Exactly! My mum told me that traditional marriage is the real deal. The rest are formalities. After my traditional marriage, in the evening I waved at my husband that we'll see later, my mum shouted for where? You're going with him! You don't have a place here anymore. That was how I left house with little or nothing cause I wasn't prepared. I later came for my things.

Even as I type now, the memory is bringing tears to my eyes. I wanted to get married, I was excited about marriage but I wasn't prepared to leave my mom and everyone else. So I thought I'll just throw the party, everyone would eat then I'll return to being my normal self. I was shocked! Many times I wonder why seemingly seem less things become war in Nigeria. E transactions can give somebody headache ehn! Dunno maybe we're not ripe enough or something. Now these ones don commit because of one or several incompetent fools sitting inside AC.

About a month ago, I wanted to withdraw money, 5k, from the ATM, I was debited meanwhile I got no money. It was a Sunday morning. I thought they'll credit my account, nothing for 2 days. I called the bank customer care on Tuesday morning, they wanted to kill me with politeness. The lady said latest in 3 days, the error will be rectified. Upon the sweet talk, they didn't remit the money until 2 weeks later. Wetin concern me, I didn't disturb them with any call, I didn't even bother them, I just know that the day I will visit any of their branches, they will know say craze find dem come. But lucky them, they sent my money after 2 whole weeks!

When I visited Abeokuta about four years ago, there was a market my driver passed through where they sold all sorts of fetish items from dried up reptiles and insects to dried up birds and primates. The whole place smelled very bad, but the people were all comfortably sited in the stench emanating from the worn out stalls that littered the street.

Ritual killing and it's attendant evils are not restricted to only Southwestern Nigeria. Many if not all African tribes practise some form of voodooism, even the whites. If you are knowledgeable about history, the voodooism practised in most Caribbean countries (Jamaica, Cuba, Bahamas etc) today are transported from Ibo land, fallback from the slave trade era. Go figure!

Myself and a colleague went to get some items for the workplace at Idumota. We picked many items. As the man and the sales girl got each item and told us the price, I was writing the price against each item. I had my sum total. We asked the man to calculate his, he did and was short by about 35k. We asked him to do again, he still got the same amount. We then showed him ours and asked him to calculate a third time, that was when he realized his mistake and was full of prayers. My colleague told him Jesus would punish us if we dared to go with the money. He's a Muslim but that action made him thank Jesus for appreciate him the more.

OP, you did well. Especially in these difficult times, temptation may be strong but it pays not to yield. God doesn't owe anyone, He will surely recompense.

During my early teenage years, they thought I was possessed at home. So my uncle-in-law convinced my mum to allow him take me there.

I really couldn't remember many things that transpired. I remember I was there a couple of times or so. The services were usually long - from morning till around 4pm, I remember they made me wait to see their shepherd. Can't remember what they said about me. I was indifferent cause I know deep inside me, I wasn't possessed. I'm just somebody weird, I'd do things my way not following the norm. Part of my crime then was I usually woke up at night to wash, sweep, fetch water, iron etc.

The irony is, every of those things, I still do them till tomorrow in the night. Last Saturday, I threw clothes in the washing machine at exactly 2:45am. Yesterday, I ironed my office wears at about the same time. My husband even came to the laundry room to gist with me. He didn't see me beside him, he knew where to search. We joked over it. As far as I'm concerned, I owned the 24 hours grace as given by God. I can do whatever thing at whatever time. Shikena!
