Insinuation:That is for the people to decide. As to whether they want managers, entrepreneurs or technocrats in authority. In my opinion, I think with the present challenges through the length and breadth of Nigeria, we should all usher in the era of technocrats. It is too clear to anyone who has a mind to think that sentiment has been our bane the deeper we have driven into this democratic experiment, sentiment that has not been able to handle and solve any fundamental challenge as posited by the economic and security decay. It is time we have a set of people in authority who value ideas and have the temperament to attract, promote and support those who think through issues and debate solutions. |
Indispensable85:The structure of Nigeria that cannot aggregate standards and values. A structure that cannot define the minimum standards and qualifications of leadership at all levels. A people that cannot decide or agree on the tools of development because they cannot understand how democracy works... towards development. |
SouthSouth1914:Oga, I sincerely disagree with you. Corruption can never end if a society has not penalties to dish out. If you are personally a victim or your family, community or country, you owe it a duty to act against it, not embrace or excuse it. When will we as Nigerians get fed up with people and practices of corruption. I rather think both you and Siasia are actually demanding people act sentimentally by accepting clear indiscretions. Don't you think if the NFF had harboured him they would have been accused of being accessories and put the whole institution in jeopardy. Corruption is just bad, plain and simple. People should just steer clear of it. In sports and soccer in particular there are far too many temptations and equally many searching eyes to catch out indiscretions. |
Oga Siasia, that is the way it should be. That is the way it happens in sane societies as a deterrent to corruption, if not there is no incentive to live, work and play clean. |
kindlyheart:Well the sightings through the ages have been thought to occur around locations of significant technological and military value. Whay does Nigeria have of any significance in that regards. |
robosky02:This is not the Super Eagles A Team, this is the Nations League team and it is for home based players. Rohr is not officially the coach of that team just a technical adviser and the match will not be FIFA rated. However Nigeria has not done well in the two or so appearances so far in the Nations league tournaments. Having said that I still insist Rohr should have been sent packing since 2018 after ridiculous plays in Russia. He is a poor tactician and serial match day bottler. |
ProjectJosh:Oga stop threatening people for your failure to do diligence. The structure of your investment is simply faulty if tgis can happen without recourse. The same we are often muffed hearing how a government official can make away with billions unchecked from government coffers. The first rule of investment is security. What was in place? |
Ayemileto:Sound thinking. Not the ranting of dolts who cannot comprehend details and cannot assimilate history. He was a military administrator at a time of great uncertainties and difficulties around Nigeria, the Abacha led Federal Government and the Nigerian military. |
Abba114:Stop that nonsense. Don't think we are all ignoramuses. All fire retardants are chemical or bio-chemical agents and the standard colour for such containment vessels is blue because they are likely poisonous. Materials stored in yellow containers are classified as combustible or flammable. So will it not be daft to pour flammable material into your fire truck to fight fire eh? And by the way chemical fire retardant agents on fire trucks have a separate tank towards the base like that of an automobile and dozing into the main reservoir is done by pumps in a controlled manner depending on the severity of the fire. What you see are vegetable oil cans....And no one I know fight fire with oil. |
socialmediaman:And the present leadership has taken the decay of the social fabric of this nation to unprecedented levels entrenching clannishness and ethnocentrism to such depths the average Nigerian left in the lurch vows that if power comes their way it will be all for themselves and nothing for others....not even 5 percent ....complete zero. Hard to see how Nigeria is getting out of this quicksand when his people keep on pouring cement into the mix. |
Maxymilliano:Noticed that too. His media people are just dense upstairs. |
Tapout:He was. The waist strap tore through his innards. Common with high speed sudden stops, one of the reasons why airbags were introduced. Seatbelts have limited safety value the higher the impact speed. |
Nice. Very nice. Good one LASG. |
MansoryMX:It is called 'Armoured'. 'Bulletproof' is local lingo. |
I have nothing good to say about the man. He just wasted his life. I always speak about those who consider themselves kings and princes, value their lives to such an extent the guard it with all diligence. Folks, there are predators out there, male female, young and old, white, black, rich and poor. Know them and fight to avoid them with every sinew of your strength and wisdom in your head. Help us reserve our sympathies for victims of accidents. This cruel world punishes the careless. |
RZArecta:Word. Consequences indeed. Not because he is my tribesman or it is our turn... We will get there.... Suffering sometimes is good for the soul. When next we approach the polls, know that an error will take at least four whole years to correct and more likely eight. |
fertilewomb:With the police and medical examiners certainly short on competency to determine exactly what transpired she has enough elbow room to walk the high wire between manslaughter and premeditated murder which in these parts can mean the difference between 25 to life or the noose. The bottom line for her will be the victim's family"s appetite for revenge. With money on their side, they can literally bury her alive. And I trust the embarrassed, enraged wife of the victim who by now will be saying to friends, '....just look at the small rat that is dragging my name through the mud...' |
Apparently the first page, front row seats has been reserved by the storied apologists of a failed government seeking solace in tragedies in other climes. Such a pity. Sick, twisted and demented thinking. Perhaps we should open a register or a club of tragic occurrences for frequent gatherings of failed citizens. |
triple996:Just like fake replicas always shadow and leech off the biggest and best products. Speaking about the source of this whole brouhaha, that is why when you are in a position where your words matter and can be easily manipulated against you, you speak in a wise, cultured and circumspect manner. It is simply called leadership. You and I can say what we like because our words will never be faked, twisted or manipulated. They count for nought. But as they say, uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. Well, the bottom line is that we asked for it. We demanded a speaking leader and we got it full blow in the gut. |
