Israelites to take the promised land because it was based on the inheritance promised to their father Abraham. Hence of all the sins the Israelites committed in the wilderness only the sin of unbelief hindered them from the inheritance. The bible says Romans 4:13 (KJV) For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. As the faith children of Abraham the whole world belongs to us. So in Christ Jesus by inheritance all things are ours.

We exercise faith to receive only what is already ours by inheritance, not what is ours by works or self righteousness. And not what is going to be ours but what is already ours. Faith is not trying to get something from God or a means of getting something from God but a means of receiving or taking delivery of what belongs to us. Faith is how we possess our possessions. Faith is not a means of getting God to do something for us or a means of persuading or convincing God to do something for us. On the contrary faith is how we became persuaded and convinced through the word of God what God has already done for us and given to us. So for your faith to work you must first of all know and believe that all things are already yours and that whatever you need now is already yours even before the need came. Whatever we are asking for in prayer, or confessing or commanding, we must believe before, during and after we have prayed, confessed and commanded that they are already ours. They are not ours because we asked or demanded for them, they had been ours in Christ Jesus before the foundation of the world. God has been waiting for us to ask and receive all that belongs to us in Christ Jesus.

All things are already ours waiting for us to receive them, not for God to give them to us. It is not when we prayed or asked that God will give them to us. No, God had already in Christ Jesus before we were born given them to us only waiting for us to know it by the word and release our faith to receive them freely unconditionally. The only condition for receiving in the new testament is by faith. Jesus showed that as an example in His earthly ministry. No one was healed or blessed through Him except by their faith. No one merited to be healed and no one was qualified to be healed except their faith. Even those who were disqualified because they were not Israelites, their faith qualified them. Those who failed to believe failed to receive from Jesus.

So receiving in the new testament is not a matter of power or anointing or self righteousness but of faith. Jesus was anointed beyond measure yet only those with faith received from that unlimited power or anointing. God is able to do for us exceeding abundantly only according to our faith. Your faith determine the level of the omnipotent power of God available for you. It is like a well, whatever you use to draw water from the well will determine the quantity of water you will get. Grace be with you. Romans 4:13-25; 8:14-17; Galatians 3:26-29; Ephesians 1:3-8; 3:6; Titus 3:7; 1Corinthians 3:21-23; Hebrews 1:5-6,14; 3:19; 4:2,6; 5:5; 6:17; 11:9; James 2:5; 1John 3:1-2; 4:9; John 1:1-3,14; 3:16; Colossians 1:16-20; Revelation 1:5; Matthew 7:7; 8:5-13,26; 9:2,29; Mark 5:34; 6:1-6; 9:23; 11:23-24; 14:31; 15:28; 17:17-20; Luke 1:38,45; 17:14; Ephesians 3:20;

Religion / Understanding What Faith Is. Part 63. by PastorSomba(m): 1:53pm On Feb 20, 2023
UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 63.

Hebrews 11:1, 6 (KJV) "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.....But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

63. The evidence of faith are those scriptures that personalize the promises and blessings of God to you. For example to be saved you must believe in your heart that Jesus died for you and accept Him as your personal Lord and Saviour. According to John 3:16 Jesus came for the salvation of the world. His coming and dying for the world is only a substance of hope for salvation. But that will not save you unless you find an evidence of scriptures that tells you salvation belongs to you personally. It does not matter how holy you live, how long you pray and beg God and how much of your sins you confess, you can't be saved. Only finding the evidence and personalising it as required in Romans chapter ten will save you. Romans 10:9-10,13 (KJV) "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation...... For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Most of the times evidence of faith come in past tense meaning it is already done. They also carry such words like 'Whosoever' making it personal and available to all to receive. The law was not of faith because it was not personalised and it was not available to all men but only to the nation of Israel. While the covenant of the law was corporate with all Israel, but the new covenant is personal with Christ. Only what is available personally to you can be received by faith. Faith is always personal. God cannot give you what belongs to someone else or what belongs to all of us together as that will be coveteousness. Except of course a father or mother's faith can stand for their young children and a Master's faith can stand for his servant because they are under their authority but only in limited area such as healing but not salvation.

So the evidence of faith is the personalisation and taking possession of a promise or blessing that it is already yours now. For example all power and authority has been given to us in Christ Jesus so we can command even the mountains. Mark 11:23-24 (KJV) "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." A story or account of healing in the bible or a testimony is not an evidence that you are already healed. You must get the specific word of God that tells you it is already yours and stand on that. It is standing on such scripture that is called faith. For example in John 4:50 and Mark 7:29-30 Jesus gave specific words upon which the Noble man and the Syropheonecian woman based their faith to receive healing for the servant and the daughter respectively.

While the substance, hope or assurance of faith is based on the general promises and blessings of God but the evidence of faith is based on specific scriptures that has appropriated the blessings or promises to you personally already. While the substance of the word tells you healing belongs to you but the evidence of the word tells you that you are already healed in Christ Jesus. God is not planning to heal you but has already healed you in Christ according to 1Peter 2:24; Matthew 8:17; Psalm 107:20. It is not your prayer or fasting or service in church or giving that will make God to heal you. Except of course you receive the spoken word of God to you personally to do any of these in order to receive your healing. Such may be substance of faith but not evidence of faith. Prayer, fasting, service, giving, etc are only how we position ourselves to receive the evidence of faith on what God has already provided in Christ Jesus. Grace be with you. Ephesians 1:3-14; Acts 17:28; Colossians 13-20; 2:9-15; 2Corinthians 5:17-21; John 1:12-13; 14:13-14; 16:23; 1John 3:1-2; Mark 5:25-43; Matthew 8:5-13; 28:18;

Therefore I resist and I reject every sickness in my body and I confess Jesus today as my healer and I receive my healing now. Thank you Jesus that I am healed. 1Peter 2:24; Ps 107:20.

Religion / Understanding What Faith Is. Part 62 by PastorSomba(m): 3:16pm On Feb 18, 2023
UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 62

Hebrews 11:1, 6 (KJV) "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.....But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

62. The second aspect of faith is the evidence. What is the evidence of faith? The bible says "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Based on this scriptural definition of faith, the evidence is the proof that the substance you are hoping for is already yours even though you have yet seen the manifestation. The evidence of faith is not based on what God wants to do or willing to do or is able to do but on what God has already done for you in Christ Jesus. The evidence of faith are not the promises of God to us but the blessings of God given to us already in Christ Jesus. The difference between promise and blessings is that a promise tells you what God is willing and able to do for you or what God wants to do for you. But a blessing is what He has already done for you that He is waiting for you to receive. Or what He has already given to you in Christ Jesus that He is waiting for you to take or receive.

For example Ephesians 1:3-9 (KJV) "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:" Notice that in all these scriptures none is a promise of what God wants to do or is going to do for us but what He had already done and made available in Christ Jesus for us to receive by faith. Unlike the substance the evidence of faith are always in past tense or present continuous, meaning they are already done and given to you even though you are yet to see it physically or receive it physically.

For example when it comes to healing the evidence is the word of God that tells you that the healing you are looking for is already yours even though you have not seen it yet manifested. Such scriptures include for healing Psalms 107:20 (KJV) "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." 1Peter 2:24 (KJV) "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed." Matthew 8:17 (KJV) "That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses."

But a scripture like the healing of the leper in Mark 1:40-42 (KJV) "And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed." Or the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5:25-34 or the healing of the man at the pool of Bethesda in John 5:1-9 are not evidence but substance to give us hope that God heals. Grace be with you. John 9:1-7; 11:1-45; Mark 10:42-56; 2Corinthians 1:20; 5:7; 1Corinthians 3:21-23; Colossians 2:9-10; 3:1-4; 1John 5:4;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 61.

Hebrews 11:1, 6 (KJV) "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.....But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

61. Whatever you need from God the first thing is to hear the word that will give you the substance or assurance and confidence that God wants to give it to you, that God is willing to give it to you and that God is able to give it to you. Do not assume you know. In other words based on the word of God you are hearing, do you have confidence and assurance that God wants to give it to you, that God will give it to you and that God is able to give it to you? Every word of assurance or substance must answer these questions for you and you must believe it. You must believe based on what you are hearing that God wants to heal you, God is able to heal you and that God is willing to heal you. Please note that a substance of the word can only give you hope or assurance not faith.

In otherwords, the substance can only help you believe but not enough to give you faith. So don't base your faith only on the substance. Many people fail to be healed because they base all their faith on the substance, assurance or hope. For example stories in the bible or testimonies are good only as substance, hope or assurance that God can do it but testimonies cannot give you faith. Don't base your faith on a testimony or a story in the bible. Bible healing stories or Testimonies are not the word of God but the works of God. Faith comes by hearing the word not by hearing the works of God. The works of God are given to us to draw us to the word. From Genesis to the gospels speak of the marvellous works of God. But from the book of the epistles Romans to Jude speaks of the word of God or the blessings of God given to us as a result of the finished work of God in Christ Jesus.

God worked from the book of Genesis till the resurrection and ascension of Jesus. From the book of Romans to Jude we are given all the blessings of the works of God in Christ to receive and enjoy freely by faith. Now we have entered into rest, no more works. Faith only exist or function where there is rest and no more work. Any promise or blessings of God that demands you work to get it you can never get it by faith. In order words the substance of the word are the promises of God to us. A promise is a word of assurance that God will do and is able to do what we are hoping for or what we are desiring. Grace be with you Romans 8:28; 10:17; Mark 5:27; 6:1-6; 9:23; Luke 4:18-28; 5:15; 6:17; John 4:34; 5:1-7,17,20,36; 6:28-29; 9:4; 10:25,32,37; 14:10-14; 16:23; 1Corinthians 3:21-23; Ephesians 1:3; 2Corinthians 1:20; 4:15; Psalm 2:8; Colossians 1:16-17;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 60.

