Mr. Troost.... sometimes eh... walahi.... no vex eh... kai.... you know what I mean.... can you consider carefully.... some small, tiny, minuscule, sub atomic.... truth.... .... |
How the mighty has fallen. To launch an assurance on account of 'Cape Verde' is just astonishing. In the good ol days we will be debating whether it will be a win by 5, 6 or 7. Guess they have all moved on from that while we stood still.... And as typified by Ighalo our savior.... actually retrogressed. |
nairalandankrah:Not interested. We saw this last week. Give us fresh atrocities pls. |
omowolewa:Hmmm....why do I feel this is a riddle..... ....'Take the court to court.....'....??*!*?!!*?&?.... ![]() |
What a mess. Where are those who say government can do 'business'. They should ask themselves whether they have heard telecoms go down to strikes since 2002. The government is sending the railways down the same paths of infamy as other parastatals and give it another decade and the 'legacy" will be gone. Rather by now the two existing lines, Abuja-Kaduna and Lagos-Ibadan should have been concessioned and the proceeds reinvested into new lines instead of further loans. But the very nature and structure of Nigeria forbids anything working well in our climes. Good luck to them. They have caught the strike bug and it is downhill from here. |
Any time this wasteful government tell you it has no money to meet its legitimate obligations towards the citizens remind them of this. |
BlackPantherxXx:Not good enough. |
Aganju849:They call it 'swallow' and it is swallowing up destinies big time..... Nigerians and unhealthy eating... |
Tomahawk99:

He is absolutely correct. Elections do have serious consequences and the choices we make determine the experiences we enjoy or suffer over time. What else is responsible for this if not incompetent leadership. Nigeria is not the only country on earth but one beseiged by so much problems because those empowered to make life better have no idea of how to, simple. We lack serious capacity and competence at the very top.... or are you volunteering to personally solve the inflation menace in Nigeria today?. |
Auba is officially playing for Watford. |
Poor Arsenal display. Half the team appears disinterested and Auba to take the pen was a mistake. You could smell the miss from the kickoff. These days my opinion about pen takers is simple. The hottest player on that team gets the nod even if it the keeper and the best player so far has been Ben White. Lokonga just in front of him is barely hanging on. Not Premiership quality. |
I suppose it is water baptism being referred to. Water baptism is essentially a 'church' thing, a church event so I guess to activate the doctrine of a particular denomination it is necessary to be baptised into it or the Word may be of no effect and the hearer may gain no understanding of where God leads through that particular mission. Baptism of the Spirit on the other Hand is essentially the work of the Lord, the blessing of the gift of His Spirit, a believer essentially needs to communicate with God, to gain understanding of the Word, and to be empowered to walk after God. Without the baptism of the Holy Spirit, a Christian is essentially blind, deaf and in most cases dumb. Not a pleasant experience in this wicked world, believe me. |
Not only prayer but a deep dive into the Word. Fasting is the place of communion/communication with God. That is the essential reason. Prayer is speaking and the study of the Word is the usual path of reply from above. If a person is not ready for both then it is better not to waste anyone's time. In the world we live today, fasting or living a fasted life is extremely hard. The sacrifice involved goes beyond abstinence from food or water but more importantly involves giving ones time to the Word and prayer, hardly what you can do on the job, in business or other vocatiins . That is why the true Christian fast is rare and this is also why for those who purpose in their hearts to 'wait upon the Lord', they often receive the rewardmof their faiths in double quick time. It is a real known fact in the faith that God Almighty responds quicker in our time than in biblical times when there was a lot less contemporary distractions even though they spent much more time with Him, in His Presence than the average Christian today. That is grace. |
In a way dates are important because the very nature of God is atuned to such details. We are asked to commemorate certain dates when specific Godly interventions took place as marks of remembrance and thanksgiving. Such that if some event at which an important gift was given, it is important that the date is marked and recalled from time to time to honour the giver. Having said that the value of the gift can be regarded as more important than the date it was given, so it matters more what salvation and new birth means to the recepient and the greater the value accorded, the better placed will the recipient be to remember and perhaps record. I am generally not good with calendar dates but I can clearly remember the day I gave my life to Christ, the event and the ministration that led to it. That I'm cannot forget for the rest of my life. True, genuine conviction unto new birth is a once in a lifetime experience that simply cannot be forgotten. |
IAMPEDRO:Indeed. Apart from the fact that in most cases there are no alternatives, is there any economic sense in shrinking the competitive space by boycotts. As an example. If one out of the big 4 telecos were to hike its tariff and thus commit economic suicide by consumer boycott, isn't it more than likely the consumer will ultimately lose out down the line to the impending forces of monopoly. These are the reasons why I say, inflation is not an individual malaise but a general one of which the only solution lies with those who pull the strings and levers of productivity, government. When prices/costs rise it is them that tinker with demand and supply through credit, tariffs, ease of doing business, subsidies, andcall the tools they have to influence macro economics in general, all in a bid to regulate productivity. To cool it down if it is too hot and to heat it up if it is too cool. You can see what the US is doing for instance about energy prices. Urging OPEC to open up the taps because inflation is rising in the States. While over here government is doing NOTHING, ZERO, about rising energy prices. Americans, British, Europeans are not saying let us boycott gas, fuel or boycott one fuel station/company or another. They recognise what the problem is and work with their governments to take action because that is the level at which it can be tackled. Here we are still beclouded with sentiment so as a people cannot summon a unified demand for concerted action to tackle the worsening economy. |
