Unknown to many, places that harbour more germs and bacterium are not the toilets. Kitchens, computer keyboards, phones, door knobs, remote control devices, game joysticks, etc carry more germs not toilets. I don't mean Ajegunle-type or pit toilets o. |

This is how some Nigerians see "development": building of costly, wasteful and unproductive white elephant projects. |

The world is changing very fast. I still remember my old turn-table and all the stack of LPs. Even after losing the means to play the LPs, I had to keep them for a while because I was attached to the songs. Enter the VCD/CD Age. I bought a special iron shelf for the CDs until last year when I found it to be a nuisance in my house. Even now, I am cracking my brain as to what to do with the CDs because I don't need them again. Why? Because I have a 320GB HDD full of pictures, videos and music. I can transfer some of the music into my Memory Card or Flash Drive and play on any of my appliances - Computer, TV, Music System, DVD, even the car as long as they have a USB. Now how can I buy a CD when am looking for a way to dicard the ones in the house? |

naturalwaves: It seems you are one of those touts. Don't worry, we will continue to expose you guys from now on. Thank God there is all kinds of recording devices everywhere now. Next time I will upload your face and activity on the blogosphere. It is then you will believe the story. For my dear reasonable Nairalanders, we need to realize that a battle exists between the forces of evil and the good. Let us find new ways of exposing these guys who will not allow us to enjoy our fatherland. Remember, we need to pursue the baboon in our neighbor's farm, or else when it finishes with his farm, it will enter our own farm and devastate our crops. |

See our graduates! Do they have dejected, pessimistic view of the future or a hopeful and optimistic outlook?

It is true that people are dying daily in some refugee camps in war-ravaged countries like Somalia, Afghanistan, Syria etc. It is true also that the humanitarian conditions in those camps are quite pathetic. What is more, some of these countries are poor or at least not as rich as Nigeria. Yet you find that in the worst situations, conditions of living there is better than what we have in our oil-rich country. The situation gets more worrisome when you see how our best youths, our future leaders and university graduates are dehumanized in the name of serving the country. Take a look at these pictures and judge for yourself

smokeyupu: This story and countless more are daily occurences on Lagos roads these days. I have stopped driving my car on week days cos of the constant harrassment faced by motorists on Lagos roads. The "TASK FORCES" are so many you dont know which which is which. E better make police catch you than make LASTMA guys hold you. Thank God that we still have some truthful and reasonable people like you on Nairaland. "JJ" came back this evening after 100k was paid. I got more info regarding the event as follows: "Task Force" operatives tailed his car and blocked him in commando style. Two members jumped into the car and directed JJ him to a garage opposite Shoprite. There his car was locked. "Task Force" took JJ to their gulag inside KAI premises, Alausa. The premises doubles as Mobile Court and detention facility. Mobile Court which is in a make-shift room is headed by a female "Judge" who some claim has links to Governor Fashola (not verified). Court judgment took place by 6PM. Three counts where reeled out: obstruction (N30,000), Using the old Driver's Licence which is yet to expire and which they claim is fake (N20,000), Arguing with task force members (50,000). He didn't know who they were initially. JJ was kept in the cell within KAI premises along with 7 others. 24 hours ultimatum was slammed for paying up the N100,000. But next morning by 8AM and before money could be arranged, a "Black Maria type of vehicle came and carried them to Badagry. The Badagry detention facility (jail?) is still under construction and is located on the outskirts of Badagry, towards the border. JJ is yet to collect his car. I hear he will part with some more money before he can get it. |

naturalwaves: I said no receipt was issued. And I did not tell you that we parted with N30,000. I said they asked for N30,000. How will I make you understand the difference? |
![]() |
naturalwaves: Point of information: the officials, a man and a lady demanded for N30,000 in their office and we begged and begged until there was no more saliva in our mouth. Out of frustration, I told my colleague that we should leave, and in fact as I was leaving, a lady (who I could not ascertain if she is a staff or client) called me and asked me to negotiate with them. Eventually, we parted with N5,000. n receipt was issued for the payment. |

Gen. Orumov: Thank you so much. It is comments like yours that are helpful. Knowledge/Information is power. Many of these overzealous junior officials prey on people because they do not know the situation. They expect you to opt for settlement to save your time and inconvenience. |