Hebrews 11:1, 6 (KJV) "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.....But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

60. The word of God is the only means whereby we can have both the substance of our faith and the evidence of our faith. Whether it is faith for healing, salvation, prayer, fruitfulness, freedom from demonic oppression, prosperity, serving God, to succeed in life, etc. Only the bible can provide you the substance and evidence that will give you the basis for your faith to receive anything from God. If you are desiring or expecting anything outside of the word of God that is not faith and you are not expecting to receive it from God. God will only give you what His word has promised not just what you want. The word of God is the only will of God for you. God gives us only what He has promised us in His word. God cannot give you what He does not have.

If the substance and the evidence of your faith is not based on the word of God it is not faith. And without faith you can receive nothing from God. So in a nutshell faith simply means the word of God you are standing on for what you want or desire and the word of God you are standing on as evidence that what you are desiring is already yours even though you have not yet seen it. 2Corinthians 1:20 tells us that all the promises of God begins and ends in the word of God who is Christ.

In other words the whole bible or the word can be divided into to broad headings - the word of God that gives substance of hope and the word of God that gives you evidence of things not seen. For example the bible is divided into two testaments, the old testament and the new testament according to substance and evidence. The old testament mostly contains stories and promises that gives us hope because Christ was yet to come. But the new testament from the book of Romans contains realities of what already belongs to us because of the finished work of God in Christ.

Now let's make a difference between what is the substance of faith and what is the evidence of faith. Based on the scriptual definition of faith the bible says Now faith is the substance of things hoped for. According to this definition, the substance of faith is that scripture or word of God that gives you hope or assurance for example that your healing is possible, that God can heal you, God is able to heal, that God is willing to heal you. Providing the substance of faith is the primary purpose of all the account and stories of healings we see and read in the bible. These stories not only gives us substance but also tells us how the people got their own substance. Faith begins by hearing the substance and believing it. This is the first step to faith and the first step of faith. Grace be with you. 1Peter 2:24; Matthew 8:17; John 20:31; 3:16, Romans 5:1-21; 6:3-14; 8:1-39; 10:9-10; Genesis 1:28; John 15:7; 16:23; Mark 16:17; James 4:7; Ephesians 1:3-14; 1Corinthians 3:21; 12:1-30; 2Corinthians 8:9; John 14:13-14; 2Kings 5:1-15; Matthew 8:5-13; 9:27-35; Mark 5:25-34; Luke 7:11-17; John 4:43-54; 5:1-7; Acts 3:1-10; Colossians 1:13-20; 2:9-10; 3:1-4;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 59.

Hebrews 11:1, 6 (KJV) "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.....But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

WHAT IS FAITH: The bible defines faith in Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
There are two key words in this scriptural definition of faith - the word SUBSTANCE and the word EVIDENCE. The word substance comes from the Greek word which literarily means a persuasion or an assurance. In other words that which is able to give persuasion and assurance towards whatever you are hoping for. While the word evidence comes from the Greek word which means a proof or conviction. In other words that which provides a convincing proof or irrevocable proof that what you are hoping for is already yours even though you have not seen the manifestation.

The evidence of things not yet seen is based on the understanding that faith is based on the finished work of God in Christ Jesus. Faith is not based on what God will do for you but what God has already done for you in Christ Jesus. Combining the meaning of these two words we can define faith as follows: Faith is that which gives substance, assurance, persuasion or confidence to whatever we are hoping for or expecting, and that which provides the evidence, proof or conviction that what we are expecting is already ours even though we have not yet seen it physically.

Now what is this substance that gives us the assurance, persuasion and confidence concerning what we are expecting? And what is this evidence that gives us proof and conviction of what we have not physically seen. The bible says Romans 10:17 (KJV) "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Based on this scripture, the word of God is the only source of faith. If the word of God is the only source of faith it means both the substance and the evidence of faith can only be found in the word of God and can only come from the word of God. If the word of God is the only source of faith, then the word of God must be the only substance of the things we are hoping for and the only evidence of all the promises and blessings of God we have not yet physically seen. We can only receive the assurance for our hope and the proof of what we have not seen by hearing the word of God. Grace be with you. Romans 1:16-17; 4:17-21; 8:29-30; Hebrews 11:11; Genesis 15:4-6; John 1:12-13; Mark 6:1-6; Luke 5:15; 6:17; Acts 2:37; 10:44; 14:8-10; Ephesians 1:3-4; 1Peter 2:24; Matthew 8:17; 2Corinthians 1:20; 4:18;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 58.

Romans 5:1 (KJV) Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Romans 8:30 (KJV) Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. Galatians 3:24-26 (KJV) Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

58. The law was not of faith hence it condemned all men unto sin and death. What makes a sinner to be a sinner, unholy, unrighteous and unjust is his lack of faith. Whatever is not of faith is sin. It is not his character or lifestyle that makes him a sinner, unholy and unrighteous. No amount of holiness, no amount of self or religious righteousness can make a sinner holy or righteous. Only holiness by faith and righteousness by faith in the word of God is acceptable to God. It is not the sinner's sins that makes him a sinner but his lack of faith. Only faith is pleasing and acceptable to God. Faith is the only divine standard of measurement of what is sin and what is righteous. The sinner is born without faith but believers are born again by faith and with faith. Every believer has the gift of the faith of God permanently and eternally inside him in his spirit. That faith is what gave life to his spirit to be regenerated and to become a new creature.

It is that gift of the faith of God that makes every believer to be one with God. We are one with God because we have the same faith that God has. This faith is the very life of God and as a result the very life of the believer also. This faith is based on the word of God who is Jesus Christ in whom we live, we move and we have our being. Jesus is called our life because He is the word of God which we believed that gave us the faith from where we have life even the life of God. The bible says we are born again of the incorruptible word of God. There is nothing that can corrupt the word just as nothing, no sin in this world was able to corrupt Jesus while He lived as man in flesh and blood. God did this to show to all that sin has no power over all who are in Christ or all who believe.

For the believer sin is a choice, but for the unbeliever he has no choice as sin is his very nature. So no sin has the power to corrupt or destroy the life of the believer because his life is in Jesus the incorruptible word of God. The only sin that can corrupt and destroy the life of a believer is the sin of rejection of Jesus and His life which is otherwise called the sin unto death. A rejection of Jesus is automatic acceptance of the devil as your lord. A rejection of sin is not equal to receiving the life of Jesus or God. A rejection of sin is not equal to a rejection of the devil. Many religions reject sin yet do not accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour. It is only faith in Jesus as your Lord and Saviour that saves. It is not rejection of sin that saves. But God warns us to live holy lives away from all sins after we are saved especially the sin of unbelief and sexual immorality because every sin is a subtle deception of the devil to lead you to the commission of the sin unto death. That is why Jesus permits the untimely death of some believers who are persisting in sin so that they will not get to that point of no return and become condemned at the end with the world.

The sin of sexual immorality is one of the most subtle of all sins because it is sin against your body and weakens your mental ability to make divinely guided decisions in life and weakens the ability of your spirit to fight the devil because your body which is the house of your spirit is in bondage of the devil. Over a long period of time the person might become so frustrated with his failures in life that he might begin to contemplate abandoning the faith. But God will never abandon you no matter your challenges until you abandon him. The bible says 2Timothy 2:12-13 (KJV) "If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself." Grace be with you. Romans 3:10-28; 4:3-5,13-16; 5:10-21; 6:3-14; 7:5-25; 10:9-10,13,17; 12:3; 14:23; Galatians 3:11-29; John 1:1-3,12-14; 3:3; Ephesians 2:8-9; 5:3-5; 2Corinthians 5:17; Colossians 2:9-10; 3:1-5; Acts 17:28; 1Peter 1:23; 1Corinthians 5:1-5; 6:15-20; 10:6-14; 11:30-32; 1Timothy 6:10-11; 2Timothy 2:22; James 4:7; 1Thessalonians 4:3-7;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 57.

Acts 13:39 (KJV) And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
Romans 3:20, 23-24, 26, 28 (KJV) Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin....23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:....26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus....28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

57. The man under the law cannot live by faith. Under the law you receive according to what you have done. Under faith we receive only according the grace of God in all that Christ has done for us. Under the law you received according to your obedience, but under grace you receive according to what you believe. It is unto you according to your faith, not according to your obedience. The law demanded obedience because it was based on a set rules and regulations of behaviour. But grace demands faith because it is based on free gifts. Faith could not be revealed in the old testament because no one was just and no one was justified to receive anything from God. It is the finished work ofJesus that declared God just or the just one. It is also by the redemptive work of Christ that God became the justifier of all who believe in Christ. Under the law all men were condemned to die without hope and God had no justification to save anyone or bless them.

In Acts 7:52 Jesus is called the just one and in him and through faith in him we become just and can live by faith. The word of God Jesus is just and the only thing that justifies. The word of God can only be lived by faith, as a result the just can only live a just life by faith. The just life is only in Jesus, the faith life is only in Jesus. Until Jesus came no one was just and no one had faith. But righteousness was credited to them in advance until Jesus the true righteousness of God was revealed.

