Skyfornia:Your attitude is good and commendable. But we are talking about a system, while it's true people make up the system, it is the right people that make the system work, which in turn builds confidence that makes it sustainable. Right now, NIMC failed to build that confidence for the people to have been motivated to get enrolled. Unlike the BVN which was done at various branches of banks, and the PVC which was done by people deployed to polling units, the NIMC was earlier centralised, and still maintains very few centres till date. So you wake, go there to queue for hours without knowing if you'd be captured, c'mmon, for a very busy person you know what this will mean. So let the agency do its part well so that when the citizens fail it will be glaring who's at fault. |
Queenlovely:10 years old a divorcée? Wow This one too was killed at 17 and is said to have courted for 6 years, that's she started when 11. |
Skyfornia:Be sincere, how many of you got the ID (hard copy not slip) after a short while? It has taken too long for many, and a lot yet to get. How wouldn't this failure of the agency affect public perception of the ID. This is national identification we are referring to, not some ordinary ID. |
SilverNorGold:You are trying to be patriotic and that is good but saying Nigerians refused to move until force is applied pertaining this NIMC ID is totally out of point and untrue. You know how so many were captured and for over five to six years haven't gotten the ID card, except for the slip which over time gets damaged if not well stored. That failure in itself discouraged so many from going to enroll since most of those who did never got the card. And this agrees well with the point made by the person you quoted that an ultimatum is given to an agency that isn't ready. In this era of technology capturing, verifications and eventual issue of ID shouldn't be such an issue, yet it is with us. |
MyOpinion1:What happened is highly unfortunate and saddening. But for purpose of discuss I'd like to point out that most deviants you see might not necessarily be as a result of bad parenting, but combination of so many factors. The lessons we can take from what just happened is that there is need for shortcode Emergency numbers that anyone can call and get help as quickly as possible, not those 11 digits GSM numbers dolled out that you call and no response. If there was such emergency dial, those who witnessed those people on bike trying to rob the guy would have signalled the police and subsequently get emergency help for him when he was shot. Another lesson is lighting and CCTV surveillance of streets. Sadly, this is the sorry state Nigerians found themselves in and it's like it may not go anytime soon with all the kidnappings, banditry, terrorism. |
CSTRR:With all sense of responsibility what would have been Abike Dabiri's role in this case? Or what could she have done or not that allowed this to happen or hindering the success of investigation? |
AroleOduduwa2:Very sad. But it may not be because of Samsung phone, rather the content, judging by the fact that he was good in tech and had won award. If he had met those robbers there, it might have made more sense saying it is robbery, but the guys coming on bike might point to some people trailing him to gain access to stuff on his phone. |
post=98115176:(Your/Our) Darling daddy, Baba suppose clear this "connections" something, rather it got stronger and even took another turn, ended in disappointment. Note that. |
naptu2 on the beat again. Thorough and educative reporting, Weldon. |
yeme7:OK sir. Enjoy your 'wisdom'. |
nautybride:Not just the church purse but so many lives will be affected in their absence- their families, friends and others who rely on them. For instance, I opened this thread to read the content, only to realize the statement was made at the burial of a man I know. Met him somewhere in Nigeria where he worked and resides. This man lend me handsome sum and told me to pay back when I get it. I paid him after two years. He was detribalized. Didn't even know he was a missions supporter till now am reading it. I can tell you there are Muslims who will miss him too. Truly a cheerful giver is gone and if ECWA makes such statement about supporters going due to covid, universities are losing professors, political sphere experiencing same, hmm, then we need guard ourselves and loved ones. |
yeme7:See Just ensure you stay safe, protecting yourself and loved ones. In Nigeria it is real, ... Speaking from experience, you have no idea the feeling when that thing gets the best of your immune system, I tell you, you have no idea. Don't wish it. Just stay safe. Our government might not have given us reason to trust them, but on this issue let's play our part for our sake. |
amazing101x:Start with one first, then come back and tell us if you can afford (not finance-wise o) to add another. |
naptu2:Your reporting is topnotch. I see you as something (mind you not only someone) else, entirely out of the league of Nairaland reporters, from investigative prowess to presentations... Don't you have a blog or something? |
TransAtlanticEx:She has a long way to go, ...a very long way! Someone with her kind of mentality, despite reading posts that show she and her mum goofed, still has time telling you she can feed your family for ages, so unfortunate! |

God bless you. I wish I could like your comment a million times. |
GayPontiff:Case of Kettle calling pot black. She is quick to grab first to comment spot to type that rubbish yet accusing the unfortunate lady of doing gra gra. |
DuBLINGreenb:Especially that of South Africa, it showed stability of a working system, where executive interference is minimal. The House of representatives signify equality of citizens, every citizen is represented by a member there. The position by the AGF is funny, the National Assembly can impeach a President but cannot invite same to come and explain important issues such as security? Ours is a sorry and shameless state, very unfortunate. |
Nbotee:There are two PDP governors in the northwest, let's hope this is not inferring it's one of them because instead of having solution it will further be politicized while people suffer. |