Sam xiu lee: Oh lord have Mercy,I read through 3 pages and no one can come up with a sensible comment, from okada to keke napep,to kabukabu and op end it all with LAWMA....Hmmmmm I have said it before and I will say it again. I have no problem with Governor Fashola. On LAWMA, I am surprised that just because you haven't experienced it, so it does not happen. Well here is the message sent by a lady from LAWMA at 4:41 PM on the day before they sealed the office the next morning by 7AM. "Ignore if u've paid. Kindly endeavor to pay ur wastebills to avoid embarrasment.... Call XYZ on 080XXXXXXXX for info. TREAT AS URGENT. From LAWMA" We were not sued to any court. As a matter of fact, we expected the LAWMA officials to reconcile their account with Ecobank instead of operating like the old NITEL whereby you go back to reconcile after payment. Remember, they claimed that we never paid anything and they refused to wait till the office was open so that they can see the evidence of payment. In the end, they said pay task force fee. This is not Fashola's fault. But some officials are looking for extra money. You get my point. You say police has no right to detain somebody, abi? Then you must have just returned from UK. |

lastpage: It might surprise you to know that Governor Fashola is my hero among the horde of Nigerian governors. His giant strides in many areas are commendable. I love to watch him speak. He can reel out names of all the nooks and cranies of Lagos and what his administration is doing there. Nevertheless, some of his latter-day transport policies confound me. I suspect some overzealous officials are at work. I also believe that the governor may not like those actions. From what I hear on the street, he is not even responsible for the new policy somersaults(?). People say Opeifa and others are misguiding him. |

fyneboi79: But usually they just impound d car and let the offender go,I doubt this story. So you think somebody can just come out to make up this kind of story? If you follow my post, all I needed is suggestions on how to follow up this case and how to free this guy. Apart from that, the story is meant to get Nairalanders in particular and Lagosians in general to be aware of happenings. If you wish to visit the driver's family, I will give you the address in Ikeja. Only last week, members of "LAWMA Task Force" sealed my office for not paying their bills. Their claim was that we have never paid any bill since the inception of our company. Unfortunately, they came around 7 am when the Manager who kept the files was not yet in the office. All pleadings to let the person come and show evidence of payment fell on deaf ears. It was after we paid the only outstanding bill and went to their office at 9 Awolowo Way to get them to open the gate that we realized the reason for their hurry to lock it. They demanded N30,000 un-official amount "for Task Force" before they could open the gate. Tell me that I also made up this story. I can give you the names of the officials who demanded the money. This is Lagos! 1 Like |

This my guy, I will call JJ was an Okada Rider in Lagos until recently when the Fashola Administration banned (or should I say restricted) the Okada business in most parts of the state. Mr. JJ who has many mouths to feed made a smart move (at least so he thought) by obtaining a loan from a Micro Finance Bank to buy a brand new Keke Marwa. With that, he felt that his future and the future of his transport business is guaranteed. But he was mistaken. Weeks after purchasing the Keke, the government again wielded the big stick by once again "restricting" the Keke use in the state. JJ was confused and did not know what to do. Before long, he got a helping hand from well-wishers in his church to buy a Tokumbo Toyota Camry car for use as "kabu-kabu" He registered the car and got a new plate number and started business. Within one week, members of the Lagos state "Task Force" got him arrested for picking passengers along the road, in an unauthorized bus-stop. They slammed a penalty of N100,000 on him and when he could not pay up, they quickly arranged a Mobile Court and convicted him. before you could say Jack Robinson, they have shipped him to Badagry for imprisonment. All this happened on Friday, 6th of September, 2013. Dear Nairalanders, what help is open to this guy before he rots in jail. 2 Likes |

I was passing by Ikeja Bus Stop the other day and saw this large gathering. When I got closer, I realized that one clever woman is "doing prayer" for those who can part with money for prosperity and blessing in their business. This is not entirely new as you see such tricksters, mostly men in the buses plying some inter-state routes. I was amazed not only that this is a woman, but the kind of woman she is - that "Iya Basira" type of woman. I was also surprised that she came with her own bodyguard (insurance against area boys) and her own trusted Cashier/Accountant. What is more, i was surprised by the level of patronage she was getting and the patrons themselves - young men and women who no longer believe in hard work but the influence of some supernatural power to favor them. Sharp sharp, within minutes, the prayer amazon has completed her task, and all the money gathered in a nylon sack and off she went; to another bus stop. I call that cash-n-carry evangelism. What do you make of it?

mr_king: Dude messed up!!! He should have been smart about it! Right now police can even kill anyone found recording their activities! So if you must record or video any crime scene, you should be smart about it! Make sure you don't get caught!!! The police are even becoming smarter on this matter (you know, once beaten, twice shy). They now have plain cloth officers in every illegal mission. I tried to record them one day at Opebi Roundabout focussing only on the uniformed without realizing that one of them in Mufti was behind me. Your guess as to what happened next is as good as mine. I was mercilessly beaten, my phone smashed, my glasses smashed and I have never been humiliated that way in my life. My Lawyer said I was lucky to get away with my life. |