Faith is only for the righteous and for the just or the justified. A sinner does not have faith, a sinner can never have faith. If a sinner has faith then he can please God, for only faith pleases God. All men became sinners because of the lack of faith and unbelief of Adam the first man. From then every man is born a sinner because he is born without faith. Whatever is not of faith is sin. At the new birth we cease to be sinners because we are born again as a result of the gift of the faith of God which we received when we believed and accepted the word of the gospel we heard. Faith comes only by hearing the word of God. It is this gift of the faith of God that makes us righteous, justifies us and makes us just.

We are made just by faith and we can only live a justified life by faith. When we walk in unbelief we disqualify ourselves from being righteous and just. And when we don't walk by faith we disqualify ourselves from the promises and blessings of God. Notice it is not God or Christ that disqualifies but your unbelief. Unbelief is the refusal or inability to take by faith whatever God has given freely by grace. There is no unbelief under the law because there were no free gifts from God. Whatever the Isrealites were unable to receive due to unbelief in the old testament, it must be part of the promise of God to Abraham not a promise by the law.

All the blessings and promises of God in Christ are only for the righteous through faith and for the just through faith. Our unbelief disqualifies us, it is not God or the devil. Whatever you want God to do for you the first thing you have to do is to get all the scriptures that promised you what you are asking and believe them as yours in your heart. It is on this basis of your faith in the word of promise that makes you righteous and justified to receive and have the promise. This is the true holiness God is seeking from us. But most of us spend so much time trying to sought out our outward righteousness, holiness and obedience and using that as basis to claim our promises and blessings. Such is unbelief and such persons will always be disappointed. Grace be with you. Galatians 3:1-29; 5:3-5; Ephesians 1:3,11; 2:4-9; Romans 1:16-17; 4:13-16; 5:1,12-21; 8:29-30; 10:17; 14:23; Colossians 1:16-20; Genesis 15:5-6; John 1:1-3,12-13; Hebrews 4:2; 11:6; 1Corinthians 15:21-22;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 56.

Galatians 2:16 (KJV) Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

56. Only the just can live by faith. And the just can only live by faith. The just cannot live any other way, the just has no other life or lifestyle but to live by faith in Christ who justified him. The Christ who justified him is the word of God. So the just can only live by faith in the word of God. The just lives by faith in the word of God because he is born of the word, the word is his life and his life is hid in Christ who is the word. The word of God is the alpha and the omega of the just. His life begins and ends in the word. He lives by faith in whatever the bible says of him, to him. and for him. He does not doubt the word regardless of all obvious contrary evidences. The just cannot live by the law because by the law no man can be justified. The just cannot live by the law also because the law is not of faith. The word of God is the only revelation of God and revelation of Christ we have. So the just shall live only by hearing the word. For faith comes only by hearing and hearing the word of God.

The just shall not live by the faith of what he had heard but by faith in what he is hearing now. Faith is always now. We hear now through our confession and our meditation of the word. Which means the just always lives in the now not on yesterday or tomorrow. Whatever you heard yesterday must be same now and must be real now. The just is called the believer present continuous, not the one who believed or the one who is going to believe. The law is not now, the law is always based on what you did or what you have done. Even when you hear the law it is always judging you on what you have done, what you should have done and what you should not do. Hence it is full of condemnation.

But the word of faith always tells you who you are now in Christ and what belongs to you now in Christ Jesus. Faith is always now because it is of the Spirit and in the realm of the Spirit there is no time or space. This also means that the just is always a believer. When we walk in fear, doubt and unbelief we are not living the life of the just. We are indirectly saying we are not justified, we are not just and we are not righteous. We are not qualified. Justification is based on righteousness. So whenever you feel unrighteous or you act unrighteously you cannot live like the just and you cannot live or walk by faith.

But the just is one who is qualified by Christ according to the written word. The just shall live always only according to what the word of God says about him in Christ. Not according to what he sees, what he feels, what people say, what the devil says or what circumstances say. Not even according to what he thinks or what he can understand or reason. Faith does not think, does not try to understand or reason or be wise, faith only believes the word. Faith takes God only by His word whether he understands it or not. Fear, doubt and unbelief comes when we see ourselves unqualified to stand before God, before men, before the devil and before circumstances. That is what it means to be unrighteous. Grace be with you. UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 55.

Galatians 3:8, 11-12 (KJV) And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed....11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. 12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

55. We Are Justified By Faith. The bible says in Galatians 2:16 (KJV) Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
We are justified by the faith of Christ not by our own works of righteousness or by our own holiness or ability. When we believe in Christ Jesus, we receive the gift of the faith of Christ because we are in Him. Believing in Christ is believing that when Christ was crucified, died, buried and was raised from the dead that we were crucified together with Him, died, and was buried together with Him and we were raise from the dead together with Him and in Him. Having gone through all these with Christ we are joint partakers of all His grace. This is how we were redeemed, made righteous and justified in Christ.

The bible says in Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Every Christian is given a measure of the faith of Christ when we got born again because our life and our existence is in Him. Just as every part of your body has a measure of what you have. After we were justified we had nothing of our own, God had to give us every thing that pattern to life and godliness in Christ Jesus. It is based on these gifts that we exercise faith and receive them freely because they belong to us. In the old testament there were no such free gifts to base your faith upon. You have to work, serve, earn and merit everything you receive from God in the old testament and under the law.

Faith is not only for the justified but it is faith that justifies the just. It is faith that justifies the just, and it is faith that makes a man to be just, hence the just can only live by faith in his justification from faith to faith. Or we can say that the just can only live by the grace of his justification by God in Christ Jesus. It is not what we do or what we have done that justified us or makes us just, it is faith in what Christ did for us that justifies us and makes us just before God. To be justified by your holiness or by what you have done or what you are doing or what some man has done is not justification by grace, not justification by faith and it is not justification in Christ.

We are not justified by men and our justification is not in the eyes of men but in the eyes of God who justified us for Himself and to Himself. So don't try to be just before men or try to please men as an act of justification. Justification is by faith. Since faith was not revealed in the old testament, it was impossible for anyone to be justified under the law. Also since the law was not of faith it is impossible for anyone to be justified by the law. Justification is a free gift of grace hence we can only be justified by faith. Faith receives only the things offered by grace and not things offered by the law or by works of the law. Grace be with you. Romans 3:19-28; 4:2,22-25; 5:1,9,16-18; 6:3-14; 8:30; 12:3; 2Peter 1:3; Acts 13:39; 17:28; 1Corinthians 6:11; Galatians 2:20-21; 3:11,24,29; 5:4; Titus 3:7; Colossians 2:11-14; 2Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 1:3;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 54.

54. The justification work of the blood of Jesus gives us a new life where we become a brand new person in our spirit and we become as one who had never existed before and one who has no past. Where sins are not cleansed such as in the old testament and under the law every one had a past and therefore could not be justified and declared just and qualified to have faith, walk by faith or live by faith. Only the just who has no past of sins and unrighteousness can have faith and live by faith.

Under the law nothing could take away their sins in fact in those animal sacrifices were a constant reminder to God and the people of their sins and that they were sinners. Where there's sin and unrighteousness there could be no justification. God is only the justifier of those whose sins were fully remitted forever in Christ Jesus. The blood of Jesus cleanses eternally not temporarily. Only those with eternal redemption can be justified and only they can have faith. No sinner or unrighteous can be called a son of God. No sinner or unrighteous can have an inheritance in Christ Jesus. Faith is based on heirship and inheritance.

In this new justified life we have been given a new nature that has no trace or memory of any sins we had ever committed. 2Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." No son of Adam can be justified or be just, only the sons of God in Christ Jesus. No Nigerian or American or Australian or any nationality can be justified or just, only members of the new nation called the Church who are members of the body of Christ. In this new nationality the blood of Jesus washes us into a brand new life that has no record anywhere of our past.

Justification accounts you as innocent as a new born baby. A new born baby has no past but the past of his parents. As new born babes in Christ we have no past but Christ. That is why to enjoy justification God demands that you must be born again (anew). John 3:3 (KJV) "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." As born again in Christ he is a new creature, old things are past away forever, all things are now new and all things are of God. Even as the bible says John 1:12-13 (KJV) "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." Only those who are born of God, having the life of God and the faith nature of God can be called the just and can live by faith. No one had these qualities in the old testament and under the law. Grace be with you. John 3:3-8; 1Peter 1:23; 2:2,9; Ephesians 1:3; 2:1-9; 4:24; Colossians 2:10,14; Romans 3:20-28; 8:14-17; 12:1-3; 2Corinthians 5:7,21; Galatians 3:16-29; 4:1-7; Hebrews 9:26-28; 10:1-18; 1Timothy 1:9-10; 1Corinthians 3:21-23; 2Peter 1:2-4;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 53.

53. Faith Is Only For The Justified: Romans 3:20 (KJV) Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Another reason why the law was not of faith was because the law could not justify anyone. Even though under the law there was a measure of redemption through the blood sacrifices but there was no justification. No one in the old testament was justified and no one in the old testament could be justified because the law was not made for the righteous and the justified. The law was made for the unrighteous, the unjustified and the unholy. The unrighteous, the unjustified and unholy cannot have faith and cannot live by faith. Only the just can live by faith.

By the precious work of the blood of Jesus God became the just and the justifier of all men. Apart from the blood of Jesus providing salvation and redemption for man from the bondage of sin, death and the devil, the blood also declared man just and justified before God and all creation in heaven, earth and beneath the earth. All that Jesus did on the cross He did it not just for Christians but for all mankind.