Etinosa1234:The first issue is not even about not appearing due to isolation, rather refusal to accept the summon. Yet excuse is given that top military officers are in isolation due to covid. Time shall tell. That poster obviously is playing someone's card and tends to buy likes recently. |
post=96872433:You explain like a pro. Your darling daddy doesn't like/condone the sight of gamblers o, just so you know! ![]() |
GayPontiff:Thank you. To think all we read is the OP's version of the story and knowing how well people tend to paint themselves good with their own version of the story I bet that lady did more graciously to him and probably saw ills (don't want to use word hell here) from him. Lazy guy making what government workers (FG) at level 8 and above make yet unable to plan his life, despite having expenses covered by a girl in love! Some guys are the reason some women decide never to be supportive in relationship. |
perryy:Aptly written, except that poisoning part I beg to differ. But you really captured all I wanted writing the OP. After reading his story (which happens to be his version) I can't but see that lady as an angel, one that can be a true support if given chance to. It really got me wondering if the OP made the story up just to send home message against premarital sex or sex with those with multiple partners (cause I didn't read it when the girl's details were still on display). Or could it still be another ploy to drive calls to that line? Otherwise, it beats every imagination why someone who makes average N120k monthly (5k times 6 = 30k weekly) and who does not have to spend on food, clothing and most times accommodation, abuse opportunity he got to better his life despite having suffered unemployment post graduation... ?You made money lots of graduates in state and even some FG agencies don't make in a month (and in your case your expenses are even covered by someone who loves you), yet you are here spewing all these and seeking to blame one who meant you good. That OP really needs to change orientation and also approach that lady for forgiveness, cause her only sin in this case was she had faith and fell in love with the wrong person! |
Bigggloadofcum:I am quoting the above verbatim for the OP and any other in similar situation, there's no better! |
Casemiro:The fact it did some time ago only to return shows it is just its position of seeking a mate, usually when they are on heat and want to mate thats what they do, in fact, if two males meet at that spot it is usually serous fight, you sef will know they are fighting. Your worry should be the disturbance, which will still stop after some days. Best is to just stone it, it will run, may return same night, but if you do two to three times it won't. |
Very unfortunate. The Cameroonian American and Ganduje have just earned themselves and others a bad name, hence further putting off the light of intending migrants. |
We4all:The person's monicker says it all, sick in the head. |
KhalifaJnr:Let me be human and tell you sorry over your losses, else I'd have laughed at your foolishness! Betting is not a career and shouldn't be, reason they say bet what you can afford to and comfortably lose. You went staking too high, and this in itself says few things about you that you need to fix- 1. Don't be so much in a rush to make plenty money at a very high expense such that you throw caution to the wind, it is called 'greed' and it makes you vulnerable to losses and regrets afterwards. This differs from taking calculated risks in normal day to day businesses. 2. That a friend of yours introduced/lured you into betting tells that you also have to work on your decision making. Be independent. Anyone can bring up suggestions, but it's left to you to analyze and arrive at a conclusion on what to do, so accept responsibility. Finally, I'll say you are fortunate because you are alive to tell your story and can recover and be better at not betting but doing what you did earlier that brought what you lost via betting, except if it was inherited, which I'll say move on with what you got out of it - experience. Most importantly, don't over flog yourself because you made those mistakes, they form part of life, what matters is how you dust yourself up and forge ahead! There's no success without a story. |
Engrgabi:Do you want to marry her? Does she take you serious? Does she love you like you love her? Does she act like a serious minded person? Does she accept when she is wrong and is open to correction? If all answers to above are 'Yes' then sit with her and have adult talk. Open up to her on what you saw too on her phone and the commitment you want to make to her despite all that, provided she ends that and shows amenability to change. Again, about seriousness or not since you showed she has MSc already and going in for PhD definitely you shouldn't judge her seriousness or otherwise from phone chats but real-life interaction and actions. Note that some Nairalanders here will tell you all sort of things like she's f**ing around, she's olosho, pu**y f*cked can always be fu*cked etc. jargons, no mind them o. In the end it is your life and your joy that matters. A lot of ladies and guys are into naughty chats and all that, but the serious ones quit to settle down for a life! |
Offpoint1:Must you live up to your moniker? @ the boldened. |
Missylady:Happy married life. Both of you look adorable. May your marriage be so. Cheers. |
onyechez:Digital world has come to stay in this generation and gaming is one of the products, you also can't take away the enormous energy it vibrates among youths. Its role in the economy is enormous- and the economy is government's interest world-over. The Esport mentioned in the post definitely means a lot of gambling, however there are those who will engage in it without gambling and for such category we can't say Esport is gambling in totality. Again, gambling is a choice and world over it is regulated to allow participation by adults only. Just get the drift here, huge money(investment), energy and interest is involved and no serious government will shut its ears and eyes to allow it go uncontrolled and untapped! |