The OP and most responders donot understand how economies work in capitalist societies such as ours. Inflation is a macro economic influence... infection of sorts, that has no single individual entity, business, enterprise, company as a vector uptil a point when that individual or corporate entity's economic footprint exceeds the combined productive capacity of the rest of the country. This means that no matter how powerful that individual is, that company or union is, it cannot trigger a cascade of price hikes across the entire economy if the economy remains resilient. Thus the source of inflation is always at the place of control of economic activity, which is domiciled with government. Practically speaking. If a bag of Dangote cement remained N800 where it was two decades ago, it will have absolutely no effect on the cost of a bag of rice, or a trip to Lagos by air or a litre of petrol at the pumps and vice versa. It is the forces of national administration that control the rudder of overall productivity in an economy that determine what things cost on the shop floor everywhere in the world. Because of that, good governments always keep a keen eye on inflation with fire extinguishers at a ready. Politicians fear it more than popular insurrections. Citizens demand government action at the slightest hint of it. And finally, at the polls they elect leaders who understand its dangers and are intellectually equiped to handle it. Unfortunately... Not in Nigeria. |
blasterman:That is why we have been speaking out about our dietary regime in this country which is basically pro diabetes. Practically every staple is carbohydrate and due to knowledge deficit and lack of investment in broader staples, healthier options are generally more expensive. Beans is more expensive than maize, andneven rice which is not indigenous to Nigeria is cheaper than soya. Fruits, nuts and other legumes are almost out of reach as staples. Then there is the cultural aspect. Most folks donot know any form of protein consumption outside the more dangerous, high cholesterol ones and when combined with a passion for their puddings (swallow) and high calorific soups it leads to a lifetime of health damage that is exceptionally hard to reverse as age takes its toll. We need to take these things seriously since we cannot seem to be able to organise a viable healthcare system at any level. |
slimfit1: ...Chicken and egg question, lost on most Africans who simply donot understand how economies are built or prosperous societies are formed.Well, simple. The answer lies in the question..... supposedly 3,000 jobs will be 'created'. That's how it starts. For in 'sane societies' you 'create' first before you 'afford'. Only in rent seeking economies such as ours where everyone is either a contractor or trader do folks think of prospering without productivity. Have enough people actively in production and there will be more than enough people to afford whatever they make. |
obailala:Let us start from the very beginning. What is government?... We come together and agree to make you leader amongst us, to organise us along values and direct us towards progress, prosperity and peace and all of a sudden we have to kneel down to beg you for crumbs out of our collective patrimony. By what black magic do these so called politicians blind these sorry folks that they cannot see the chains they bear even in the most fiery hardship. How can this be? What is happening in this country for heavens sake.... |
Disgusting. The PDP has learnt nothing so they should repeat another term in the political black hole from whence they peep. Nonsense people. And to the retards selling their future for a morsel.... may your days of hardship be extended till your senses are found. |
No matter how much of a critic of this man you are.... just acknowledge that we are witnessing the greatest goal scorer of all time. At his age, this is just phenomenal. |
Wow, what has happened to Ikoyi. In those days it was a quiet, serene place of ultra low density occupancy. Remember lived in that area for a couple of years and you could literally hear a pin drop. Why can't we just sustain any form of values in this part of the world. |
DownChelsea:No one said he was ever in contention. That is my opinion that counts for nothing. Like I said. They want a pansy, they have a pansy and they will get the kind of results pansy's deliver. They have much, much more to lose than I can ever imagine as a fan of soccer in general, one that wants to see a much more competitive league. In those days United had a coach quality rating of between 1 to 3. Right now in the EPL I can count 5 and above gaffers better than the Norge. This is simply not right for a club of that pedigree. |
DownChelsea:So, so wrong. The nature of United's problems has Conte as a real solution. No doubt the talent is there but in Ole you do not have a strict disciplinarian and a match day leader. United is clearly a team without significant coaching input, a team that cannot respond to changing adversity, that has lost its ability to turn matches around as in times past. Ole is clearly too soft, nothing like the intensity of Sir Alex and exactly what Conte has. Moreover Italian soccer has this knack for working well with aged players. Serie A is full of them and I believe he will have no problem working with the two oldies in front. Finally as a former defender Conte will have been the best solution to the shambolic United rear guard. Perfect fit in my opinion. Someone who will have told truth to the Glazer powers. Perhaps they knew that and will rather settle for a pansy. |
MangekyoAlt:Remove 'Woe' man.... Koeman from that list. What is his pedigree... |
Wow.... Manchester United has lost out big time..... the last marquee gaffer in Europe is gone.... |
Burning a whole lot of carbon to attend a meeting that will not move the status quo ante one inch..... This world will come to an end by the almighty greed. |
dapolaw: |
Real Madrid knows when a player is done and no matter how highly placed he is, they just pull the plug. Raul Gonzalez, Iker Cassilas, Cristiano Ronaldo and now Sergio Ramos..... they continually asses the performances of their players backed with a critical cost/benefit analyses and pull the plug when it no longer makes economic sense no matter the sentiment. That is why they remain financially stable despite Covid while their storied rivals are essentially bankrupt, both in cash and in player assets. They knew Sergio was essentially finished. Now let us see the anointing by which PSG wants to raise the dead. |
klonboi:The widespread poverty ravaging Nigeria is a stark reality. |
SERAP should trigger a pan Nigeria movement of individuals and corporate organisations to place a moratorium on paying taxes till the government takes concerted action on this matter. It is highly regrettable that government has constituted itself into a wicker basket for the corporate resources of this country and the long suffering people of his country can no longer continue to 'feed the bears'. |