What Is Justification? The word justification comes from the Greek word which means to be pardoned, discharged and acquitted of all sins and all unrighteousness just as if you had never sinned. To be justified is to be made just, just as if you had never sinned. Who is the just? The just is a person who is made right with God and qualified to enjoy all the rights and privileges of God in Christ without any hindrances. The just is one qualified by God through the blood of Jesus Christ to enjoy in full all the blessings of God purchased by the blood of Jesus without any fear, guilt or condemnation of sin. That is why Romans 8:1-2 says there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, for the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death. The just is the one who is not born of the flesh but of the Spirit. The just is the one who does not walk after the flesh but after the Spirit.

By the redemptive work of Christ this is who we are as believers before God in Christ. By the redemptive work of Christ all mankind have been justified freely, but only those who believe it, accept it and receive it, are entitled to enjoy all the blessings of justification. To hear it, believe it, accept it and receive it, is to walk in the Spirit, walk by faith and live the just life. Even though the blood of Jesus did it for all, it is not automatic but conditional on acceptance by faith in Christ Jesus. Under the law they could not be justified because the blood of animals could not cleanse them from sin and make them righteous. Only the blood of Jesus is able to cleanse man from all sins and all unrighteousness to declare him righteous and justified. Grace be with you. Romans 1:16-17; 3:23-28; Habakkuk 2:4; 1Timothy 1:9-10; Ephesians 1:3; 2:11-19; 2Peter 1:2-4; 1John 1:9;

Religion / Understanding What Faith Is. Part 52. by PastorSomba(m): 9:56pm On Feb 08, 2023
UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 52.

Hebrews 4:16 (KJV) Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

52. Jesus wrote the will, Jesus died to enforce the will and Jesus rose from the dead to execute the will and to enforce the will by sending the Holy Spirit as guarantee of the full inheritance to all sons of God. At the name of Jesus and faith in that name all things are yours for inheritance. No power or force in heaven or earth can stop a son in faith from taking full possession of whatever he needs or wants in the father's house or estate. The confidence of faith is that he is asking for what belongs to him. He is not asking the Father to give him what belongs to the Father, he is asking for what belongs to the Father which the Father by inheritance in Christ Jesus had passed over to him or bequeathed to him. This is why the Father says to us to come boldly to His throne to demand for anything because all things are ours. And Jesus told us that whatever we ask in His name He will give it to us.

There is mercy for us at the throne because we are not yet perfect in this world. But what matters to our Father is our faith and boldness. With faith and boldness no sin can stand on our way. Just as when the prodigal son boldly can back to the father mercy was waiting for him. Every child of God is qualified because there is inside of every child of God the measure of the faith of God or the God kind of faith. That is why we are called believers for by divine nature we have the capacity to believe for anything. In addition the love of God or the God kind of love has also been shed abundantly in our hearts. One of the attributes of the love of God is that it believes all things. It is this combination that makes all things possibe for us believers.

The scripture that says 'All things are possible to him that believes' actually refers to believers. When Jesus said this in Mark 9:23 there were no born gain Christians and there were no believers by nature. As Christians we do not just believe we are believers by nature, the nature of God in us, hence all things are ours, all things are for our sake and all things are working together for our good. When we are praying for the sick we are exercising and taking authority that belongs to us in the name of Jesus. When we are casting out devils we are exercising and taking authority that belongs to us in Christ Jesus. Our confidence and boldness are the substance of the things we are hoping for and evidence of the things we have not seen.

Faith therefore is daring to believe and daring to demand for what is seemly impossible. Dare to believe, dare to do, dare receive all that belongs to you in Christ Jesus. Grace be with you. John 1:1-3; Ephesians 1:3-14; Psalm 2:8; Romans 1:16-17; 5:5; 8:28; 10:9-13; 12:3; 14:23; 1Corinthians 3:21-23; 13:4-8; 2Corinthians 4:15; Hebrews 4:16; 11:1,6; Matthew 7:7; 17:20; John 14:13-14; 16:23; Mark 11:23-24; 16:17-18; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:16-21; Revelation 4:11; Luke 15:11-32;

Religion / Understanding What Faith Is. Part 51. by PastorSomba(m): 4:53pm On Feb 07, 2023
UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 51.

Hebrews 9:15-17 (KJV) And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. 16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

51. God made a two fold promise to Abraham concerning his seed. The first was to the natural seed of Abraham called Isaac. The second promise was to the spiritual seed of Abraham called Jesus. The natural seed was to facilitate the coming of the spiritual seed. So the natural seed was only a vehicle for the coming of the true seed Jesus Christ. These two seeds represent the two covenants called the old testament and the new testament. The first covenant was mediated by angels but the new covenant is mediated by Jesus the son of God. The first covenant was the will of God to his servants, the second is the will of God the Father to His sons.

The new testament is the last will or testament of the Father containing the bequeathing of all that belongs to the Father to His son Jesus. The will was God's promise to His word who became flesh as a man for the sake of the Father in order to carry out the plan of God for the redemption and restoration of all things that was lost through Lucifer in heaven and through Adam on earth. Having come as a Son, the Father established a covenant with Him willing all things to Him. Jesus as the word of God was the creator and owner of all things. So Jesus came as a man not only as the mediator of the new covenant but He is also the owner of all things having come in the name of the Father. So for the new covenant or the last will to take effect the writer of the will must die before the inheritance can be available to the sons of God.

In the old testament the angels who were the mediators could not die for the old covenant only animals were killed for the inheritance of the old covenant. The bible says that the blood of bulls and goats were insufficient for the effective implementation of the old covenant. As servants, the Israelites could not exercise faith on the old will. Secondly the testator was not dead to make it available to them so they had to work through the law to get it which was impossible. It is impossible to receive an inheritance through the law as inheritance is umerited favour from a father only to his sons. Slaves and servants have no inheritance because they are not heirs. They can only work to earn something from the father. Just as Abraham demonstrated with Isaac and all other of his children including Ishmael and the children of Keturah.

So faith was not revealed in the old covenant because the will was not enforceable since the testator was still alive. You cannot exercise faith to receive what was not available to you or what was not enforceable. The old will was unavailable and unexecuted. You cannot use the blood of animals to execute a will. Hence the old testament saints look forward to the new covenant for the inheritance or fulfillment of their promises. They had no rights to the covenant so they could not demand for anything. Faith places demand because what he is demanding already belongs to him by inheritance. He is placing a demand based on a will that has been fully executed after the death of the testator who apportioned to us all that belongs to Him. The Holy Spirit is the sole executor of the will. God has given us the Holy Spirit both in us and upon us to guarantee we receive all our inheritance and possess all our possessions in Christ Jesus. Grace be with you. Romans 4:13-16; 9:4-12; Galatians 3:16-29; 4:22-31; John 1:1-3; 1Corinthians 3:21-23; Philippians 2:5-11; Matthew 28:18; Colossians 1:15-22; Ephesians 1:10-11; 3:1-11; Hebrews 9:1-28; 11:11-16; Genesis 21:1-21; 25:1-9;

Religion / Understanding What Faith Is. Part 50. by PastorSomba(m): 9:07pm On Feb 06, 2023
UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 50.

50. It is the blood of the testator that seals and releases the will to come into effect. That is why in the old testament the blood of animals were sacrificed and sprinkled on the the book of the law and on the people. The blood of the animal signified the death of the testator. The blood was the sacrifice needed to qualify all the people to be entitled to the blessings in the will. The blood cleanses and purifies both the will and the people of all sins of commission, omission and the sin nature that may disqualify the will or the people. The blood means that the testator has paid the ultimate price for all their sins. By the blood of Jesus no sin of commission, ommission or the sin nature can disqualify us from inheritance. No sin of a son can disqualify him from an inheritance the father had already given to him in a fully executed will.

By the blood and because of the blood nothing can seperate us from the will. If God and the will is for us who can be against us. Who can lay any charge against us to disqualify us from the will when Christ has died. And Christ is in heaven ensuring through intercession and otherwise to ensure we receive all that His will gave us. This is the reason why Jesus had to die to shed His blood to make the will to take effect for us. His blood is not like that of animals that was ineffective. The blood of animals were insufficient because they were not the writers nor the owners of the will, and their blood had no power to cleanse the people from any unrighteousness that may disqualify them from the will.

All of creation and all things in heaven and earth belongs to God. In the old testament God was not revealed as a Father but only as the Almighty God, Jehovah Jireh, Jehovah shalom, Jehovah Nissi, Jehovah Tsekenu, etc. But God has always been a Father. God only had a relationship with Israel. He did not reveal Himself to other nations and had no relationship with them. Since God's relationship with man has always been based on covenant, He had to enter into a covenant with Israel as a nation and a people of God to set them apart from the rest of humanity. God's covenant with Israel is different from God's covenant promise to Abraham and his seed. God's covenant with Israel was the law. God's covenant promise to Abraham and his seed was far superior such that even the law that came later could not affect the promise. Rather Jesus came, fulfilled the law, cancelled it and put it away so that the covenant promise can be fulfilled.

Israel was the first nation God had a covenant with. Before this time God only had covenant relationship with individuals such as Adam, Noah and Abraham. Since God had not revealed Himself as a Father to Israel, He related with Israel as servants. Hence He established the law to govern His relationship with them based on servant and master relationship or people of God. Yet in God's heart He yearned for a more deeper relationship of Father and son, husband and wife as He later declared through His prophets. As servants and because of the carnal nature of the law, God could only give them a physical or natural inheritance in the land of Canaan. He could not leave a spiritual inheritance for them because they were not spirits but carnal while God is a spirit. This covenant with Israel was not eternal but temporary until the fulfillment of the promise to Abraham. Exodus 24:7-8; Hebrews 7:1-28; 9:1-28; 10:1-14; Romans 8:1-10,31-39; Genesis 9:1-17; 15:1-21; 17:1; 22:14; Isaiah 1:2; Jeremiah 31:9; Hosea 1:1-11; John 4:24; Galatians 3:1-29;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 49.