Full blown monarchial rule. All hail the king. Folks, if you cannot fight for your liberties they will get eroded one step after the other till you wake up one day and find youraelf a slave in the Egypt of antiquity. |
They say it encourages parking the bus at home. What will happen now is that teams will drive the bus to the away venue and park it there instead. The thing is that no matter the strategy teams will just adapt to it and after a few years UEFA will find itself switching back. Bus parking, aka ultra defending is sport and a legitimate part of the beautiful game. Even basketball with per second turnovers and humongous score lines like Nigeria's inflation and unemployment rate has defence as legit plays. No sport is just attack, attack, attack.... The rate at which these euro soccer eggheads are going very soon the position of goalie will be abolished aka netball or he will play with one hand tied behind his back and his boots filled with cement to guarantee cricket scores. |
executive12:Don't mind them. To put power where the services are needed, wherw tje stress is felt. But they say no. They want to patch up the horribly dilapidated security architecture prevalent when it is patently obvious it is failed. Or they support unauthorized, unconstitutional, lame duck agencies that are basically vigilantes, untrained, unarmed and without powers of prosecution. And the people victims sit still hoping in vain that those who fear the loss of central power will have mercy upon them.... The basic day to day sufferings and experiences of the horror story telling Nigerian all boiks down to the dysfunctional society he lives in. The day his intellect can handle this truth will be the day of his historic liberty. |
othermen:When we begin to marry our sad experiences with our choices of leadership and handling of those empowered to organise society on our behalf then these things can change. Who are they complaining to, a government they cannot control?? When we wail for restructuring and the decentralisation of the security services they will continue to support the governments that insist on keeping things the way they are. Please let us be. |
AlhajiBitcoin:Dortmund, Lille, Ajax, etc are the real MVP's of modern footy. Cashing out on desperate big headed clubs. Substituting trophy cash for modern day slavery. |
ichidodo:They don't even need those surveillance aircraft anymore. Each carrier is tracked by a dedicated DOD satellite. Nothing comes near it even the feared hypersonic missiles will be seen hundreds of miles away. |
mofedamijo:Just donot understand their beef with a 36 year old. Expecting him to be running around like a teenager after almost two decades in the game. How many 36 year olds get to make tournaments thoughtless of delivering results. Ronaldo simply plays the game these days for the records, period. Everything else he has proven beyond doubt. The Portugal team needs him more as a talisman and inspiration because he has seen it all and done it all, absolutely unfazed by anything. No team, club or country will not wish to have him play for them even for five minutes. Like it or not. Without him in that team, France will have been bolder to play better last night and will have overrun Portugal. Everyone that plays against him will have doubts abd exercise caution. |
noisy45:And how do you hope to end NATO. NATO is presently the largest and most resourced military alliance in the history of the world. The industrial and technological capacity of NATO States dwarfs anything any eastern axial alliance (Russia and China) can muster. Then they have powerful and resourceful allies in Japan, Korea and Australia in Asia.... Oga. Forget it. Russia and China at this stage are simply not strong enough in the factors that matter in a prolonged conflict. The only hope is that being civilised nations, knowing the implications of a global conflict, NATO and western powers are thankfully the last people to opt for that end game. |
noisy45:Land mass will not matter in a nuclear war. What makes for survival are utilities and supplies: power, water, food production and industrial plants and I assure you all those are already mutually targeted. No one will survive a nuclear war in any semblance of civilisation, governments or authority. Whoever survives will be reset back to the stone age, long before civilisation and anything resembling nations as we know them today. Just pray no one makes a stupid mistake and accidentally triggers an incident. |
Damisic:And after 'shinning' they will then sell their products to who? resulting in economic collapse, widespread poverty and social implosion. Oga, they are not shallow thinkers like Africans. On this planet mutually assured destruction is a certainty in any future global incident. No one will come out alive or unscathed. |
TheRareGem1:Nigeria. A contractors paradise. When will this country evolve from its rent seeking psyche to that of productivity. They just throw figures and demands around like a privileged, indolent housewife that cannot be creative, think out of the box and find solutions to problems. No. Everything in Nigeria is monetised. Restructure Nigeria so that all these horrid, corruptive demands will end. So that NIMC officials know only about how to gather and process data, not how much servers cost for it is not their business. So that military generals know how to fight wars and device security strategies not how much tanks, bullets and bombs cost for it is not their business So that medical doctors, biochemists, and epidemiologists in government know how to battle infectious diseases rather than haggle the prices of vaccines and medical equipment and supplies for it is not their business. The Nigeria state is one where the primordial nature and characteristic is money, money, money and more money. Everyone serving is first an accountant, treasurer and contractor before he or she is civil.... And far, far, far from being a servant. No one has any solution to anything beyond contracting. No nation can develop this way. |
chily11:Hope so. I don't usually do individual interests and really donot subscribe to having a party dominate power over extended periods but something tells me this man will be unique in his approach to governance and certainly does not look like a stooge or lap dog of anyone. |
Evii:I hope not. Devaluation is a useful tool in shock treating the Nigeria psyche away from cheap imports. It should galvanise local production, content and contentment for a people who are truly brilliant and hardworking. If is doesn't it goes a long way to prove that the nation is not ready to move forward. The question you should be asking yourself is. What do you need a cheap dollar for? Most purebred industrialists look towards currency stability rather than currency value. That is the least we can honestly ask for. We need a conatant, bitter reminder every waking morning, that we are ultimately not a productive people. |
