Congratulations to the Dangote Group and Alhaji Aliko. His vision and dogged mission statements are truly inspirational and a serious asset to this country. Cannot wait for his next giant stride. |
AuroraB:Exactly. Simple legislation will end this. Mandatory presentation of identity of all adult lodgings. If you require identity in a bank, to fly and to buy a cell phone, hasn't the time come for the hospitality industry to come to terms with the mounting cases of homicides in its operations. Common sense. |
Sheikh Gumi being politically correct in saying what the establishment wants to hear thus prolonging his days in business. The mention of IPOB is the updated password to a world of infinite insecurity promises. Every tail uses it to wag the government dog these days. Expected. |
yommen:Or the evidence photographer is in on the deal as well. You can never know with these chaps. |
When the rank and file of the police suffer enough collateral damage from its rogue members they will begin to turn on each other and perhaps something good will come out of it. |
There used to be another tree in that collection of California forestry that was illustrated in books I grew up with as a kid. So huge was the tree that its main trunk split close to the ground could accommodate a car driving between it. I can never forget those images all the days of my life. Dunno whether it has been lost to the frequent forest fires in those parts all these years. |
If the engineering is right, why not. All it takes is a nation embracing industrialisation first, technology next and innovation to crown it all. But where a country like Nigeria can only boast of concrete as an industrial material of construction such will remain a pipe dream (pun intended). And for this building, with the exception of the foundations there will not be a single ounce of concrete used to erect it because concrete simply cannot carry such loads in such a short time span. So the main materials of construction will be metals, composites and plastics and these are specialised and highly industrialized materials. So the bottom line is: Get the basics right. Get industry functional and all another things will be possible. |
opribo:That is what Nigeria has reduced herself to. That is the future of this country. That is where the story ends. That is the quality of life you should expect going forward on this same trajectory. So sad...but sorry. |
And these are the people, representing institutions we believe will take us out of the doldrums and towards universal security, peace and prosperity... and all the trappings of the developed world. Just as the dawn dictates the day and the dough the bread so is the decay in all aspects of life in Nigeria indicant of a truly 'colourful' future for this country. Yet they say we are on the right trajectory and there is no need to change the status quo and those calling for a change in the way we live as citizens of this country aka restructuring are the mad ones. Just look at what Nigeria is reduced to. A joke. Sometimes you just hope that what you are viewing is somehow not true and that things just cannot be this bad in reality. But alas they will always be up to your fears and stand firm to confirm your shame as a right thinking citizen. |
preshyusufu:That is what a classic case of oppression does to a nation. It does not start and end with cuffing the rights to protest but it goes further to silent dissenting voices, and further to silent dissenting writings, messages and publications as in the case of Nigeria. Will it surprise you tomorrow that apparel is banned and those wearing them stripped na.ke.d on the streets.... For if this little quip can so embitter some to such a volcanic degree you can imagine what kind of anger burns in their hearts, the hearts of so called leaders that by nature should be temperate, considerate and circumspect. Anyone who cannot tolerate this banter should consider himself dead to reason and absolutely cold at heart. Willing to ignore solutions completely and downright empty upstairs. |
Armanipounds:I think it is best served if he remains a Representative of his people at the centre because there is virtually no other person who articulates and promotes the most important issues of Eastern Nigeria. That is until at least more vocal advocates are elected or the country is restructured to send ipower and nfluence back to the grassroots. He has done very well these past years. |
Key campaign promises in 2015 and repeated in 2019 remain just that, promises. Rampaging corruption, economic decay and escalating insecurity. Still, they promise to solve the problems they have only escalated six years in office. |
How old is that building that it is in disrepair already. They should call Julius Berger back to fix it. Nonsense. |
AdaSunshine:I do not think you reside in Nigeria or obtain enough security reports to properly assess the depth of the problem in Nigeria. |
Tinubuadvocate:A Representative's first allegiance is to his constituency. He is born out of his constituency TO the federation. Seems the principles of this democracy thing is difficult for your understanding. He owes no allegiance to the man 1 metre outside his senatorial zone. None whatsoever. He has no Executive power of control. It is Mr. President that swears to care for ALL Nigerians and so has a greater burden of patriotism on his shoulders. Unfortunately most confuse allegiance to the President to mean patriotism even when the Constitution, Civil liberties, the welfare and unity of the country is compromised by him or his office. This is also why we call for the restructuring of this country. If this was done properly both the President and the nation needn't worry about Mr. Abaribe for his activities and the effects of his representation will have been peer to peer. And most of you lots will be busy looking after your own interests instead of moonlighting on matters far away from your abodes. |