49. Jesus The Testator Was Not Dead: Another reason why the law was not of faith and faith was not revealed in the old testament is that Jesus the testator of the Will of God was not yet dead. Faith is based on inheritance not on works, service or merit. Faith is based on inheritance that is based on the last will of God in Christ. The word of God is not just the word of God but the last Will of God. When we see the word will of God in the bible most times we just think it is simply the desire of God for us. No, it is not just a desire but the will of God is like the Last Will of a person transferring everything he owns, all his estate to his children at his death.

Jesus died to transfer all that belongs to God to us. So the word of God is no longer the desire of God for us but actually all that already belongs to us in Christ Jesus. God is not trying to give us His will but He has already done so by the death of Jesus the testator of the will. Jesus came as both God in the flesh and the son of God in the flesh. As God the Father Jesus died to transfer all the estate of the Father to His only begotten son Jesus Christ. As the sons of God in Christ, the body of Christ and the wife of Christ all that belongs to Christ automatically belongs to us. Hence the scripture 1Corinthians 3:21-23 (KJV) "Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your's; Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are your's; And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's."

While the owner or testator of the will is alive the will cannot take effect because he can change his mind and he can cancel or revoke the will just as God did of the old will or old testament. But being dead the will is unchangeable and can never be altered. Whatever the Father has given to you belongs to you forever. No one has the power to change it or take it from you except you give it to them. The only thing that can stop you is your lack of knowledge of it and your unbelief that the will is not real or true. But remember there is no vacuum if you don't inherit and take possession of your inheritance the devil will steal, kill and destroy it. The concept of the word of God as the last will of God is the basis of faith. Faith comes by hearing the will of God. The will was not written based on the merit or ability of the sons but purely by the grace of the Father to all His children equally.

No one has the right to question your qualification to receive what was bequeathed to you or why it was given to you. It is too late because the testator is dead and cannot be recalled to explain or answer such questions. This is the confidence and boldness upon which faith is based on. And this was the reason why there was no faith in the old testament because the testator was still alive and could change His mind concerning you. So the old testament was a mere wish or desire but not a valid will enforceable by faith. Faith is our knowledge, understanding, confidence and boldness to demand and take all that is in the will for us. Grace be with you. Hebrews 7:1-28; 9:1-28; John 1:12-13; 3:35; 5:20,30; 6:38; 10:10,27-29; 16:15; 17:10; Ephesians 1:3; 3:1-11; Philippians 2:5-11; Galatians 3:15-19,26-29; Romans 8:14-17; 10:17;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 48.

Matthew 27:52-53 (KJV) "And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many."

48. When Jesus rose from the dead all the old testament saints that were kept in paradise in Abraham bossom, their spirits became born again, their spirits received the life of God which faith had made available to all by the resurrection of Jesus. Many of them rose and appeared to several people in Israel which had never happened before. So when Jesus was ascending into heaven He took all of the old testament saints into the heaven courtesy of the revelation of His faith. Hence the scripture says in Ephesians 4:8 when Jesus ascended He took captivity captive. The captivity that were led captive by Jesus to heaven were all the old testament saints who were kept in captive by the law of sin and death. Only faith gives you access into the presence of God. Today we can enter into the throne room of God boldly because of the faith of Jesus.

Until Jesus came the word of God was not called the living word. It was called the written word. It was not alive. The word was not said to be alive because it was spoken by God through dead spirits or men who were spiritually dead. Jesus was the first man with a living spirit to speak the word on earth. Jesus as the word of God made flesh revealed to us the living word not just the written word. Jesus was the word taking on human flesh and living amongst men for the first time. The revelation of Jesus gave physical life to the word. With the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, the word is now alive forever more. Only the living word can produce faith. Jesus the living word preached and people received faith. The believer is born of the living word so when we preach we are not preaching the written word but the living word. The written word cannot produce faith until it is spoken. Hence faith comes only by hearing the spoken word. In the old testament even though they were told to write and bind the word everywhere in their homes and even their clothing and in their body, it could not produce faith.

The power of confession is that it turns the written word into the living word in your mouth and in your heart. There is power only in the spoken word, not on the written word because the spoken word is the living word. The bible says Hebrews 4:12-13 (KJV) For the word of God is quick, (alive) and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. The spoken word by a believer or a living spirit contains the spirit of the word. The spoken word is the word in the spirit form and state. The spoken word is Christ the living word still at work on earth. Only the spoken word carries the creative and omnipotent power of God. Only the word in a spiritual state can produce faith because faith is of the spirit. Faith is a spiritual virtue not a mental or physical virtues.

In the King James Version of the bible throughout the old testament the word faith is not mentioned except in Habakkuk 2:4. In the old testament they believed God looking forward to the revelation of faith by the blood of Jesus at the cross. Faith was credited to them for righteousness as was the case of Abraham. But today we are saved by faith looking back at the revelation of faith by the blood of Jesus at the cross. Now that faith is revealed we have the word faith occurring more than 230 times in the new testament. Today faith is not credited to us but every believer has been given the measure of the faith of Christ at the new birth. Grace be with you. Luke 16:22-23; Ephesians 2:8-9; 4:7-10; Psalm 24:7-10; 1Corinthians 15:44-49; John 1:1-3,12-14; 6:63; 11:25; Hebrews 4:16; 11:13-29; Galatians 5:19-29; Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 11:23-24; 16:15-20; Romans 4:9-25; 10:8-17; 12:3; Deuteronomy 11:18-20; Isaiah 55:11; Genesis 1:1-28;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 47.

Hebrews 9:3, 7-8 (KJV) "And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:"

47. The Way Into The Presence of God Was Not Open: Another reason why faith was not revealed in the old testament was because the way into the Holy of Holiest which is the presence of God was not open under the old covenant. In the temple there was a veil that separated the holy of holiest from the rest of mankind except the high priest once a year. That veil was the law. When Jesus died and put away sin once and for all, the law lost its power and relevance and was set aside signified by the tearing of the veil in Matthew 27:50-51. Where there is no sin, there is no need for the law. The law was a barrier that created enmity between God and man and between man and man. The veil not only separated the people from God but also separated God from the people. In the holy of holiest the presence of God is where the fullness of the nature of God was manifest. It is in the holy of holiest that the love of God, the mercy of God, the grace of God and the faith of God were hidden from the people and the whole world. Because of the law, no one was qualified to access and enjoy these divine virtues.

Even the high priest who entered there once a year was in fear of instant death. At the same time sin being magnified by the law on men, hindered God from revealing His fullness to mankind. So when Jesus shed His blood and died and took away our sin and fulfilled the law, the veil tore open and the fullness of God was revealed to all men. Jesus came as the love of God, the mercy of God, the grace of God and the faith of God. Even before Jesus died He had begun the manifestation and revelation of the love, mercy, grace and faith of God during His mninstry.

Jesus walked in love towards all sinners, He was merciful and compassionate, was gracious in healing people and His word produced faith in people. And Jesus also demanded faith from the people who wanted to receive anything from Him. So with the removal of the veil faith was revealed to man. Man now has access into the presence of God to receive the love, mercy, grace and faith of God. At the same time faith also now has the liberty to be available to all whether Jews or Gentiles by the hearing of the word of God. The word of God, the presence of God, His love, mercy, grace and faith are now available to all men, no longer the exclusive right of Israel.

Also because of the veil of the law, all believers in the old testament who died before the resurrection of Jesus had no access into heaven or the presence of God. Until faith was revealed no old testament saint could be said to have pleased God to be able enter heaven into the presence of God. Without faith it is impossible to please God. It was after faith was revealed that the righteousness of faith was credited to their account. In the old testament no one was ever said to have faith until faith was revealed in the new testament. They had the ability to believe but because their spirits were not regenerated they could have faith. Matthew 9:36; 14:14; Hebrews 9:1-28; 11:6; Mark 10:46-52; 15:38; Luke 23:44-46; Ephesians 2:4-9,11-19; Colossians 2:11-15; Mark 5:22-43; 6:1-6; 11:23-24; John 3:3-8; Galatians 3:16-29; Genesis 15:6;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 46.

Romans 4:16 (KJV) "Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace;....."
Ephesians 2:4-5, 7-8 (KJV) "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are savedwink..... That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:"

46. Grace Was Not Revealed: John 1:16-17; Faith was not revealed in the old testament because the grace of God was not yet revealed. The bible says the law came by Moses but grace and truth came by Jesus. God is first love, then merciful, then gracious and then faithful. Until love dispenses mercy and makes grace available, it is impossible for faith to function or work. Until God in Christ Jesus revealed His love by sending His son, in mercy sacrificing Him for our sin and through Him made salvation and all blessings freely available to all men by grace, it was impossible for faith to be revealed. In Christ Jesus and through Christ, God revealed and made available to all men His love, His mercy, His grace and His faith.

In Christ Jesus and through Him we have the love of God shed abroad in our heart and we are accepted as beloved sons of God. In Christ Jesus and through Him we have obtained mercy, forgiveness of sin and redemption. In Christ Jesus and through Him by grace we have the free gift of salvation and all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. In Christ Jesus and through Him the faith of God was revealed and we have been given a measure of the faith of God. Faith is therefore a product of the love, mercy and the grace of God. Wherever you find faith you will surely find love, mercy and grace. Hence whatever is not of faith is sin.

