Statute barred.
Nothing will come out of this.
Meanwhile INEC has shown that it is just a branch of APC.
It responded to an inquiry from APC with a speed of light but the Presidential Election Petition Court ordered it since March to provide Labour Party with the documents they need to prosecute their case but they have blatantly continued to disobey that order.
No wahala! |

garfield1: Section 77 says submit register 30 days before fixed primaries.it is not talking about members in the register but a simple rule, follow it and avoid sanctions.in any case, this judgment is a moral lesson.technicalities is a double edged sword,it can swing to apc today,lp tomorrow and pdp next.so stop complaining when it favours apc This judgment doesn’t even favour APC. If Otti goes today, it’s PDP that would benefit from it, not APC. |

MetaPhysical: Akpabio visit to Abure faction and invitation to join government of unity is a setup. You failed to see it.
So, Tinubu is trying to take advantage of a gap.
If Abure refused the invite, they will now approach Apapa for unity and nation building. If Apapa accepts, Obi will not return as a LP candidate, or PDP candidate in 2027. https://www.nairaland.com/7694966/court-grants-stay-execution-abureThe only order that gave Apapa the locus to misbehave has been stayed by the same court that issued it. And with that, Apapa is flushed like a shit down the waste pipe never to return to relevance again. You guys think you are up against Ogbomoso town criers. |

How the mighty has fallen!
Wike is now an object of ridicule.
I wish I can get in touch with one of Wike’s strategists so I can get to know the game he’s playing and how he hopes to gain from it.
He has now isolated himself which makes him most vulnerable.
He’s no longer a friend of the Southeast for what he did in Obigbo and for going against Obi.
In his native Southsouth, he is not in good terms with Bayelsa, Delta, Akwa Ibom and Edo States. And demolishing Bayelsa State government property was the lowest of lows that he would have gone.
Unfortunately for him, he’s also not popular in the north.
So right now, Wike’s only allies are the Yoruba which might not even be all of them.
Let’s see what he hopes to achieve with that. |

fergie001: The Supreme Court in February in Ita Enang v. Asuquo made it clear: that it is within the prerogative of any Party to issue waivers to new entrants.
The SC stated that it is within the internal affairs of a Political Party and the Court has no business to meddle into it. So Justice Yunusa had no business whatsoever to say a word on this case. Allow that egbon to continue defending nonsense. This only exposes the reason they make the kind of choices they make. They are so shallow, unintelligent and uninformed. |

favor914: What jurisdiction, LP did not field a legitimate presidential candidate, he was not on the register of members, a month prior to the primaries, so he could not have been sponsored by the party, if you like, quote all the case laws.
A nullity ab initio never existed, has no jurisdiction. You should be limiting how you talk about some certain things to avoid people thinking of you in a way they are not supposed to think of you. Do you know that political parties have what is called waiver? With waiver, I can defect to a party this night and become their candidate by morning and no court of law can question that. Section 77 of the Electoral Act said that a political party must submit its register not later than 30 days before their primaries but did it also say that whoever his/her name is not found on the register cannot be sponsored by the party? Huh? |

seunmsg: I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that the judgement will be upturned. However, until the judgement is set aside by a superior court, it remains valid.
Btw, it’s really funny you’re now hiding under technicalities to defend Labour Party. You can’t even deny the fact that the judgement is sound in law. It is the exact position of the law and nothing else. Good enough, APC also raised the same issue in her cross petition to the tribunal. We will be waiting to see what the tribunal will decide.
Hopefully, when some of the issues raised by Peter Obi are also similarly decided by the technicalities you’ve employed on this thread, we can all keep the same energy and not insult the judiciary. The judgment is not sound in anyway or manner. It’s as watery as a watery poo. And there’s no comparison between the case and Obi’s case against Tinubu. Don’t compare them. At least you should sound more reasonable after reading what Fergie wrote up there. Abi you no read am? |

But one thing is sure, all the jankara judgements up and down cannot stand the test of higher legal litigations.
Judiciary is seriously on trial Very much on trial. And APC helped put them on the spot with their “go to court” rhetorics as if the court was their sure appendage. I’m sure the Judiciary will be grappling to salvage whatever remnant of integrity they have left. You can see that it has started with the PEPT Panel Chair warning lawyers that the court won’t entertain technicalities. Let’s continue to keep our fingers crossed. |

NigerianAngelo: If only his coup went through. He intended to cut off the core North - Buhari and El Rufai.
May God bless his work. Gideon Orkar’s coup would have been the best thing to happen to Nigeria if it succeeded but he was too much in a haste. He started making consequential announcements without first securing power. All he needed to do was calm down, complete power takeover and appoint his loyalists across all military formations before launching his plans. But he hadn’t done of these and he went ahead to announce that the core north has been yanked off from Nigeria until they stop being troublesome. But his coup did not fail… It is said that before his coup, military parades were held in Hausa in barracks and only Hausas held command positions and other juicy positions. But the coup exposed the deep seated hatred officers of other regions had held against the core northerners and from then the military has never gone back to the pre-Orkar coup era. May God continue to rest his soul! May he continue to rest in power. |

fergie001: No.... He made the orders, those are numberings based on the prayers of the plaintiff.
The National Legal Adviser that was removed stood in for LP in Court. When the Abure people heard about, they sent their own Counsel who was not allowed to represent the Party. It was all planned!
What happened was that he purposely wanted the confusion and panic. Otti will definitely appeal... He made a judgement without consequential order so this cannot invalidate the inauguration but he will do well to take the leave of Court and appeal. Yeah. I agree with you that Otti should not take the judgment lying low. He should Appeal the judgment to stave off any eventualities. You see how hydra headed the forces we are fighting in this country are. But I’m happy the FCT High Court has stayed execution of its order let me see what Apapa and his co travelers will rely on to cause problem. They don’t know who they are up against. |

Always try to read the full length of court proceeding and outcome before giving your thoughts.
Secondly, a Federal highcourt anywhere in Nigeria has jurisdiction over any state in Nigeria. A FHC in river state has jurisdiction over Bornu's politics in court. https://www.nairaland.com/7695453/labour-party-kano-judge-denies#123240256What were you saying again? Have a great day
The same kind of judgement was given 2019 and all APC candidates were thrown away in Rivers https://www.nairaland.com/7695453/labour-party-kano-judge-denies#123240256I’m sure you have heard that the judge has denied issuing any such judgment. The case you are citing was in Zamfara in 2019. And it was INEC that refused to accept APC candidates in Zamfara because they conducted their primaries outside the INEC Timetable. The court simply agreed with INEC. Again it happened in Rivers after the Court agreed with Magnus Abe tendency of Rivers APC that they were excluded from the Primaries of APC in Rivers. But these two cases were filed within 14 days of the occurrence of those events. In Abia case, this individual woke up after 1 year to file the case. Who does that? And that’s even asides the fact that the facts of the case are not the same. |