Great100000:Hahahaha...if he can dance box to box no problem for the Gunners but the truth is that soccer success is where great players meet great managers under great management. Arsenal Corp seems to think otherwise. That is either balls or baloney. Time will tell. |
Good one. The next natural question one should ask is why the bribe giver was not tried. History fails me here. |
kolexy:And are you not relieved such a man's ambitions are being 'derailed'. Is he not a potential danger to state coffers. In saner climes a whiff of such behaviour and actions and such a person is politically toxic and unelectable. With such attitude some of us are clearly not ready to discard our chains. |
Shameful. Really shameful for a so called adpirant to political office. Where is the decency, where is the honour, where is the trust. Can any right thinking citizen entrust public finances into such hands? |
Abalado:Agreed. In normal circumstances these mid season elections should actually be a vote of confidence or otherwise on the government in power and in that case the APC should expect nothing other than a protest vote against its candidate... ...but Nigeria is not a 'normal country' and frankly the APC is not entirely an evil entity if it could just rid itself of personality cultism and properly institutionalise. But as long as it is viewed as a vehicle for the actualisation of clandestine, dark agendas of very powerful individuals commanding it, its problems will persist. To get the APC back into mainstream politics will require a massive show of courage by its members to sieze its power base and steer it away from its presently underperforming figurines. |
And the government just announced it has spent 5 billion dollars fighting poverty in Nigeria. Seems like Bandit Corp. has yet to get the memo. 100,000 outlaws and counting.... that is more than 4, four, four, four military combat divisions.... hmmm.... It is better to say nothing... |
LegalWolf:I agree that Nigerian livestock could be producing milk products for subsistence animal husbandry but I simply cannot imagine any thing on an industrial scale for two basic reasons. One. The breed or specie of cattle pervasive in these parts are not champion milk producers and more importantly just where, when and how will these cattle be milked on an industrial scale when they are always on the move. Milk cattle produce twice a day. Pastoralism will simply make it impossible for such procedures. Except there is something I am seriously missing here. |
That is close to Two and a Half Trillion Naira.... hmmm.... words fail me.... |
The City of my birth, that turned out to be a head shrinker's paradise. Quit with my sanity by 2003 and I guess I've added 10 years to my basic life expectancy. |
Indeed sir. Because Igbos are the most cosmopolitan they deserve the most discrimination abi? Talk of Nigeria's warped value system. One of many reasons this country just has to be restructured if a worse outcome is to be headed off. |
Just finish your term and go, that's all. Nothing more to say about your government and yourself. Your place in history is sealed. |
I am not one to play around with words but this is really, really gross. I cannot for the life of me wonder why African food has very little consideration for looks and presentation. Is is because we come from a background of famine, slavery, colonisation and suffering that blunts all other senses except taste that people commit such heinous crimes like this....haba. This is not food at all. This is a hunger suppressor. The kind of thing you tie a man's hands and legs and force feed him to confess all his sins and reveal all his secrets. This thing can never stay down in a normal stomach. How can...kai ![]() |
In the atmosphere we live in this country today when people do the decent thing, go through the right channels and processes, just let the right thing be done. Why should court orders not be obeyed. Why is the rule of law set aside. It is when confidence in institutions and systems and processes are completely eroded you see the collapse of society into violence, self help and extra-judicial actions. These people know that issues surrounding the oil and gas industry and resource control are touchy subjects which can so easily snowball into wider crises in a heart beat, they should just let go and let the law take its course for peace to reign. We so like brinkmanship in this country and seem to enjoy unending crises out of sheer stupid greed and mindlessness. |
Wish them the very best. |
When the show is all over we all have to find our way home. While some are building rail lines home others are busy burning the last bridges.... There will be tears.... |
Violence solves nothing. Those in authority with the power to bring people together peacefully yet do nothing are guilty of every blood shed and every life needlessly lost. |
supportnija:Mister, please let it go. You do not have a point at all. It was the unit that was disbanded, no one was sacked. Intelligence is mental competency and experience rolled in one. It is domiciled in people not in nomenclature or titles. The ability and tools to fight crime at the previous levels are still in the police force. The true reasons why they are less effective are two fold. One, they are struggling to morph from the high handed tactics in relations with the civil population and constantly fear a re-ignition of unrest and protests against them. Two, it is obvious the insurgency previously located in the north east has metastasised into criminality and is spreading beyond those ideological boundaries as the economy deteriorates. The government of the day too is not helping matters by its stoking of political embers in its utterances and divisive and sectional actions requiring further deployment of scarce internal security resources to keep the peace where previously there was no widespread social upheavals. |