Every time we walk by faith we are walking in the love, mercy and grace of God. Under such environment there is no law and there is no sin. Love, mercy, grace and faith are all of the Spirit. When you walk in any of them you walk in all of them at the same time. When we walk in love or mercy or grace or faith we are walking in the Spirit. The law ministered only to the flesh as a result the love, mercy, grace and faith of God could not be revealed under the law. The coming of Jesus Christ was the revelation of the love, mercy, grace and faith of God because Christ was born of the Spirit and He was not bound by the law even though He came under the law. That is why no one could judge Him by the law until He willingly submitted Himself under the law at the cross. A spirit cannot be bound by the law. Only the flesh is bound by the law. Under the law no man had power over sin and death but Jesus being of the Spirit had power over sin, his life and his death. When we become born again we possess same power over sin, our life and death.

Faith is based completely and entirely on grace which is unmerited favour from God. Without grace there can be no faith. Faith only works to receive what is already given freely by grace not what you earned, worked for or a reward. You cannot give someone grace or unmerited favour of something that is not yet in existence. Faith is based on the knowledge of existing grace, not on assumptions or presumptions. Faith was not revealed in the old testament because all the blessings of God in Christ Jesus were not yet in existence since Christ was yet to come. Jesus Christ is the fullness of the grace or unmerited favour of God to us. And in Him is the faith of God revealed and given to us freely also to receive all that belongs to us freely in Christ. Grace be with you. 1John 4:8; Titus 2:11; Ephesians 1:3,7-8; 2:4-9; 3:1-12; Romans 4:1-16; 5:5; 8:1-11; 12:3; 14:23; Galatians 2:16,20-21; 3:22-26; 5:6,22-23; John 1:14,16-17; 3:16; 10:17-18; 17:2; 2Corinthians 5:19-21; 1Timothy 2:1-5; Colossians 1:13-14; 2:12; 1Corinthians 3:21-23;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 45.

Ephesians 2:13-16 (KJV) "But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:"

45. The bible says faith works by love. Love does not create enemies or work in enmity with people. Whatever creates enmity will create division, factions and discrimination among people and between people, families, gender, occupation, race and nationality. Such is neither of faith nor of love. The faith and the love of God were not revealed in the old testament because the law created enmity between God and man and between man and man. The law ministering to the flesh was against the spirit and God is a spirit. By the law only Israel were in relationship with God, while the rest humanity were enemies. By the law Israel were to have nothing in common with the Gentiles. By the law the Jews were not to have any covenant, intermarry or eat together or have dealings together with the rest of the world.

By the law the rest of the world were kept far away from God, only the Jews were permitted to come near to God. And only the Jews had access to God being the only people in covenant relationship with God. Remember that from Adam all God's relationship with man has only been by covenants - the Adamic covenant, Noahic covenant, Abrahamic covenant, and the Mosaic covenant which was the law. By the law only Israel had peace with God, the rest of humanity were enemies of God. As a result, the law became a big wall of partition between God and the rest of the world. By the law it was impossible for God to fulfill His covenant promise to Abraham and his seed. By the law it was impossible for redemption to be made for the sins of all men and it would have also been impossible for salvation to be made available for all humanity.

Though Jesus the seed of Abraham was born under the law, he was not bound by the law. If Christ the seed of Abraham had been bound by the law it would have been impossible for Him to fulfill the law. It would have been impossible for Jesus to be the acceptable lamb of God. The law was made for sin and for sinners. If Jesus was bound by the law, He would have become a sinner and no sinner was qualified to be the redeemer. Jesus the seed of Abraham had to be outside the law because the covenant promise to Abraham was outside the law. Jesus as the seed of Abraham must therefore remove every barrier and obstacles to the fulfillment of God's covenant promise if the promise is to take effect. Thus Jesus stood as the mediator between God and Israel in terms of the law since they were in bondage of the law being unable to meet the righteous requirements of the law. At the same time Jesus was also a mediator between God and the rest of the world being the seed of Abraham.

In addition, Jesus was the mediator between God, Israel and all humanity by fulfilling the righteous requirements of the law of sin and death. By the law Israel was condemned to death being unable to meet the righteous requirements of the law. By the law the whole world were condemned to death being alienated from God by the law. So when Jesus subjected Himself under the law, by becoming sin and dying, by the shedding of His blood, He not only set Israel free from the bondage of the law, He also set all humanity free from the bondage of sin and death. But most of all He removed all the barriers between God, Isreal and the rest of the world. Hence the bible says Galatians 3:26-29 (KJV) "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." By this singular act of Jesus the bible says He abolished the law as an enemy of Israel and as an enemy of the Gentiles. By this act of Jesus He reconciled Isreal and all men unto God. Grace be with you. Romans 3:19-26; 8:1-19; 10:1-4,12; 1Corinthians 12:13; 13:4-8; Galatians 4:1-7; 5:6,17; Colossians 1:13-22; 2:13-14; 3:10-11; Ephesians 1:7; 2:14-19; John 1:29; 3:16-17; 4:24; 10:16; 17:20-21; 2Corinthians 5:19-21; Matthew 5:17; 1Timothy 2:1-5; Hebrews 2:14-18;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 44.

Ephesians 2:11-13 (KJV) "Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ."

44. The Law created Enmity between God and the Rest of the World: The law was not of faith because it could not provide salvation or righteousness both for Israel and the Gentiles. The law failed to provide righteousness or salvation for Isreal and the law could not provide salvation or righteousness for the Gentiles as well. Instead the law brought enmity between man and man and man with God. So it was inevitable that the law must be set aside if God must fulfil His promise to Abraham. The law came or was added to show man that in as much as God desired to save all men but there is an enemy in man called sin that must be dealt with before God can fulfill His covenant promises to Abraham. The law came to magnify sin and show all men that they were sinners. Only sinners need salvation, only sinners need righteousness. So if the law never showed man he was a sinner and hopeless, no man would see the need for a Saviour or righteousness. So Jesus would have come and would have failed to fulfill God's covenant promise to Abraham and his seed as sin and the devil would have prevailed.

The law instead of bringing righteousness and salvation magnified sin and sentenced all men to death. As a result neither those under the law nor those outside the law were righteous before God. As a result, the law instead of brigding the gap between God and man widened it and left man in a hopeless situation thereby needing a Saviour. The bible says Romans 3:9-12 (KJV) ".....for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one."

However the law was given only to Israel through Moses. When God made a covenant with Abraham and gave him a covenant promise, it was for the benefit of the whole world or all mankind, not for Isreal alone. The covenant promise was that through Abraham and his seed ALL the families of the earth shall be blessed. The covenant promise was not to Isaac natural seed where Israel came from but to Jesus the spiritual seed of Abraham who also was an Israelites by birth. Christ was born an Israelite spiritually not naturally as he was conceived by the Holy Spirit and not by a man. Jesus was conceived by the incorruptible seed of the word of God. As Jesus is the spiritual seed of Abraham so also are all believers because we are all conceived and born of the Holy Spirit by the incorruptible seed of the word of God which we heard, believed and confessed.

When God added the law and gave the law to only Israel, Israel became the only nation and people in covenant relationship with God and the only people in a position to partake of the covenant of promise which was given to Abraham. The law shut out the rest of the world and made them by covenant enemies of God and enemies of the covenant of promise. The Gentiles were called uncircumcised and aliens or strangers to God and His covenant promises. Being without a covenant meant they were without God and without hope of redemption or salvation. The law ostracized the rest of humanity as unclean, sinful and lawless to the point that it was against the law for a Jew to have any form of dealings with a Gentile. Grace be with you. Ephesians 2:11-19; 3:1-11; Romans 3:19-26; 4:1-16; 5:12-14; 7:1-25; 8:1-10; 10:1-4,8-10; Hebrews 2:14-15; John 1:12-13; 3:3-8,16; 4:9; 2Timothy 1:10; Colossians 2:11-15; Galatians 3:1-29; 6:15; Genesis 12:2-3; 15:1-21; Luke 1:26-38; 1Peter 1:23; Acts 10:28;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 43.

Galatians 4:1-7 (KJV) Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; 2 But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. 3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: 4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

43. The law did not reveal God as a Father. Israel knew God only as Jehovah or Yahweh. Hence the Jews were angry with Jesus when He called God Father. Only grace and truth of the new testament in Christ Jesus revealed God as a Father. Sonship exist only where there is a Father. Inheritance exist only where there is a father and son relationship. The law only revealed Abraham as their natural father. But the promise of God to Abraham was not to his natural seed who is Isaac but to his spiritual seed who is Christ. Hence being a natural seed does not guarantee salvation or inheritance in Christ Jesus. Inheritance belongs only to the sons of God in Christ Jesus. Inheritance is a free gift of grace from the father to his sons. Inheritance is a free gift of grace based on the labour and finished work of the father.

In Christ Jesus God had done and finished all the work. As sons, God has given all that He laboured and worked in Christ to us as our inheritance. Just as God laboured for six days creating all things on earth and handed them all over to Adam who was the last thing he created on the sixth day. Same way Jesus as the last Adam came at the fullness of times to start a new creation of sons of God who shall be heirs of God, heirs of all things and joint heirs with Christ. The gospel is the call to all men to becomes sons of God through Christ so that they can inherit all things freely by faith. The epistles contain the details of the inheritance. The epistles are the detailed knowledge and revelation of all our inheritance in Christ Jesus and how we are to receive them by faith.

The promised land of Canaan was given to the natural seed of Abraham as a covenant promise before the law. They did not inherit or possess the promised land by the law but by grace of the promise to Abraham and the faith of Abraham. A whole generation of the Israelites perished in the wilderness because they thought the inheritance of the promised land was by works or their ability. As an inheritance they were supposed to possess it by faith. Of all the sins they committed in Egypt and in the wilderness none was able to hinder them from their inheritance until they committed the sin of unbelief. As unbelief hindered them from their inheritance then, so also today unbelief or lack of faith will hinder many believers from their inheritance. Remember every sin begins with unbelief.

The Israelites after taking over the promised land instead of keeping and preserving the land by faith through the atonement, they were trying to do it by the law which was impossible. This led to their captivity. It was impossible because failure in one law amounted to failure of all the law. So also today we are saved by grace through faith and we are to preserve our salvation by faith alone not by works of the law. Same way we are to receive all the promises of God to us in Christ Jesus by faith, use them by faith and preserve them by faith. It is from faith to faith. Unfortunately many believers like the Israelites are trying to maintain and preserve their salvation and the blessings of God by works. This like the Israelites has brought many into captivity.

Like the Galatians you cannot begin in the Spirit and want to be made perfect by the flesh. You cannot begin by grace and want to perfect your Christian faith by the works of the law. You don't get saved by grace and want to work out your salvation by the works of the law. The law was to show Israel and all mankind that the promises and the blessings of God cannot be received by the law and cannot be maintained or enjoyed by keeping the law. The freedom to receive and enjoy all the promises and blessings of God is only available by faith. Grace be with you. John 1:12-18; 5:17-47; 8:39-44; Galatians 3:1-14,16-19,29; Romans 1:16-17; 8:17; 9:1-9; Ephesians 1:3-14,17-23; 2:4-9; 3:1-6; Philippians 2:5-11; 1Corinthians 3:21-23; Genesis 1:1-29; Genesis 15:1-21; Hebrews 4:2;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 42.

Galatians 3:16-19,22-29 (KJV) Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise. 19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator...

42. There Was No Inheritance Under the Law: Galatians 3:22-29 (KJV) "But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise."

Another reason why faith was not revealed in the old testament and the law was not of faith was because the law had no promise of inheritance. The law was not made for children but for servants. Laws are not made for sons but for servants. A son is only guided by laws while he is still a child. When he is grown up he lives in liberty but with responsibility. An inheritance is a free gift of grace from a father to his children. Faith only works where there is an inheritance, not where you have to work to be blessed or work for the blessing. In Luke 15:11-32, the prodigal son got his inheritance by faith and returned back home by faith even though he failed and was welcomed back by the father. But the elder brother had a slave mentality, so he was working to earn an inheritance, as a result he had nothing but bitterness, anger and envy.

The law did not provide blessings and promises by inheritance or based on inheritance. The law provided promises and blessings based on works and performance of the law. Under the law there are no entitlements. Under the law there were no inheritance. The law had no provision for sonship. The law saw all men as servants and slaves. The law saw all men as transgressors or sinners who must work their way to righteousness before they can be accepted or blessed. There were no inheritance under the law because there were no sons. Under the law no one was a son, but all were servants called to work and serve in order to be rewarded. Inheritance belongs only to sons. Inheritance is the entitlement or birth right of all sons. Grace be with you. Galatians 4:1-7; 5:1,13 2Corinthians 1:20; Ephesians 1:3,11-14; Romans 4:1-16; Deuteronomy 28:1-60; Numbers 23:25-26; 1Peter 2:16; 1Timothy 1:9; Romans 6:15-23;

Religion / Understanding What Faith Is. Part 41. by PastorSomba(m): 5:14pm On Jan 28, 2023
UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 41.

Romans 9:30-33 (KJV) "What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed."

41. All children of the bondwoman Hagar or the law are in bondage. All children of the freewoman Sarah or faith are free. All believers in Christ Jesus are children of the free woman. But every one living under the law and all unbelievers are children of the bondwoman and are in bondage. Hence the bible says Galatians 5:1 (KJV) "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." If you choose to keep or live by the ten commandments you are indebted to keep the whole law. You cannot pick just any part of the law convenient for you, your denomination or your doctrine. Some people have divided the law into moral and ceremonial laws and have said we must keep the moral laws but not the ceremonial laws. But the new testament has no such classification. All the commandments, statutes, ordinances, judgements and testimonies of the old testament are all referred to as the law in the new testament.

So if you are choosing to perfect your Christianity by the law, the bible says Galatians 5:4 (KJV) "Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace." This means whoever is going back to the law in order to live right is alienating or separating himself from Christ. Christ and the law don't work together. Righteousness and the law don't go together. Holiness and the law don't go together. The Spirit and the flesh don't go together. In Christ Jesus the law does not matter but what matters is walking by faith and walking in love. Faith and the law don't go together. Love and the law don't go together. While the law fuels the lust of the flesh but faith is of the spirit. If you walk in the spirit you will never fulfill the lust of the flesh. If you walk in the flesh you can never live by faith and you can never walk in the spirit. When you are led by the Spirit you will do what is right freely, not by the compulsion of the law. If you are led by the Spirit you are not under the law.

But anytime you are not led by the Spirit you are under the law and you are walking in the flesh consciously or unconsciously no matter how good your intentions and actions. The flesh and spirit are uncompromising enemies. While the flesh works, the Spirit only bears fruit. The law is like a farmer who goes to farm and has to till the ground, plant the seed, water it and nurture it to become a tree. Which is a type of the curse on Adam. But the Spirit is like a full grown tree that does no work but bear fruit effortlessly. Which is like Genesis 1:28 and the garden of Eden.

Adam by eating from the forbidden tree and neglecting all the other trees freely given to him, chose to live by the law thereby putting himself under a curse. So the law was somehow a revelation to mankind of what Adam did and how it was impossible for man to please God or be saved through that way. The law being the knowledge of sin was a type of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. So everyone working through the law to be accepted by God is under the curse and can never inherit the kingdom of God just as Adam was driven out of the garden of Eden. Everyone living by faith is not under any law but the law of the Spirit, and cannot be judged or condemned by any law. Where the Spirit is there is liberty. Grace be with you. Galatians 2:21; 4:21-31; 5:1-25; Romans 3:9-10,19-26; 6:14; 7:1-25; 8:1-14; 10:1-4; Genesis 2:9,16-17; 3:1-24; 2Corinthians 3:17;

Galatians 4:1-7 (KJV) "Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ."

40. Galatians 4:21-31 - The bible says Abraham had two sons who are very symbolic of the law and grace. The first son Ishmael was born by a slave woman Hagar. But Isaac was born by Sarah the wife of Abraham. Hagar being a slave was a type of being in bondage but Sarah being a wife was a type of freedom. While Hagar conceived naturally, Sarah conceived by the power of the word of promise. While Ishmael was conceived naturally without a word, Isaac and Jesus were conceived by the word of God. Ishmael was born naturally or by natural law just like any other human being on earth, but Isaac was born supernaturally because it was impossible for a ninety year old woman to naturally give birth to a child.

So also Jesus was born supernaturally because it was impossible for a virgin to conceive naturally without a man and have a child. Same way, while Israel were naturally born children of Abraham, but the church are supernaturally born children of Abraham being born by the incorruptible word of God. Hagar and Ishmael are a type of the law that was given on Mount Sinai. Sarah and Isaac are a type of Mount Zion. While Hagar and Ishmael are a type of the natural children of Abraham, Israel who were given the law, Sarah and Isaac are a type of Jesus and all the sons of God in Him otherwise called the Church. While Israel under the law are in bondage, but Jesus and the Church are free being born of the Spirit outside the law. Just as Ishmael came first before Isaac, so also the law came first before Jesus and grace.

Just as Ishmael persecuted Isaac after Isaac was born so also the law and all those under law are persecuting Jesus and His church today. After Isaac was born, the bond woman and her son Ishmael were cast out, so also now that Jesus the promised seed has come, the law has been set aside. What the bible is saying in this comparison is that Hagar, Ishmael and the law are of the flesh but Sarah and Isaac are of the Spirit. So also while the natural Israel and the law are of the flesh, Jesus and His Church are of the Spirit. While they that are of the flesh can never please God but only they that are of the Spirit can please God. While they that are of the flesh shall die but they that are of the Spirit shall have eternal life. The law is of the flesh but grace and truth is of the Spirit. Grace be with you. Genesis 16:1-16; 17:15-27; 18:1-15; 21:1-21; Hebrews 11:11,18; 12:22-23; Deuteronomy 33:2; Isaiah 2:2; 54:1; Revelation 3:12; 21:2-10; Acts 3:25; Romans 8:1-10; 9:8; Galatians 3:16-29; 5:11; 6:12; John 1:12-13,17; 8:35-36; Luke 1:26-38; 1Peter 1:23;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 39.

39. Because Jesus preached faith and by faith, it was only where the people were willing to hear His teaching or receive His teaching that He was able to do miracles and mighty works there. Faith only comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. For example see what happened in Nazareth His hometown where they rejected His teachings. The bible says Mark 6:1-6 (KJV) "And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him. And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching." We see a further description of this incidence in Luke 4:16-30.

Since the Abraham our father received the promise by faith it is only by faith that his seed can receive or partake of the same promise. Abraham did not receive the promise by the law or by keeping the law, so it is also impossible for anyone to receive the promise by the law. Hence the bible says Galatians 3:7-10 (KJV) "Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them."

If Christ had not died and paid the full penalty and demand of the law it would have been impossible for the promise of God to Abraham and his seed to be fulfilled. The curse of the law would have been a stumbling block. Till date the law is a stumbling block to many Jews. The bible says Galatians 3:13-14 (KJV) "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith." Till date the law is a stumbling block to many Jews and unbelievers. Just as the bible says 1Corinthians 1:23 (KJV) "But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;" Grace be with you. Matthew 6:30; 8:10,26; 9:2,29; 14:31; 15:28; 16:8; 17:14-20; 21:21; 1Corinthians 1:18-31; Romans 4:1-25; Galatians 4:1-7; Hebrews 4:1-11; 10:1-18; 11:1-40;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 38.

38. The bible says Jesus was born under the law in order to redeem those who were under the law. Which means Jesus was not under the law, but in order to redeem those who were under the law, He put Himself under the law by taking on flesh and blood, becoming sin, and also willingly subjecting Himself to death like a sinner according to the law or just to fulfill the law. The law demanded that the soul that sins shall die and that the only wages of sin is death. Jesus did this in order to set all men free from the bondage of slavery by the law to sin, so that we can all become no longer slaves but sons of God. Since we are no longer slaves, we are now sons and heirs of God through Christ. As the heirs of God in Christ we have also become the seed of Abraham and heirs fully entitled to the unconditional promises and blessings of God to Abraham otherwise called our inheritance in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 3:18 (KJV) "For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise." The law was not part of the promise of God to Abraham and his seed, therefore it was impossible to receive the promise of God to Abraham and his seed through the law. The promise being by inheritance it was impossible for the inheritance of the blessings of God in Christ Jesus to be received through the law. Also, since the promise was by inheritance, it can only be received by faith. The law being not of faith, it was also impossible to receive the promises and blessings of God in Christ Jesus through the law. The inheritance being by faith, was the reason why Jesus the seed of Abraham came with the gospel of faith. Before Jesus came no one preached faith nor demanded faith from people as a precondition to receiving the promises and the blessings of God.

Jesus as the seed of Abraham had to preach faith because that was the only means all the seed of Abraham including Christ Himself would receive the promise and blessings of God to Abraham. It is for this reason, Jesus intentionally avoided teaching the law or demanding anyone to keep the law or judging anyone according to the law. Jesus came by faith, preached faith, walked by faith, lived by faith and died by faith. And He was raised from the dead by the operation of the faith of God. If Jesus teaching and preaching were centred on the law, no one would have been healed or set free through His ministry. In fact there would have been no single miracle or manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit in His ministry. Under the law God overlooked unbeliefs from people like Manoah and his wife, Gideon, etc but because of the coming of faith God could not overlook the unbelief of Zacharias and the unbelief of people under the ministry of Jesus. Under the ministry of Jesus without faith it was impossible to receive anything from Him. Grace be with you. Romans 1:16-17; 3:23-26; 6:3-14,23; 2Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 2:6-18; 10:4-14; 11:6; Ezekiel 18:4; Galatians 3:6-29; Mark 5:34; 9:23; 10:52; 11:23-24; Colossians 2:12; Judges 6:11-40; 13:1-24; Luke 1:5-23;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 37.

Galatians 3:12-14 (KJV) "And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith."

37. God made an unconditional promise of inheritance to Abraham and His seed who is Christ. The promises and blessings of faith and promises by faith are always unconditional and irrevocable. Being promises or blessings of faith and by faith, the only condition is that they can must be received by faith alone. But whether you receive them or not they are irrevocably yours. Hence the law could not make void the promise, even though the law was conditional. God never made a promise of the law to Abraham and his seed as a precondition for the promise. So the law was never part of God's covenant with Abraham and his seed. Technically, the law was not made for Abraham and his seed Jesus Christ. Even though Jesus came under the law, He was not under the law, hence all through His ministry He did things that showed that He was not bound by the law.

The bible says the law was added because of sin and Jesus had no sin in Him. Also the bible says the law was made for sinners and the unrighteous and Jesus was neither a sinner nor unrighteous. The law was made for the spiritually dead but Christ was a living spirit. So we see that Jesus was not bound by the law. The law was also added by divine wisdom as a stop gap until the fullness of times when the God will fulfill His sworn unconditional promise to Abraham and his seed who is Christ. Since sin had entered the world, God had to use the law to tell all men they were sinners. Jesus was born under the law so that He could bring an end to sin, curses and death which flourished under the law. The bible says the law was added because of transgressions. And the wages of sin is death.

When Jesus conquered sin, curses and death by His death, burial and resurrection, the righteous demand of the law was fulfilled and set aside, so that God can fulfill is eternal promise and blessings to Abraham and his seed. While the law was given only to Israel, the promise was made to Abraham, his seed and the whole world. Hence Jesus came for the blessing of the whole world not just Israel. But because He came under the law, His ministry was first to Israel so that He can first destroy sin and fulfill the law. It was after His resurrection that He is now taking His ministry to the whole world through the Church to fulfill God's sworn covenant promise to Abraham that through him all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

As Jesus fulfilled His earthly ministry by making sure He preached to every city and people of Israel, so Jesus has commanded us His body to take the gospel of the promise of God to Abraham and his seed not only to all nations, but to all the families of the earth as God specifically told Abraham. So it is the responsibility of every believer to take the gospel to every family on earth using every platform God has given us. Today by the grace of science and technology we can reach every nation and most families of the earth from the comfort of our churches, homes and offices. So we have no excuse to fail. Grace be with you. Genesis 12:2-3; 15:13-21; 22:15-18; Galatians 3:6-29; 4:1-7; Romans 3:10-31; 4:1-25; 5:1-2,12-21; 6:23; 8:1-10; 11:29; 2Corinthians 1:20; 5:21; Hebrews 2:14-15; 7:18-19; 10:1-14; 2Timothy 1:10; Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-20; 1Timothy 1:9-10; 2:1-4;

UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 36.

Galatians 3:10-11 (KJV) "For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith."

36. Since the law could not minister life, it could not minister righteousness. The bible says Galatians 3:21 (KJV) "Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe." Since the law could not minister righteousness it ministered unrighteousness and condemnation.

Righteousness exist only in the spirit because God the only righteous one is a spirit. In Christ Jesus we became living spirits and we become the righteousness of God in Him. Whatever cannot minister to the spirit can never produce righteousness. Whatever cannot minister to the spirit is ministering to the flesh. The law being able to minister only to the flesh produced sin instead of righteousness. It magnified sin and condemned all men under sin so that the promise by faith and by the faith of Jesus Christ might be made available to all who believe. Hence only the righteousness of faith and by faith is accepted by God.

Instead of the law ministering to our spirit, it was able to minister only to our flesh and our fleshly minds. The law blinded the minds of the people because it had no light in it. So instead of achieving the light of righteousness through the law, the law unconsciously aided the devil through the flesh to blind the minds of men from the light of the glorious gospel of Christ. So the same law that was given to help man became a big burden and a yoke for man. Hence man needed a Saviour. The word of God is light and the light that lighted every man that comes into the world. But when the law was introduced it blinded the light as symbolised by the veil that Moses wore each time he read the law to the people.

The law indirectly became a veil to the light that comes with the word of grace. This is a note of warning of what the law will do in the heart and minds of believers who try to go back to the law to seek righteousness or holiness. In Christ Jesus the veil has been removed such that as the scripture says 2Corinthians 3:16-18 (KJV) "Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. 17. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord." Grace be with you. Galatians 2:20; 3:1-29; 2Corinthians 3:6-18; 4:3-4; Romans 3:19-26; 7:1-25; 8:1-17; John 1:1-5;

Religion / Understanding What Faith Is. Part 35. by PastorSomba(m): 8:35pm On Jan 21, 2023
UNDERSTANDING WHAT FAITH IS. Part 35.

35. Faith could not be revealed in the old testament because the law being not of faith produced curses instead of blessings. Under the law you must keep the whole law in order to be blessed. The law comprised of moral, ceremonial, traditional and customary laws. The law is also made up of the mosaic covenant, commandments, statutes, ordinances and judgements of God. Under the law you are obligated to keep all. You cannot pick and choose which to obey or which one is convenient for you to obey. If you obey some and fail in one you have failed the whole law, you are a law breaker and you are under a curse for not keeping the law. Hence it was impossible for righteousness to come through the law and it was impossible for anyone to be justified before God through the law or justified to be blessed through the law.

The law therefore was unable to make anyone or anything perfect including the sacrifices since it was impossible to keep the whole law. Being imperfect it was could not be of faith and could not generate faith in them that heard it. Instead of faith it generated condemnation in them that heard it because hearing the law or performing those sacrifices and rituals of the law was a constant reminder to the people that they were sinners and that they were unable to keep the law. The more they heard the law, the more condemned and sinful they felt and became. The condemnation which the law brought destroyed the conscience of the people as their conscience constantly convicted them of their sins every time they heard the law. Only the new testament was able to take away the condemnation and purge our conscience from all the dead works of trying to please God through the law. These inadequacies produced more and more condemnation in those that heard the law. And even today anyone who goes back to the law to seek holiness, righteousness or perfection will suffer the same thing.

The bible says 2Corinthians 3:6-17 (KJV) "Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. 7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: 8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? 9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. 10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. 11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. 12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: 13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: 14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. 15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. 16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. 17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."

The law instead of ministering the Spirit of the word of God, ministered the letters of the word to the people who heard it. Instead of giving the people life the law killed them slowly. Instead of the law ministering life it became a ministeration of death and condemnation. This was so because the law could not minister to the spirits of men but to their flesh. Grace be with you. Exodus 20:1-26; 2Kings 17:36-38; Galatians 2:16; 3:1-3; 5:3; James 2:10-11; Hebrews 5:8-9; 7:11-19; 9:9-15; 10:1-10; Romans 8:1-11;
